Afternoon girls, and welcome Heron .
Getting very excited reading this thread at the moment - lots of GOFing going on and I'll give it a few days, but predict lots of symptom-spotting too!
Like the idea of the baby hammock, but I think I'm going to pout all of my spare cash into the buggy, and stick with my moses basket and cot combo. I have to say I am a bit of a Gina Ford fan (she won't sue me for saying that I'm sure ) and she saved my sanity for both dd2 and 3 (after not getting on at all with 'on demand' with dd1). The link with sleeping is that I'll be taking next baby up to cot/basket for naps (in bedroom), so won't really need a portable sleeping place. Realise I'm probably in a minority though, and as Nat says, it really is impossible that child care philosophies would suit everyone (otherwise there wouldn't be so many books on the market!).
I think by the time we're all pregnant, it would be quite feasible to have next to our names on the list the type of buggy we are buying, car seat, breast ot bottle, GF or Tracey Hogg, co-sleeping or own room...
Back at home with dds now, so better start clearing the breakfast things!!

NJ, meant to add I'm sure you would be perfectly entitled to an early scan after having had a MC. I know it's a bit naughty (and sorry if I offend anyone) but I think if I were you I might may be a bit creative with the truth iyswim and invent some symptoms?

Diege · 21/02/2008 16:27

Oh and also meant to say I'll be going for nuchal scan again with combined bloods (12 week, not triple). I'll be 38 (or very nearly) when pregnant this time, so my risks are creeping up, though still heavily weighted for a good outcome!

NatalieJane · 21/02/2008 16:27

ROFL, I am not looking after that list Diege, god, I could get paid for things like that!

I feel all nice today, have saved my next door neighbours washing from being rained on, have offered up DH to help out with retrieving lost photos from some ones dead computer, and have offered to help anyone out on the Leap Pad for a fiver thread.

Feel like I deserve a gold star and some sex

Diege · 21/02/2008 16:33

I award you with your gold star Nat, but unfortuantely can't do much on the sex front

NatalieJane · 21/02/2008 16:40

Ha ha, very good

Only just seen your post about the early scan, that is exactly what I think. And exactly what I plan to do. Who knows when I see the GP he may well just let me book a 6 week scan, and if he does then it is fine, if not, I will do what I can to get one, and if at the time I don't feel like lying I will get a private one, either way I am not waiting till 12 weeks.

I think I might actually say I am further on than I am, because no doubt I'll have the bump from 6 weeks as usual, that way when they send me for my "12 week" scan, I will actually be about 6. That isn't a bad plan...!

Heron23 · 21/02/2008 17:03

It is a disgrace really the way different hospitals have different way of doing things. i think that an early scan is a must - at around 6 weeks, to date the pregnancy and more importantly to ensure that the pregnancy is not ectopic.
I am going to get an early scan, pay for it myself.

NatalieJane · 21/02/2008 17:25

I agree. Before the MC, as much as I'd have liked having an early scan, I could see that it wasn't needed as such, but now after the MC, there is just no way on earth I will last till 12 weeks to find out one way or the other. In fact I think the worry and stress could actually cause another MC, which is why I would lie through my back teeth to get one!

And I don't usually condone lying in any way shape or form. In fact have been known to get quite uppity about liers to DH before now! How two faced am I??!!!

lardylumps · 21/02/2008 17:29

Good evening ladies. You have got to help me I feel so bad i have just shouted at my dd . I am the worst mum in the world.

Heron23 · 21/02/2008 17:30

NatalieJane, you're not two faced at all! the system is forcing you to do it. 12 weeks is such a long time to wait...i agree the stress would definitely be very bad.

just out of interest, what would you say to get an early scan? i would like to know!

lardylumps · 21/02/2008 17:32

Hello heron. Down here you get a scan at 8 weeks and then not one until 21 weeks. I had to pay private to have a scan done at 12 weeks.

NatalieJane · 21/02/2008 17:42

LL, don't beat yourself up, kids can be little bugger's at times. Just have a brew, give lots of cuddles, I promise she'd have forgotten about it in less than 5 minutes.

Heron I seem to be quite odd in the way of getting a very pregnant belly very quickly (I was 6 weeks with DS2 but people thought I was more like 5/6 months, and with the MC I had a load of shite with the mums in the playground because they all kept going on about it, when I had already lost it, I am a size 12, woke up one day and couldn't do my old size 18's up!), so I think I will just make out that I can't remember my last AF or something, I guess with the bump they would think I was further on than 6 weeks so would give me a dating scan to find out. I wouldn't like to say I was bleeding because at 6 weeks it is very likely to be an internal scan and they would know, I think, if I wasn't/hadn't had any bleeding.

MiMao · 21/02/2008 17:47

Hello Ladies

Joining on here... thought I was pregnant last week with no 3 and start really warming to the idea and getting all excited. On the morning I was due I done a test which of neg of course and period started withing the hour after. I was surprised at how gutted I feel and I now have a sad feeling inside and know I want another baby NOW! ...

Spoke to dh and we have agreed to start ttc later this year. I started another thread asking tips on how to cope with my broodiness

I was thinking of twisting my dh's arm by saying we should start now because it may take up to a year or more - you never know how long it will take do you?

I am going a bit crazy because my period seems to have stopped after 3.5 days and I am usually 6-7 days! So I have started to think I am pregnant again after doing two tests this week, one which was done an hour b4 af started so I am know I am being silly but I like the idea of maybe I am

Heron23 · 21/02/2008 17:47

Lardylumps, we have all done that - shouted at our LO. it is the most terrible feeling in the world- but luckily, our LO love us so much, they forgive pretty quickly and hopefully forget too!

i have done it a couple of times, when DS was testing me to the limit!

Heron23 · 21/02/2008 17:49

NatalieJane, i think your plan just might work. pls remind me, when are you going TTC?

NatalieJane · 21/02/2008 17:51

Hiya Mi I think I caught your how to stop being broody thread. I can't promise we will help with the broodiness, but we are all waiting (well most of us!) for one reason or another so come and be broody with us

Yes LL listen to Heron

NatalieJane · 21/02/2008 17:54

We are hoping to start April/May time, it depends when AF arrives around then, I have know idea of my natural cycle due to contraception/pregnancies/breast feeding for the last 6/7 years, so I can't really work out when it will be. We are waiting more to avoid certain months of the baby being born. That sounds awful, but it is the way it is!

Playingthewaitinggame · 21/02/2008 17:54

LL, I am sure you are not a bad mum, everyone looses it every now and again!

I know what you mean about scanning, I can't believe I am going to have to wait till 16 weeks till my first scan, its outrageous, most people at least get a 12 week scan!

lardylumps · 21/02/2008 17:55

Thank you ladies I have just given dd a huge cuddle and a bite of my cake (I told you i was feeling guilty). She seems to have forgiven me as she has just given me a kiss...

Hi ya Mi this thread will probably make you more broody but at least you will not be one your own there a lots of us..

Diege · 21/02/2008 17:58

LL, don't feel bad!! I think I probably shout at least once a day at the dds when I'm not at work, and then maybe have a proper shouty losing it rant at them once a week . I know it doesn't really achieve much (except making you feel better at the time!) but hey we're only human, and I defy anyone to say they never shout! Certainly there's something in the theory that it's good for kids to see mum and dad getting cross from time to time, in so far as they see you're human and that their behaviour has effects on other people .
Hi MIMAO - you sound like you will fit in perfectly with those of us on this thread . Not sure we will help with your broodiness though!

NatalieJane · 21/02/2008 17:58

We have got loads of fireworks going off, have I missed something today?

Diege · 21/02/2008 18:01

Ah, that'll be the fireworks I ordered to celebrate your gold star award (oh and the award for the most rampant bedroom action of the thread )

Diege · 21/02/2008 18:03

God that's so weird..dd1 has just shouted, 'look fireworks!!!' (they've just started outside the window??

NatalieJane · 21/02/2008 18:05

PMSL it's not been 40 days since Lent started is it?

Diege · 21/02/2008 18:10
