Anyone out there starting/continuing IVF treatment next month (April 2023)?

I’m 36, first time everything, and due to start stims early April. Wondering if there are others who might like a thread to chat/vent?

If you’re out there and in a similar position, let me know!

That’s great news @SaraSS , glad to hear everything is moving forward.

@HopefulHead I’ve been doing acupuncture too, I completely agree! It’s like the most uncomfortable relaxation method I’ve ever experienced! Mine comes with a really brutal Chinese massage too, I am honestly not sure whether it’s doing anything useful but the Chinese therapist lady is very convincing when I’m there 😂. I’ve been going to the nearby sauna afterwards just to have something genuinely relaxing afterwards, which really works, but will have to cut that out soon as well.

How are the injections going, @charja100 and anyone else who’s started? Any side effects you’re finding?

I’m glad it’s not just me who isn’t enjoying the acupuncture 😆
I just don’t understand how it can be relaxing having needles poked in you 😭
I may try your sauna trick see if it makes it easier to get through knowing I have something to look forward to after it haha

Bit of a curve ball for me - I knew that a job I really want would be advertised in the coming months, but it's now! Closing date is at the beginning of May so basically I need to do the application while also doing this cycle. Really hoping that the side effects don't get me too hard and that I can find time and space to put in a great application while also trying to grow eggs and embryos...! Going to be a big month!

SaraSS · 05/04/2023 15:44

@RunningOnHope
Oh, bless you! Everything comes at once doesn't it?
Just got to do the best you can given the circumstances 🙂 give yourself lots of time to write out the application etc. I always find it useful to have someone else read over job applications, especially if I'm not in the right head space.
You've got this 💪 xx

CR7 · 05/04/2023 15:45

@RunningOnHope you got this!!! xx whilst everyone is different, I had no side effects apart from headaches when I didn't drink enough water xx

Triselly · 05/04/2023 16:16

@RunningOnHope oh very best of luck!! This really is an exciting couple of months!

First stim injection DONE! Oh my goodness I was nervous but it literally didn't hurt at all - my wife said it was like putting a needle through butter, really easy. So so relieved. Onwards and upwards!

Triselly · 05/04/2023 21:54

@RunningOnHope ah brilliant! So glad it went well!

So injections have been okay so far. I start another one tonight, hoping it's as it has been with two. I think the key is not to rush it. I just take my time.

I had really bad headaches the day after the first one but since then I've just drink lots of water and that really helped. I felt a bit nauseous too on the first day and used it as an excuse to eat what I wanted 😂

I've been fine since, I've made sure this week I've just stayed really calm and listened to my body and it seems to be working so far!

lemons44 · 06/04/2023 08:27

Well done @RunningOnHope !

Hope everyone is doing ok. Starting to feel hormonal today but pretty sure it's because I have started my injections on day 21 so now on day 24 and a few days off of AF! This is when I normally get a bit hormonal on a normal month so I am putting it down to that.

I can't stop thinking about McDonald's chips now 🤣 may need a sneaky Maccy-Ds over Easter.

CR7 · 06/04/2023 09:10

Ladies who are stimming the water drinking will help tremendously with the headaches. Really proud of you all x

@RunningOnHope yay! And you're off! How are you feeling?

RunningOnHope · 06/04/2023 15:35

@charja100 Absolutely find today – trying to keep drinking, and no effects so far. I was sure I could feel my ovaries twitching as I went to sleep last night though 😂

Is anybody else a bit paranoid about catching covid? I'm meeting with family for the Easter weekend, including a teacher and 3 children. Just feel so worried about seeing people incase I get covid and they cancel my egg collection. Not sure if I'm being silly or not.

Triselly · 06/04/2023 20:10

@lemons44 I was very worried about getting any bugs, but definitely corona over winter. But now we’re heading out of sickness seasons, I’m hoping that the chances of catching something are reducing. I suppose there are some things that we can do to try and stave off corona, like just being sensible in public spaces and washing hands frequently. Are they still testing at your clinic/ would they cancel the cycle if you tested positive?

OP posts:
RunningOnHope · 06/04/2023 21:44

@lemons44 I've not been asked to test before coming in, and although we've had colds and bugs over winter, it hasn't occurred to me to do a covid test for ages now. So not too concerned really.

CR7 · 07/04/2023 06:56

@lemons44 I had a temperature check only on collection /transfer days xx

lemons44 · 07/04/2023 08:30

@CR7 that's interesting. I don't know if they will ask me to do a lateral flow before egg collection. They just told me if I get covid they have to delay egg collection by 7 weeks. I do think if I'm not testing though then how would I know?
I think I will just try not to worry and be sensible. Just don't want it to affect our chances of good eggs

charja100 · 07/04/2023 09:32

@RunningOnHope 😂 I can definitely feel my ovaries twitching now. It's CD7 today and I started a second injection last night. It definitely hurt a more, I think the needle was thicker.

@lemons44 I'm not, but I'm not out and about that much as I'm deliberately taking it easy and haven't made big plans this weekend. Mainly as I just wanted to relax

I haven't been asked to do a test. I actually can't remember the last time I did one at all tbh.

RunningOnHope · 07/04/2023 09:35

@charja100 What's the second injection for? Is it more stims? Sorry it was more painful!!

I'm on an IVF Lite protocol so quite low doses and hopefully nothing extra to add in - the risk is there's not many eggs but hoping it will be a fairly gentle ride.

charja100 · 07/04/2023 09:47

@RunningOnHope so I'm still on my same stims injection but now I've added in another one which is to stop me from ovulating now. My first stims scan is booked for Monday, Second is currently booked in for Wednesday.

How's everyone getting on? Are we all okay?

CR7 · 07/04/2023 10:12

@lemons44 I had three collections and two transfers last year and did no lateral flows just a temperature check xx

CR7 · 08/04/2023 12:16

Just been for my down reg scan in preparation for my frozen transfer. All looking good so starting patches and oestrogen today. Heading back for a scan on Monday April 17th with a view to transfer somewhere around last week April. How is everyone doing xx

@HopefulHead

And then rest of the gang x
