Anyone out there starting/continuing IVF treatment next month (April 2023)?

I’m 36, first time everything, and due to start stims early April. Wondering if there are others who might like a thread to chat/vent?

If you’re out there and in a similar position, let me know!

How are you getting on xx

Hey @CR7 I’m a little deflated today, looks like I haven’t ovulated this month 😞 which would mean I can’t do natural FET next month, and now just stressing that the IVF has done damage and stopped my natural cycle working normally 😫

How are you?

Could it be delayed. My ovulation is not always at the same time each month. Are you using the ov sticks? Xx

HopefulHead · 31/03/2023 14:46

@CR7 Im using the digital clear blue ones and then also using cheapy strip tests in between, I normally ovulate at day 12, I had a very faint line wed and thur then no line at all today so looks like my LH level raised but then I haven’t actually ovulated 🙁 gonna keep testing and see but it would be unusual for me to ovulate late but 🤞🏼🤞🏼

CR7 · 31/03/2023 16:39

@HopefulHead I would test just a little bit longer to be sure xx

Triselly · 31/03/2023 19:52

@HopefulHead You know I think exactly the same thing has happened to me, been waiting for a temperature rise for a few days now.

But I got sick last week so maybe that's thrown things off a bit. I used to chart ovulation with the sticks but found them to be wildly inaccurate - maybe our ovulations have just been thrown off by a few days this month.

@CR7 How are you doing? 💐

@HopefulHead Is it s problem if we don’t ovulate this month? As long as our periode start irregardless, surely we can start with the stims anyway?

OP posts:
CR7 · 01/04/2023 08:12

@Triselly I agree. I was never asked about ovulation the month before

Finally got the outstanding results back from my endemetrio procedure and my implantation window is a day later than normal!

This is a brilliant find as it’s an easy fix and exactly why we did the operation in the first place so I’m feeling really positive (without getting carried away). Also the biome was a bit off but they suggested I take a vaginal probiotic after the operation regardless, which would have reset it anyway. So going into this round I am feeling much more hopeful. Xx

CR7 · 01/04/2023 08:14

More info on a displaced implantation window

@CR7 That’s fantastic - sounds like a real step forward! Do you have a date for your FET? Also thank you, that’s reassuring about you not being asked about ovulation.

Morning everyone.

@CR7 I'm okay thank you. I'm so pleased your recent test had come back with a result that gives you some actionable changes! Really hoping your

So I've woken up to cramps and spotting this morning. Now waiting to see if today will be AF full flow. So my tummy's twisting and I don't know why! Not quite sure if it's nerves, excitement, or maybe both. How did anyone who's been here before calm themselves 🤣

So after your suggestion he might want to be involved. I asked my hubby if he wanted to be involved with the injections and he physically recoiled. He said he'd help set them up but that he wasn't sadistic and I'm not a pin cushion. It did make me laugh!

@RunningOnHope did you manage to sit down with your wife and watch some vids?

charja100 · 01/04/2023 09:38

@TheBirdintheCave Re staying positive I'm not sure I do. I have good days and bad. Sometimes I'm so confident we have great chances. We've paid for a multi cycle option so we have some chances. But then I think that doesn't guarantee anything.

Im thinking taking a leaf out of your book and booking a something to look forward to.

RunningOnHope · 01/04/2023 09:58

@CR7 that's such good news, great that the test has given some answers. What will the fix involve?

@charja100 we did, sat down and watched it all last night. Wife is very confident that it's straight forward and she can do my injections if I want her to do nice to have that option. Just got to wait for baseline scan on Tuesday to roll around now!

CR7 · 01/04/2023 10:15

@RunningOnHope means I will get a personalised transfer window which is not on the standard day they would normally do it. I will be on progesterone for a bit longer than normal xx

CR7 · 01/04/2023 15:27

@charja100 I'm glad you spoke to him about it. This way you have given him the option. I personally preferred doing my own injections. I didn't find them stressful after the first time and I never iced first. They can sting a bit but honestly easy once you've done one xx

HopefulHead · 02/04/2023 10:44

@Triselly @CR7
I don’t think it is an issue in terms of having a transfer next month, but as I’m looking to do natural I wanted to check it this month to check my cycle had gone back to normal, but I haven’t heard it’s an issue, I just wanted to do it for my own peace of mind really 😬
I did get a positive for LH surge on the digital stick this morning though so it seems that it was just pushed back by a few days 🙌🏼

Triselly · 02/04/2023 10:53

@HopefulHead Ah yes apologies, I read that you were doing a natural cycle after I posted and realised that what had said wasn’t relevant to you! That’s great news though - I got my temperature rise so, like you, think I was just thrown off by a couple of days this month. Can I ask, what is the process for natural ivf? I was interested in this as the stims sound not great for one’s health, if I was under 35 I would definitely consider it.

So we’re all still on, with all our different methods, for possibly being pregnant by the end of the month? 😅

OP posts:
HopefulHead · 02/04/2023 11:24

@Triselly They hadn’t told me to check it with doing natural either to be honest I just wanted to make sure I was still ovulating so I wasn’t dissapointed next month if I didn’t 😬
So natural is basically that I call the clinic when I get my LH surge next month and they do the transfer 5/6 days after, so no meds or progesterone or anything. I will just have a couple of scans before I ovulate to make sure I have a follicle growing and that there’s no cysts etc.
I can definitely see why medicated is preferred as you are controlling when you ovulate and having the extra progesterone etc but because I over reacted to the stims so much last time I’m just really reluctant to have any drugs again!

TheBirdintheCave · 02/04/2023 13:09

@Triselly Not me! I won't be starting until the end of April. I'll have to cheer you all on until then 😂

CR7 · 02/04/2023 13:27

@HopefulHead @TheBirdintheCave @Triselly
We are all on different journeys heading hopefully to the same destination, fingers crossed!

I also am not quite as along as pregnant by end of April as i am down regulating until Saturday and then starting the progesterone : patches : oestrogen combo for a few weeks before my frozen transfer.

So glad those of you ovulated that were worrying about it. My dr said as I had a long history of successful ovulation using the sticks and had never missed a month even if my ovulation window shifted a bit some months, to stop wasting my money xx

Flowerlover010 · 03/04/2023 09:28

Hi all

Wondered if i could join on. I am due to start my first ever IVF cycle and am very nervous. Due to start injections in a few days so scared as i hate needles and probably going to have to do them myself. If anyone has any tips on this would be great. Nervous of everything esp since they said im high risk of OHSS too. Ive had 3 miscarriages from natural pregnancies and just hoping with ivf we can get pregnant but also stay pregnant. Its such a lonely place to be.

CR7 · 03/04/2023 09:29

Morning @Flowerlover010 and welcome xx

Lots of ladies in the same boat re injections. Have a read through the thread and let us know how we can help xx

Triselly · 03/04/2023 10:27

Hi there @Flowerlover010 very happy to have you here!

Yeah I can definitely relate to the needle fear - do you have a partner or friend who might help?

I have heard of a couple of techniques to help with the injections that have been mentioned in this thread - one (I’m going with this one) is to numb the area out with an ice pack for 5 minutes beforehand, and the other that @RunningOnHope I think talked about is using Embla cream, which is a topical OTC numbing cream. This is very effective if you use if correctly and will completely numb out the skin.

I’m due to start the stims in a few days too, so we’re here with you xx
