Anyone out there starting/continuing IVF treatment next month (April 2023)?

I’m 36, first time everything, and due to start stims early April. Wondering if there are others who might like a thread to chat/vent?

If you’re out there and in a similar position, let me know!

@charja100 That’s fantastic - how exciting! How funny to think that by this time next week you may well be pregnant!

@pongom oof I’m starting with fyremadel tomorrow, hopefully you don’t have very many days left on it, it sounds a bit rubbish.

Good morning to everyone, hope you are all doing ok xx

Good morning everyone!

Amazing news @charja100 ! I'll be a week behind you as we are estimating transfer around 25th.

Please keep us posted.

I start my steroids this morning. I read last night that one of the side effects is insomnia which I already have so they suggest to take first thing in the morning with food to reduce the amount in your system by bed time. Good advice if anyone else is taking them too xx

stacelou888 · 13/04/2023 09:02

Hello I'm currently in my tww after fet anyone wanna chat? I'm nervous and excited xx

CR7 · 13/04/2023 09:14

Welcome @stacelou888 none of us are in our wait yet; most just stims / waiting for transfer or retrieval dates.

Very excited to hear you've got so far on your journey x

Triselly · 13/04/2023 09:23

Hello @stacelou888 how exciting for you! Do you have any other children?
How do you feel about testing? As in pregnancy testing before the tww is up I mean.

I have heard a lot of discussion about this - some women testing every day from their FET just to monitor their levels and get a heads up! Whereas most women seem to think this wouldn’t be great for their sanity haha. Are you planning on waiting the full 2 weeks? How about everyone else?

@CR7 let us know how you find the steroids! If everything goes to plan and I end up with useable embryos, I should be getting my transfer around the same time as you 😄

Amazing news @triselly xx 👯‍♂️

From past experience ( I've done two TWWs) I only allow myself to test one day earlier than I'm instructed to. I've had so many friends go through it, testing early, and having very mixed results that can go from negative to positive and vice versa, so I promised myself each time I would only test one day early. Everyone is different, I can only tell you from my experience; I would rather stay in my bubble of hope for a little bit longer, than stress myself out unnecessarily. Whatever the outcome is, it's going to be as clear as it possibly can be by test date. I don't want to get excited or sad too early xx

RunningOnHope · 13/04/2023 12:37

Hope all goes well with the steroids @CR7 and thanks for having so much useful wisdom to share - I think of you every time I have a glass of water this week 😂

@charja100 That's amazing about your follicles going so well - really hoping egg collection goes smoothly for you tomorrow and there are loads of mature fertilised eggs by Saturday morning!

My scan was officially day 8 of stims but I'd only done 7 days since they're in the evening. I think it was CD10. One positive was that my lining thickness was exactly what he wanted to see, so that's something?! Just have to wait for tomorrows scan and a new plan to press ahead with.

CR7 · 13/04/2023 12:41

@RunningOnHope that's amazing news because I always struggled with my lining until they got my meds right on cycle three.

So glad about the water. It's an easy fix once you know xx

Hi I have two kids (not ivf) I stupidly did a test yesterday way too early. I'm not feeling massively hopeful as I've been soooo stressed since the transfer x

CR7 · 13/04/2023 14:14

@stacelou888 dressed because of the ivf or life stress xx

CR7 · 13/04/2023 14:30

Hi all, looking for a little bit of support regarding our current situation. We’ve been under out clinic for over a year now and it feels like it’s one thing after another and nothing seems to be going right. Initially we were hoping to do shared motherhood - I’d be carrying my partners egg, but we weren’t able to. So plans changed so that it would be IVF for myself. Since then we’ve been in a constant battle trying to get sign off from my GP in regards to a heart condition that I have and was under the care of cardiology in 2015 - since has been fine with no flare ups and I haven’t seen a cardiologist since. My GP is saying it’s nothing to do with her because she isn’t cardiology but the doctor at the clinic is saying she needs to give clearance as she’ll be taking care in the event of a pregnancy. It’s been over a year of one issue after another and we’ve not even done a cycle yet. Feeling very frustrated and like it’s never going to happen.

CR7 · 13/04/2023 15:50

@WholeZebra is the clinic giving you any guidance of how you can get the sign off? Does the gp need to refer you to a cardiologist?

I'm not surprised you're fed up to be honest. What a rollercoaster for you xx

CR7 · 13/04/2023 15:51

@stacelou888 I know it's hard. I've been there. But you need to try to relax if at all possible. Cinema. Books. Cooking. Walks. Swimming. Anything xx we are all here

WholeZebra · 13/04/2023 15:58

@CR7 they’ve not really said anything except that the GP keeps sending the wrong thing to them - she keeps sending medical records and they want medical clearance of fitness for treatment. They could refer to cardiology but I think the waiting list at the moment is around 8 months.
I don’t think I’ve stopped crying since the last appointment an hour ago xx

CR7 · 13/04/2023 16:04

@WholeZebra I'm so very sorry xx

Triselly · 13/04/2023 16:31

I’m so sorry to hear that @WholeZebra it really does sound so hard. We do understand the waiting, and how it can shred your sanity. Is it one of these situations where if you just keep calling and reminding the GP, to the point of being a nuisance, where they might not be able to ignore you and actually get your paperwork sorted?

@stacelou888 yes I second @CR7 on going for distractions! I have read that it’s normal to get false positives whilst the HCG from the trigger shot (I think?) is in your system for a few days directly after ET. It sounds like such an unbearable wait, but we’re here if you need to vent xx

Ahh it's so hard! We're going away for a few days to keep busy x

CR7 · 13/04/2023 20:40

@stacelou888 good plan xx

RunningOnHope · 13/04/2023 22:16

How important is it for stims to be at exactly the same time every night? We've been within 5 mins every night so far but I had a relative on the phone for a really important family crisis type situation that I couldn't finish immediately so we're about 30 minutes late tonight. Do you think it'll make an impact?

CR7 · 13/04/2023 22:35

@RunningOnHope you'll be fine xx we often worked with the hour xx
