Hi ladies
I've looked for a thread for this but didn't find a recent one so is there anyone who would like to join?
I turned 40 in December. I have 3 older children, got married in November and my new DH and I have decided to try for a baby together. He is 49 this month.
Very concerned that our ages will be against us! We don't want to go down the road of fertility help and will probably only give it this year to see if it's meant to be! I was previously adamant I didn't want anymore babies but slowly changed my mind and now I would love one more!
I'm currently waiting for the return of AF following the depo contraceptive before I begin tracking ovulation..which I've never done before!
So that's my story in a nutshell.
Anyone else 40+ who would like to form a support group with me?

Morning. We’ve had (over the last couple of months) tests done at the fertility clinic (NHS)
does anyone know roughly how long they take to come back to you? We’ve heard nothing!

Khanny · 19/07/2023 09:33

@Holls81 I had my blood test and Hycosy at the beginning of May and my results were discussed when I had my next appt (which was last Thursday). We have been discharged now following the results - clear tubes and an "ok" FSH of 12 which is high but given I am 42 gynae said it wasn't bad and there is no other reason for us not catching an egg. She advised me to take folic acid and vitamin d and aim to bd every 2-3 days! I am taking a CoQ10 supplement on top of these hoping they will help me release a decent egg. Good luck to you, hope you get your results soon and you get good news xx

Hariboislife · 24/07/2023 21:47

Had my trigger shot 14 days ago, has a negative pregnancy test this morning ☹️ Absolutely gutted as really hoped this would help. Now to decide whether to try again with tracking scans and more ovidrel, go for natural or stimulated IVF or give up. Summer holidays now so it’s harder to find time for all the scans and we’ll probably be away when it’s time for next injection. Might have to put it all on hold (keep trying naturally, naturally!) until after summer

@Khanny that's fab news that all seems normal. Fingers crossed for you.
my husband and I both had tests in July but my next appointment isn’t till beginning of October so was hoping I’d hear before then if they’d discovered any issues.
Does anyone know if this is the case?
lost track of what cycle I’m on but it’s around 22 now (super regular) and still not a single positive. Has anyone else has this and then had a sudden surprise BFP? 🤞🏻

MrsPepper82 · 10/09/2023 16:20

Hi! Joining this chat, as we are TTC#3. DH 45 and I 41. One teen and one preteen are already so independent, that we felt the urge to have some new activity :)
Now it has been 7 months, before we even started I took AMH test, according to that and also my other hormones my ovarian reserve and results are within norms for 30 year old. Plus history in my family where 3 closest female relatives got pregnant just about 41-42.
Our issue was already on our first 2 the sperm quality.
At first I took it easy as all other parts of my life are so fulfilling and great, and I was even happy that I got my AF as it meant I good keep practicing my freedom. But this month we went on a family trip where there were families with newborns, babies and toddlers and I have been crying after my BFN. Was already so hopful, as I never had any breasts soarness nor fatique like this time. Even DH said that am I positive again. First test gave a faint second line but more sensitive test 2 mornings later was with controlline only. Today my AF is due.
I only have 2 CB OPK s left so I hope those give anotger smiley face and there would be no need to buy another.

MrsJonesey · 10/09/2023 19:31

Welcome @MrsPepper82
There's still hope especially if you had a faint second line.
About 3 months ago I had 2 positive clear blues but they were false positives..couldn't believe it!
I'm having results AF now but still no BFP
Starting to think it's just not meant to be for us.
How's everybody else?
Any positive or exciting news from anyone?

I paused treatment over the summer as it didn’t work with holidays and having the kids at home so back on it now! I’m currently taking provera for 7 days to induce a period, then Clomid for 5 days then the ovitrelle injection once the scans show follicle is ready. We’ll try this for couple months and if nothing happens that we may stop treatment. I’m 43 in a couple weeks so have to draw a line somewhere

MrsPepper82 · 11/09/2023 16:19

MrsJonesey - i’m not sure there are such things as false positives if you do the test correctly and look timely, I think those are lines of not successful implantations.
I got what assumed yesterday, glad at least that my period is still on scheduele :D

Hariboislife - I also am wondering where to draw the line - statistics are dropping at 43 but would I be able not to try??

Now that there is no hope for this time I again am feeling like a normal person, but that DPO until it is possible to get realistic testlines is like I am loosing my mind :p But I take it easy on myself and say, that it is so huge thing and there is no way it could keep a woman cold. Especy because I already know how those tiny creatures feel like in your arms.

Hariboislife · 17/09/2023 20:42

Induced period started today so starting Clomid tomorrow - back on the wheel as it were 🤣

MrsJonesey · 18/09/2023 00:05

Fingers crossed @Hariboislife

@MrsPepper82 yeah I don't think they were actual positives probably evap lines..just unreal I had two in a row so got my hopes up!

Anyway I've stopped ovulation testing now and I'm just keeping an eye on my premom and Flo apps (which say totally different things in terms of cycle dates!) I am in the two week wait somewhere now I think!
Have very sore and sensitive Nicole's which is new!
Going on holiday a week on Friday..just as AF is due Confused I've got Nothisterone to take so will be testing before I do..fingers crossed!

MrsJonesey · 18/09/2023 00:06

Nicole's Grin
Meant nipples but autocorrect changed it.
From now on they shall be known as Nicole's!

MrsPepper82 · 18/09/2023 14:44

@Hariboislife good luck to us this time!!
@MrsJonesey hahhahaaa i know boobs have names but even nipples :D that’s a new one.

This cycle I bought smart watch to track my temperature and pulse, I hope it will cover my need to teat too early. But I always am totally normal till 8DPO :D And now that I think about all those negative tests that are done just too early and end up positive in future - not even sure I can trust result to take medicine.

MrsPepper82 · 18/09/2023 15:00

forgut to explain more - I am taking some supplements that are not ok if (no, WHEN) pregnant, I do at home infrared sauna, radiofrequency treatment, IPL, EMS & vacum treatments that I should skip for half a month and last month I took test 9DPO (mega sensitive - 5 units hcg would be detected) and when that was negative I started those treatments again, but I googled lately that 9DPO BFN can’ t be trusted so now I will probably age rapidly over those non treatment days :p

Holls81 · 19/09/2023 10:38

Hi all.
I hope you’re all keeping well.
I’m So nervous.
i have a scan at the fertility centre later today.
Does anyone know what they’ll be looking for? And if they’ll tell me anything today?

I’ve not really had any info from them, other than where to go!

MrsPepper82 · 19/09/2023 13:10

As I am located in another country I can’t really tell much about your scan. Here I got ultrasound where visual check off egg amount was checked, measurements of uterus, how tubes look like, are there some myomas etc somewhere, additonally blood tests during cycledays 5 and 22 (as my cycle is 29 days) - hormones and general vitamin d, folic asid, ferritine, infections and much much more was checked.
let us know how it went!!

Holls81 · 19/09/2023 17:20

Thanks @MrsPepper82

The sonographer just said it was general checks to make sure nothing obvious was getting in the way of us TTC. She said all looked ‘nice and normal’ and that I will get results of bloody tests and hubbys swimmers at our follow up appointment next month.
I feel so sick with nerves!

MrsPepper82 · 19/09/2023 17:28

That is generally good news then (as procedure was general :D )
I almost had tears of joy when good new regarding my check up came, before that it felt luke going to school exams without any preparation :D
I am waiting (not too eagerly as it’ s in Nov. ) swimmer test for DH.
last time it was after the initial results when the shock came due to 0% normal result. Next time it was 3^ already and very next we cancelled - already got my BFP :)

MrsPepper82 · 25/09/2023 16:26

this cycle began with small illness, I managed to pee too much on my last CB OPK so it gave error message instrad of a smiley face I was already used to. So same day bought some random one where I had to interprate lines, gosh it was hard, at first I thought it was almost the same as testline but not fully sure, then this morning I retested and it was kind of ligther but again not sure, so just to confirm the drop I did one more this evening and now this was positive and darker than c stripe. So me being ill postponed ov by one day as always in my case. Happy that I found out, AF delay even by one day would have driven wild.

So by tomorrow I will drop my supplements and beauty routines not fit for TTC 2WW time.

Hariboislife · 25/09/2023 16:29

Had my scan today. Clomid has worked very well, maybe too well! 6 follicles are growing so potentially 6 eggs….Lining isn’t thickening though so maybe that’s why we’re having issues. Consultant is as confused as I am as to why it just isn’t happening when all the numbers etc seem good.
Another scan on Wednesday.
7 days to my 43 birthday…. We’ll have to make a decision soon as to whether we carry on or draw a line under it.

MrsPepper82 · 25/09/2023 17:34

Oh wow 6 :D
understand your worry, not even 10 would help if lining is not growing. Hopefully it still has time to thicken when ladies are ready to pop.
Must say, it is truly one of the sadest decisions in life to make, I have not accepted that age related matter myself. Still am used to being noticed and talked to and attention that one has as a female, but to truly have age related restrictions, brrrrr I hate that.

MrsJonesey · 25/09/2023 19:37

Fingers are crossed very tightly for you @Hariboislife
We're almost at the stage of calling it a day too..AF came today..so disheartening isn't it.
We're off on holiday on Friday so I'm trying to be happy and relaxed and hopefully something will then happen. We've got 3 goes left!
Hope one of us gets some good news soon

Hi all, hope I can join. 💜 I am 43 (44 in jan) my OH is 34. We have been ttc since i had the marina coil removed in May. I have 2 older children aged 20 and 18. I fell pregnant in June this year but sadly miscarried (missed miscarriage) at 6/7 weeks and had a d&c. I’m taking proceive max and have done for 3 month now, omega 3 by procieve & raspberry leaf tea from cycle day 1 to ovu. I’ve also cut out caffeine, and alcahol. Just been to docs and had bloods done and going again on 20th for second lot.
I wish you all the best of luck! My doctor said to me that 40 is the new 30. X

Supertrooper101 · 09/11/2023 08:06

@Wen19 hi 🙂 , i need a dr like yours lol am 41 mmc in march, d&c and been trying since with no luck. Drs etc just say just keep trying.. age is kinda not on my side lol

MrsJonesey · 09/11/2023 08:15

Welcome @Wen19
I like your doctor! According to him/her I'm almost 31!
Still nothing happening for us. We have got one try left if we carry on with our initial plan of giving it a year!
DH is 50 in March (or 40?!) so we feel time ticking away. We may give it a little more time but im torn as to wether to go and see the GP. We're not sure how much 'help' we want to try. We've always said if it's meant to be it will be!
I had a job interview last week for a position I really want. If I get it, that will be the end of TTC due to maternity etc so..the universe will decide!
Best of luck to you all..keep posting please! I'm hoping to see some good news soon!

@Supertrooper101 we are in the same boat 💜 only I’m 43. 🤣 (33)
im currently waiting to ovulate. Just done my clear blue advanced and had 4 days of blank circles. Feeling a bit upset about it as I usually have a flashing smiley by now.
@MrsJonesey don’t give up 😘 and massive good luck with the job interview! Usually when something like that happens it will happen haha. If I am making sense.
im so annoyed with myself for leaving it this late to try with my current partner but we wanted to be sure and financially good. (Procieve max is now seeing to our finances anyway 😂) xx
