My daughter was born on the 18th centile. I’m only small so doubt I make big babies

NSx · 22/06/2023 20:35

@allgoodthings84 thats wild.

I imagine my midwife will measure my bump tomorrow for the first time. Will see how that pans out. I’m 5f3 but my OH is 6f1 - so it’s anyone’s guess the size this baby will come out 😂 I’m happy for them to come out average.
what do they check on growth scans, measurements of limbs etc ?

OP posts:
HoneyPea · 23/06/2023 05:02

@allgoodthings84 I will probably use Moses baskets from last time with a new mattress in, used them for about 4 months last time as son was quite small.
@NSx I'm 37 and wasn't offered it also been suffering with feeling really thirsty at night so thought they might but 🤷‍♀️
I'm on the risk of growth restriction pathway as DS was born on 6th percentile, this one is looking ok but it means we get to see him more which is nice 🩵 Have an appointment a few weeks to discuss if I want csection at 38 or 39 weeks and to set at date. Starting to feel real now!

NSx · 23/06/2023 11:24

@HoneyPea that’s so exciting. In my opinion the more times you get to see the baby the better. When el you think your date will be roughly?

I’m all done with my NHS scans for now unless something crops up (touch wood) and as we are not finding out the sex, I don’t know if I’ll do the 3d scan at 28 weeks, as I really don’t want to risk seeing anything 😂😂 …
I am quite happy they haven’t offered me the GD test as I’ve heard from several people that it’s horrible.

OP posts:
allgoodthings84 · 23/06/2023 12:15

@NSx they don’t start measuring bump until 28 weeks here as they don’t refer for growth scans until then as it’s even more inaccurate before this. At my growth scan they measured the femur, abdomen and head. They also checked the cord, amniotic fluid and placenta. They go by mothers height and weight not fathers so guessing it’s what you can carry. My daughter was on the smaller side when born but she’s pretty much average height now at 8 years old.

They focus on the face in a 4D scan especially if you tell them you don’t want to know the sex. They don’t show the genitalia in 4D anyway even if you’re happy to know. I already knew what we are having and they confirmed it on a normal scan and then on the 4D kept to to the face. It’s very strange though ha ha

NSx · 23/06/2023 13:40

@allgoodthings84 ah right ok, that’s useful info.

Just had my 22w appt, all good. Booked in for my next midwives appts. Nothing really interesting to report 😂 got to hear babies heartrate which was 150bpm 👶🏼🤍

OP posts:
allgoodthings84 · 23/06/2023 16:02

@NSx great that everything was ok. I had my 31 week appointment this afternoon. Baby still transverse which they will keep an eye on but as I’m c section anyway it’s not as much a concern as long as they know where she is at 36 weeks. Had some more blood tests and heartbeat checked. My urine is showing a trace of infection so being sent off to be checked. Had it before as was nothing thought but they like to be sure. Next appointment is in 3 weeks for pretty much same again

NSx · 23/06/2023 19:34

@allgoodthings84 at what week will you deliver ? not too long now for you eeek!
Excuse my ignorance but what is transverse? Do you remember what your babies heart rate was about 22w? The midwives have a theory that a girl has a faster heartbeat so faster than 140bpm 😂😅 ….
have you decided on a name? X

OP posts:
allgoodthings84 · 23/06/2023 20:47

@NSx my girls heart rate is always over 140. I know of boys who were too though and girls under 140 so don’t think it’s a solid theory 😂. I don’t know her exact heart rate as my midwife doesn’t tell me but at all private scans and my ctg monitoring it was over 140. She’s coming at 39+2 (hopefully she doesn’t make her own way sooner but doubt it considering she’s not even in position 😂). So 8 weeks on Monday. It seems like it’s been forever since I found out but guess the 2 losses in a row right before this pregnancy makes it seem even longer. Transverse is when the baby is laying across your stomach instead of breech or head down. They can’t be born naturally transverse but she’s a c section anyway. Still has lots of time to move as they don’t worry until 36 weeks. Most babies get head down between 28-32 weeks. I bet she won’t be head down in a week. She doesn’t do anything she’s meant to do 😂

HoneyPea · 23/06/2023 21:37

@NSx He will be coming between 27th Aug - 9th Sept. My little boy has his first day of reception on the 6th of Sept and I really want to be around to take him, also he came at 38wks so Im leaning towards asking for around 38 + 4 but not sure yet as they have then thrown in if I want steroid injections or not! So much to think about 😮
This little man has been head down the whole time whereas my son was breach from early on and never turned last time.
@allgoodthings84 8 weeks isn't long ❤️

allgoodthings84 · 23/06/2023 21:51

@HoneyPea nope not long. I go from wanting it to be longer as got so much to sort but I’m getting so uncomfortable now (mainly because she’s high up transverse) that I want her out. I definitely want her to stay there until c section date though as everything is planned around it

NSx · 24/06/2023 12:37

@allgoodthings84 8 weeks is not long at all. That will fly in 🥰 …
yea I agree it’s not a solid theory at all, but it’s fun to guess 😂. I’m leaning towards a girl, my partner thinks boy. We shall see come October.
Don’t worry, my baby is stubborn too and never wants to play ball at any of my scans 😂😅 …

@HoneyPea so you are also not too far behind @allgoodthings84 then. How exciting!! you still have a while to make the last decisions; so don’t worry 🤍

OP posts:
allgoodthings84 · 24/06/2023 18:29

@NSx if baby doesn’t play ball now trust me it gets worse later on in pregnancy 😂. I agree if your baby is being a diva then probably a girl 😂 you’ve done well not to find out! I had to know with both mine.

NatGee · 26/06/2023 14:56

Hello hello ladies sorry ive been quiet on here so many updates from you all how great!

@NSx how exciting to now want to find out the gender. in an age where nothing is left as a surprise, its nice to keep a shroud of mystery on something !

@allgoodthings84 hope you have a nice pregnancy pillow keeping you less uncomfortable than you would be otherwise. Fingers crossed baby doesnt come before your csection, i hate it when things dont go to plan. Have your urine results come back yet?

@HoneyPea have you decided when you want your csection ? its nice to know when your baby will be here, really lets you plan. Did you ever find out why your ds was on the 6th percentile? do you have to have extra scans now?

So I am 21 weeks now with a baby whose sex we decided not to find out. Theyre a wriggly little thing and even saw them sucking their thumb!
I have been told I need to have a GD glucose test because my mother had diabetes, albeit type 2 (they don't care) and i'm not looking forward to that at all. Had a uti early in the pregnancy and had to take antibiotics for five days. Also caught a couple of colds in my first trimester which were not fun either but thank god I had no temperature, i just felt poorly

In my 20 week scan last week the sonographer picked up echogenicity in the bowel of the baby so I was referred to a consultant and had a follow up scan two days later. The baby's tummy didn't look as bad as in the first scan but they want to monitor me and placed me under consultant care. They are doing further screening and bloods were submitted for for TORC, cystic fibrosis and the NHS' NIPT (combined test at 12 weeks showed low probability of anomalies)

All other markers and measurements are normal, but they got worried about this echogenic bowel in the baby. I am feeling positive but also have it in mind that things may not go to plan and accepting that in my heart.

The consultant I saw also measured my uterine arterial resistance with a doppler and said there was high resistance and told me to take aspirin for it. I didnt even know this was something they did and was surprised (so was she) because I dont have high blood pressure so again, another thing to worry about !

Apart from that all is going well, bump is growing and I feel great, no swelling, nausea, tiredness, or excessive hunger/thirst. Not started on the nursery yet but ive been getting a few free/cheap things online. Ah @NSx I was inspired by your choice of a pram and went and got an Egg system too, they look great dont they?

NSx · 26/06/2023 15:20

@NatGee Lovely to hear from you 🤍✨ glad things are going well. With regards to The echogenic bowel I had to read up to see what it was. I know it can be worrying but I’ve read good outcomes of upto 90% of babies being absolutely fine so stay hopeful & I hope it all resolves itself!
I also didn’t know about uterine arterial resistance 😅 feel like every day is a school day!
I am glad you’re feeling better ❣️ I too am feeling much better, I’m almost 23 weeks, so just a couple weeks before you 🩵
I agree that it’s one of life’s little surprises that are left, do you have an inkling if it’s a girl or boy ??
what colour did u go for in the Egg? I think I mentioned I went for the Mink one, love them! X

OP posts:
NSx · 26/06/2023 15:26

@allgoodthings84 😂😂😂 yes I have a feeling it’s a stubborn little girl but could be wrong - time will tell 🩷🩵

OP posts:
NatGee · 26/06/2023 23:50

@NSx mink is a lovely colour, great choice. And will go with either a boy or girl but im sure you gave that very careful thought! Im v vanilla so went with the quartz :). Lots of lovely colours but my husband wouldnt go for anything else sadly! Had to be that or black.... why are men so boring?

Thanks for the stats, v reassuring 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

NSx · 27/06/2023 08:12

@NatGee well thats it, I liked the feather but it was too light and unpractical and not really ideal for a boy. The mink by far was my favourite choice and thank goodness my OH was happy to go with whatever I chose 😂🤎 … the quartz is lovely 😍 I saw some good deals online for it, if you haven’t purchased already.
Honestly I know it’s easier said than done, as human beings we tend to worry a lot, but just wait and see how it all pans out, it may be something absolutely minimal in the end & you don’t want to get yourself all stressed and worked up 🤍 … when’s your next appt?

OP posts:
HoneyPea · 27/06/2023 13:48

@NatGee Think I'm leaning towards the end of 38wks if possible. No idea why DS was small but I'm way under 5foot so it's not surprising really!!! Scans every 4wks on growth restriction pathway because of DS.
Don't know much about the echogenicity in the bowel but hoping everything turns out well for you 😘

A

NatGee · 28/06/2023 14:22

@NSx yeah we got it already, itll be one of two pricey purchases. that and a 7-in-1 cot which should grow with the baby so a good investment. The rest I am looking to get cheaply, either second hand or free.
Thanks for the support @NSx @HoneyPea I booked a private scan for next Thursday as id like to actually get a measure of blood flow into the placenta before we go on holiday. I will be having scans on the NHS every month from now on too, the next one will be in august.

I suppose you are all now ready to get buying and decorating your nurseries now that we're all past the 20 week mark. This is where it begins getting exciting. I am so full of energy, just want to clean the house and get things ready. Also really wanted to have gone on a holiday abroad now in June but it didnt happen. Is any of you planning a holiday before baby comes?
@allgoodthings84 how are you feeling since youre way ahead of me. Any tiredness yet?

allgoodthings84 · 28/06/2023 14:57

@NatGee I hope everything will be fine 💕

I’m bloody exhausted as can’t sleep at night and get horrendous heartburn and baby is still up high so get breathless and uncomfortable all the time. The bump just feels so heavy as I’m only 5ft with a small frame and when I get too hot I feel like I’m going to faint if I don’t sit down right away. Am I selling third trimester? 😂. Second trimester was amazing I miss how I felt then. I really wish I had got everything sorted back then.

I don’t have a nursery for baby until we move next year so everything needs to fit into my bedroom which is the issue 🤦🏻‍♀️. I know how it will work now though just need to get it all sorted. I’m only in a 2 bedroom house at the moment and my 8 year old daughter is in the second bedroom and there’s not enough room in there for a cot as well as everything that’s already in there.

No holiday here. My daughter is at school and when she finishes for summer (in just over 2 weeks!) I’ll be 34 weeks and wanting to mostly sit down 😂. Would love a holiday abroad before baby comes but that definitely won’t happen.

NSx · 28/06/2023 18:18

@NatGee my pram doesn’t come until end of July start of August ✨🤎 so need to wait but I guess I’m in no rush. My babies bedroom furniture comes on Wednesday next week which I’m excited about. We have our chico next to me, so ideally I just want to get a Moses basket and that’s all the big things bought. We have painted the nursery but want to add some panelling and decorate it a bit once we have the furniture up. We went and bought some neutral baby clothes out of next today which was nice ❣️… it’s all starting to feel a bit more real now.
All those extra scans will be lovely, I’m done with my scans now unless I get a private one 😂which we haven’t decided about yet.
Yes we’re going on holiday to Marrakech for a week end of August, I’ve already booked in with my midwife a few days before to get a fit2fly cert as I will be 31weeks by then. I can’t wait 😜 …
Are you still thinking of going ?

Hi ladies 🤍 how are u all? @HoneyPea @NatGee @allgoodthings84

OP posts:
NatGee · 03/08/2023 16:54

@NSx hey! nice to hear from you. how are you doing? All OK here, 26 weeks on Saturday, where's time going
Starting to get excited now about baby's arrival - we chose not to find out the gender so are decorating the nursery in a very neutral palette. Sorting out through baby clothes too and just getting organised for their arrival generally
Have you got your egg pram yet? Is your nursery all done now, since you got your bits a while back now? Would love to see it :) Looking forward to your babymoon? We may go somewhere in September just for a couple of days. I want it to be just my DH and I but he dreads to part with the dog.... so we'll see how that goes !

allgoodthings84 · 03/08/2023 17:11

Hi all. I’m all good. Nearing the end now. I have 2 weeks 4 days until my c section date 😮 just got to put the next to me bed put together then everything is ready apart from my head 😂

how is everyone feeling?
