Thread no 2 as thread 1 was so close to getting full!

As a reminder this is a positive support thread for anyone preparing and planning to start TTC in 2023 💖

If you join start by introducing yourself with your age. what no. you're trying for and when you plan on starting plus any goals you might have before then! for example:

@DanisEndo
Age 27
TTC No.1
Starting Sep 23
I want to:

  • loose some weight (would like to get down to a healthy BMI by exercising and doing all home cooking, nothing to major or restrictive)
  • do some decorating around the house
  • get married (1st September woooo!)
  • change job / company
I have endometriosis and PCOS, 2 surgeries down and hoping I'll still be all clear by the time we get to trying.

Theres a long list of us now so bare with me updating it as we go 😅

Good luck everyone!!!

@Jennifer89 sorry to hear you’re feeling like that, I’ve been feeling the exact same this month too, really struggling. I had a MMC last year (found out at 13 weeks) and have been trying again since September and nothing so far, really starting to get me down. Also have quite a few pregnant friends atm and finding it a bit triggering at times although I am absolutely delighted for them all. Just wanted to say you’re not alone in the way you’re feeling 💗

Take x2 of conceive plus? Is it not a lubricant?

Sorry what's ewcm? And luteal phase? Sorry I don't know any of this! Xxx

Ah I take the supplements, I don’t use the lubricant.

Ewcm is egg white cervical mucous (what you produce when you’re fertile.
luteal phase is the time between ovulation and AF. It generally doesn’t ever change. So mines a 12 day LP

Jennifer89 · 06/02/2023 18:55

@DollyGx thank you, helps to know others feel the same. and sorry to hear, hope you get your miracle baby soon 💐TTC can be such a journey and I guess because we don't know other women's struggles as many don't talk about it openly it is easy to assume others have it easy..

Summer022 · 06/02/2023 20:22

Feeling super anxious today. Only 5dpo on cycle #2 but just can’t shake this feeling of that I won’t be able to conceive. This is totally irrational and I just need to try and be patient but please somebody assure me this is normal?! 😬 It seems to be all I think about lately. It’s such a worry but I need to try and let it be what it’ll be. It’s so hard when all I see everyday is pregnancy announcements 😞

Thank you for this! I will need to do more research on all this it would seem xxx

Oooo OK, conceive plus is a winner then, good to know, thank you!
What is calculated fluor tissue salts?? And what did Tim spector do to put you off calcium tablets?! Lol confused lol I think mine are magnesium, calcium and zinc tablets, all in one lol xxx

Calc Fluor tablets can support implantation during the two week wait! The first time I used them when I was TTC my son, I fell pregnant! They seem harmless (kids can take them) and have other benefits so worth it in my opinion. 😊

Well, I have his book next to my bed but haven't started it yet! But on the Diary of a CEO podcast he said calcium vitamins can clog arteries because the body can't absorb it... So he says its bad for your blood vessels and heart. Could be aimed more at older folk, I'm not sure! He's anti most of vitamins tbh but calls calls calcium dangerous. I'm not stopping taking my vitamins when TTC although obviously it's better to get them from food 😅

LeopardLover · 06/02/2023 21:08

@Summer022 I totally understand and felt the same, especially during cycle 2! It's hard when you see pregnancy announcements everywhere but it really is early days! Hang in there.

LeopardLover · 06/02/2023 21:13

@Jennifer89 I found it really hard hearing about pregnancies when I was TTC the first time. It just takes over your brain! I also understand about not being too excited. I only got excited after the 20 week scan with my son! I plan to get a private NIPT scan this time round so it's less of a wait.

@buckingmad Do you and OH work from home? I'm so jealous! Would much prefer to DTD with loads of energy in the day 😅 my son doesn't really nap though so it wouldn't work. But still!

O wow, OK, thank you for letting me know!

So confused by it all! I don't understand how to track ovulation etc. I have ab app I put my AF on and it says when fertile days are and when ovulation is.. however I don't know if that's accurate (even If I am on AF on time each month, give or take a day)..
I see ovulation tests? And tracking temperature? And there is certain phases? Xxx

So you can track your ovulation two ways - by using OPKs (ovulation predictor kits) or by taking your BBT (basal body temperature). Or you can do both for good measure! There are lots of different OPKs available, but I recommend the clear blue digital one as it's really easy to use. Your new cycle starts the first day of your period, and a woman on a 28 day cycle would generally take ovulate around day 14. But to make sure you don't miss ovulation, you can start using the OPKs before this. I'd generally start on CD9 (cycle day 9). They work like pregnancy tests! If you do a Google you'll find a good explanation. Although your app might predict ovulation, you only know for sure through testing.

With BBT it's a bit trickier, but you take your temperature with a sensitive thermometer every day at the same time. Temperature fluctuations can show ovulation and pregnancy. I found BBT the most stressful part of trying to conceive last time but that's me, I was getting a bit obsessive!

TrudyProud · 07/02/2023 03:16

@Floralsandsmiles I agree with @LeopardLover the only way to really know is to test. Though more expensive I 2nd CB OPK. I used them with DD and between our honeymoon phase and knowing I was definitely ovulating conceived cycle #1. The kit showed me I was ovulating a few days later than my trackers predicted so without the OPK I'd definitely have missed my fertile window.

This time around I'll have a c.1yo so will definitely need those CB kits as won't have the time/energy to DTD as frequently as before.

Floralsandsmiles · 07/02/2023 05:08

@LeopardLover @TrudyProud thank you both so much for taking the time to explain this all to me! I will get the CB ovulation kits then and start testing from CD9. Do you use a separate app for tracking that? As that looks very complex!lol xxx

Floralsandsmiles · 07/02/2023 05:25

O god and now there are x2 CB ovulation kits lol normal which is 2.most fertile days and the advanced which is 4 most! Lol xxx

AL1424 · 07/02/2023 06:50

Hi all hope okay to join this thread? I’m 31, TTC 1, cycle #1 - haven’t really been “not trying” since coming off the pill in March last year, however have just been diagnosed with cystic ovaries (not the syndrome just to make me even more confused!). Using CB OPK’s this cycle and tracking it a lot more closely - fingers crossed this is the month.

How is everyone getting on? I am becoming totally obsessed with anything and everything TTC!!! x

SMG1992 · 07/02/2023 10:01

I think I might have been a bit stupid!!

I had a MMC 3 weeks ago and my pregnancy test was very very faint last week and ovulation test showed that I was ovulating so went full steam ahead with DTD.
But I had to take a pregnancy test this morning which should be completely negative to show all is done with the MC but the line is still there, it's actually got darker!
Just got off the phone to doctor at EPU and I need to go in for a scan on Thursday, if there is tissue left from MC then I'll need a D&C and the environment wouldn't be suitable for a new pregnancy to go ahead any way.

What a mess! I should have waited but the thought of trying again was too much to resist :(
Hopefully this will all be sorted and my body will be ready to TTC in March

WolfMother326 · 07/02/2023 10:20

Hi all. I am in the two week wait and feeling nuts with it. Feeling crampy and cranky (had both first time I fell pregnant). But not sure when I ovulated. Period not due for about 9 days so pointless to worry about it I guess... We were waiting til April/May for good reasons and now I am half hopeful, half worried it worked!

Hopefulhoney6 · 07/02/2023 10:25

@DollyGx I feel exactly the same as you - had a MMC in December and my periods haven’t returned so now I’m just all in my head about it. So many friends pregnant (many with their second babies), colleagues announcing pregnancies etc etc. I’m trying to just do fun stuff and forget about it, but it’s hard to not be in a negative mindset sometimes!!

@Floralsandsmiles - order The Impatient Womens Guide to Getting Pregnant, a short book helping with all of the tracking etc. I found out through BBT that I ovulate on CD18 (although my body is not mucked up after my miscarriage seemingly!).

DollyGx · 07/02/2023 10:45

@Hopefulhoney6 aww I’m sorry you’re feeling the same way, I feel bad because I know there are so many women who have been trying soooo much longer than me, but it still gets me down. Yeah I’m just trying to keep myself busy with nice things too. I put off so many things for so long because I thought I would be pregnant, but now I’m taking a more fuck it approach and just doing/booking all the things 😅 fingers crossed your periods return soon, I think mines took about 6 weeks to come back, but I had a friend who’s took at least 8 weeks, possibly longer to return, really frustrating I know!

This month I was disappointed AF arrived but not as sad as previous months as I told myself not to get too excited about potentially being pregnant. I think in a way that helps me to not get my hopes up too much.
Now it's just the usual countdown of waiting for ttc days again. Going to give the clear blue ovulation sticks ago as think I may prefer the smiley faces to reading the lines on the cheap sticks. 😅

I'm sorry @Hopefulhoney6 for your MMC. And for feeling abit of a negative mindset and all the other happy news with colleagues etc.. I will be honest and say I am finding it difficult to be around this type of news too xxx

@Summer022 It's so hard, I really understand that feeling. It took us 9 months to conceive the first time and I was terrified something was wrong. But on average it takes most people up to 6 months-1 year even when they are healthy. The best thing to do is just relax, take lots of walks/fresh air and try to trust your body. In most cases it will work out, and if not there are so many medical things that can help you if you need them. But it probably won't come to that. You will get a beautiful baby!

LegalLights · 07/02/2023 11:48

Hi all :) just jumping on the thread

Age - 37
TTC - Baby number 3
Started - Earlier this month

We've just moved into a new house and will be hoping to build an extension (partly with the intention of housing a new arrival 🤞) and my other main aim this year is not annoying my work too much. My youngest is 3 now but it still feels like I only recently came off Mat Leave. I'm thinking if I do manage to get pregnant again there'll be some mutterings!

Kittenmum89 · 07/02/2023 13:52

Hi Ladies,

Hope it is ok to jump on this, I am 33, TTC no1, 4th cycle and 4 DPO. I currently take -
Folic Acid x 1
COQ10 3x 300mg
DHA's x 2.

Felt odd the last 2 days can't out my finger on it but almost like fuzzy like, nausea on and off but not sure if that me just symptom spotting and making myself feel that way.
