I don't know if there are any threads already started but I've just officially found out I've got PCOS this morning - I've always known deep down. Please tell me it's not all bad I'm feeling very sorry for myself.
We've been TTC for 6 months - only 3 cycles. I supposedly ovulated on CD36 (now CD43) this cycle. Gynae reckons not preg cos uterus lining would've thickened. (Had a scan this morning)

Any hints/tips on treatment/TTC?
How to deal with symptoms?

How did Posh spice and Jools Oliver manage to fall preg?

Hi - this thread is a little out of date. We've got some more information on PCOS here. MNHQ

I love this thread - so much of useful and helpful info - WOW. Have got PCOS, am on that path to conceiving my first. It is scary and nervewrecking and the uniqueness of PCOS to each individual adds to it.

History:
Dec 09: Diagnosed with PCOS at Age 34
Jan 10: Ovarian drilling and laproscopy - Hormones checked out ok at start of cycle, Ovaries were PCO at scan, HSG was inconclusive -- hence the procedure. Tubes checked out ok. Ovaries were treated by did not ovulate the next month though periods are regular.
Feb 10: Clomid 50 - Blood test confirmed ovulation, not pregnant.
Mar 10: Clomid 50 - Did not ovulate.
Apr - July: Got referred to NHS clinic - Went through one cycle of follicle monitoring - Follicle grew to 18mm but did not ovulate.
Aug: Clomid 50 - Did not ovulate THOUGH the progesterone test was done on CD18 (how weird!!)
Sept: No Clomid because day 2 scan showed that there was a cyst in right ovary - 15mm
Oct: Waiting for AF so that I can go for another day 2 scan and see if I need to start Clomid again.

I am really frustrated with my consultants who are mostly non-communicative and don't team well with the scanning team -- So this year has seen a on-off, on-off treatment pattern.

Weight - I am overweight but have managed to lose one stone since I found out. The good part of all of this is figuring out a proper diet and exercise pattern that helps me consisitently drop the weight. I hope to stick with this regardless of what happens in the TTC space.

Q for Attila or anyone else: Any tips on ovulation - - My tests seem to say that the hormones are ok and a dominant follicle does grow....but it seems like they fail to ovulate despite Clomid. Consultant is hesitant to increase Clomid dosage because I did ovulate once under it. Am not sure what else I need to be doing or asking for.

I was told I have PCOS last year. I already have a child. I would like to start ttc number 2 this year, so should I be going to the doctor to ask for advice etc now, or leave it until I have been trying for a while?

It took a year to conceive last time, and I was 23 then.

I don't seem to have any spymptoms of PCOS, which I am happy yet confused about.

Oh, I do have long cycles, of about 30-35 days, but I'm on the pill now.

Hi, I'm new to this..I'm so glad I've come across this site.i really need some reassurance.so December 2012 I came of the pill no reason in particular mainly due to forgetfulness..only used for contraception for 4/5 years from age 16 I think. Since coming off it's been a nightmare I didn't have a period for 11 months obviously went to the gp for that reason about 3/4 times and they said it's was normal. 18 months on I've got excessive hair everywhere, irregular periods and weight gain even though quite frankly I eat less than I ever have done (I used to eat like a horse) however I'm still not overweight but have a tubby belly and doing regular exercise and watching what I eat. For over a year my partner and I have not used contraception but not have we tried to conceive and it has never happened upto now. I went to the go and finally they took blood which is normal and have forwarded me on for an ultrasound for pcos(about time) and they will then will refer us to a fertility clinic(which may take a while I don't know) after speaking to a friend (the same day told me she was pregnant) she said quite negative things about pcos and I don't know much myself apart from googling so hearing ur stories has been quite reassuring.we have decided to start trying but I am really not sure were to begin I don't often have periods and I don't know what to look out for or when. Where do we start??
