I don't know if there are any threads already started but I've just officially found out I've got PCOS this morning - I've always known deep down. Please tell me it's not all bad I'm feeling very sorry for myself.
We've been TTC for 6 months - only 3 cycles. I supposedly ovulated on CD36 (now CD43) this cycle. Gynae reckons not preg cos uterus lining would've thickened. (Had a scan this morning)

Any hints/tips on treatment/TTC?
How to deal with symptoms?

How did Posh spice and Jools Oliver manage to fall preg?

Hi - this thread is a little out of date. We've got some more information on PCOS here. MNHQ

cam75 · 04/08/2008 22:36

lauralou,

i hate the way dr's are keeping on saying lose weight lose weight, they don't understand how hard it is.
I am ok just waiting to see if i am pg or not, i feel like af is coming?????
This is crazy isn't it. Glad your ok, don't you find the scanning and stuff hard, ure looking at things and wanting more to happen??
how many more cycle on clomid do you have?

DungunGirl · 05/08/2008 08:30

Morning ladies!!!!

It is official...Clearblue digital gave me a BFP this morning!
And so did Boots own brand stick!
(Couldn't help myself...had to be double sure!)

HOORAY!!!!

Now....the worrying begins.....I had my MC at 6.5 weeks the last time....so.....I am going to be biting my nails as time ticks.....

I don't feel like telling mg GP yet as if I MC I will have to go through the cancelling of Midwife appointments all over again....

However, as I have had one MC I am allowed an early scan ( 6-7 weeks ) to be sure all is well. And I think only my GP can book that...ohhhh I don;t know...

DungunGirl · 05/08/2008 08:34

lauralou and cam75

I know what you mean about how they harp on about weight.
Unfortunately it is true that it helps with the symptoms of our PCOS but bloody hell....I mean give us a break!

I am at the end of another week of slimfast...blluuurrghhh

I did lose almost 2 pounds in the first 4 days though...so that is good as my weight has been static for the last 6 weeks or more!

Just realised as well that Slimfast is Low GI!!!! It says it on the bottle!

Great news Lauralou that there are some big ole follicles ripening! I can feel success just round the corner for you!

Cam75 - all the appointments and scanning and prodding does get tiring...the things we do eh! The men don;t know the half of it!

cam75 · 05/08/2008 09:37

dungungirl
YOU DID IT CONGRATULATIONS(GRIN)

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

if it gods will you will be fine. Just enjoy and relax....
HUgs and kisses to you. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

GYo · 05/08/2008 11:02

Congratulations Dungungirl!

So happy for you. Do you have an EDD?

Thats our third PCOS BFP in just over a month!

Keep them coming ladies- this just proves that its possible!

I know its hard not to worry- I've been nightmare but try and enjoy it too.

DungunGirl · 05/08/2008 12:57

Thanks everyone!

What do you all think....

Dh and I are in disagreement as to whether I should inform my GP yet.

DH thinks that considering the last time, best wait and see first, but I am not sure...

I mean with PCOS and all, surely the sooner I get booked in, the sooner the GP can book me in for an early scan. And surely, the sooner i inform them, the easier it will be if i am having complications to then be seen at the EPU if there are any problems?

Also, I am wondering whether I should be pushing someone...god knows who! To be seen at the 'Endocrine disorders in pregnancy' clinic that runs at my local hospital.

Arrghhh...so much to think about!

What would you guys do?

GYO
What did you get told once you found out? Did you get seen by anyone special?

cam75 · 05/08/2008 13:29

i think you should tell your gp just so that you are montiored and stuff.
You didn't even start your treatment yet it is good!!!! how did you do it?

As much as i would want to keep it to myself i would let them know and that way they will keep an eye on you.

You should go see the dr that was so mean to you and say two fingers to you mate i am pg!!!!

Moonlit · 05/08/2008 13:51

DungunGirl - I have just woken up and read your good news! I am so pleased for you. Please, please remain positive, and most definetely tell you GP, because you need an early scan after the MC you had. There are drugs they could give you to keep this a viable pregnancy.

Also, are you taking all your vitamins etc.? I am so pleased for your my darling. Lets hope it's me soon. I have now lost 1 stone whilst I have been here in the US, from running around after the kids and doing the Atkins. I know Atilla will be cross with me. But I am desparate now, it will be 2 years of TTC #2. Anyway, lets see what happens.

Good luck!

x

DungunGirl · 05/08/2008 15:02

cam75 and moonlit

Thanks for the advice! I think I will tell DH that it will be safer/better to just inform the GP. I know he will moan and say that if the worse happens I will be moaning about having to cancel appointments etc...

But hey...better safe than sorry eh!

To tell the truth, as much as it irritates me to admit this...( you can't believe how much I don;t want to admit it! ) I think the fact that I lost 2 stone has been the main thing that has got things moving again.

I am at almost the same weight I was when I was preggers with my DS.

I think I may have just tipped into the weight range that my body responds better to.

Last month's period was back to how my periods used to be before the days of my PCOS! So it is very spooky that this month it has happened!

I just hope that it is sticky pea this time and that I am not taking a week off work again in 2 weeks time!!!!!

moonlit
Well done on losing a stone!
I know how you feel, it has been 20 months ( almost 2 years ) since we started trying and here I am today.

Lets just hope it isn't over before it has begun eh!!!

Moonlit · 05/08/2008 15:49

Ahhh thanks DungunGirl !

I never thought i would be able to loose any weight. But it's coming off finally. I was going to have a HSG, and if my DH had come back Clomid with IUI (all privately here in the US) because it's half the price compared to the UK. But i decided to loose the weight instead. Because, I know it's my weight that is preventing me from getting pregnant.

I agree with you, I think it's your weight loss and due to exercise and healthy eating that has kicked started your ovaries again. Lets hope weight loss helps me too

Don't run off now, just because you are pregnant
Fruity has disappeared and left us .

FruitynNutty · 05/08/2008 15:53

NO I haven't!!! Sorry, I've been in a complete head fog for the last few weeks! Just gonna have a read through the posts now
As if I'd EVER leave you lot! xx

FruitynNutty · 05/08/2008 15:56

OH MY FLIPPING GOD! I just skim read this page and look what I find, another BFP!
C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S Dungun!!!!
Wow I bet you're wired to the moon

DungunGirl · 05/08/2008 16:08

Thanks Fruity! Nice to see you back!

I am really happy but it is laced with a good lump of doubt and worry.

I am worrying that I will have a repeat early MC...so I am being very guarded about how estatic I get,....

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE CONGRATS though!!!!

Now please pray that it is a sticky one!

Moonlit · 05/08/2008 16:11

Fruity - How are you hun? and how is your little bean? Please tell all!!!!

x

FruitynNutty · 05/08/2008 16:14

Janeandben I agree with sars you would never ttc if you work out how much the little blighters cost. We can't afford a new baby. We couldn't afford DS but he turned out very happy, loved, and spoiled by friends and family
Geogirl I felt like you when I first discovered I had PCOS. You can probably tell from my OP. In fact I felt like this pretty much all the time. Even though I already had 1 DS. I called him my miracle child and assumed it would never happen again I am now thanking my lucky stars as I am now pregnant after only 11 months ttc, only 5 cycles and only two of these cycles were ovulatory so it can happen. Stick around here, these girls are a fantastic support Whatever you do DONT GIVE UP!!!!
GYo how's it going with you? I gave up on the "due in March" thread as it got soooo big I kept losing track. We have a smaller ante-natal thread with some of the girls from Emmsy's waiting room. Have you had a dating scan yet? I had one at just under 5 weeks then another 2 weeks later. My pic is on my profile
About the hair loss, I think it;s very common during pregnancy. Usually just at the beginning then your hair will be full of volume Then when you've had the baby it'll fall out again Are you taking Pregnacare or something similar? Not only has Folic Acid but lots of other wonderful ingredients which are great for hair, skin and nails

FruitynNutty · 05/08/2008 16:28

Dungun You must enjoy every minute if this pregnancy. Please don't spend this precious time worrying. I know it's hard. I've worried about every little niggle.
Book in for your dating scan, have fun, get excited! You really must. You want to give this little beany all the hope and excitement in the world It'll all be fine

Moonlit My little bean (or Button as it seems to be known by) is doing great thanks. I'm still only 7 weeks so early days still but the sonographer says everything looks really good. You'll see the picture on my profile. I keep looking at real life pictures on the internet of a 7 week embryo and am just amazed as to how formed they are so early on
I'm getting the usual symptoms. Extreme tiredness and a constant travel sickness feeling, still can't complain! I've been very naughty and told almost everyone already The way I see it is, if it were to go horribly wrong, then I'll need the support of my friends and family. If I didn't tell them they'd think I was a miserable cow. Anyway, it's been really hard not to say anything as I would have had to explain away my reason for no alcohol and why I feel so rough!
Also my belly has really swelled. I have been eating loads but relative to the rest of my body it's huge and they say you look pregnant from day one when it's you 2nd

How are you doing moonlit?

DungunGirl · 06/08/2008 08:38

fruity

I had a look at your scan! Button is beautiful!
I can't believe he/she looks like that already.

Hope you are feeling well. Any symptoms?
What prompted me to test this month was that I started getting really sore and hot boobs...

Also I am getting a really aching hips/ lower back when I get up in the morning. It goes after a while, but seems that lying in bed at night does it!

I am feeling the odd twinge and also after I have emptied a full bladder, my whole 'uterus' area feels a little tender for a little while. Is that normal?

Are you being monitored at all because of the PCOS?

There is a clinic at my hospital called the ENDOCRINE DISORDERS IN PREGNANCY clinic and my PCOS consultant told me to get my GP to refer me there as soon as and I will be looked after with my PCOS in mind.

So got to get on the phone today!

FruitynNutty · 06/08/2008 13:56

LOL dungun! Button just looks like a cloud of molecules to me But yes I agree, beautiful

You will get all sorts of aches and pains and niggles at the beginning. It will make you worry but it's just beany nestling in and your uterus/hips adjusting

I was scared to move when I 1st found out but then I thought back to when I was preg with DS and I didn't know until I was 7 weeks. I spent those 7 weeks so unaware that I was exercising and partying like a mad woman and DS turned out just fine

I'm not being monitored but I think they'll send me off for a one off appointment with the Endocrinologist as I also have an underactive thyroid so my medication might need adjusting. I only saw him once during my last pregnancy but this was with a different hospital. No idea how St.George's will handle it. I would quite like to see some one regularly as I am desperate to be able to breast feed this time round so might need some help with milk stimulation as I barely had any last time

Tigerschick · 06/08/2008 14:00

Oh My God!!

I haven't been on this thread for quite a while but thought I'd give it a quick glace and what do I see??

Fruity and Dungun both up the duff!?!?

Huge congratulations to you both
