fast asleep - come in hon, and join us, u'll soon be mad like us. Would prob say the test was invalid and test again, there's one from Wilkos it's about £3.00 I think if money's a bit tight. that's meant to be good.

jingleballs · 07/12/2004 09:18

Right then, off to do some work (the girl who's got the internet on her comp is out today so I can stop in more ..... wooohooo!)

hester · 07/12/2004 09:20

fastasleep, I'm sorry I don't know about your test. You certainly need to retest - sympathies about the cost - how many days late are you?

Btw, I can't imagine why you feel you 'shouldn't even be here at my age'. If you're past puberty and pre-pension and you want a baby this is exactly where you should be! Welcome Smile

Sorry for posting twice.

rudy - in theory there is no point BDing after you have ovulated, but the question is: how do you know exactly when that was? Your two O days show you have high levels of luteinizing hormone and so that you will probably ovulate over the next 36 hours. But none of this is an exact science. In your position I would probably think through what time of day I detected the LH surge, what time of day I could BD, and how long the gap in between. In other words, if I detected a surge first thing in the morning, and could only BD late at night two days later, I may judge that the gap was too wide. If I could BD in the morning two days later, I may go for it.

Having said that, I have to travel across London to get sperm - you only have to cuddle up with your dh! So you may judge that it's worth the slim opportunity because the costs are so low. Depends how much you're in the mood for BDing, I guess Wink.

hester · 07/12/2004 09:27

Ooh jb, I'd love some patterns! Should I CAT you?

fastasleep · 07/12/2004 09:27

My hubby left money on the table - lol at that sentence, I'm such a kept woman! Anyway he left money on the table yesterday to go out and buy tests, but I live too far from any shops other than the local superdrug, and a) I don't want another BFN cos I'm going to cry, lots lol, and b) they looked at me funnily in the shop last time I went in and bought my third box of pg tests that month!! But I might pluck up the courage, should I wait till tomorrow to test now for the erm...first pee thing? Blush god all this talking of wee!! I haven't drunk anything this morning yet, would it still be alright? God help me I said I wouldn't test again Sad wah!! I wonder if I can be brave enough to buy sanitary towels and a test at the same time, they must think I'm a loon..

You're going to kick me off when I say this - I'm 17 (don't cringe, pleeease) and even worse! I have a DS, he's Blush 9.5 mos, but after getting a faint positive whilst breastfeeding and then..well you know.. it's been hounding me, until I finally gave in to the bug when I stopped breastfeeding...

I am married though, we have our own house and he earns enough to keep us, I'm a 40yr old in a 17yr old's body, I plan on having two babies, getting a higher education etc and then waiting till a more respectable age (35ish) and then I plan on having 2 more! :o - I always have to add that after spilling the beans!!!

fastasleep · 07/12/2004 09:28

I'm 6 days late! By the way, sorry missed your post Hester... I've never been this late, ever!

RudyDudy · 07/12/2004 09:33

thanks for that hester - this month I have no idea when I O'd at all - no help from persona and no noticeable change in cm so i'm thinking that we should as you never know and as you say there is no real reason not to!

RudyDudy · 07/12/2004 09:36

hi fastasleep (god, that's how I feel Grin) welcome Smile

does sound promising. I sympathise with the embarassment factor but surely it's better that than the insanity of wanting to test?!

cockenzie · 07/12/2004 09:38

fastasleep-if u are 17 and already have a ds and try now for no2 i am going to throw u off the boat!!hehe...big huggs for u

fastasleep · 07/12/2004 09:40

Alright then, I'm going, right now (after I've put clothes on and fed the poor little man downstairs and then decided I'm not going and then looked in the mirror and said 'I AM GOING' three times...lol) I'm going to get 2 yes, 2 clearblue!! Wink one for now and one for tomorrow! I hope it isn't that strange old woman at the till again, she always looks at the baby, looks at me, back at the baby, then at the third box of preg tests that month and then at me with a look of utter scorn lol

cockenzie · 07/12/2004 09:42

Hester - it's fine to CAT me, i'll bring the patterns into work after lunch to copy them for u, I think one has my little lines on it, so u'll have to excuse that, but the others don't.... MIL would kill me if I wrote on her patterns.

cockenzie · 07/12/2004 09:46

fastasleep - who cares what the old bag thinks?? its ur life and u live it only once.wish i remembered that joke from Billy Connolly about the pregnancy tests.anyone out there like the old Billy? jingleballs · 07/12/2004 09:46

FS - it doesn't matter what other ppl think, my friend had the same prob she's on her 4th at 26, (oldest is 7) but she's married as well, (as long as the child is loved and looked after does it really matter? and it's not like ur not married ect.. with house and stable etc..

jingleballs · 07/12/2004 09:50

I love Billy, he's sooooo funny! it's the only comedian me and DH agree on!

cockenzie · 07/12/2004 09:50

oh its so good to be able to talk to u and moan..
weird, cos b4, when i used to go to Boots, i would curiously glance at all those test, pregnacny kits and what have u, turning my nose up to them, and think 'f***g hell, who would use those things, not me!!!'.but now, i would kill to get one of them....

cockenzie · 07/12/2004 09:53

just need to let my frustration out

cockenzie · 07/12/2004 09:55

how do i CAT?

hester · 07/12/2004 09:57

fastasleep, I'm really sorry you feel your age is something you have to 'admit' to - though I can understand why you do, having to cope with funny looks in chemists etc. 17 is a fantastic age to have babies - it's what Nature had in mind for us - and you're obviously mature and a great mum and you should be holding your head really high!
I wish I'd had babies at 17! (Actually I nearly did, but that's another story.)

I'm not in your position in any way, but the one thing we do share is feeling very aware that other people may judge as as wrong for trying to get pg at our age.

One thing that does really improve with age is the gradual loss of embarrassment. When I was 17 I was horribly self-conscious all the time; now I don't care what people think of me, which is a great relief Grin

It does sound really hopeful for you, hon. You get down to Superdrug and get yourself another test! Only advice would be: don't test every day; leave it at least two days after each negative test to give your HCG levels time to build up.
