Hello!! How is everyone doing?

MillieKitty · 25/01/2023 08:43

@PPop all good here! Second trimester is heavenly 😂 how you doing?

PPop · 25/01/2023 08:56

@MillieKitty is it? 😂 I am okay just stressing about every single feeling, and then the lack of them like a good ol crazy! Can you now relax?

MillieKitty · 25/01/2023 09:12

Yeah I feel a lot more relaxed now, 20 week scan in four weeks! Time flys by once you've had the 12 week scan

PPop · 25/01/2023 09:39

@MillieKitty ohhh how exciting!! 4 more weeks! You'll have to update! You going to find out what flavour?

MillieKitty · 25/01/2023 09:50

Nope we are resisting! Will you?

PPop · 25/01/2023 10:03

Ohh yes 100%! My personality type is that I get fixated so I need to know or I'll potentially fixate on the wrong flavour 😂

Mortima · 25/01/2023 10:38

@PPop It's such an anxious time, hopefully your scan will reassure you a bit. Are you still getting lots of aches/pains? Or any nausea yet?

@MillieKitty So glad to hear of the sunlit uplands that is the second trimester, I'm desperate to get there! I'm also going to try and resist finding out the sex, although Dh says he doesn't mind finding out or not.

I'm 10+1 today, and think the nausea is finally starting to improve a little. I had a pretty good day on Saturday, which coincided with an early scan for reassurance, and showed all is well.
It did also show a 9cm cyst on my left ovary, and I remembered your story @ScaredSally (congratulations on your boy!) - I'm sure this is what was causing my pain earlier this month, and not sure why the EPU scan didn't pick up on it. I've had a little pain since then but nothing like as severe, so hoping that it will resolve itself soon.

I did have a small amount of brown discharge yesterday afternoon, and then some light pink discharge just before bed, which has worried me. No red blood and no pain - if it does carry on for more than a day, would it be reasonable to seek advice from GP/EPU?

PPop · 25/01/2023 10:43

@Mortima I think if it worries you contact your GP/EPU, I personally think there is never a point to be too nervy and contact too much when you are pregnant.

On Sunday it all settled internally and haven't had as much, so of course I'm now worrying about the absence of the weird sensations. 😂 I have done pregnancy tests since then and as soon as I dip them in the urine they show the line as they fill so I hope this is still good. Roll on Friday!!!

MillieKitty · 25/01/2023 10:52

@Mortima whilst it does sound normal I would still contact epu for a scan just to ease your mind, like you said no pain or red blood so it doesn't sound concerning at all but i know I'd want reassurance if I experienced the same

Mortima · 26/01/2023 11:37

Thanks both - I did speak to EPU who just said to monitor and call them again if I bleed enough to fill a pad, which seems like a fairly typical response from browsing other threads. I've not had any other spotting apart from that bit on Tuesday, so hopefully all is ok.
I have ordered a foetal doppler thing for listening to the baby's heartbeat though, for my own reassurance - has anyone else got one of these?

Oh that's good hopefully there is nothing further. I must admit I was very strongly warned off one of those from the midwife on Monday!
Just last year she told me that one of her ladies had listened using that when she wasn't sure on movement, on the 3rd day the heart beat was slower and sadly by the time she reached hospital the baby was lost. She basically said that if you are worried just go straight to hospital.

Mortima · 26/01/2023 16:31

Ah thanks @Ppop, it was a bit of an impulse buy but I've now looked into them a bit more and agree, it seems like they're more trouble than they're worth, so I've cancelled my order. Will just have to be patient and wait for the next scan I guess (only 11 days to go)

PPop · 26/01/2023 18:11

@Mortima she scared me off them for sure!! Ohh 11 days that's not too long! I've got my early reassurance scan tomorrow and I'm feeling all sorts of stuff!

Wrenegade · 27/01/2023 09:06

@ScaredSally congratulations on your boy!

@Mortima I am pleased to read the spotting got better and the EPU doesn’t seem concerned. It is such an anxious time, how are you today?

@MillieKitty I can’t believe you’re so close to your 20 week scan and being half way through your pregnancy! You have me very much looking forward to the second trimester.

@PPop intreating to hear that they are discouraged. Did the doppler give the lady false reassurance? Do you have a scan today?

I have my blood test this afternoon, slightly late as I’m 11 +3 but feels like the ball is finally rolling! Has anyone told their work yet? I’m feeling a bit nervous about it as I’ve only been there 7 months.

MillieKitty · 27/01/2023 09:26

@Wrenegade I felt so nervous telling my work even though I've been there over five years! It just felt weird and I felt bad telling them I'd be leaving for a good while!! It's part of life though so don't worry about how long you've been there, I'm sure they'll be happy for you

PPop · 27/01/2023 10:19

@Wrenegade had my scan about an hour ago! Saw its little beating heart! There was also another sac in there that looked empty... she said unlikely it will do anything now but it was a multiple pregnancy! Seems we must be fertile after all 😂

MillieKitty · 27/01/2023 10:57

Wow @PPop so happy you got to see a heartbeat ! How you feeling about the empty sac? That must have been a shock!

PPop · 27/01/2023 11:12

I wanted twins so hope it was hiding a little bit @MillieKitty but delighted I have a baby and it's all in the right place! I barely slept last night for all the fears of what could go wrong! I just want it to be September now 😂

PPop · 09/02/2023 08:39

Hello! How is everyone?

Wrenegade · 09/02/2023 09:29

@PPop I’m so sorry I missed your update somehow. So pleased you saw the heart beat, have you had any further scans or update on the second sac? How far along are you now?

Im over 13 weeks now and definitely feeling much better than I was in the first trimester. The 12 week scan went well and now just waiting for the 20 week. I think I’m booked in for the 27th March. Trying to exercise and eat healthy again but it is a battle!

PPop · 09/02/2023 09:31

@Wrenegade oh that is exciting! I haven't had further scans the midwife told me it would just absorb and there would be no bleeds etc, my symptoms are awful though! I've been sick I'm nearly constantly nauseous I hope this means that the pregnancy is healthy 😂

I have my 12 weeks booked for 13th March (though I'll be over that by then) and my consultant for 27th.

How are symptoms now?

Wrenegade · 09/02/2023 09:47

@PPop Oh bless you, I can empathise entirely. I had really bad hyperemesis and was being sick up to 15 times a day, the nausea was none stop. I found eating small meals more often, lots of liquids and rest/naps helped to manage it. I was often told that it meant baby was doing well. I can now go 3/4 days without being sick but if I overwork myself or get too adventurous with food it can cause me to relapses so I’ve learnt to be much more cautious and slow down a lot.

PPop · 09/02/2023 10:31

@Wrenegade gosht that's awful! I haven't been sick since last night but after I'm sick it takes me a couple days to eat much again, I find my appetite is really low at the moment!
It's so strange! I am only 8 weeks old but feel really different, my breasts are so painful! I cannot wear underwired bras at the moment, they pinch me underneath and when I took one off on Tuesday I screamed it was that painful I had to go in the shower to calm them!

I also told my sister, sadly she has shut down and hasn't spoken to myself or my parents. It's hurt me so much.

Mortima · 09/02/2023 13:11

@PPop Oh, I'm so sorry that your sister is struggling with the news. It must be a really strange position for you to be in - as awful as it must be for her, please remember that this isn't your fault, and you can't put your own life on hold indefinitely. Give her some time to process, that's all you can do at the moment Flowers
The sickness is really the pits isn't it - mine has been slowly improving since about 10 weeks, but I'm still not really feeling 'myself'. I have heard that higher nausea levels are a good sign, but it's hard to be too grateful for it! Have you tried any medication? If not, it's worth trying - it's not normal to be feeling constantly nauseous, and I think women put up with it for far longer than they should.

I had my 12-week scan this week, which puts me at 12 + 4 today - really relieved all seemed ok, and amazing how much it had changed since I had a reassurance scan at 9 + 4. It still doesn't seem quite 'real' though, I'm not sure it will until I get an actual bump (not just bloating/weight gain from constantly grazing on carbs to curtail the nausea 😅)
