Hi ladies

I have a short LP, about 9-10 days. Anyone else in the same boat? Have you managed to get pregnant with a short LP? Any advice would be very welcome!

@EmmRach tested today but only 9dpo and I ovulated late at night so potentially only actually 8dpo even so obviously there was nothing there 😂 but il do it again tomorrow regardless!

Mugascauld · 08/12/2022 13:29

@BCxx no I'm only 8DPO! Possibly 9. Seems too good to be true. It is the same as when I found out with my son though so I don't know.

BCxx · 08/12/2022 13:44

@Mugascauld no way!! You’ve surely got to be 9, did you feel any implantation cramps do you think? I’m not hoping my really bad cramps yesterday could have been that, today I have nothing

Sierra26 · 08/12/2022 14:06

@Mugascauld defs a line there - amazing!!

@EmmRach I’ve done a few ICs, all BNF. Still no AF and spotting has pretty much stopped… going to try forget about for the weekend, and if AF doesn’t show I’ll test on Monday

If I’m not pregnant I’ll be mostly disappointed that my spotting started SUPER early in cycle and will try talk to a doc next week.

EmmRach · 08/12/2022 14:58

@BCxx in my successful cycle 8dpo was BFN, 10dpo absolute faintest quinter going. So as you're saying - deffo not out yet!! I do wonder with

@Mugascauld naaahhh trust your experience with your son. Just googled it and you can implant anywhere from 6 - 12+ DPO but towards the later end is more common. So I don't think it'll be a bad thing at all.
But we need something to be anxious about don't we 🤣🤣

@Sierra26 ahhh i see. Sorry. I do wonder if it is IB then?! God bodies are bizarre!! Hope AF stays away!!!!

EmmRach · 08/12/2022 15:00

Sorry @BCxx I've no idea what I was wondering. It's about that time in the afternoon where I can't keep my eyes open. Work is not going well 🤣

Mugascauld · 08/12/2022 15:14

I just got a 'pregnant' on a Clearblue digital!

Maybe my dates are off by a day. I usually temp at like 1am because it's after my longest stretch of sleep (still up with son all night), so maybe had I temped at like 7am I would have seen a temp spike then, but instead I saw it the following night at 1am, if that makes sense? That kind of aligns with my peak OPK. That would put me at least 9dpo, and I definitely had a pos at 9dpo with my son. Ah I'm kind of starting to believe it now

JuniperandI · 08/12/2022 16:04

@Mugascauld congratulations! What's your normal LP length and how long have you been trying for?

OP posts:
BCxx · 08/12/2022 16:08

@Mugascauld 🎉🎉 It must be real! Ahh well a baby isn’t going to be tricky then if you’re up anyway 🤣 maybe not ideal when you’re heavily pregnant though so hope he starts sleeping more soon for you 🤞🏼 What will your due date be then from LMP? How exciting!

Mugascauld · 08/12/2022 16:12

@JuniperandI thank you! So my LP is short because of breastfeeding, but I've been gaining a day with each cycle since it returned. It was 10 days last cycle, so I was/am expecting it to be 11 this cycle. This is month three ttc.

@BCxx I truly wonder if he will ever sleep through😂Well over a year now and no sign of it happening. Haven't looked at due date yet...might do that tomorrow, still feeling quite cautious and don't want to jinx anything

BCxx · 08/12/2022 16:19

@Mugascauld oh no, I think I had a stroke of luck with my little boy and the sleep thing, always just pray nothing ruins it though (like a baby screaming in the middle of the night maybe) 🙈 Based on mine it was 22nd august. Just enjoy today, the best news 🎉

DesertSnow · 08/12/2022 20:10

Ah amazing news, congrats @Mugascauld. Totally get you not wanting to get your hopes up, but that's definitely a BFP! I'm trying not to get my hopes up and I'm 7 weeks on Saturday - just realised I ovulated a whole 30 days ago!

@EmmRach I'm ok thanks, the nausea is pretty low-level and I can cope with that and the fatigue. I still haven't heard anything after self-referring - it said I would get a letter in the post but I haven't had post for weeks with the strikes so not sure I'll get booked in/have scans in time. Will do some chasing next week I think. Just have some questions I'd like to ask the midwife so feeling a bit alone with Dr Google! Another scan before Xmas is a good idea, are you telling people then?

buttercupbee · 08/12/2022 20:43

Congratulations @Mugascauld!

BCxx · 09/12/2022 06:18

I knew it, I knew it, I knew it!! First cycle getting past 8dpo, 10dpo today and there is a definite hint of a line there! (Yes I have been up since half 5 too excited to wait) 🤣

Short luteal phase?
EmmRach · 09/12/2022 07:16

@BCxx EEEEEEKKkkkkk!!! This is excellent news!!! Congratulations!! So happy for you. You absolutely knew didn't you!!

Two in one month. Yeaaaahhh!! This has got to be excellent reassurance for those still waiting!!

@Sierra26 any more spotting or signs of AF? You will be 10dpo today right?

@Mugascauld how are you feeling about everything today?

@DesertSnow 7 weeks is a great milestone! That seems like it's come around quickly! (Probably doesn't for you!) ha. I'm 8+2 as per my scan. So not too far in front. Your baby could actually be born before mine!! How weird is that to say?! I've started to really believe it now. If this all end in tears it's gonna be really bad. Great that your coping with your symptoms! Hope they don't worsen for you! Everyone has said (including these amazing ladies) that week 9 is a bit of a killer. So I'm prepping myself for that 🤣
I did all my midwife stuff online and I got an appointment a few days later via an online portal. All my notes are online now too. So it must be very different area to area.
So I've already told our parents and closest friends. But no, I don't think I'll tell anyone else till after the results of the 12 week scan. (Which can take 3 weeks I was told!!) but I think it it slipped out after the 12 week scan I'd go with it. It's just cause I'm slightly older. The chances of chromosomal abnormalities are slightly higher, and I don't know how I'd deal in that situation. Just more constant anxiety isn't it!! The scan just before Xmas is more a peace of mind thing. And because my mum is insufferable and won't talk in "hopefully" and "maybe" - it's like she refuses to believe bad things can happen! So at least if I know before Xmas I don't have to be mean and keep telling her off over Xmas and I can be more relaxed about it.

BCxx · 09/12/2022 07:21

@EmmRach thanks! 😬 So so faint and got a negative on a cb digital but I think it’s just too early, my other test last night (yes I took two yesterday🤣) had the tiniest hint of a line from one angle but it was after the time so I really couldn’t be sure. Just so so relieved! But then launched into all the pregnancy worry again 🙈 I’ve got three nights out this month, no idea how I’m going to get through them!

Mugascauld · 09/12/2022 09:36

@BCxx ah look! That's a definite positive! So happy for you! I'm due a day after you😀I also launched head first into the pregnancy worry but I'm trying to just chill and enjoy it!!

Thank you @DesertSnow and @buttercupbee !

@EmmRach feeling good, trying to enjoy the moment. I told my husb last night and inlcuded our toddler in telling him so that was a really special moment

Carlotta27 · 09/12/2022 10:01

@BCxx congratulations to you! And to all the others with BFPs. I wasn’t expecting to see so many so soon !

it must be a lovely feeling going into Xmas :)

wanted to share an interesting cycle for me - I’ve always have v short (19 max 21 day cycles) and they were 19 days for the first 4 cycles post pill. This cycle I made it to 23 days (with an 8 or 9 day LP) which is still short but not as crazy! I have been taking high strength vitamins B and C so perhaps they gave me those extra 4 days! part of me crazily thought I may be pregnant so am
feeling a bit down, but I am reminding myself this is progress x

EmmRach · 09/12/2022 12:45

@Carlotta27 totally progress!!! A longer LP is fab. Gives you a better shot next month. Something to be celebrated!! Your BFP might not be too far off the horizon! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Carlotta27 · 09/12/2022 12:55

@EmmRach thanks for that! Glad to have found this thread as my husband totally didn’t get why I was manically checking temperature and wiping these past few days 😂
your stories are definitely uplifting to read and a nice anecdote to the scary things Dr Google tells you!

buttercupbee · 09/12/2022 13:29

@BCxx congratulations! This is starting to turn into a lucky thread, fingers crossed we get some more BFPs soon!

@Carlotta27 that’s definitely progress, every cycle is one closer to that BFP too!

Sierra26 · 09/12/2022 16:46

@BCxx CONGRATS this is amazing!

And @Carlotta27 that’s great you’ve had a longer cycle, shows progress in the right direction :)

Sorry to bring the tone down - I’ve been hit with AF today as per my usual cycle. This means I had 6 days of spotting before it started (two days worse than last cycle), which dr google tells me is probably low progesterone. I was dosed up on vitamins all month but I’m moving in the opposite direction to the one I want. Need to talk to a doc but cus we’ve only been trying 2 months I doubt they’ll talk to me (even though my symptoms say there’s an issue). I’ve got AXA insurance through work but they don’t deal with fertility, so think I’ll try get a gynae referral for the symptoms and just not tell Axa we’re TTC.

if that doesn’t work I plan to just pay for a private consultation as I’d rather go without a few treats than wait around too long. Especially as I’m not sure I’m even ovulating.

need to talk to DH but, again as it’s only been 2 months, don’t want to go too technical on him. but suppose I should, just cus I’m the woman doesn’t mean it’s just my problem.

Ugh disappointed and worried and crampy 😂

DesertSnow · 09/12/2022 16:56

AMAZING NEWS @BCxx congratulations!!

@Carlotta27 sorry about AF but amazing that your LP was one day longer!

@Sierra26 Maybe you could talk to the GP and not mention ttc, just that you're worried about your cycles? Irregular cycles is worthy of investigation.

@EmmRach ha it definitely feels like time has been crawling! There have been a few losses on the pregnancy board thread I'm on so I'm not relaxed but taking it one day at a time. Oh man I hope week 9 isn't too much of a killer - I'll be 9 weeks on Christmas Eve 😂But as long as I carry a happy and healthy baby to term, I'll take all the morning sickness thrown at me. I think my referral is lost in the post as I haven't had any post for ages! I'll phone them next week and just check it went through ok. I know what you mean - my husband is 100% certain this pregnancy is the one and I'm still saying "if all goes well" etc. We're telling my mum tomorrow, but that is the only person we will tell before Xmas and is more to do with needing to tell her before my dad, who we'll see at Xmas. Not sure how she's going to take it, she is a bit unpredictable. Hope it was good telling the friends and family you've told!

Carlotta27 · 09/12/2022 18:06

@Sierra26 sorry to hear your news. I can emphasise as I’ve only been tracking 4 cycles and only DTD on 2 of them yet like you know there is something wrong (I think women instinctively know their bodies!) so I’ve also decided to pay to see a specialist after xmas

Because I have periods my GP said it’s a sign I ovulate and LP must be 12-14 days so refused to see me or do any test for a year.

So i think your plan to see a specialist is the a great one! Even if you pay a few hundred, it’s not lots of money in the whole scheme, plus it gives you peace of mind that you’re doing all you can! It’s frustrating feeling out of control of our own bodies! X

Mugascauld · 09/12/2022 19:54

@Sierra26 awh sorry you’re so stressed! Sounds like a good plan to try for a referral without telling Axa. I would do the same. And I would probably exaggerate my symptoms to my own doctor to get her to listen to me. I find it so infuriating that women have to concoct plans to get their doctors to pay attention when we know that something isn’t right.
Also I would tell your husband so it’s not so much of a burden on you, unfortunately the reality of TTC is not very sexy! Hope you get answers soon.

@Carlotta27 this thread is proof that having a period does not mean your LP is 12/14 days, I’m sorry your doctor isn’t listening. Hopefully going private will help
