Anyone else getting ready to TTC?

Hi, I'm looking for buddies who have just started, or are about to start their TTC journey. I am TTC number 2. Stopped my pill around a month ago. Ideally want to conceive in the new year, but took a long time to fall pregnant with my first. So currently not trying too hard, but not preventing either. Would be nice to hear about other people's stories too 😊

How is everyone doing? CD 8 over here with a predicted ovulation of Monday according to the apps but I don’t really have more than 1 cycle for them to go off, so who knows!

My partner and I have decided to “try” this month and then relax in Dec if it doesn’t happen as we have a holiday planned. Trying to understand when to DTD around ovulation. It’s a minefield once you start reading!

TTCorHouseReno · 16/11/2022 12:20

Can I join? I haven't started TTC yet but on the fence about making the decision to go for it! DH and I have had a busy year of getting married and buying a house with the goal to TTC once these were achieved. Now I just keep thinking "oh we'll just wait for Christmas to be over" or "just wait to save up another couple of months" but thing is we are both 36 so we can't really keep delaying! Anyone else feeling like this?

Sagittarius25 · 16/11/2022 12:48

CD11 over here and despite us thinking this was going to be the first month of seeing what happens we are kind of holding back still - over the weekend we found out my brother in law is expecting with his girlfriend (an unexpected suprise to the whole family). She is due Jul 2023 and I've said to DH if we got pregnant this month that would be an Aug 2023 baby and I weirdly wouldn't want to be that close to another baby which would be very close in the family! I don't know if that's weird or not but think we are fully just going to go with the flow and see what happens from Dec now. 😂

Welcome @TTCorHouseReno ! I know what you mean, myself and DH were almost in the same boat and it's really easy to think, 'oh just one more holiday before we TTC' or 'let's do this to the house first'. I kept remembering people always said you will never find the perfect time to TTC! So we decided 2022 was the year to go places and do things after the pandemic, always with the plan of me coming off the pill later in the year, which I did in October. I think your thoughts and feelings are normal 😊

TTCorHouseReno · 16/11/2022 15:14

@Sagittarius25 thank you. I think so just need to get on with it, DH is very keen to try ASAP. I’m due AF in a few days so this month is out but maybe we’ll be planning an Xmas BFP Shock

buckingmad · 16/11/2022 21:39

we’re going to start trying for baby number 2 in the new year and I’m so excited. Our first is 15 months so will be over 2 by the time second comes along which I think will be manageable! It took us a year to conceive last time and I really hope it’s a bit quicker this time.

nadsc · 20/11/2022 17:43

1dpo today - officially in the TWW. How is everyone else getting on?

passthechoc · 21/11/2022 13:07

Skyla01 · 02/11/2022 13:24

It's definitely hard not to symptom spot! Not that it's a bad thing in itself but it's tough if you get your hopes up for nothing. I've still had the odd cramp but no sign of AF. No sign of my pregnancy tests either though.

@passthechoc as long as you DTD around ovulation you're in with a chance. Fingers crossed! And hope the tww goes quickly for you and @SillyOldBear3

It's been a while since I've checked in here but I did get my BFP.

overgrowngrass · 24/11/2022 05:12

@nadsc think I’m out, we missed my fertile window I think 🙁

@passthechoc wow, first bfp on the thread! Congratulations! How are you feeling?

RPH92 · 24/11/2022 10:01

@passthechoc congrats!!

@overgrowngrass me too, I think we DTD 4 days before my ovulation day but my partner has been unwell and stressed with work, and my ovulation window wasn’t particularly clear this month (still having irregular cycles post coming off contraception!) not holding out much hope but think we will start TTC properly in January.

Dakin · 26/11/2022 12:41

Hey all, was looking for this kind of thread to join as I'll be trying for No.2 in 2023.
It took me 1.5 years and 2 MCs (one very traumatic D&C at 13 weeks) before my first child. Though I did become pregnant with her the month after my D&C.

I found it easy to get sucked down a rabbit hole of opks, apps and temps. Tbh the best advice we got was sex every other day after your period for a few weeks. This is probs more relevant this time as my periods are now more irregular (32-35) rather than exactly 28 days as prev. I think it's difficult for the sex not to become a chore the longer you TTC and it becomes tied up with all this meaning rather than for intimacy etc. I wonder if we were successful that last time as after the D&C I was not focused on opks etc at all.

I'm going to make a few changes this month (food, vitamins and caffeine) but also it's our first Christmas and I don't want to miss the fun with my first kid obsessing over having the second.

Anything people would recommend in terms of lifestyle? I'll go back on the pregnacare but not sure it did much. Have a friend that totally swears by the new mom pregnacare for just feeling well herself..

SillyOldBear3 · 28/11/2022 22:02

@passthechoc huge congrats!! Hope you're feeling OK! Did you get any symptoms that were different to your usual AF?

overgrowngrass · 02/12/2022 10:42

How’s everyone getting on? AF has arrived here today, cycle day 25. Still have no real idea what my normal cycles look like as have been on birth control for so long. Really want to give it a proper shot this month, we were intimate at all the wrong times last cycle!

nadsc · 02/12/2022 10:47

@overgrowngrass sorry to hear AF has arrived. Hope this months your month ❤️

im currently 13dpo and tested positive at 10dpo. Hoping everything goes well. It’s so exciting but nerve wracking

Sagittarius25 · 02/12/2022 10:50

@overgrowngrass AF due any time now, currently CD27. Not expecting to be pregnant this month as we didn't really try for a number of reasons and were careful with withdrawal (however fully aware that isn't fool proof so will test early next week if AF doesn't show 🤣) hope AF is somewhat regular compared to a 27 day cycle last month. Then going for it properly from after this AF.

Congrats on the BFP's in the thread!

CityKity · 02/12/2022 12:06

So AF never showed up on Sun/Mon as expected. Finally bit the bullet and did a test on Weds night and got a BFP 😱.
Shocked doesn’t even begin to describe it.
I think I mentioned up thread but we had family staying with us over ovulation so only DTD on CD8 and CD21 so complete ruled out this month, especially as the plan was to put more effort into ttc in the new year.
I must ovulate earlier/later than normal and never really intended to track with bbt or opk strips so I suspect would have wasted a few months trying around CD14 without much luck.
Timing is going to be reeeeeeally tricky to try and keep this a secret giving a very very busy social December coming up. I’m usually the first to open a bottle, and I love wine, so it’s going to be immediately suspicious.

Good luck ladies 🤞- in terms of symptoms they were very similar to AF so I expected her to show up. Aside from that the obvious one is sore, rock hard boobs, that still haven’t dissipated yet!

Exactly how I conceived my first!

Congrats xx

overgrowngrass · 02/12/2022 20:04

Ahhh congrats @CityKity ! And @nadsc you got your Xmas BFP 🥰

I’ve got OPKs at the ready for this month, would love a September baby! @Skyla01 how are you doing?

Sagittarius25 · 05/12/2022 17:02

CD30, first day missed period today, negative test (as expected with withdrawal this month for certain reasons) but would just like to know what is going on this cycle compared to 27 day cycle last month 🤣 my rational brain is saying of course this is only cycle number 2 after the pill so things could still vary and at the moment it's only just over etc. but still don't like being in limbo. Think that first 27 day cycle put me in a false sense of security! Ugh! Anyway, now I'm thinking I did think I felt ovulation pain on CD22 so a bit late, but if that was the case AF won't arrive yet anyway! So holding onto that and I'm sure I will start going stir crazy next week if still no AF. 🤣 tonight decided I'm going to (try) not to care what is going on and enjoy my fave time of year 🎄 sorry for the rant ladies!

WideOpenSpaces · 06/12/2022 00:42

AF arrived on Saturday so officially about to begin TTC No2!!!!!!! Eep

TTCorHouseReno · 06/12/2022 09:47

We v nearly tried this month but decided we'd wait til the New Year! I'm mid-cycle right now so early Jan I will be TTC Shock

Mademoiselle14 · 06/12/2022 20:24

Nervously/excitedly joining this thread! We are not ‘trying’ but seeing what happens. DD is 2.5 and it’s taken a long time to get DH a on board with this idea! We got very lucky and conceived in our first month with our DD, trying to manage my expectations that we might not be so lucky this time.

is anyone taking the ‘seeing what happens’ approach taking folic acid already? I think it would be safer to take it just in case but DH thinks it’s too much pressure!

Sagittarius25 · 06/12/2022 20:30

Welcome @Mademoiselle14 !

Me and DH are also seeing what happens from now onwards, although I think my periods are still regulating after stopping pill in Oct. We are TTC #1 and since stopping the pill I've been taking Holland and Barrett conception vitamins which have the folic acid in. Beforehand I used to just take an 'active woman' multivitamin so doesn't feel really any different to me, just switched the specific vitamin I am taking. I don't personally think taking folic acid adds any pressure, it's just the sensible thing to do 😊

TTCorHouseReno · 07/12/2022 11:29

I've been taking a hair skin and nails vitamin every day for several months now and it apparently has the 400 dose of folic acid in it so I'm going to keep that one up, the bonus being my nails grow really strong and my eyelashes and brows are amazing Grin

LittleWings22 · 07/12/2022 11:43

Im joining too!!!!

We are trying for #3 but currently going with the flow however my body has other ideas. Ive had no period from Sept and not pregnant. So no idea what is going on and just now and again doing a test to see.

Worth noting i have PCOS and am still bfeeding my 2.5yo

overgrowngrass · 13/12/2022 20:17

How’s everyone doing? Anyone well versed in OPKS? Does this look positive to you? I think it is but Flo app telling me not so I’m doubting myself 🤦‍♀️

Anyone else getting ready to TTC?
