Hi, I'm looking for buddies who have just started, or are about to start their TTC journey. I am TTC number 2. Stopped my pill around a month ago. Ideally want to conceive in the new year, but took a long time to fall pregnant with my first. So currently not trying too hard, but not preventing either. Would be nice to hear about other people's stories too 😊

@Skyla01 let us know if you test! Keeping everything crossed for you!

My period is due on the 9th, the days are going by so slowly! Last month I symptom spotted so much and was convinced I was pregnant.. need to try not to do that this month!

passthechoc · 02/11/2022 10:00

Skyla01 · 01/11/2022 09:33

@SillyOldBear3 you've given it a good shot. At least with a slightly shorter luteal phase your tww is shorter. I think that less than 10 days isn't so good, but at 10 that is ok?

@RPH92 have you got cheapie tests? They are good if you might test a lot. So hard waiting for cycle to settle down and not knowing where you are. Last time I got lots of hormonal symptoms during that time too which didn't help.

I'm still waiting for pregnancy tests to come in the post. Think I'll test later this week (Thursday?). I've had a few cramps last night and this morning so half expecting af to show up. It's been 2.5 years since I've had a period though so I'm not so good at predicting things. I'm not one for doing a lot of tests, but drinking a bit more coffee and wine than I probably should so might be good to check I haven't fallen pregnant straight away! Although took many cycles last time round so hard to believe it can happen so easily.

How is everyone else?

I'm well thank you, still 10 days to wait for AF. I don't test before because I think if I started it would be a slippery slope. Not expecting it this month because of my DH been away with work so much. But you never know. He was actually here around ovulation so you never know. I'm sure our bodies play tricks on us though when they know we're trying. I've felt nauseous for about 3 days now... I'm sure I wouldn't have even thought about it if we weren't trying 🙄

Skyla01 · 02/11/2022 13:24

It's definitely hard not to symptom spot! Not that it's a bad thing in itself but it's tough if you get your hopes up for nothing. I've still had the odd cramp but no sign of AF. No sign of my pregnancy tests either though.

@passthechoc as long as you DTD around ovulation you're in with a chance. Fingers crossed! And hope the tww goes quickly for you and @SillyOldBear3

I came off my pill yesterday and will take it easy this month and start OPKing and TTC properly from next month / after my first period.
Really excited! This will be DC2, I have a 1 year old DC.

passthechoc · 05/11/2022 09:44

How is everyone getting on?

Sagittarius25 · 05/11/2022 09:47

Still waiting for first real AF after pill, on CD27 today but expecting AF to be a bit later as pretty sure I ovulated on CD22! Had one sided pain and EWCM for 24hrs around that.

I'm surprising myself with how patient and calm I'm being 😂

RPH92 · 05/11/2022 12:57

I’m 11DPO and negative so far on cheap tests.

Wasn’t expecting big things for this cycle as it’s the first one post implant removal but I don’t think you ever really give up hope!

CityKity · 06/11/2022 03:10

Really interested to how you are all having the DTD conversations with your DHs?! We’ve had a couple of big convos and I know DH is really keen and we’ve deliberately not been using contraception for a while, but how do you transition from that to talking about the ovulation windows etc?! It feels so unromantic tbh x

Sagittarius25 · 06/11/2022 11:32

@CityKity not exactly in the same position as you as am currently in first month waiting for AF so been using condoms. However I have been tracking on apps and telling DH 'oooo potential fertile window now' and just making sort of light of it like that. I am waiting for the communication to become less exciting/romantic as we progress through cycles though 😂

Sagittarius25 · 06/11/2022 11:36

An update from me ladies!

In addition to my post yesterday thinking AF would be a while yet - she has made an appearance today! Pretty sure she's here but I always take like half a day to 'get going' properly with the period if that makes sense 😂

That puts my first cycle at 27 days from the withdrawal bleed from pill. Quite happy with that and really wasn't expecting it to come so 'on time' 😂 although when I remember back to pre-pill I was always quite regular but just assumed for some reason I would have lost that 😂

Hoping it stays regular!

nadsc · 09/11/2022 14:39

Update from me - period arrived yesterday 🎉 I am ovulating around next weekend so will start testing my LH levels from Sunday and starting SMEP next Tuesday on cycle day 8. Trying so hard to not get my hopes up that I’ll get pregnant this cycle x

CityKity · 09/11/2022 16:48

@Sagittarius25 such great news that it seems like you’re back on you’re regular cycle so quickly!

@nadsc fingers crossed this cycle is the one!!

I’m currently cycle day 10, so just going by a rough cycle tracker and no LH testing, ovulation should be on Sunday - bang in the middle of having guests staying over 😅. Let’s see what we can squeeze in! Last cycle we completely missed the window. DH has got very very baby keen very quickly, so he’d love this cycle to be the one. I’m more of a realist, and think we’ve got a while to go. Let’s see!

Sagittarius25 · 09/11/2022 17:19

@CityKity yes phew! AF does defo seem lighter even compared to my withdrawal bleeds on the pill. Putting it down to things just settling though. There has been proper flow just quite light!

That's so lovely your DH is very keen and excited!

CityKity · 09/11/2022 18:15

@Sagittarius25 I was reading on another thread on this board (and generally) about light/short periods. I think it’s really common that your period can change over time, so if you’ve been on the pill for 10+ years it’s totally normal that your natural period now might be totally different to how they were a decade ago.
I’ve definitely found that my periods have changed from ~6 days of heavy bleeding as a teen, to now 1-2days of light/med bleeding. I can’t find any correlation with fertility and it’s something I have worried about in the past. The recent thread was very positive though, I’ll try and find the link for you.
Just an FYI of course - your periods might change next cycle, but I don’t think it’s anything to worry about.

Sagittarius25 · 09/11/2022 18:26

@CityKity yes I did read some reassuring threads on here. I'm similar, used to have 5/6 days heavy as a teenager and even when on the pill the first few years of withdrawal bleeds where quite heavy and even they changed over time so I think partly it's defo just being older. This AF has been about 3 days light and then spotting today.

RPH92 · 09/11/2022 18:38

We are on the absolute same timeline 😂

AF arrived today for me exactly 27 days after implant removal. First period in 5 years hit hard!

i feel a bit gutted that I wasn’t one of those magic cases where you get pregnant before having a period but relieved she’s back and hopeful it means we can start tracking.

good luck ladies!

overgrowngrass · 09/11/2022 20:19

Hi all 😊back on this thread as my period arrived on Monday following IUD removal in September. So I’m officially now on the TTC train 🚂🤩

sounds like there are a few of us all on the same cycle, how exciting!

Sagittarius25 · 10/11/2022 11:18

oh my goodness AF is now annoying me 😂been light the whole time and then for the past two days I keep thinking she has finished and then the next day get tiny amounts of flow again (between light and spotting levels of quantity)! But haven't had a day with completely nothing and then appearing again, so she is just finishing really slowly.

To be fair this also used to happen for a couple of days at the end of my withdrawal bleeds on the pill so don't know why I'm so shocked. Just annoying and making me over think everything and think that she won't stop for some reason! Isn't it crazy how quickly you can become irrational about these things!

passthechoc · 11/11/2022 17:30

Still patiently, or impatiently, waiting for AF to arrive. CD27 today. My cycles vary from 24 - 27 days so we will wait and see what tomorrow brings

overgrowngrass · 12/11/2022 06:31

@Sagittarius25 has AF finished now? I know what you mean about becoming irrational. This will be my first real cycle trying and I’m already panicking that I’m with friends all next weekend so will miss peak fertile days 🤦‍♀️

@passthechoc hope AF turns up soon.

is anyone using apps to track? I’m trying Flo to begin with.

Sagittarius25 · 12/11/2022 07:51

@overgrowngrass yes she seems to have packed her bags!

I'm using Clue and the Apple Health period tracking actually and liking both for different reasons. Clue it's easy to see what cycle day you are on and then throughout the month tells you how many days until period. With apple though I find it's easier to track symptoms and there are more options.

nadsc · 14/11/2022 22:00

It’s nice to see we are all on a similar time line - hopefully lots of positive pregnancy tests in a couple of weeks! I’m cycle day 8 today, I have a concert on Thursday and I’m really hoping I carry on with the same ovulation pattern and ovulate day
12/13. I do not want to miss any good fertile windows!!

What is everyone’s thoughts on caffeine whilst TTC? I drink a lot of coffee so I’ve decided to cut down now although it’s probably too late now.

Sagittarius25 · 15/11/2022 08:34

I'm not quitting caffeine or alcohol (yet - may change this depending how long it is all taking!) but I only drink one coffee a day and maybe a tea and then a bit of alcohol at the weekend. Also like a drink over Xmas so unless I get a positive before that will be drinking as normal 😂

nadsc · 15/11/2022 11:29

I don’t drink much alcohol since having my daughter(had such bad severe acid reflux since 3rd trimester so scared to drink) but I need the caffeine. My cutting down caffeine hasn’t gone down well today so far, already had two coffees and I think I’ll need another later 😂 I get you with the drinking over Xmas, my fave time of year for a bottle or two of baileys 🤣

CityKity · 15/11/2022 14:29

So far I’m not giving up caffeine or alcohol either - especially with Christmas coming up! I have dropped down to one proper coffee a day and switched to decaf if needed. Alcohol wise, I’m just being more sensible than usual, trying to limit midweek drinking and be a bit more mindful of weekend drinking. Let’s see!
Really frustrating month - it’s the second month that we’ve complete missed my fertile window. This month we had guests staying and just couldn’t get a second alone. I was fairly chilled last month, but this month it’s really bothered me - I was really hoping that we’d have a couple of months of relaxed trying this year so that if it was taking a while we could ramp up and start being more focused next year grrrrr
