Didnt realise we were cycle buddies, cool! so clip notes version, me and Dh have been trying for 3 long years now, year 2 they did exploritory (sorry bad speller!) surgery to check my tubes and all okay, so now we on first month of clomid with fingers crossed!!! so wats your story (sorry i nosey)

LittleSquirt · 04/02/2008 21:07

Hello Ladies!

First of all, Fruitloop - so sorry about your news. My best friend was diagnosed with PCOS a few months ago so I sort of know how hard it is to hear it and get used to the idea. But it will happen for you I am sure and maybe sooner than you think. Another friend of mine was diagnosed years ago but she still conceive on her first month of trying and she actually gave birth to a healthy little boy today!!

Well, I am removing myself from the list for the time being at least. I just don't know where I am in my cycle at all so it seems silly to be on it at the minute. I have a feeling that my operation on 21st sort of "reset" my cycle as I think I might have ovulated yesterday but until I get a period, I won't know where I am for sure so it seems a bit pointless.

I will still lurk and will add myself back once I am on CD1 again. Hopefully it will happen soon so I know where I am and when to BD, etc!

Best of luck to all of you in the mean time. I DEMAND as many BFPs as possible by the time I come back!!! (particularly from MrsEi and Piper, my current cycle buddies! )

littlesquirt sorry to see you go but we will see you soon no doubt and i promise to do my best to get a BFP just for you...erm and for me if thats ok
piper up to now my story goes a bit like this (ok alot like this but anyway...) im TTC#2 iv got a DD who is 2yo i have been itching to TTC for ages but as i was getting hitched in august 07 i decided to wait so i could fit into my gorgeous dress and i had my coil taken out in october and we started TTC im on cycle 3. im still hopeful although it took 10months to get my BFP with DD (and a shaky preg aswell) but here i am ready to do it all again... we have had a first time clomid success story just last week on here so i hope you are our number 2 (in the TTC way and not the poo way) have you decided when you are due to test?? have you got any symptoms at all (apart from the grumpiness to your DH) we love to hear about anything even if it is somethin silly sorry i am a bit nosey too
xx ei xx

it took 8 months for me to get were i am and i suppose i am still in shock so keep your chinup and try to think positive xox

fruitloop79 · 05/02/2008 08:35

Hi guys, sorry not replied to all your lovely posts until now.
I was feeling, well, like sh*t actually.

I know it could be worse - like my poor friend who had to have tubes removed (endo) and after 5 attempts of IVF she's finally preg - but I can't help but feel completely inadequate. I know it will happen, trust me I'm not gonna give up!

Eleveld and ei your DH's are very funny!

ei Jools Oliver had also got PCOS, Although I reckon all these famous people with it can't have it that bad as none of them struggle with their weight, have excess hair or have spots (although if they do I'm sure they pay a lot of miney to keep it all under control!)

Treats How do you cope with PCOS? Do you get all the usual symptoms? How long are your cycles usually? I'm starting low GI diet. I was following it when I conceived DS. It's incredibly boring but I feel so much better from it. I got fed up with it though cos I got obsessed with it. So gonna start again. I almost put sultanas in my muesli this morning then realised I cant have em

Sam hi, how are you? How's it all going? I don't know why I've taken this so badly cos I always knew it was there. I think I expected the Gynae to tell me she can see a mini fruity in there

Mibbes I've told DP I'm temping from next cycle. Got one coming in the post from ebay (Babymad - anyone had experience?)

clouisewood Fingers crossed for Clomid! I'm gonna book my appointment today - I wont wait for them to call me! I know it's gonna take a while TTC but I've really only got till May cos I'm getting married Aug 09 so I've gotta allow time to lose the weight (6 months should do it)

Littlesquirt that's great news about your friend! I've heard PCOS can effect breast feeding. I hope she manages ok (if that's what she wants to do). I had real trouble with DS. I had no milk, DS lost so much weight, health visitor even told me to use formula - I was devastated!

How is everyone today? any more testers?

Morning Ladies ! Thanks for list update Cycle Buddy
Welcome newbies
GG no need to feel about rant, it is how you felt at the time. How are things now ? Have you been able to talk with DH ? Hope you are feeling better.
FL hope you are also a bit cheered by success stories of PCOS women - there is a MNer named something like AtillaTheMeerkat who knows loads about PCOS and recommends a website called verity (or something similar) maybe worth doing a MN search for her threads.
MTW oohhh reflexology... am very tempted. If Bucky gets BFP this cycle then am hot-footing it straight to my local reflexology lady . When in the cycle is reflexology advised ? Mind you I have super-ticklish feet so maybe not...

EleveId, Treats, never - any ov signs ladies ?
(sorry TMI alert!) I had -ve opk yesterday and just before bed had a very similar to EWCM wipe. Dp too tired to perform, but temp still low this morning so hopefully this is just the precursor to real EWCM. This morning had another stretchy CM wipe but more cloudy so I think this is what comes before the real EWCM, fingers crossed will have some opk +ve action in the next few days
MrsEi have you tested ? I'll be so proud if you have resisted !
JollyBear my FF HCB - when you testing ? Surely you are enough days post ov now...?

JollyBear · 05/02/2008 10:48

Hello all,

mibbes I've answered you on the symptom spotters thread

FL So sorry to hear the results of your scan I have a babymad thermometer. My tip to a temping novice is that taking your temp at varying times really makes a difference so try and do it at the same time everyday if possible.

Hello to all the newbies!

Hello. {{hugs}} to NOAM and FL, and anyone else going through a shitty time at the moment (sorry for expletive but can't think of any other work strong enough - and me with an English degree, I should be ashamed...)

An update from the land of ME ME ME - have posted the same message on the mc threads...

Morning all. I can't believe I'm about to type this...

Went for a scan this morning to confirm my 2nd mc. Doctor had already confirmed it with falling blood levels last week so really it was just a formailty to try to get them to book me in for an erpc as soon as poss. Should have been 6+5 today.

So, had the scan... and am measuring 6+5 today with a good heartbeat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't believe it!!!! I have never experienced such a rollercoaster before. Really don't know what to think now. Didn't see anyone at the hosp after the scan - sonographer was lovely and explained things brilliantly, let me look at the heartbeat for ages - would have stayed all day if she'd let me Plus I didn't want to see the witch nurse I saw last time who kept going on about 'nature being very cruel sometimes' and 'long slow progress resulting eventually coming to nothing'. Sonographer reckoned there was no point me seeing her anyway so was glad to follow her advice!

But I don't know what to think now... She said everything looks good, showed me the yolk sac, the corpus luteum, and something else that I can't remember the name of, shows up like a halo outside the sac. Said that was good too.

So where do I go from here?!??!??! My doc isn't working today but I've left a message with the surgery to call me... What would you advise? PLEASE HELP!!! Am going mad.... [terrified emoticon] but also [very cautious emoticon]

Emmsy1 · 05/02/2008 11:18

hello girls,
Fruity I got my babymad from ebay, it's spot on! (I also have a normal digital and a mercury one!) I like to compare, being a total obssesive nutter It really is important that you take your temp at the same time each morning, dont even go for a pee first! Try and keep your mouth closed so it can record a precise temp and dont get out of bed as your temp goes up as soon as you start moving! Kate took her temp vaginally, but thats not for me, I'd probably lose the thermometer goodluck hun xx
mibbes my temp definately went up this morning, (the last two temps have been cocked up as woken by crying children!!) All the signs indicate that I have 'O' EWCM,OPK and temps I have also b/d twice so keeping my fingers crossed(I have started thinking that my temp has gone up because of medication, why am I so negative!?)_By the way mibbes, I have mostly 'O' 2-3 days after my EW, so make sure DH performs ASAP!!!

Emmsy1 · 05/02/2008 11:21

OH MY GOD KATE
I think I'm going to cry.........

Emmsy1 · 05/02/2008 11:28

I've pulled myself together now!! That's a miracle Kate, I feel like singing HALLELUJAH,HALLELUJAH, HALLELU,HALLELUUUUUUUUJAH!!! (Bloody hell, these tablets are good!)

sambrads · 05/02/2008 11:33

hello kate that is fantasic news!!!!!!

i would go by what your scan is showings sometimes blood tests dont come back correct!!!

oh i am so so happy for you
what sort of scan did you get???
i cant believe they seen the heart beat and sac in detail .
i have a scan on thursday and will be 6 weeks so hopefully i willsee something too.

oh im so excited for you

Treats · 05/02/2008 11:35

Fruitloop - I was diagnosed at age 20, and - at the time - I just wanted my dreadful acne to clear up and wasn't fussed when they said I might not be able to conceive. So I've always known that I had it, which has been quite helpful for me - one of the reasons we've started trying now rather than waiting a few more years is because the PCOS means that it might take us a while.

I had awful spots, excessive hairiness, suffered bouts of depression and am a little overweight (not much). However, my periods have always been regular (although heavy and painful)and I have a 28-day cycle, so I haven't worried too much about the potential impact on conception.

I was prescribed Dianette which was great for tackling the symptoms, but have come off it because it's a contraceptive pill. Since then, I've tried to eat a low-GI diet (v. hard as I have a very sweet tooth!!) and take EPO for the first half of my cycle. I know that it would take a year of trying before I could seek help, so I've been proactive and had a couple of sessions with an acupuncturist to see if that helps (too early to tell yet).

There's a great book about managing PCOS through the GI diet. I'll see if I can find it and post a link. You don't necessarily have to give up all the fun things. I've learned that the important thing is to combine protein with carbs, to reduce the overall Glycaemic Load (hark at me!)

Lots of people have posted about people they know/ celebrities who have PCOS and successfully given birth. At least you know now and can do something positive to tackle the obstacle. Best wishes!!!!

Treats · 05/02/2008 11:43

Mibbes - have had lots of EWCM over the last couple of days - not so much today. Haven't taken temperature or used an opk, so can't tell you.

I had a lot of ov pain last month, and keep thinking I'm feeling it again (although it may just be indigestion ). It seems to be on the same side as last month, though, and I would have thought it would have been on the other side this month??? Does anyone know?

Fruitloop - posting an link to a book on amazon which is the same title and author as the one I have, although the cover is different. I'm sure it's the same though.

link

JollyBear · 05/02/2008 11:53

kate what FANTASTIC news! .

I hope you can put this horrible experience behind you now and enjoy your pregnancy.

Eleveld · 05/02/2008 12:03

Hi Mibbes

Apart from the +ve OPK I'm not sure I've had any ovulation signs - nothing I recognise anyway. Don't think I've even had any EWCM, although not sure I ever really notice this - hope this doesn't mean I don't ovulate?

Anyway followed your instructions and BD'd last night! Think I may make an effort tonight too as aren't the general guidelines that ovulation can be anything up to 48 hours after +ve OPK? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Fingers crossed you get your +ve OPK very soon

07mumstheword · 05/02/2008 12:45

WOW Kate a scan has to be the most accurate surely and hearing a good heartbeat is fantastic. The sonographer must know what's what and sounds like she (or he) was very good. I'm so pleased for you.

fruitloop79 · 05/02/2008 13:08

Ah congratulations kate that's just amazing news!

Thanks treats I've ordered that book. I've got a low GI book but it's quite old now so I've ordered a new version of that book you found.
I used to take Dianette as I had bad spots which cleared them up fairly well but the last pill I was on was called Cilest which worked really well for me(no idea i had PCOS - well I was suspicious but scan showed nothing). Now I know I've got it and now TTC it's a shame they can't take out the contraceptive part! I'm never going on the pill again now. I'm just going to keep going without cos I'll never know how any kids I'll be able to have and my dream is to have a big family which probably won't happen now.
I'd love to go to an acupuncturist but money very tight. I suppose I could give up gym membership but can't bring myself to.

I've wanted lots of kids ever since I can remember. I remember always being very interested in parenting and pregnancy/childbirth. It's so hard when I here of friends who don't particularly want kids but fall pg very easily and stress about it when it happens, I just wanna shake them and tell them how lucky they are!

NOAM
Actually now you've mentioned it I think that is the only time I've ever really noticed anything close to CM, after a bowel movement!

It must be the pressue downwards or something!

Glad it's not just me!

fruitloop79 · 05/02/2008 14:01

I have to agree NOAM and Eleveld

I've decided to start temping tomorrow as my thermometer arrived this morning. I should start at the beginning of my next cycle but let's face it, it could be weeks/months away!
