Hey MrsEi, you have a good memory!!

My op on 21st did go very well, thank you! No more adhesions in my uterus which was the best news we could get. Am now waiting for AF (no idea when it might arrive as I have just had breakthrough bleeding from stopping oestrogen). There def won't be a BFP for me this month because we are not allowed to to try until after next AF.

One of us MUST get a BFP this month so I'll just have to be you!!! I hope so!! xxx

twinklingfairy · 28/01/2008 20:52

Hi girls, {waves back to cricri, my new CB}
I,m not really sure what to do at the moment. I went to the Dr's today to get some antibiotics for my eye infection, and ended up breaking down in front of the doc! He told me I have post natal depression?, because of my last two M/C's and prescribed me with the mini-pill and Fluoxetine 20mg(prozac) he said I must not try for a baby while I am on this medication. I agreed with him and came home, I have took my first anti-depressant but not my mini-pill (I threw the first one down the loo!) I have told my DH that I have taken it!
I can't bring myself to take the pill, I have tried to find out about prozac and pregnancy and haven't found anything to worry about I am thinking about taking the prozac for a couple of months and still TTC, if I get pregnant I will then stop it. The pressure of 'performing on demand' will also be taken off my DH if he thinks I am now on the pill. Anyone got any thoughts on this?

twinklingfairy · 28/01/2008 22:45

Golly, that sounds like a knee jerk reaction by the doctor.
I don't know what it is like to have a MC, but I imagine that you are just frustrated by the trying and that can be a strain, which could easily have caused you to cry to the doctor. I know I have been in tears to a doc before. Does it mean you have to be given strong drugs?
Is that a strong drug though.

Oh, I just don't know maybe someone better than me will be along soon. But I can totally understand your thinking but I would be too scared to take the prozac and TTC as well. I am a worrier though

Sorry, I was no help at all. But I didn't want you to feel alone out there.

MrsEi25 · 28/01/2008 23:16

emmsy i agree with TF that it sounds a bit of a rushed diagnosis. how do you feel in yourself?? have you had a really bad time of it recently emotionally??(you dont have to answer if that is too sensitive a question) its just that with depression whether it be postnatal or not there are often features/symptoms such as anxiety, and extreme emotional oversensitivity. also from alot of explainations of those who live with depression they have feelings that things are always dark (in their mind) and they dont see things getting any better. it isnt something which should be diagnosed lightly and also medication isnt always the best way to treat it. counselling can sometimes be the best route for many. if you dont feel comfortable taking the medication maybe go back and see your doctor and ask to be given the other options as you DO have other options HTH xx {{{{{hugs}}}}}}

Emmsy1 · 28/01/2008 23:45

Thanks for the advice TF and MrsEi25
I think the doc came to his conclusion because I told him I was feeling anxious and a bit paranoid and that I can't help feeling partly responsible for something awful that happened to my younger brother. I really can't go into it too much. I have been going through hell psycologically for about 2 years, and then I suppose having two m/c's in the last 10 months, and also worrying alot about a few other health issues that have still to be diagnosed, has just pushed me alittle over the edge today! I feel really stupid now, I wish I hadn't gone to the doctor's for eye antibiotics!

Sorry for posting twice, it's this damn laptop, it's a bit like me, over sensitve!

MrsEi25 · 29/01/2008 00:05

emmsy its basically all about whether you feel as if you will benefit from having the ADs if the answer is yes then it is the right route for you if not then it might be worth having a bit of counselling. everyone has times where they need to let people help them and maybe this is your time. dont feel silly for speaking to your GP as it was obviously bubbling just under the surface ready to come out. this might be the ideal time to 'deal' with some of the issues you mentioned. we are all here as a supportive friend to you so feel free to air your problems here aswell. {{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}

my hubby wont let me tell anyone as he is more nervous than me and i didnt think that was possible

so go on pistachio and shout from the roof tops !!

everything happens for a reason xoxox

mibbes · 29/01/2008 09:17

CB Emmsy, so sorry to hear you are feeling so low. If you are sure you are ready for another baby now then it is probably a good idea not to take the mini pill and maybe your no plan of no ttc pressure will work . I don't know anything about ADs I'm afraid but MrsEi seems to have given some good advice.{{{huuuugs}}}

Spink · 29/01/2008 10:59

Dear Emmsy, a big squeeze for you I think lovely
Hmm, I don't know what to suggest, difficult because different things work for different people. First of all, I've been to my GP too in the past for something 'small' and ended up being offered ADs because I got tearful. I was really offended, actually. But it did get me asking myself proper questions about why I got upset, and what I needed to do look after myself at the time. When I actually thought about it, I had a lot going on, but, as you do, had just been getting on with the hecticness of everyday life, and not giving myself time to be with friends, and talk to them about some of my sadness, and slow down, and chew over some of the hard stuff. I ended up admitting to close friends that I was struggling, which they were surprised about because I seemed 'fine', but it was the start of a process of me dealing with things that I needed to. I decided against ADs because I wanted to do this other stuff first.. would have gone back to them had I still been struggling a few months later.

I DO think ADs can be really helpful, they can give you a bit of a lift that then helps you to go on and do what you need for yourself. And it is not an either/or thing -ADs alongside counselling type stuff has been shown to be really helpful in the world of research...

Bleurgh.
Didn't realise that would turn into such a mammoth post. Hope some of it makes sense/maybe helps..

07mumstheword · 29/01/2008 13:33

Ooh Emmsy I'm so sorry you are having such a tough time I think a lot of great advice has already been posted and I have to agree that it was a "quick" diagnosis.
If you feel you need the medical help then of course take it but if you feel counselling may help try that.
I was put on AD's by a well meaning doctor and I took them for 2 wks, felt better and stopped. They are supposed to take 2 wks to even start working so it was clear to me that I was just a bit down and not truely depressed. It's all dependant on the individual and if you are truely depressed quite often only outsiders can tell. I do hope things improve for you soon,
