Starting Clomid tomorrow!

TTC number 2 and currently starting cycle 16. We are about to start Clomid and I wondered if anyone had any advice or tips? Just not sure what to expect with it.
We currently have no known issues, partners SA is ok, my bloods are ok and my HyCoSy came back clear.
Unsure on why we have been given Clomid but willing to give anything a try right now!

@EMM01 I am using opks this cycle. I found a German drugstore brand and I got a positive on CD15-16. Before Clomid I’ve been using OneStep and never got such a strong positive. I did get what I assumed was a positive test once also around CD15-16, but not as dark as now with Clomid.

I read some reviews on OneStep and some women said it didn’t work well for them so I shrugged it off and just assumed I ovulate (AF regular - every 28/30 days). 🙈 When I look back now, I definitely didn’t worry as much then. I just believed it would happen eventually and after over a year it still hasn’t. 🥺 I am devastated everytime AF comes, though.

naevo · 23/03/2022 14:26

@xoJellyBean definitely ready to pop! I'm not sure OPKs are very accurate while taking Covid but even still, it only takes a couple hours to surge so hopefully you get a positive soon!

@TopSecret99 AF was longer (4 days) and heavier than usual for me. My usual AF is usually only 2 days long and really light. I think Clomid can thin your lining sometimes as this was something I was worried about with mine being so light anyway. I think I've read that it can cut AF short but is normal.

@lilrosemarie ah what timing! You should have hit ovulation judging by those dates anyway.

@EMM01 me too, just sitting here wondering what's going on down there and wanting to know 😂

The past couple of days I've had really bad stabbing pains in one boob. Keeps making me jump it's that sharp! Last day of my tablet for this cycle today, roll on the fertile window! Also really really tempted to OPK out of interest! They are in my basket on Amazon but trying to talk myself out of it as we'll only be DTD every other day anyway 😬

@naevo I think if you dtd every other way you will definitely cover it. But I admit it’s fun seeing those two lines pop up. i just wish they were they appeared on a different kind of test as well, not just on ovulation (and nowadays … covid test 😬) 🤦🏼‍♀️🙈

user6669 · 23/03/2022 15:43

I hope its OK for me to join, about to start round 1 of clomid this evening and really hoping I ovulate. I have conceived 3 times before with clomid (I have pcos)

Hoping43 · 23/03/2022 16:07

@lilrosemarie yes was totally gutted last week when my covid test was my first test to show two lines 😭😭💔

xoJellyBean · 23/03/2022 19:02

Ahh thanks all! I'm excited but also a bit concerned that my LH is super low... any advice is appreciated 😭

Starting Clomid tomorrow!
Hoping43 · 23/03/2022 19:12

@xoJellyBean what cycle day are you on? I find mine all of a sudden just turns dark. I test twice or even three times a day. 12pm 4pm and 8pm when I’m expecting ovulation so I don’t miss it

lilrosemarie · 23/03/2022 19:32

@xoJellyBean mine turned from faint to full on positive in a matter of 10 hours, so this may happen for you as well. When do you usually ovulate?

Did you have any other follicles or was that the only one your gp mentioned? It’s a bit big for CD10 if you are not due to ovulate soon. Sometimes follicles grow into cysts and then rupture so they’re gone by the next cycle.

But you can only know for sure if you scan after ovulation I guess? And even then there’s not knowing for sure what went down in there. 😬 You may ovulate soon and an egg may be released from that very one follicle … who knows. Fingers crossed for you!!! 🙏🏻❤️

naevo · 23/03/2022 19:51

@user6669 Hey! That's good news that you've fallen pregnant 3 times with it. Was that within the first cycle or more?

@lilrosemarie @Hoping43 ah, I found those covid tests so triggering. I even look at the tests in different rooms/lighting. DH thought I'd gone mad when I saw 2 lines on there a couple months ago, I was just so amazed to see 2 lines on something 😂

@xoJellyBean had a follicle scan on day 10 and had a follicle measuring 23mm. I went for another scan on day 14 and it was only just ovulating then (looked like a big wobbly circle). It can definitely change so fast. I was so worried it wouldn't ovulate and I'd end up with a cyst but in the end I worried for nothing. Xxx

@naevo I was lucky enough to conceive first try many years ago which ended with a MC. I conceived DC1 on two rounds later. And conceived my DC2 on round 2. I tried 2 rounds last year and only ovulated once so took a year out and hoping to continue with some success 🤞🏻

Today was SA day!
Our doctor put a few drops under the microscope and showed us the little thingies haha 🙈 It was quite funny seeing it float around. Anyway, she said it looked good, but the true results will be in in a week or so. Fingers crossed!

How’s everyone else doing?
I’m 2DPO today. 😬 The dreaded tww.

naevo · 24/03/2022 19:18

@user6669 so sorry about your mc. Good to know you've had success with Clomid in the past! Let us know how you get on 😊

I'm feeling very tired but I took my last pill last night. Fingers crossed there's a lot happening down there and just the long wait to the fertile window now!

@lilrosemarie fingers crossed on the SA but hopefully this is your cycle and won't need it! Sending those positive vibes haha! We are still waiting for our fertile window, my guess is it's going to be another sloooow month. Hope your ok and keeping busy in your tww!

I've just started letrozole - could I join?

History - 2 years 1 mo TTC, one MMC, early 30s

@naevo it certainly gives me hope for future pregnancies, I never expected to ever become a mum it took so many years to fall with our first dc. I'm not only restricted by infertility but with c sections too now, so I think if we are lucky enough to have another this will be our last - it has been a tough over the years. How are you feeling in terms of side effects right now? I'm only cycle day 5 so a long wait for ovulation yet if it indeed works. I usually OV around CD20 ish (chart my bbt) Sending you lots of baby dust and good luck 🤞🏻🎇

naevo · 24/03/2022 20:10

@TheDaydreamBelievers hey! Good luck on your first cycle, how have you felt on the medication?

@user6669 it sounds like you've had a tough time. Crazy what we put ourselves through isn't it. I'm feeling better, I'm only on CD6 and I think I'll ovulate on CD14, all being well. How have you been feeling? Sending you loads of luck 🤞🏼

OP posts:
lilrosemarie · 24/03/2022 20:36

@naevo for me waiting for the fertile windows is a lot more exciting than waiting for possible AF or a good time to pee on a stick. 🙈 But I agree those days when you wait for something run much slower.

I hope we are successful with Clomid and I don’t have to undergo any invasive procedures 🙏🏻 just hoping we can concieve naturally although chances are slim considering it’s been over a year now and nothing.

On what days did you guys take Clomid?
My gp said 5 to 10. And then my positive opks were od CD15-16.

@TheDaydreamBelievers welcome! Fingers crossed you concieve on Letrozole. Some say the chances are even better with Letrozole than Clomid (clomiphene citrate).

@user6669 thank you! 🙏🏻 hope days go by quickly for you as well!!

And baby dust to you all! ❤️✨

TheDaydreamBelievers · 24/03/2022 20:40

Thanks @lilrosemarie @naevo! I literally just started it today, gave me a headache but otherwise okay. I am a bit worried that apparently it can cause weight gain and hair loss - was already having those issues!

user6669 · 28/03/2022 09:22

How are you all doing?
I'm CD9 today, mainly hot flushes & irritable in terms of side effects and some twinges on and off randomly. Just waiting for ovulation day now which I'm hoping will be in the next 14 days 😊

TopSecret99 · 28/03/2022 09:58

@user6669 snap, I'm on CD9 too so waiting for ovulation! I'm feeling fine, I didn't an OPK this morning, hoping to ovulation on CD14 or before as going away with family after that and might be a bit hard to BD if you know what I mean lol x

@topsecret99 cycle day twins 😆👋 haha wishing you lots of luck! Hopefully ovulation is coming up soon for you, I usually ovulate a little later like cd20 odd on clomid (nothing without of course) so hoping I at least ovulate. Keeping everything crossed 🤞🏻

TopSecret99 · 28/03/2022 10:55

@user6669

Best of luck to you too lovely! We got this 💪🏼 It's a long slog isn't it- I feel like these cycles take forever at the moment. Just got to try and remain positive and know it will all be worth it in the end! X
