Here we go! Thread 14 for the nicest bunch of women on Mumsnet

Thread 13 was very joyful and very painful for me, but what it has shown me is that even old warhorses like me can get lucky, so there's no excuse for all you nubile young honies not to deliver the goods! Come on now, Mama Hester expects you to do your duty by your fellow ttc-ers

Get ready now, 1 - 2 - 3, GO!!!

Hi joshy - I'm pregnant with ds2 age 37 - took 3 months same as with ds1 - what worked for me was monitoring my cervical mucus and going at it like the proverbial for a few days when it changed. Have you had a go at this method? Good luck - it can be done!

Tania2 · 26/11/2004 02:35

Jeddah and Hester my friend just told me today that her neighbour just had a baby at 45 see people are doing it later it does happen.

Bella23 · 26/11/2004 08:42

Babydust to you all !!
Succumbed to a test this morning and YE HA ...a BFP!!
I was so convinced I had all AF signs that it is a real shock !

The main thing I did differently this month was to excercise. I had read on one of your threads that it was good to kick start the body therefore I started biking. Another thing I did was to go on this site which I am sure has brought me good luck so I am passing it on to you all !!

I hope it is you turn next and shall be sending all good thoughts to you all !
xxx

Hi
Pleased to join this thread as TCC for 6 months now and am older woman (38). Conceived DS1 easily but am becoming heart-broken with not conceiveing and am worried about time running out ? Anyone out there who has had some fertility treatment and can give me some advice ? Heard there is a "pill" you can take that increases your chances.

Sallie · 26/11/2004 10:48

Fantastic news Bella - take good care of yourself . The rest of us are all, of course a teensy weensy bit envious!!!

Hulababy · 26/11/2004 12:09

Congratulations bella That's great news!

hester · 26/11/2004 12:22

Hi Marinda and welcome. First of all, compared to some of us on here you are a mere baby! Second, don't panic: you already have one child so you are probably fertile, and six months is not long to be trying. I think the average time it takes to conceive is six months, and for women in their late 30s it will usually take a bit longer than that. Having said that, the usual advice for women our age is to seek advice after six months, so a trip to your doctor would probably be a good idea. At the least, s/he could arrange some tests for you to check you are ovulating ok etc and that there are no obvious problems. It may be worth having your dp's sperm count checked too. I suspect the pill you are referring to is Clomid? - which really helps some women, but may or may not be useful for you (it has some risks, so will only be prescribed for you if your doctor thinks you need it).

Also, are you doing everything you could do yourself to boost your chances e.g. monitoring your fertility? You'll find loads of tips on here...

Morning girls....

Congrats Bella

well i had a text chat with dp this morning and he made me cry. we are going for dinner with friends tonight and one of the couples are expecting in Jan. dp told me he's been dreading it because he's insanely jealous of them! i thought it was just us women who got emotional about all this. he said it hurts him because he REALLY wants it to be us.........i couldn't help but cry.....didn't realise it was affecting him so much.

while we're talking about exercise has anyone else found it has helped? i'm desperate to get my cycles regulated and wondered if getting on my exercise bike every day might help. i should use it anyway but need motivation

well off i go to do some housework.......

geordie · 26/11/2004 12:57

congats Bella...hope some more of us can join you on the due in agust thread.

Moschops- I fell pg last time after doing an intense training month for a local charity run...so I think it can help!

morningpaper · 26/11/2004 13:04

Day 23 here and really want to test although don't think there is any chance this month as I feel totally normal. Trying to be controlled but am completely WEAK and am bound to rush out and buy a test later on. Love to all especially BELLA!

Bella23 · 26/11/2004 13:28

Poor Moschops - sorry to hear about DH getting upset and making you cry. It must be reasuring though to know that he is going through this time with you. Small consolation I know but he sounds one in a million!

Twiga · 26/11/2004 13:40

Hi all, and a special welcome to the thread for Joshy, Magkel and Marinda ++++++++++

Huge congratulations to Bella on the BFP !

Oh Moschops, poor dp , what a lovely man, hope the dinner thing goes ok tonight x

I'm another one of us that needs a kick up the backside on an excercise front, would dearly like to lose about a stone - put on since married, too much good cooking and side effect from pill. Was really good a few months back about going to the gym but since mc haven't really bothered. Why don't we all keep a check on eachother and see if we can't be one of the fittest ttc threads ever, with of course the added bonus that it might just help the whole process ?!

BeckiF · 26/11/2004 13:55

Hi all, I haven't been on much as I'm going through an enormously low patch (could be a bit of depression, you never know). My temps have started going up and down so I'm of the opinion that temping is not for me. Have decided to get into the IVF clinic as soon as poss after the New Year.

runtus · 26/11/2004 14:07

Afternoon all! Been away from the pc since Weds so this is my first chance to catch up with you all.........glad the party went well Tania - sounds fab!

Massive congrats to the BFP - well done girl!!

Would you believe there is still no sign at all of af??? Now on day 49 and look to be heading towards missing it entirely. Did another HPT on Monday just to convince myself I'm not going mental and got the preictable BFN,thinking now that if AF doesn't show by the weekend I am going to have top pay the DR's a visit and see what he says. Is there anything they can give me to make me come on or do I just have to wait it out? What if I never come on, do I never get to take my pills???Sorry, as youi ay be able to tell, this is playing on my mind a bit! Think I would be handling it much better if the Clomid wasn't looking at me everyday!

runtus · 26/11/2004 14:10

Ooh and I'm up for the TTC fitness challenge - who's in???

Bella23 · 26/11/2004 14:11

Sorry Beckif that you are feeling low.......no words of wisdom I am afraid just lots of hugs xx

RudyDudy · 26/11/2004 14:13

hello all - had a really busy couple of days so not managed to log on and the thread seems to have run wild...as always! Will have a quick scan down for juicy bits

RudyDudy · 26/11/2004 14:19

Congrats Bella Wishing you a very healthy and happy 9 months.

Welcome to Joshy, Magkel & Marinda. This thread moves very fast but is a fabulous source of support and information (and laughs - great joke munnzieb

RudyDudy · 26/11/2004 14:21

((((becki)))) so sorry to hear you've been feeling low . Sounds like it might be an idea to have a break from the temping. Sending lots of babydust and hugs your way.

RudyDudy · 26/11/2004 14:26

So what's the fitness challenge then? I'd definitely be up for it, though not sure when I'd fit anything in. At the moment I do a yoga class once a week and walk with DS probably about 1 hour a day. (My best bet might actually be laying off the Dairy Milk ). But always open to a challenge...pedometers seem to be the thing of the moment, perhaps we could have a steps per day / week challenge?

CD11 here for me and nothing too exciting going on apart from the fact (TMI warning) that I am as horny as hell! So lots of bd action around here but unfortunately at completely the wrong time!! I have about 8/9 more days until Ov so hoping that I'm not peaking too soon (so to speak ). The really good thing about it is that it reassures dh that I'm not just after him for his swimmers iykwim

Anyway, lots of love and babydust to all you lovely ladies xxx
