Here we go! Thread 14 for the nicest bunch of women on Mumsnet

Thread 13 was very joyful and very painful for me, but what it has shown me is that even old warhorses like me can get lucky, so there's no excuse for all you nubile young honies not to deliver the goods! Come on now, Mama Hester expects you to do your duty by your fellow ttc-ers

Get ready now, 1 - 2 - 3, GO!!!

I'm in runtus. what exactly are we committing ourselves to btw?

hi to all the new 'faces' & big gongratulations to bella

sorry you & dh are having a hard time beckif xxx

pooka · 26/11/2004 14:37

Congrats Bella
Sorry you're feeling low, Tania It must be really emotional having your ds's birthday party, such a tangible indication that he's getting older - mixed feelings, I'm sure. Hope you feel more up (and cooler) soon,

Still no AF here. Now on cd 32. Haven't a clue what's going on. I know I've said I have irregular periods, but not by much more than a dy or two. Def not pregnant as tested yesterday, think I have a bug as feel very hot and shivery. Would that delay AF?

Really hoping that AF comes soon now, as want to get started on another cycle, the sooner the better. Really worried and annoyed that periods don't seem to have settled down properly even though dd now 16 months (but did breast feed until 12 months).

Baby dust to all hoping to test soon.

morningpaper · 26/11/2004 14:40

Ooh ok then, I have just ordered a FREE pedometer from Walker's Crisps website!!! One per household - do it ladies!! It says delivery time is up to 12 weeks although this sounds a LITTLE extreme...

Maybe if we all take enough little steps we'll be hearing the patter of OTHER little steps sooner rather than later!

RudyDudy · 26/11/2004 14:41

hi pooka - can't help really re AF but I wouldn't have thought that a bug would delay it. Sorry not to be more help but I do understand how you feel. When my AF was late last month I got to the stage of wanting it to arrive so I could start another cycle. Fingers crossed for you.

RudyDudy · 26/11/2004 14:42

that's a lovely thought mp

hester · 26/11/2004 14:48

Twiga, I'm definitely up for the get-fit-and-fertile campaign! Don't want to be too ambitious - at my age you have to choose between your face and your figure, and I'm not too raddled yet - but half a stone would be brilliant. I am going to go to the gym three times a week, and I have just sent off for my pedometer (thanks for the link, morningpaper). Anyone know how much we shoudl walk each day?

Becki, I'm so sorry you're feeling so low. Wish we lived a bit closer and I could pop round to make you a cup of tea and talk it all through. You are going through so much and it is unfair. I do hope the decision to move to IVF in the New Year will give you some fresh energy and hope. You are such a wonderful support for everyone else on this thread - and certainly for me - and you really deserve some luck for yourself now. I was so touched by your vision of your September baby and I keep now thinking of that for myself - funnily enough, kind of what it more than I want an August baby!

runtus - day 49 you poor love; what a head. Big hugs to you.

moschops - I was really moved by what you told us about your dp. It's so easy for us to think that it's just about us and our feelings, isn't it? He sounds a lovely man.

Running used to be my thing. Did a marathon just before dd conceived, had never been so fit, or so thin. Must admit that I'd been wondering whether it'd be a good idea to try and get fitter to replicate my physical condition when last conceived. Was rather underweight if naything, then. Oh blimey, I suppose I'll have to make the effort now.....harumphhhh. Count me in!

moschops · 26/11/2004 15:56

i know i am soooooo lucky to have my dp. he really is a wonderful man, i sometimes take him for granted.

Becki > hope you start to feel better soon. you really are overdue some happiness. you always have words of comfort for everyone on here, there is always an ear if you need it.

well i just read on the news that Madonna is 'seeing what happens', which all us ttc'ers know is a load of bull!!! she'll be going crazy just like the rest of us!

i am having a nightmare trying to decide what to wear tonight. i don't want to make my pregnant friend feel awkward. she's erm (how do i put this politely) a big girl anyway, and i'm the one you all love to hate (skinny, no matter what i eat). i don't want to be overdressed but am taking the (rare) opportunity to get dressed up.

lol shouldn't be too hard i've only got about three things to choose from anyway!!

anyone else got plans for tonight? or the weekend?

hester · 26/11/2004 16:08

moschops - she's PREGNANT, she can wear her pounds with pride, - let her feel awkward! You're obviously a very sweet friend, but this is definitely the occasion to think, 'I may not be pg but hell, at least I can flaunt my natural assets!'

Tell you what, we'll all love to hate you instead, you skinny moo!

Seriously, have a lovely time. Enjoy your flat stomach while you've still got it

Twiga · 26/11/2004 17:28

{{{hugs}}} BeckiF and Tania, lol x

Right then that's seven of us on the old keep-fit thing: Me, Runtus, Rudydudy, Ernest, Morningpaper,Hester and Pooka. I've also ordered a pedometer thought might as well give it a go. Reckon we should keep this nice and easy, each one of us decide what our goal is ie Hester is aiming for the gym 3 times a week and then we nag eachother into sticking to it - should we start a thread for it? We could start from tomorrow and report in our progress at least once a week, say saturday to saturday. Once we get our pedometers we could record our step seach day as well?

Twiga · 26/11/2004 17:29

Oh, Tania, nearly forgot - Happy birthday to your ds (it's stil friday here)!

hester · 26/11/2004 17:31

Go for it, Twiga! Call it the fertility fitness club, or something!

I shall go to the gym tomorrow, to get started. Either I will turn by body into a temple fit to grow the most beautiful baby in the world, or I shall be childless but at least looking like a goddess!

munnzieb · 26/11/2004 17:32

lol @hester!! so what's this challenge then girls, as lonng as it doesn't involve......

  1. joining a gym
  2. 'trying to diet
  3. trying to give up choc and wine

then i'm in! (oh and i'm not keen on sit ups so will avoid them if poss??)

Twiga · 26/11/2004 17:42

ok, will start us off once typed this! Munzie, the idea is set your own goal - hopefully achievable and then we all nag you to make sure you stick to it - if nothing else the extra christmas pounds might not stick as much as usual. We thought we'd try the whole excersice helps conception theory, also the natural endorphine release might help us keep our chins up! Definately does not mean giving up chocolate or wine!

Twiga · 26/11/2004 17:43

doesn't include dieting, and only involves the gym if that's how you want to keep fit!

munnzieb · 26/11/2004 17:48

good good twiga, here's my worpped sence of logic here (and please know i'm a natural blonde .... no offense to those who are also blondes but I tend to live up to the reputation of being a bit dense at times! lol)

I go swimming twice a week mon and thurs and do at least 40 lenghts (30 is half a mile) and as such I feel as a reward I can have my choc triffle after or a mars bar.... that way i'm keeping my weight even and apparently toning up??

Twiga · 26/11/2004 18:20

Sounds just fine Munzie! Hoping the gym will even out the balance out on tonights Indian take away with Bacardi Breezer !

Right the thread is up and running, question is are you ? how fit are we?

munnzieb · 26/11/2004 19:01
