Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has been for a first appointment at the ACU in Dundee. My husband and I have our first appointment together at the end of January and just wondering what to expect.

@mrsmacmc
Not long to go until test day for you now!

@RRk1469 do you mean 30th December?
If not then wow that's throwing a spanner in my estimates. Mindlessly recalculating potential imaginary due dates in my overthinking brain 🤣
What renovation work needs done?

Still no appointment through for consultation and that's us about 8 weeks after AMH bloods and 6 weeks after results.

Some people have said they have been months before starting treatment after final consultation and others seem to be starting the month after.

Had it in my head about getting a letter through before Xmas but now I'm saying January for feb/March then starting April/may!

TTC86 · 12/12/2022 21:02

@thecaseofthepurplecushion We are a same sex couple too and went to GP in March 2021 and are hoping to be starting treatment in Feb so approx 2 years from GP referral to treatment starting.

@CuriousAries It's closed till end of Jan for works that need carried out to the side of the building. 🤷‍♀️

That's us been 3 months since our bloods appointment until our final consultation which is this week and think it will be another 2 months to start treatment due to them being closed in Jan but can update after the appointment this week once we get a timescale. Guess it would have been a Jan Start if they weren't closed.

CuriousAries · 12/12/2022 21:09

@TTC86
Yes please update after your appointment.
Do you know if just the lab is shut or the whole department eg- consultations etc. surely not as they can't all just stop working?

Kinda feel they should have sent this out at AMH time to manage people's expectations!

TTC86 · 12/12/2022 21:26

@CuriousAries I'm wondering if it's work they werent expecting to be needing done. They said to me they will still be doing appointments and scans but can't do treatments as they are going to have to move units for the month. So hopefully if you're waiting on an appointment it won't delay it.

TW mentions OTD test

Some happy news @CuriousAries today was our OTD test d-day and we've got a sticky bean 🫘

Scan on the 29th December 🤞🏻 🫘 sticks and continues to grow and develop 💖

I've been trying really hard not to symptom spot however the ones I picked up on were:
Hot boobs
Sore pinchy nipples (that's the worst one!)
Spotting at 4-5DPT
Loads of CM mixed in with the pessaries (lovely 🤢)
Slight constipation
RHR has steadily been clicking up a beat
Sore gums and a dirty feeling mouth
My thirst has gone off the scale too!

I've been drinking a glass of pomegranate juice religiously daily, getting my steps in, training myself to sleep on my left side, been mindful of stretching, not lifting anything heavier than Ddog who is 6kg and had fluffy socks on my feet at all times 😂

Very surreal having to call the GP to let them know and then contact the local midwifery team to get registered with them 😳 the surgery said do it now so that we're on the system.

The test to the right of the pic is what ACU gave us on transfer day. I've also done a FRER test as I had heard clearblue can be wonky.

Thank you! I've got all my positive vibes coming your way too ✨

RRk1469 · 14/12/2022 18:28

Ahhh @mrsmmrsmacmc massive congratulations that is amazing. @CuriousAries can you not email an just ask which month you're due to start. Thats what I done and they told me back in September I was on the wait list for starting in Dec.

They told.me it was closed for electrical rewiring. However it was only the lab shut for that length of time so they would carry on with Normal appointments However no egg retrieval or embryo transfers.

I actually had a bit of a whoops moment. Turns out I filled my form in wrong and I've ticked for my eggs to be mixed with donor sperm 🤣🤣🤣

Update- telephone appointment on 18th Jan with Dr Martins da Silva. Says it's an hour long. But if it's just to say what protocol and answer any Qs it won't be that long?

Has everyone else's been telephone? Thought I read maybe some people's had been changed to Teams/ in person?

@TTC86 how did your appointment go last week? Was it a telephone app?

CuriousAries · 19/12/2022 09:55

@RRk1469 whoops!
Was this back on the consent forms? I can't remember. I'll be double checking now 🤣

TTC86 · 19/12/2022 10:36

@CuriousAries it went well thanks. I've to call on my January cycle to start, although not due till end of Jan so will start in Feb.
Feels so close now but January is always the longest month ever so will feel even longer this year I'm sure 😂

I had a telephone one but it got changed to in person. That was our first appointment though that was scheduled as telephone originally.

@sjp00 how did your appointment go last week?

sjp00 · 19/12/2022 10:43

@TTC86 It went okay, I didn't really learn anymore than I already knew looking online, and they weren't able to tell me when I could start, just said definitely not January as they were closed, which is confusing as we were told January 3 times and puzzling that they have told you to phone on January period.. it's getting too confusing for me now, the consultant was asking why our scans were booked in and then cancelled which is something the unit done, it just didn't feel very clear to me and she said there was a bit of miscommunication which was slightly frustrating to hear.

We have been told next step is the business manager phoning us in January, to maybe start in February or maybe start in March, we weren't told where we were on the waiting list, really we just got told we would be on the mild protocol which we knew from our letter and the timescale for this.

A bit deflating waiting 10 weeks for AMH results, 9 weeks for our appointment yet feeling no further forward :( My patience skills are definitely improving at least, they have to be with this process haha

@CuriousAries
ours was through the near me platform. From memory, ours lasted about 50mins and didn't have many questions. We've had conflicting comms throughout our journey too and they've been OK when I've queried it with them to get the correct version. Agree at times it feels a bit left hand v right hand 🤨

I ended up at our local EPU this morning as have had some bleeding. All good with Wonky so far 🤞🏻 they were able to see the yolk sac and confirm Wonky hadn't decided to go for a wander elsewhere! They also identified a fibroid low down in my womb which has popped up since my last endo surgery in July this year which they will monitor. Scan on the 29 at Dundee when we will 'graduate' fully to local midwifery care 💖 🤞🏻

sjp00 · 20/12/2022 16:40

My appointment only lasted maybe 15/20 minutes at most :( I’ve ended up emailing again to ask when our start month will roughly be. It feels like never-ending uncertainty, the light at the end of the tunnel is not in sight yet! Here’s hoping for some positive news in 2023!

@mrsmacmc glad to hear everything is okay xx

sjp00 · 30/12/2022 14:52

Hope everyone had a good Christmas :)

Unfortunately we received a letter yesterday to say that once egg collection is done, there is a 3 month wait before a frozen embryo transfer can be done. The letter says additional screening has to be done to the woman donating the eggs, three months after before they can arrange embryo transfer. Being fully honest I don’t understand the letter and showed my mum who’s a midwife who doesn’t get it either so I’ve contacted for further clarity, they have to wait on the embryology team who aren’t back until the New Year. I also asked if we had a revised start date which they said we don’t :( So disheartening, especially receiving more delays and finding out on a letter which to me doesn’t read clear, feels like yet another bit of miscommunication. Wondering if anyone else has been faced with these delays?

have a good new year everyone, hopefully 2023 is luckier xx

TTC86 · 01/01/2023 18:11

@mrsmacmc glad everything was OK. Must have been so worrying. Hope you're scan went OK on 29th.

@sjp00 Oh no! Sorry to hear you're having to wait even longer than you thought.
Hope you can get some clarity once the team are all back in January! And hopefully the egg collection can go ahead in February/March so that you can start the transfer in Summer.

I know all the waiting is the worst part, but just try to keep yourself busy and it will come round quickly.

mrsmacmc · 01/01/2023 18:43

Happy New Year everyone 🥰

@TTC86 it was and still is (when does the paranoia stop 😩) scan went OK on the 29 thank you, we've officially 'graduated' from ACU to local midwife service 🎉 we've got a follow up scan on 03 at EPU so a wee extra sneaky scan to check all is well. I think the hardest thing I've found is going from such regular contacts with ACU to pretty much nothing until we see our local midwife in a few weeks time ❤️

RRk1469 · 09/01/2023 22:08

Hello all! @mmrsmacmc how was your scan on the 3rd?

I phoned on day one of my cycle and I'm due for a injection on the 24th January (I'm.doing the long protocol) this is to suppress my ovulation. I thought I had to do these daily but she said this would keep me topped up?? Has anyone heard of this method? I then have a Scan on the 6th to check its worked then I start daily stims.

@TTC86 we might be starting around the same time!?
