Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has been for a first appointment at the ACU in Dundee. My husband and I have our first appointment together at the end of January and just wondering what to expect.

@LAW89 maybe give them an email to find out where you are on the schedule 💕 I hope it's not too long for you

CuriousAries · 27/11/2022 21:53

@mrsmacmc
Thinking of you tomorrow!
Does that mean they are transferring a day 7 embryo?

mrsmacmc · 27/11/2022 22:00

@CuriousAries thank you

🤦‍♀️ my PP should've been a day 3 call not day 5, it's a day 5 ET tomorrow. Apologies my brain 🧠 is fried!! Think it's time to put myself to bed 😴

CuriousAries · 27/11/2022 22:10

Don't worry!

Are you going for your McDonald's fries after transfer? 🤣

@sjp00...the packs we discussed...and you mentioned the unit said they were prepping Decs appointments...I caved and emailed (have played it chill so far) as thought that would mean me for December since I've had a pack...but they replied saying no appointment booked in for me at the moment! So now I'm thinking there's another pack?🤣 will be interesting to hear what info/ timescales you get on 15th Dec...im adding 2/3 months on now from what I've been recently thinking.

mrsmacmc · 27/11/2022 22:19

@CuriousAries absolutely a large 🍟 and a large tea ☕️ sounds honking (would much prefer a chocolate milkshake 😂, sadly my tummy doesn't do milk 😭) I've got the nearest Maccas pinned on my Google maps!

I hope you get your appointment soon 🤞🏻 I would email them back and ask what the timescales are even if they can give you a rough ballpark ❤️ I'm sure the admin team have rolled their eyes 🙄 along with the nursing staff about the questions we've asked along the way!

LAW89 · 27/11/2022 22:29

@mrsmacmc ah how exciting! Everything crossed for you 🥰 good shout. I’ll drop them an email tomorrow just to see roughly when.

sjp00 · 27/11/2022 22:37

@CuriousAries How confusing! It doesn’t help that no one gets the same information :( strange that you have your pack yet no appointment yet I have an appointment but no pack.. I can’t understand that at all! I will keep you updated on Dec 15th!!

This is what they said to me November 8th (can’t remember if I already put this or not):

”You will receive a pack when you are due to start treatment prior to your start month.
At the moment we are call for December patients and preparing their packs, once we have completed these we will be starting on January patients, and will be in touch with this for you soon.”

I would of thought if you had the pack you’d be quite soon now, or at the very least have an app. It’s such a guessing game just now! xx

RRk1469 · 27/11/2022 23:29

@CuriousAries @sjp00 can I ask what packs you are referring to? Not sure I've had a "pack" yet!!? I'm supposed to be starting in 2 weeks and I'm just so confused. Will probably email tonight's and hopefully get a reply tomorrow

FSF85 · 28/11/2022 10:35

@mrsmacmc fingers crossed for you today, I hope it all goes well & enjoy your McDonald’s 🍟!!

FSF85 · 28/11/2022 10:39

I’m really struggling with the timescales at the moment. I turn 37 at the end of next month and it just feels like we’re no further forward than a year ago 😔 I tried phoning the clinic this morning to ask about having my AMH tested again prior to treatment however the voicemail message now says that the line will not be answered due to staffing issues. I’ve sent an email instead so hopefully will get a reply to that. Just feeling quite lost and hopeless as I like to feel like I’m doing something and right now it’s just waiting and more waiting. AF also arrived today which isn’t helping as I’m like an emotional wreck each month 😢

@CuriousAries it will be good to know when they’re planning to send out your pack! We’ve had literally no correspondence since being added to the waitlist nearly 3 months ago

mrsmacmc · 28/11/2022 15:26

@FSF85 hugs the waiting is the most horrible part we've found along with the lack of comms, feels very much like a don't tell if not asked sometimes ❤️

🤞🏻 they reply to you soon, we've found them pretty good with email comms ✨

mrsmacmc · 28/11/2022 15:28

That's us PUPO 🤞🏻 I've had my Maccas 🍟 and now the 2ww begins. They transferred in a 4AA embryo and we've got 5 Frosties

Hoping for a sticky 🫘 ✨ ❤️

CuriousAries · 28/11/2022 18:38

@mrsmacmc woohoo! Well done.
Is it just pessaries now for the next wee while?
Are you back to work or taking time off?
Can I also ask, sorry for all the questions, did they give you the choice of more than 1 embryo? I know there's guidelines etc but from what I can tell they can only advise and it's up to you if you wanted 2 transferred?

CuriousAries · 28/11/2022 18:40

@RRk1469 it was just a timeline of a typical cycle and some info about what happens at each stage. More info on a post from myself below.
Maybe it's not the packs the unit are on about...maybe the packs they are preparing are the meds? Who knows!

LAW89 · 28/11/2022 20:24

@CuriousAries have you had your last consultation prior to being told that the next contact means it will start? We got sent out a “pack” but it was details of everything that would happen.

@CuriousAries thank you 🤞🏻 they are a sticky bean 🫘

Yup pessaries until OTD test, they gave us a PT today to take away with us.

I have tomorrow booked off but will be back at work on Wednesday, I need to stay distracted but will be taking it easy. I had a danger nap after tea tonight 😆

1 or 2 wasn't discussed formally with them, DH and I had already decided that we would put 1 back rather than 2. There are twins lurking in DH gene pool 🧬 and my gene pool is unknown due to being adopted - we didn't want to risk ending up with quads!!

Please ask away, happy to try and answer any questions ❤️

FSF85 · 02/12/2022 10:06

Quick question to those that received texts from the ACU after being on the waitlist….I received this today but haven’t had any other correspondence! Were you sent consent forms or a portal login separately?

sjp00 · 02/12/2022 10:13

@RRk1469 Sorry for the late response, I myself am not to sure exactly what the pack is, I only knew about it from this thread (honestly, this thread has been more useful for info than the actual unit!) Did you email them to ask? x

@mrsmacmc Hope all is going well, can imagine the waiting is such a nerve wracking feeling, all fingers crossed for you 👏x

@FSF85 I received a text 16/11/21 with my patient ID and key phrase code, I would give them a contact if you haven't got that as it should have come from the same number x

RRk1469 · 12/12/2022 09:57

Hello I hope everyone is well? It has been a bit quiet here recently. My treatment has been pushed back again as it didn't fit in with the December closure days. I will start with my next cycle they told me however I'm on the long protocol so it's a bit of a longer process usual genuinely so tired of waiting 😭 where is everyone and how is everyone feeling?

OP posts:
sjp00 · 12/12/2022 12:35

Oh no :( When are the December closures? I have an appointment this Thursday (15/12) which I am hoping is going to be a "you're good to go, phone us on day one of your periods" but we shall see!

I am definitely at the wanting to pull my hair out stage, having trouble getting a hold of them recently regarding a query, so frustrating that they dont pick up the phones :(

Hope you're well xx

RRk1469 · 12/12/2022 13:50

@ssjp00 the lab will close from the 22nd of December to the 30th January. So they've said anyone starting their period before the 17th of December needs to be delayed to the following month. So annoying as my period came the 10th 🙄.

I feel your pain it's quite annoying. But they are fairly quick at replying to emails so that's not too bad.

Have you had a video consultation?

OP posts:
TTC86 · 12/12/2022 16:24

@RRk1469 oh no that's annoying at least you will start on your next cycle though. Not too long a wait and Christmas will keep you busy the next few weeks so it will come in quickly.

I can't remember who asked me before if we were having another appointment before starting treatment... think it was @CuriousAries . Turns out yes we do have another appointment, we have one this week and I think its to decide which treatment we will be going for and then we are supposed to be starting on Feb cycle but will hopefully know more after this weeks appointment.

I just can't believe after all this waiting the time is almost here. Roll on February (hopefully).

TTC86 · 12/12/2022 16:26

@sjp00 I'd drop them an email of you're struggling to get hold of them they have always got back to me via email with an answer.

Closed until 30th January?? Wow that's much longer than I expected 😢 I thought it was just going to be a few weeks. Is this for the renovation works to the lab/deep clean etc. do you know?

The waiting is excrutiating...I'm trying my best to distract myself but finding it very hard. I've got an appointment with the counsellor on 26th January which I'm hoping will help a little.

Finger crossed for you being to start asap!

happiertimes123 · 12/12/2022 17:35

Sorry to jump in, my wife and I (same sex couple) are hoping to ttc in a few years. Does anyone know how long the waiting list is for NHS treatment at the moment? We want to start in 2026, is it likely to be a wait as long as 3 years? Thank you!
