Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has been for a first appointment at the ACU in Dundee. My husband and I have our first appointment together at the end of January and just wondering what to expect.

@RRk1469 thank you absolutely over the moon 💜 💖

TTC86 · 19/08/2023 09:16

@mrsmacmc Aw congratulations, that's lovely news. Hope you are all doing well 💗

mrsmacmc · 26/08/2023 22:35

@TTC86 thank you 🥰 doing OK I think we've just about found which way is up 😅

She's dropped a little weight but HV not concerned, weigh in again on Tuesday

I'm recovering OK from CS, the PICO dressing has helped massively with the healing process 🤞🏻 as I'm really anxious about getting an infection or not healing well

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is good!

My partner & I have finally got our embryo transfer confirmation & we start on Octobers period (which is obviously at the end of the month!) very excited for the next steps after having our embryos in quarantine for 3 months!

Ducky4 · 04/12/2023 17:33

Hi folks, thought I’d send an update

includes pregnancy test results

We had our 2nd frozen embryo transfer mid October after starting a medicated cycle in August. A few things seemed a little different to our first failed FET. My lining was a bit thicker this time around and I was seriously emotional during the two week wait. We tested early this time, on day 10. We got a line. What a surreal moment…
We had our first scan during week 7 with ACU and we are due our 12 week scan in a couple of weeks. We’ve also met our midwife. It’s really only sinking in now, every little milestone makes me feel a little more reassured, but I’m still cautious and taking things one day at a time.

Wishing everyone well and sending good thoughts to you all xxx

TTC86 · 04/12/2023 20:50

@sjp00 Oh so glad you finally got to start, what a long wait you've had. Hope everything is going well so far and the first transfer went well?

@Ducky4 OMG congratulations that's so exciting. So lovely to hear some more good news.

sjp00 · 04/12/2023 21:16

@TTC86 It was a long wait! Hope all is well with you ☺️ first transfer went great and we tested positive on the 14th of November, we are up next week for our first scan!! Xx

TTC86 · 04/12/2023 21:21

@sjp00 Oh that's amazing news! Worth all the waiting then! Congratulations!

Yea all good here can't believe our due date is next month! It feels crazy to say that!

Hep1989 · 11/12/2023 22:36

Hey everyone, I’m so pleased I found this thread. It’s been really helpful to read about everyone’s journey. I’m based in Stirling, I had my HSG Xray on Friday at forth valley, but have seen on another thread that I’ll be referred to Ninewells for IVF? I came off the pill in 2019 and when looking at the Hsg xray, am sure I saw a blocked tube. I’ve been given a 4/6 week wait for the results. How long did it take for everyone to get a referral after their Hsg? My little sister had her first baby on Wednesday and whilst I’m over the moon about becoming an auntie and haven’t compared myself to any of my friends before, it’s been a really hard week. Any advice and timelines other folk had would be much appreciated! Wishing everyone luck on their journey 💖

TTC86 · 12/12/2023 13:07

@Hep1989 Welcome!

Try not to overthink what you seen on the HSG and just wait on the results as they could surprise you. Know that's easier said than done.

I had my HSG at the Vic in Kirkcaldy and then we had a another appointment there a few months later to go over all the test results and for them to send the referral etc.

Then it was about 6 months from the final appt at the Vic to my first appt at Ninewells, then around 5 months from that appointment to start treatment (although we had IUI so the waiting list is different).

Hope that helps

It's tought, but you will get there!

How is everyone getting on?

I've been meaning to reply many a time. And even though I haven't, I have been reading back posts and thinking about you all.

Our wee one arrived last December and I can't believe I'm now already thinking of his 1st birthday!

I met another Ninewells ACU mum at a baby class who went through it just a few months after me so that's been nice to have someone to speak to. And they have already been back for a consultation regarding their frozen embryos.

For us lucky ones that were successful with our first, and have frozen embryos, is anyone thinking or going through their second time?

Sending all my love to you all and hope you are all in a more positive place than when I last posted

Hello @CuriousAries ! It was nice to get a notification from this thread, I felt as though I used to spend everyday on here.

After what felt like a forever wait we had our first embryo transfer November 2023 which stuck, and now have a 3 month old baby. It’s so crazy how quick time has gone!

We are taking a couple of years in between our first and second but have already debated whether we put ourselves on the waiting list again so we’re good to go when we decide to have another!

hope everyone is doing well and all the little ones who have arrived are doing amazing ❤️

mrsmacmc · 22/10/2024 22:41

@CuriousAries

Lovely to hear from you 🥰 our DD is nearly 15months old now 💖 snoozing away next to me (for now!) as I'm camping in with her tonight she hasn't been well with nursery bugs 😞

Like you I pop on and have a read back the thread, go to post but then get distracted 🫣

Unfortunately at the moment we aren't thinking of a sibling round yet as I've been left with health things that are a bit up in the air. Slowly getting my pink 🦩 back though it has been a challenge.

MrsMacttc · 22/10/2024 23:07

Aww what a lovely post! So happy for you all 🥰

things in my life have taken a different turn, I struggled to lose weight to meet the criteria and it put a massive strain on my marriage, that and other issues has let to me getting divorced.

Im now happily single, have lost the weight (and more), and am trying to enjoy life and still hope that one day I might get my miracle 🥰

TTC86 · 23/10/2024 01:48

@CuriousAries
This is so nice to hear from everyone. Our little one is now 9 months (currently up as we also have a little unwell baby, must be something going round).

Glad everyone is doing well, and glad you are in a good place @MrsMacttc. Hope things work out for you if and when you decide to start the journey again.

Ducky4 · 23/10/2024 05:55

Hi Folks,
Great to hear an update!
We had a successful 2nd transfer in October 2023, but unfortunately experienced miscarriage the day before Christmas.

We has our 3rd transfer in May and I’m now 25weeks pregnant with a girl 💗 Feeling movement helps with the reassurance, hopefully everything continues to go well this time around 🤞

Wishing everyone well on their journeys xxx

BNA23 · 23/10/2024 07:01

It's so lovely to hear everyone's updates. Good idea @CuriousAries 😊

Unfortunately our pregnancy ended with a TFMR. It was the worst 2 weeks of our lives with various testing and waiting for results. Due to gestational age it meant I had to have an induction and labour but I'm really glad because it meant we got to meet and hold our tiny boy🩵

We went back for a FET in December and amazingly that one stuck too. All was well with that pregnancy and we now have a healthy and happy 2 month old. Another little boy🩵🥰

Hep1989 · 23/10/2024 09:54

This is so so lovely! And very timely!!

I finally made it to the top of the waiting list and had my first injection on Tuesday!! I’ve been feeling a bit negative about the chances of success, as statistically seems low. However, all of your stories have cheered me up and hopefully this time next year I’ll be able to join you in cuddling my baby or my bump!✨

ivfgotachance · 23/10/2024 14:41

I'm sat in tears reading everyone's updates. Isn't it such a rollercoaster of a journey!

In our first round we collected 17 eggs 12 mature 6 fertilised 1 made it to day 5 for transfer. I don't know about you ladies but I have zero patience and tested far too early but around 6dp5dt we got a positive. I started bleeding a few days later and the pregnancy was no more. First round done.
We went for our second round collected 12 10 mature 8 fertilised and 7 made it to day 5! 1 transferred and 6 in the freezer. I bled before OTD and got bfn test. We're going for our first FET next month and I'm so excited!

Congratulations to everyone getting to love on their beautiful babies! And to everyone still on their journey, I wish you all the best of luck and the stickiest of babydust ✨

RRk1469 · 06/01/2025 08:12

Hope everyone is doing good. I haven't come on here in ages!

Just to say to everyone I started this thread 4 years ago just as I was going for my first appointment at the acu. After 6 years of trying/ waiting we now have a 10 month old boy!! The wait is hard but sooo worth it!

Good luck to everyone!!
