There seems to be so many people who become pregnant in the first 3 months of trying.... or it takes much longer. Intrigued by actual statistics from you ladies on here.

How many cycles did it take you?

(I am trying for baby number 1 and moving into the 8th cycle of TTC)

4 cycles after coming off the pill. And I realise that makes us very lucky as it can take much longer for some. I tracked my ovulation as we didn't actually dtd that much - it's all about the timing in my experience!

Stressymcstress · 23/11/2021 10:07

6 months after coming off the pill. I think I had 5 cycles in that time, I was a bit irregular.

I agree with PP about tracking ovulation properly. I fell pregnant the first month I used the tests.

Turniptracker · 23/11/2021 10:07

2 cycles of actually properly trying and following my body's signs for ovulation (changes in discharge were a key signifier for me). We were surprised it was so quick tbh!

romanroy · 23/11/2021 10:09

Ttc 1: 1st cycle

Ttc2: 15 cycles then 1 failed IUI, 1 successful IVF cycle ending in miscarriage, then another successful IVF cycle.

Life is pretty odd like this

DragonMamma · 23/11/2021 10:10

I came off the Pill and had my BFP 2 weeks later. I realise we were fortunate.

My DC was conceived whilst on the Pill so I suspected it wouldn’t take long.

I know I’m fortunate.

DragonMamma · 23/11/2021 10:10

*my FIRST DC

ButFirstTea · 23/11/2021 10:11

Currently pregnant with first baby, it took us 7 cycles, just over 6 months. At the time this felt like absolutely ages and I was so upset, now I realise that we were very lucky and relatively quick compared to many people.

Its very very normal to take a year to conceive and it doesn't necessarily indicate any fertility issues if you can't. If you're under 35 you can speak to a doctor after 12 months, if you're over you can talk to them after 6 months of trying. Good luck!

Drbrowns · 23/11/2021 10:12

1st: 14cycles, where starting investigations when I got pregnant.
2nd: 6cycles
3rd: 1st cycle

Unarosaes · 23/11/2021 14:07

First pregnancy was on the first cycle trying. Unfortunately this ended in a MMC a few weeks later. I fell pregnant again 4 months after the loss.

Shortmamashortcycles · 23/11/2021 14:59

DD: 10 cycles. Felt like an aeon. Getting my thyroid levels adjusted and taking vitex, and potentially coincidentally moving to a less stressful job seemed to do the trick.

MMC: 2 cycles, was amazed it was so fast. Sadly ended in mc at 13 weeks.

Now: 2 cycles and counting but haven't been able to DTD at the right time yet.

If you need to vent or obsess, feel free to DM me - honestly I felt like my mental health really suffered trying to conceive my daughter.

In terms of stats, this might not be right but iirc... 60% in the first 6 months, 30% in the next 6 months and 10% take longer than a year / need a bit of help. You're not wrong that many people catch in the first 3 months, based on that.

babyboybluex · 23/11/2021 15:04

Unplanned with our first, therefore, I have no idea.

Second, we conceived on the first cycle, however, it sadly ended up as a chemical. Had a period and now 15 weeks pregnant with baby two x

Cop26CopOut · 23/11/2021 15:06

Then 3 IVF cycles.

Guess my story is more of an exception though.

Good luck Flowers.

greenmacaron · 23/11/2021 15:31

One cycle first time round. One cycle second time round.

🤷‍♀️ Who knows, it could easily be pure chance that it’s happened quickly for us. It seems that not much is known about fertility, really.

Emmab321 · 23/11/2021 15:40

6 for me :)

Hopefullywaiting01234 · 23/11/2021 15:48

Thought about trying had sex twice and conceived first time round.

Now on cycle 12 ttc no2. Only thing that is different is age, not been on the pill for a few years and I feel very stressed out this time around 🤷🏼‍♀️

sunsshineshowerss · 23/11/2021 15:57

I've got pregnant 4 times on the first cycle. Miscarried one of those pregnancy's.

amter · 23/11/2021 15:59

1st, 1 cycle
2nd, 2 cycles
3rd. I stopped counting but probably around 20 of trying.

justaddcandlelight · 23/11/2021 16:06

4 pregnancies all the first cycle. I realise I am very lucky.

TupilaLilium · 23/11/2021 16:08

All three pregnancies: I had one proper period after coming off birth control and then conceived on the first full cycle.

Juno231 · 23/11/2021 16:34

Statistically cycle one is the most common to conceive. Something like over 60% will conceive in the first 6 months. 86% in the first year and then I think 92% by the end of the second year.

22 cycles and counting here 😬

mdh2020 · 23/11/2021 16:49

Got pregnant with first one in third month and pregnant with second as soon as I stopped taking the pill. However DiL took 18 months to conceive and my DM says it took them over two years to get pregnant with me. (Younger sister was an accident). So basically, there’s no rhyme or reason to it. DM once told one of my friends to ‘get drunk and have sex on the wardrobe’. It worked!

strawberrysummer19 · 23/11/2021 18:16

18 cycles 1st child (natural)

1 yr of TTC ( 5 yrs it it happens it happens ) pregnant through ivf ( because of my age 39 we went to ivf )

X

Bythebeach · 23/11/2021 18:21

3 children - 1. unplanned one occasion unprotected sex, 2 & 3 first cycle. I know I am very lucky.

eurochick · 23/11/2021 18:25

Theee years to get one that stuck, with the help of ivf (had one miscarriage in that time also after ivf). No cause found.

Dollywilde · 23/11/2021 18:25

DC1: 10 cycles across 13 months of ovulation tracking, temping etc

DC2: A ‘one shag wonder’ 5 days before I thought my period was due, when we weren’t trying and thought after DC1 we’d be absolutely fine without a condom.

I felt like after DC1 I knew everything there is to know about fertility and conception. Turns out the whole thing is a bloody mystery to me still Confused Blush
