@newtolineofduty oh that's good! No more spotting at all and I know I said i wouldn't but I have checked a few times and there's nothing at all! I think I'll be 5 weeks on sat so that's an achievement if I get there! Booked an early scan today for the 23rd and I would be 6+5 ish. Do you think it would show a heartbeat then?

OP posts:
newtolineofduty · 09/12/2021 19:13

@hoola23 yes they say from 6 weeks but I think nearer 7 is more ideal! It depends where baby is etc!!!! How exciting hun!!!!!!!! Do you feel you can start to get excited hun? Xxx

hoola23 · 09/12/2021 19:25

@newtolineofduty not really, I'm trying to just ignore it to be honest 🤣 if the scan goes ok then I'll relax a little I think. Also considering doing the harmony test at 10 weeks. Super expensive but I need the reassurance!

OP posts:
newtolineofduty · 09/12/2021 19:27

We did that @hoola23! Much more accurate than the nhs x ours came back a 1 in a 5 billion chance of downs!!! X

hoola23 · 09/12/2021 19:50

@newtolineofduty did you? With this pregnancy you mean? There's nothing in my family history but I just need to know with as much certainty that the baby would be ok otherwise I will stress throughout, I know what I'm like! Plus my DH is desperate to find out the gender so he can prepare himself for another girl 🤣 and with that test you get to find out. I'm really not fussed but he is dying for boy. Guarantee we've got a girl 🤣🤣

@hoola23 @newtolineofduty what's the harmony test? I've never heard of that before! I'm considering doing an early scan too just for peace of mind, but at 7 weeks it'll be 24th December so might not bother as I know the clinic has odd opening hours before Christmas m. Xx

hoola23 · 09/12/2021 20:21

@CShandy01 it's a test at 10 weeks that tests for trisomy issues so any genetic issues like downs, Edward's syndrome, CF and like 300 others! You can also find out the gender. It's non invasive too so just a simple blood test. It's not essential and around £400-500 depending where you go!

CShandy01 · 09/12/2021 20:23

@hoola23 oh wow I have NEVER heard of this before! Clearly I was just completely ignorant of anything going on when I was pregnant with DD 😂😂😂😂 I'll have a look into it 🙂🙂 xx

CShandy01 · 09/12/2021 20:24

In a random note, I think I'm addicted to the Co-Op's nosecco.....I've nearly had a whole bottle and it'll be only 250 calories 😂😂

newtolineofduty · 09/12/2021 20:33

@CShandy01 your midwife will mention it at your 8 week appt. It's called non invasive prenatal testing and tests for the three additional chromosomal conditions including downs. It's 99% accurate as opposed to the nhs screening which is only 85%. We paid £350 and got a scan with it too x

Aims1991 · 09/12/2021 20:42

@hoola23 I booked an early scan for the 18th. I will 6 weeks 3 days. Hoping it's not too early and a waste of money but it was all I could get before Christmas.

hoola23 · 09/12/2021 21:29

@newtolineofduty £350?! All the clinics I've found were £450 min! Will have to keep hunting! 🤣

@hoola23 thank you, me too. Today I have no cramps or bloating and im instantly panicking 😳

newtolineofduty · 10/12/2021 14:48

@Aims1991 don't worry symptoms come and go that's all normal hun x

@hoola23 were up north so might be why it's slightly cheaper xx

CShandy01 · 11/12/2021 10:10

Morning all! How are we all doing?

Just asking a question about temping. My friend is trying for a child and is finding the OPK's a bit mental because is currently on day 7 of flashing smiley, so she was asking if I've tried taking my temperature. I've told her I've never done it, mainly because I've never had the time, patience etc etc.

So has anyone tried it and found it useful? What are the cons? And actually how does it work? 😂😂😂 I'm so useless xx

hoola23 · 11/12/2021 10:24

@CShandy01 hey hun. I did it one month about a year ago but I still was no better informed 🤣 you have to take it at the same time every morning before you even move out of bed as it's very sensitive. Once you've ovulated your temp will rise so it doesn't predict ovulation it just confirms it's happened once you get a temp rise. It does drop the day before you ovulate but you can have a temp drop for other reasons too so I couldn't get on board with it! Also, the flashy smileys, my last 3 months I never even got any flashy ones. Just went straight to peak and still conceived. I really do think the best advice to give anyone is start on cd6 and DTD every other day until your cm dries up x

Aims1991 · 11/12/2021 13:32

@CShandy01 I tried it for 2 months and I didn't like it. I didn't think it made it any easier or sense to me

CShandy01 · 11/12/2021 14:21

Thanks everyone 🙂🙂 I'll pass it all on to her. Think she's just open to trying anything right now! Xx

hoola23 · 11/12/2021 14:38

@CShandy01 there's so much info on the web about it and loads swear by it! I just don't think I'm organised enough 🤣

OP posts:
CShandy01 · 11/12/2021 15:08

@hoola23 yeah see this is why I wasn't the best person talking to her about it, because the Idea of taking my temp everyday at the same time was just like a big no. I couldn't be arsed with it 😂 I struggled enough peeing on an OPK and working that stuff out, let alone figuring out if my temp was increasing or if I was just having a hot flush because the heating came on! 😂

How are you feeling anyway chick? Xx

Aims1991 · 11/12/2021 16:00

So my OH has told me that he won't have sex until after baby is born! Said he thinks it's weird! Anyone else think this is normal?

hoola23 · 11/12/2021 17:22

@CShandy01 I'm exactly the same! 🤣🤣

Feeling ok really, I need a nap in the afternoons now and I feel queasy first thing in the morning and also wake up starving whereas I normally have my first meal at like 11-12. Officially 5 weeks today so that was my first goal!

It's kind of hitting me that this one might stay and now I'm actually petrified! So many things running through my head and I'm getting anxious! How are you doing? X

OP posts:
hoola23 · 11/12/2021 17:24

@Aims1991 to be fair, I find it a bit odd but maybe that's because I've not done it yet. It's perfectly safe but I get where he's coming from! I guess just do what feels right for both of you. I would totally welcome the 8 months break actually 🤣
