Hi all!

We were getting to the end of the previous thread, so thought it’s best to start a new one.

A quick catch up I think mainly everyone on the old thread is as 12 months + TTC.

Newbies are always welcome.

Just sharing our journeys, supporting each other when possible, and having somewhere to moan and let it all out

Sorry for the radio silence ladies, life has been mental these last few Months and I've been trying not to dwell on the shittiness of AF every month. Or murder folk who ask why we've not had number 2 yet...... 🀬
That's us officially reached the 12months of trying again πŸ˜’ properly trying, timing, testing, vitamins, and so far nothing, zilch, nadda. Trying not to get disappointed, but there are babies everywhere and broodiness with emptiness is the worst. My cousins have just had their IVF baby early due to Pre-Eclampsia and spent Christmas in SCBU. Another friend delivered twins very early, and tragically lost one of their beautiful newborns. I'm so sad for them. It just makes me realise how fragile the whole pregnancy process is. Barrenness is awful, but my heart utterly breaks for them just now.
Anyway, enough of the moaning, surely 2022 will be our year ladies 🀞🀞🀞🀞🀞

AZ1992X · 04/01/2022 08:03

Morning ladies!

How’s everyone doing?, I’m back to work today after 17 days off and defo not feeling it today haha.

@xoJellyBean So glad to hear you’ve talked it out. Hope you’ve had a lovely Christmas/New year.

@Fra1991 Sounds like a busy Christmas, hope you’ve had a good time? , Christmas has been great thanks - very busy too!

I use OPKs but only once a day around my peak week. I use premom but previously used clearblue and just wasn’t getting on with them at all so stopped plus they was mega expensive too.

X

Fra1991 · 04/01/2022 09:45

Hi ladies! Happy new year! Fingers crossed for the best year yet!
@LA9610 yeh I was using clear blue - I had even switched to the one with the app as if that may help somewhat but of course it hasn’t and I almost feel annoyed that they charge so much because they know some people will pay it through sheer desperation. Same with the early tests - but my sister advised me Morrisons own pink ones are the best. I think I will stop with the tests I don’t think they are working for me!
Xmas was lovely thanks. Can’t believe it’s back to work time almost! I’m on my tww too but I tend to spot a week af before so just waiting nervously as that’ll probably happen in the next couple of days.
@Teachermummy83 wow that’s crazy and so sad for your friends. I can’t imagine getting to that stage and that happening.
I know what you mean re people asking - we finally got married in august after a year and a half delay due to covid - we were trying prior to the wedding but most people wouldn’t have known but now we are married we get the questions. I now basically hint with my answers or just tell the truth depending on who’s asking.
@AZ1992X yeh it was lovely and I’m already excited for next year! What about you? I’m back Thursday. Not sure how I’ll cope given I’ve been eating constantly and napping daily!!

HopefulGlow · 05/01/2022 18:58

Hi all!

Sorry for being quiet, apparently I don’t get notifications anymore so that’s weird. I just thought everyone was having a quiet Christmas haha

Sorry that AF came too @AZ1992X - same
Happened to me, later than usual so I got a excited and did a test πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ But luckily I had moving to distract me! Did you have a nice Christmas? How is being back at work?

Welcome @Fra1991 sorry for the delayed hello! How are you? Sorry you’re in this journey too.

@LA9610 hi! Have you been okay? Feels like a while since I’ve seen your name! Hope you had a good Christmas too?

@Amy259 just checking in on you and bump! Hope you’re all doing okay.

@AZ1992X @HopefulGlow sorry about your AFs - lates ones are the cruelest. I got spotting today so cried in my bed for a bit and now working out when my next due date is (I’m such a planner think it gets me through!)And nice to meet you hopefulglow! Hope everyone is having a good week!

HopefulGlow · 05/01/2022 19:39

@Fra1991 I thought I was doing okay but today got me down and I have no clue why?! Some days are just like that I suppose!!

Do you have a look at what month you would be due if you get a BFP next cycle then? Also are you a tester or do you wait? Sorry about the spotting too πŸ’•βœ¨πŸ’•

OP posts:
Fra1991 · 05/01/2022 23:52

@HopefulGlow aw I’m so sorry you are having a down day - with ttc in particular or just generally down? January is pretty bad for that - I guess there is the high of xmas then it’s just dark and rubbish. I find with ttc I’m ok then I’m really down the week before af then I’m ok but if I really think about the situation I get really down.
When we were first ttc I literally used to do the tests as soon as those early ones could tell you then gradually I did less and less - I used to get in my head that the spotting might be implantation bleeding but I know now that I also get acne - so I can tell I’ve a bfn before a test reliably could! What about you? What do you do about drinking alcohol?

Yeh before af arrives I just do 40 weeks from my estimated af date but then after it comes I do it on the nhs website. Do you use an app for tracking?
Have you got any nice plans for things coming up? Hopefully your day is better tomorrow x

AZ1992X · 06/01/2022 08:15

@Fra1991 Glad to hear, it was very good thank you. Same as you - really looking forward to this year and hoping it will be a great one with plenty of memories 🀞

Hope your first day back today isn’t too bad and sorry to hear you’ve started spotting too!

@HopefulGlow It’s horrible when it’s late ain’t it as you just get your hopes up just to get shot back down again. How did the moving go! Are you all settled in now?

Christmas was really nice thank you, had loads of plans and ate lots of nice food. Was ready to go back to eating better this week and getting back on track. Works not been too bad actually, gone quick so far so hoping Friday hurry’s up so it’s the weekend again haha. How was your Christmas?

Also sorry to hear you’re feeling down, Im hoping you’re feeling a little better today. I agree that January is always a bit of a rubbish month for making you feel a little down.

LA9610 · 06/01/2022 15:24

Hi @HopefulGlow, yes i've been okay thank you, i'm the same if i've not recently posted a message then I don't get notifications anymore so then forget to check and see what's going on! Just haven't really had much to say in all honesty, not much has been happening - no tests or anything, just the same old cycle of trying, waiting, failing and then trying again!

How have you been? Sorry to hear that you've been feeling down, I had a couple of down days too, not about TTC. Just from being around so many people over the holidays to suddenly just being back to WFH and in the house alone all day. Agree with @AZ1992X January can be such a rubbish month. Glad to hear your move went well and has been a good distraction for you.

I can remember feeling quite upset at Christmas last year as we were quite new to the TTC game and naively had our hopes up every month but I think i'm more convinced nowadays that it won't happen, than it will so didn't think about it too much over Christmas. In-fact my husband and I haven't even really talked about it for the past couple of months.

What stage of the cycle is everyone at just now?

@Fra1991 sorry to hear about the spotting, when is AF due? I literally never spot actual pink/red blood before AF so if I got that i'd definitely have my hopes up. Can imagine it playing tricks on you.

xoJellyBean · 06/01/2022 19:09

Apparently nobody is getting notifications anymore 🀣 ooooops

@HopefulGlow how was your house move? Are you settling in ok?😍

HopefulGlow · 06/01/2022 19:33

@Fra1991 thank you, I’m feeling Khan better today. I was feeling low about TTC but it just came from nowhere. It was very odd and I took me a while to bring myself out of it.

But I have contacted a local NHS counselling service to speak with someone about how I feel. So that’s made me feel a bit better. I just don’t want to feel bitter anymore. My OH is also going through this with me and it’s not his fault he had no issues conceiving his first 2, but I take that as I’m the problem. Even though he doesn’t think that at all.

I was the same. The first few months I tested and took videos, so I could capture that moment…then as time went on the BFN were harder to see than my AF. So I stopped.

I don’t really drink much anymore, maybe a could on the weekend but not in my TWW. Over Christmas I went for it though haha I was actually tipsy one day and I’ve not been like that in ages haha

I use flow for tracking generally then Femometer for my LH tests. what about you?

@AZ1992X the moving was a nightmare haha the movers van got stolen so they had to cancel and the replacement the company sent said it wouldn’t all fit and tried to con us out of x4 the amount! Haha so we ended up hiring a van and moving it ourselves…NEVER AGAIN! πŸ˜‚ we only have the old house to clean up the last bits and then we are done. Can’t wait!!

Your Christmas sounds lovely! I always end up feeling ready for normal food and drink after binging on the good stuff over Christmas haha did you get anything nice?

@LA9610 as long as you’re okay! You know you can take breaks and check in, we are always here 😁 it sounds like you and your hubby are both taking a little step back from
The active conversations about it. Have you found that’s helped? Are you happy with that too?

Maybe you’re onto something there! Yesterday was my first day WFH alone, maybe it just got to me? I’m sorry you felt like that too, are you feeling better now?

I am now 3 DPO- where are you?

Hi there @xoJellyBean 😁 how are you?

The move was a nightmare, we ached for days after BUT the new house is looking so good and it feels so nice to have our own little space! The old house was his and I moved in with him before, so this feels more like it’s ours πŸ₯°

Did you have a nice Christmas?

@HopefulGlow I've been dreaming of doing up a nursery since we moved in here 🀣🀞🏻 that's great.

Ahh yes my hubby was a little annoying because he couldn't understand why I was upset but we are all okay now! Thankful for mumsnet πŸ₯°

Glad to hear you had a nice Christmas. I was off for nearly two weeks, amazing! Hard to get back in to it now 😀 how's your Friday going? My OPKs are still negative at CD22 lol

@Tinkerbell098 hey, how are you doing? ☺️

HopefulGlow · 08/01/2022 08:44

@Tinkerbell098 hi! Welcome back :) how was your Christmas? Did you have a nice break?

@xoJellyBean Augh that would be a dream wouldn’t it πŸ₯° I have a whole Pinterest section on nursery’s too, I still save to it just in case. But I wouldn’t want to know the sex so I would have to pick neutral colours πŸ˜…

Glad you and your hubby have sorted it out, it’s hard when you’re not on the same level isn’t it!

I was so thankful it was Friday yesterday!! The first week back after a break is so hard and it was only 4 days haha

AZ1992X · 09/01/2022 09:35

Morning ladies!

Hope everyone’s having a nice weekend. Ended up going for an Indian last night fairly last minute which was nice but ready for a chilled evening tonight.

@LA9610 I think I’m around 1/2 DPO so I’m the 2ww. Where abouts are you in this cycle?

I agree about Christmas - I use that as a pinpoint and think by next Christmas I’ll have a baby or be pregnant and nothing. I’ll still say the same about next Christmas though - trying to be positive 🀞

@HopefulGlow I’m glad you feel a little bit better asking for some support - did they say how long it would take to access the counselling?

Oh no! It’s sounds like you’ve had a nightmare moving. At least it’s done now and you can look ahead to enjoying your new home and making some good memories. ❀️

Yes, agree I was defo ready to get back to being a bit healthier, did a workout yesterday too just to try and make myself feel a little better. Although we got asked if we wanted to go for an Indian so feel it went out the window!

Christmas was the usual stuff chocolate, beauty and skincare, pjs, perfume, etc … did you get anything nice?

RE this year me & OH have said we really want to try and make it a good year with some things to look forward too. We’ve committed to at least one date night or day every month something like a meal out or cinema or a day trip then we’re hoping to go to Italy in April and maybe go abroad for my 30th later this year ☺️ Do you have any nice plans?

@xoJellyBean I’m glad you had a nice Christmas but sorry to hear about all the announcements especially around Christmas - I think that’s really hard. I know it’s hard but try and stay positive I’m sure our time will come ❀️

@Tinkerbell098 welcome back! Hope you’re doing ok and had a nice Christmas/ New year

X.

AZ1992X · 09/01/2022 09:36

P.s sorry for the very very long messsge! πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚

HopefulGlow · 09/01/2022 10:22

@AZ1992X I have an assessment at the end of the month, so I’m quite impressed with how quick it is. My OH is so supportive and helpful and I feel so bad feeling so negative and sometimes bitter about him already have DC. And I really don’t want that mindset, it’s not helpful and it’s not his fault. He said before of course he doesn’t wish he didn’t have them, but he does wish it could have been us instead. So I know it’s hard for him too.

Yes I’m very grateful the moving is over & on the plus side we saved money by doing it ourself haha I’ve just been spending my days off unpacking and it’s been therapeutic.

Haha that is annoying BUT I think it’s good you exercised because that cancels out the Indian! Which means all the delicious food was 0 calories/fat haha that’s how I see it. I’m going to do some yoga today I think, I’ve been super lazy recently. Might even try and do some Zumba this week too πŸ™‚

That sounds lovely! I of course got chocolate too which I’ve almost run out of πŸ˜‚ and everyone chipped in to get me a little sewing machine as mine broke a few months ago. So I’m happy I can attempt to sew again haha

Your year sounds lovely and I might have to steal that goal! I’ve never been to Italy but it sounds and looks so beautiful. Ooooo a big birthday too! Where will you go? 😍

We are going away to Leeds at the end of the month just for the weekend, but I’m so excited. It feels like we’ve not had a date in forever.

My SIL announced she’s having a baby boy on Friday πŸ₯°πŸ’™ then yesterday I was cleaning my kitchen and my new neighbor had a gender reveal in the garden…I only knew as pink confetti and smoke suddenly covered my whole garden πŸ˜… I was like geeze two days in a row?!…I’m happy for you these people but please give me a break πŸ™ˆ BUT I didn’t cry, so that’s always a bonus. πŸ˜…

What’s everyone’s plans today? Im definitely having a lazy one as yesterday I was cleaning and unpacking loads.

Also, sorry again for a long message πŸ˜‚

Hey all, hoping I can join.

We’ve been trying for 2.5 years, DH has had SA and everything is good. Ive had bloods taken, but they’ve found out I have high prolactin.

Doctor hasn’t got a clue what to do about that, so has written to hormone specialists for further advice. That was in December (I had to have repeat bloods to check). Not heard anything yet, temped to ring them next week as my doctor has been known to say he’ll do something and then just doesn’t do it. Also had referral to fertility doctors at same time but haven’t heard anything from that, but I’m not 100% sure it’s been done!

Currently on CD 7 of cycle 34 (I think). I think I’ve just resigned myself to this not working until we get proper help from fertility clinic to be honest. This whole process is just taking a lifetime.

Fra1991 · 09/01/2022 12:41

Hi girls! Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

@HopefulGlow I’m glad you are getting someone to talk to - I know what you mean about the bitterness - I get it too because my OH and I have been together 10 years and I have waited for him to be ready for kids but now I think maybe if we had started 5 years ago this wouldn’t be such a problem but then I think will his SA showed no issues so it must be me anyway. @xoJellyBean I am the same re nursery - we even put up shelves in the room I want to use a couple of years ago and I made sure that they would be higher than the baby wardrobes I want to get πŸ™ˆ . All the baby announcements are hard - I deleted my social media to avoid them now.

@LA9610 af due Wednesday which it would just come this is the worst week and it feels like I have AF for 2 weeks out of 4 so just feels like all the time! Where are you in the cycle?

@Lauralozzle welcome! This group has helped me - it’s good company and also reassuring to know others have the same feelings as you. Sorry you haven’t conceived yet, what does prolactin do? Definitely try again - my sisters work in hospitals and told me you just have to kick up a fuss to get anywhere. I’m not very good at doing it tho.

I contacted a fertility clinic on Friday and they said to send on my medical history so I phoned my doctors and they said it would be 4-6 weeks! Seems bizarre for something that seems like it’s just a case of lifting from the computer!

We are going away in February for a weekend so looking forward to that and also lots of weddings! What about everyone’s else’s plans for the year?

LA9610 · 09/01/2022 13:22

Hey everyone!

This is my second time writing this as the first time I got distracted midway and then lost it πŸ™ˆ

@Lauralozzle welcome! 2.5 years is such a long time πŸ˜”, you must have the patience of a Saint to have waited this long to get the referral to subfertility clinic! Hope you hear something soon.

Think a few people have asked now so won't reply to specific person but I'm 11DPO atm. I know I'm going to get my period though. I literally feel it coming when I get to this stage, every month the symptoms are like clockwork. AF is due on Wed (snap @Fra1991 !) But I reckon I will probably get it on Tues πŸ˜” just feel so hopeless and tearful just now.

Had a really rough night last night, DH is away and I was reading Normal People (seen the programme so I already know the story) but my god it just gets to me because I find the story really relatable in ways and I was crying because of that but also just the realisation and hopelessness that comes when I know it hasn't worked again πŸ˜”

Sounds like everyone has nice plans for the year 😊 I'm similar, just want to make the most of the time that we haven't conceived but obviously Covid is not helping that plan πŸ˜’ were meant to be going Italy in April but it was just cancelled so I've rebooked for end of May 🀞 hopefully get a wee city break in before then or a weekend away or something!

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend? I've done F All except read πŸ˜‚ going to force myself to do a workout in a mo x

HopefulGlow · 09/01/2022 16:49

Welcome @Lauralozzle πŸ’• so sorry you’re in this position too, 2.5 years is such a long time but I’m glad you’re getting some help now.

I have no clue about Prolactin either, can you educate us? πŸ™‚ it’s crazy how many things can be β€œwrong” to affect fertility. I watched a Ted talk about a lady who struggled with infertility and she hit the nail on the head…”in school and tv you’re taught as soon as you get within 10cm of sperm or a penis you will get pregnant….clearly that’s not the case”

And it made me laugh, because it’s so damn true! A lot of us spend years avoiding pregnancy at the wrong time and as soon as we try for a baby, it seems impossible! πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

I would deffo chase your doctor, sometimes they can be slow and need a little nudge.

It is such a long process! I’ve had all my tests (which are fine?) but we are waiting for my OH to have his SA…even though he’s had 2 DC before, so I know it’s not him. 😫 hopefully you hear back from fertility soon.

@Fra1991 it’s so difficult isn’t it?! You don’t want to feel like that and you know it’s not fair, but you can’t help it.

Good idea on deleting socials, that seems to be what a lot of people do to cope.

I was thinking today, hopefully one day when we make our own baby announcement, how can you do it with a subtle nod to others in our position now? No one knows about our struggles but I would like to maybe put something about TTC in the announcement without it being obvious? And also say if anyone needs to mute/unfollow me because of it, I understand! Does that make sense?

Everyone seems to be going away, that’s definitely a good idea to have some positive and romantic times too πŸ₯°

@LA9610 I do that all the time too haha or press the wrong button and click off the page πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

What’s normal people? I’ve not seen it. So sorry you’re feeling so low, it must be so hard with DH away too. Sending lots of hugs πŸ’•

Augh that’s so annoying! Damn covid ruining all our trips!! Fingers crossed for May though 🀞🏼

Ive got my booster on Weds and I hope I’m ok after, I never had issues with my previous jabs.

I’ve done a bit of sewing today! It worked out okay πŸ˜‚ I made a little skirt out of an old shirt for my OH DD and then put my punch needle thingy on a cushion for a late secret Santa gift πŸ˜‚ they deffo look handmade but πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Not ready for Monday though πŸ˜βœ¨πŸ’•βœ¨

@Fra1991 @LA9610 @HopefulGlow thank you all! need to be in some good company!

I've made the mistake looking down the google hole re prolactin. Problem is, I asked my doctor if it can affect fertility and he said he'd ask the hormone specialists. From what I under stand, my prolactin levels are double what they should be, it can be caused by a benign tumour in your pituitary gland in your brain, but the doctor did say if that was the case, he would expect my levels to be much much higher. Google says that it can cause infertility, mainly by basically stopping you ovulate - screws up LH I think. This is where it gets a bit strange for me, every month I get EWCM, always get a peak OPK etc, regular periods every 26-29 days. Doctors did not say there was anything wrong with day 21 bloods so it looks like I'm ovulating.

With them first set of bloods my thyroid was borderline too, so had repeat bloods for that, my thyroid was fine second time around. Under active thyroid can also cause elevated prolactin levels. As can PCOS.

I've also read that elevated prolactin can cause luteal phase issues in people with fairly regular periods. My luteal phase is about 11-12 days, not massively low, but not 14 either. Could also cause insufficient progesterone and implantation issues from what I've read. But a lot of that is read down a google hole of gloom and how much is true I don't know. I suppose it's enough of an enigma for doctor to basically say I don't know, which isn't particularly reassuring.

It definitely seems to be an issue though.

I originally went to the doctors at 1 year mark, basically said come back in a year. Went back at 2 year mark, which is when the bloods started. Had a little issue in August as they had my height down wrong so my bmi was over 30 - basically told to lose some weight. When I went in December they measured me and weighed me and it came to I was down as like 7cm shorter than I am, so bmi has actually been below 30 the whole time!

I'm on the verge on wanting to go private, but DH is adamant that we can't afford it right now (he's right, really). So I'm banking on doctors doing their jobs properly at the moment.

@Fra1991 4-6 weeks seems like a long time! Hopefully it gets done before then. Going away for a weekend in Feb sounds lovely.

I don't have many plans this year really at the moment. A couple of birthdays coming up, but no holiday or anything planned yet.

@LA9610 I hope you're feeling a bit better. I know how hard it is when you know your period is around the corner and will show up like clockwork. It's crushing. Hopefully you can look forward to your trip to Italy (might be a tiny bit jealous, me and DH went to Sorrento for our honeymoon). Loved it.

@HopefulGlow definitely, at school basically told get near a penis and you'll end up pregnant. Not bloody likely.

I had my booster in December, delayed ovulation by a couple days but apart from that, I was fine, bit tired day after. Just felt like someone had punched me in the arm really hard for about 3 days.

You're knitting looks good. I can't even sew a button on properly!!! I manage it, but it looks horrendous when I've finished!

Is anyone ready for Monday πŸ™ƒ I started a new job in December and I've got nothing to do! It's really hard trying to fill in my time, it drags massively, training should start properly this month at some point but at the moment it's so slow! at least I'm way less stressed than I was before! Thats got to be worth something.
