@Fra1991 @LA9610 @HopefulGlow thank you all! need to be in some good company!
I've made the mistake looking down the google hole re prolactin. Problem is, I asked my doctor if it can affect fertility and he said he'd ask the hormone specialists. From what I under stand, my prolactin levels are double what they should be, it can be caused by a benign tumour in your pituitary gland in your brain, but the doctor did say if that was the case, he would expect my levels to be much much higher. Google says that it can cause infertility, mainly by basically stopping you ovulate - screws up LH I think. This is where it gets a bit strange for me, every month I get EWCM, always get a peak OPK etc, regular periods every 26-29 days. Doctors did not say there was anything wrong with day 21 bloods so it looks like I'm ovulating.
With them first set of bloods my thyroid was borderline too, so had repeat bloods for that, my thyroid was fine second time around. Under active thyroid can also cause elevated prolactin levels. As can PCOS.
I've also read that elevated prolactin can cause luteal phase issues in people with fairly regular periods. My luteal phase is about 11-12 days, not massively low, but not 14 either. Could also cause insufficient progesterone and implantation issues from what I've read. But a lot of that is read down a google hole of gloom and how much is true I don't know. I suppose it's enough of an enigma for doctor to basically say I don't know, which isn't particularly reassuring.
It definitely seems to be an issue though.
I originally went to the doctors at 1 year mark, basically said come back in a year. Went back at 2 year mark, which is when the bloods started. Had a little issue in August as they had my height down wrong so my bmi was over 30 - basically told to lose some weight. When I went in December they measured me and weighed me and it came to I was down as like 7cm shorter than I am, so bmi has actually been below 30 the whole time!
I'm on the verge on wanting to go private, but DH is adamant that we can't afford it right now (he's right, really). So I'm banking on doctors doing their jobs properly at the moment.
@Fra1991 4-6 weeks seems like a long time! Hopefully it gets done before then. Going away for a weekend in Feb sounds lovely.
I don't have many plans this year really at the moment. A couple of birthdays coming up, but no holiday or anything planned yet.
@LA9610 I hope you're feeling a bit better. I know how hard it is when you know your period is around the corner and will show up like clockwork. It's crushing. Hopefully you can look forward to your trip to Italy (might be a tiny bit jealous, me and DH went to Sorrento for our honeymoon). Loved it.
@HopefulGlow definitely, at school basically told get near a penis and you'll end up pregnant. Not bloody likely.
I had my booster in December, delayed ovulation by a couple days but apart from that, I was fine, bit tired day after. Just felt like someone had punched me in the arm really hard for about 3 days.
You're knitting looks good. I can't even sew a button on properly!!! I manage it, but it looks horrendous when I've finished!
Is anyone ready for Monday π I started a new job in December and I've got nothing to do! It's really hard trying to fill in my time, it drags massively, training should start properly this month at some point but at the moment it's so slow! at least I'm way less stressed than I was before! Thats got to be worth something.
