Not started a new thread before so I’ve just gone back through thread 19 and tried to tag everyone whose posted. Apologies if I’ve ended up tagging anyone though that no longer wants to follow the thread. I’m sure there’s been quite a few bfps. Here’s hoping for many more on here too🤞

Hi Ladies, I'm so sorry to hear about the losses you have experienced ❤.

Was wondering if I might be able to join, I'm 32, TTC #1, am currently going through an early loss at 5.5 weeks in our first cycle of TTC. It's a difficult time but I'm keen to start TTC in this next cycle xx

emmatake2 · 21/10/2021 16:01

Hi all, I'm new here too. I'm 32, TTC #2 after miscarriage at end of Aug. Suspected molar pregnancy but thankfully tests came back negative. Bit apprehensive about trying again.

PossiblyPertunia · 21/10/2021 20:09

I'd also like to join! 31 and ttc number 2! My little boy is 14 months. I've had 3 consecutive miscarriages (2 chemicals and 1 mmc which I had an MVA for on 27th August).
I've got a scan on Saturday which was scheduled by the recurrent miscarriage team but I'm pretty certain I'm pregnant again. Although going by the symptoms I think it's going to be another miscarriage as exactly the same as them and not like my successful pregnancy. Will test tomorrow either way and then just wait and see what happens I guess.
It's funny how miscarriages completely ruin getting a positive test after. For me I don't get at all excited, but just worry and stress.

elsimo · 22/10/2021 06:43

Hey to all you new guys :)
It’s sad that you find yourself but maybe you guys will get some comfort from ths fact that the names do change as other ladies get their bfp’s. Please support each other - this forum got me thru some pretty dark days.
I’m 22 weeks pregnant after TTC for 2 years. 18 moths of trying then fell pregnant with twins to find a MMC at 8 weeks which ended finally at 11 weeks with surgical managment. This totally screwed up my emotions, hormones and my cycle and I had all but given up but fell pregnant again 7 months later. I also had a MC before my DD in 2016.
Be kind to yourselves - I can honestly say TTC and the MC has been one of the hardest experinces of my life. I defo carry some trauma from it all which unfortunatley doesn’t disappear with a bfp/new baby. I still think about my miscarriages daily however I hope my story gives u some hope.
@bez91 how are u doing? Xx

bez91 · 22/10/2021 07:38

Thanks for the tag @OneDay86 I like to follow how others are getting on, especially names I recognise. I was on the thread with @elsimo for some time. Backstory, we were trying for #2 for 18 months and had 3 miscarriages in that time at various gestation inc a MMC. Echo what she says, MC takes its toll and the anxiety doesn't wane when you get a BFP and things look to be going ok but keep the hope, hope is strong and all you need is a little.

@elsimo I'm good, 10+6 today and have my 12 week scan a week today. The anxiety before scans doesn't get better as time goes on. I've had 3 already under EPU and everything looked good so trying to remain positive. Can't believe you're 22 weeks already. That's gone so so fast!

elsimo · 22/10/2021 11:04

@bez91 I know! I keep thinking after every scan I will feel less anxious but nope. 20 weeks was a biggy for me - but he is looking like a healthy little boy and defo moving more.
Good luck next week xx

hewegoagain · 22/10/2021 11:45

Morning all. Hope everyone's doing ok this morning. Just got back from seeing my GP and got an appointment to see a haemotolgist to get my bloods properly checked, not sure if it'll show anything but can't hurt to have a look.

Was feeling slightly better yesterday, but like others have said it's a traumatic experience and anxiety is high. I had to cancel my own midwife appointment this morning while at the doctors surgery and the receptionist just kept asking "but why do you want to cancel?" And refused to cancel until I gave a reason. Ended up in tears saying "well I'm not pregnant anymore so why would I want to see the bloody midwife". Had a good cry in the car on the way home. Does make me wonder thought why these people don't seem to have any compassion or common sense. A women trying to cancel a midwife appointment is not going to be good news, so just shut up and do it 😔

I also got the results from the ordinary blood tests I had a few weeks ago. Everything normal but TSH (thyroid) at 2.15 which is getting up towards the upper limit they recommend during the first trimester (2.5), and blood sugar toward the upper limit as well. Not sure if this could be causing problems but the doctor didn't seem at all worried.

Just feeling drained and headachy today after dealing with everything this morning 😔

USaYwHatNow · 22/10/2021 17:03

@hewegoagain that's so crappy re: cancelling your appointment. You'd think there'd be some common sense there. I am a Midwife, and my my colleague and best friend was meant to complete my booking for me next week. Having to phone her to cancel was one of the most heartbreaking things we've had to do together. That was in private, so I can only imagine how shitty that must have felt in public 😢

PossiblyPertunia · 22/10/2021 21:23

Oh @hewegoagain @USaYwHatNow both of your cancellations are just totally cruddy. I'm so sorry! After being certain I was pregnant I tested negative this morning... honestly was surprised but it does mean my scan tomorrow will be more accurate as they asked for it to be done when I wasn't pregnant.

hewegoagain · 22/10/2021 21:39

@USaYwHatNow I'm so sorry you had to go through that as well today. Things like that really hit hard 😔

@PossiblyPertunia I'm so sorry for your BFN today. It's hard TTC to conceive again an all those hopes and dreams are pending on a tiny blue or pink line 😔

USaYwHatNow · 23/10/2021 17:02

@hewegoagain it was a bit crap. But I'm staying positive (or trying to anyway!) currently 9dpo and doing the ol' OPK's, cervical checks and monitoring every ovarian twinge. Weirdly I think I'm going to ovulate from the same side that I fell pregnant from last month. Keeping my fingers crossed I fall pregnant again quickly as I don't have many cycles left until my partner goes away for work for the best part of a year 🙄

USaYwHatNow · 23/10/2021 17:06

Also, general question-does anyone else have twinges on the side they think they're going to ovulate on before they actually ovulate? Last month my twinges started on and off from CD9 and I then ovulated CD19. Almost like it starts practicing 😂

Sarah0409 · 23/10/2021 18:50

Hi everyone and thanks @OneDay86 for setting up a new post!

I’m a bit older than a lot of others on this thread (37), I have two kids aged 8 and 10 and have had two miscarriages, most recently I had an mmc in September. AF arrived and I have bought OPKs for the first time, not planning on doing this every month but feeling like I want to know what is going on! I hate the feeling of no control that comes with ttc!

@hewegoagain that sounds awful, complete lack of compassion there.

@bez91 glad things are going well and great to hear your updates! Hope all goes well at your 12 week scan!

MamTee10 · 23/10/2021 21:15

Hi all, thanks for the welcome.

@elsimo thank you for sharing your story. Nice to hear a story of hope, although you've had quite the journey.

I am now 6 weeks post miscarriage, expected my period yesterday but is yet to arrive. I've done two pregnancy tests as we DTD about 4 weeks after the loss, and I had some back pain around the same time and quickly realised this could have been ovulation.. anyway tests are negative so just a case of watching and waiting I suppose 😣

Hope everyone's ok xx

hewegoagain · 24/10/2021 09:36

USaYwHotNow I get ovulation pain but in what I normally take as my ovulation day. It's normally starts the day my Flo app marks as a peak and last about a day or 2. Normally try DTD a lot around this time even though it can be a bit uncomfortable 😬

StillJustWaiting · 24/10/2021 09:54

Hey ladies ☺️ Hoping you can give me some light, new to the thread, so I'm unsure this month when I actually ovulated, CD1 was 30th of September - I had some very light spotting (pink discharge when wiping) on and off for 2 days 12th & 13th of October.
I use the Flo app to track my periods and their predictions for ovulation. Flo says my ovulation day this month was the 19th of October.
My cycles are a bit messy, last month having a 34 Day cycle and the month before having a 37 day cycle.
Do you think I could have ovulated early this month and the spotting I had on CD 13 & 14 could have been an ovulation bleed ?
I'm so confused I don't know wether to count the TWW from the 13th or from the 19th 😫😫
TTC #1, I have had a miscarriage and 2 chemical pregnancies this year and am beginning to lose all hope :( xx

Kelb79 · 24/10/2021 13:07

Hi everyone, sending so much love to you all for your losses ❤️❤️❤️
I’m 42, TTC for 2 1/2 years with our first baby. I didn’t meet my “one” until now hence the late start.
2 years failed TTC, we started to lose hope but eventually started fertility investigations this year (held up thanks to Covid!!)
Got ticks on everything - good sperm count, good egg count, ovulating etc
Was due to go for a laparoscopy as next step at end of august, did a test to rule out pregnancy a few days before and got my BFP! Naturally and conceived on my birthday weekend away - felt like fate, a total miracle!
Had a viability scan at 7 weeks, all was perfect with heartbeat & size! So so happy!
But bled a little a week later and check up scan showed heartbeat had stopped.
Had to wait for a week for a D&C as the miscarriage just didn’t happen.
This was at the end of September and it’s literally been the worst few weeks if my life as you all well understand 💔
We’re desperate to get pregnant again and just waiting for my cycle to restart - OPK tests have finally shown normal “low” levels this week do that’s hopeful I guess.
But I’ve been physically exhausted still so had done blood tests. It came back that I’ve got large blood cells indicating either folate or B12 deficiency…
I have taken supplements for the last 2 years so in my head (I’m waiting for more tests…) this surely points to an absorption issue?? Potential MTHFR gene mutation maybe? (Yes… I’ve been google obsessed 🙈)
Feels a bit like a double edged sword….. maybe they’ve finally found the problem that’s caused both the infertility AND the miscarriage which is amazing moving forward…. BUT…. Why the hell do they not test your folate and B12 levels when TTC or first pregnant???
I’ve read stats that folate deficiency can actually increase miscarriage risk by 50%?! 😳
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this???
I know I’m probably grasping at straws in my desperate headspace 🙈🤷🏼‍♀️

SLCxxx · 28/10/2021 11:56

Hi ladies,
Just checking in on you all 🤗 as I do watch this thread still

Sorry for your losses to all those who have joined this thread since I posted last, ttc following a mc is very lonely and this group is full of love and support!

I had a MC in Jan and after lots of advise, Brainstorming and support from this group I got my BFP in June. It’s amazing how strangers can help you through your darkest times!

Congratulations on the latest BFPs! 🌈 🌈🌈

@bez91 and @elsimo I’m so glad your pregnancies are progressing smoothly! How nerve wracking being pregnant after loss is! When are your due dates??

susiebluebell · 28/10/2021 15:28

@Kelb79 Hi there, thank you for sharing your difficult journey and sorry no one got back to you sooner. Sometimes we are all over this thread and sometimes it goes quiet for a few days.

Really sorry again to read what you've been through recently. It takes me back to my 1st miscarriage last summer. When the pregnancy happens in a particularly 'blessed' or wonderful way, it can feel like a personal F* You from the universe when it ends in miscarriage. I know that feeling and it's normal.

The thing is to let yourself feel all of that, and to remember that the statistics are VASTLY on your side in terms of conceiving and carrying to term after miscarriage. I haven't got the stats to hand, but it's 90-something per cent of women go on to have a healthy pregnancy after 1 miscarriage - and an even bigger percentage of women after 2. So the numbers really are on your side.

I can't speak personally to the deficiencies you mention, but maybe someone else here has experience of them?

Hello to all the other newbies too and sorry I haven't said hi personally. Lots going on here including a house move! Hope everyone is having an OK week xx

PossiblyPertunia · 28/10/2021 20:58

My AF arrived on Monday right on time so my symptoms were all total rubbish!
We were meant to be waiting now until February because of our plans next summer but I think we can squeeze in one more month and then will stop until February time.
@Kelb79 I'm so sorry for your loss. How much folate are you taking? I was advised to take 2000mg a day and I know a lot of people have to take 5000mg. I think most otc folic acid is around 400mg.

elsimo · 29/10/2021 18:45

@SLCxxx
I’m due 25th Feb - we can’t be far apart xx

bez91 · 29/10/2021 19:51

Hi @SLCxxx hope you are good. How many weeks are you now? Had my 12 week scan today, was convinced it would be bad news, had accepted it and had planned out all the practical things like when I'd have a D&C etc but everything was ok to my disbelief. Due date 14th May.

Hope everyone else is doing ok, still following to hopefully see more rainbow babies on this thread 🌈

Kelb79 · 30/10/2021 12:30

@PossiblyPertunia 2000mg??!! Seriously?! My GP and fertility team said 400mg 😳 thats crazy! From the reading I’ve done (gotta love a good google when you’re feeling crap 🤣) the medical profession are missing an awful lot if fertility/pregnancy issues due to folate or b12 deficiencies! Defo get tested everyone - if you haven’t already! My test is on Thursday this week, hoping for some answers 🙏🏼

@hewegoagain your cancellation story is awful 😞 I’m so sorry you had to go through that on top of everything else ❤️ I had been waiting for ages to get my midwife appointment with nothing, had the MC at 8 1/2 weeks and then the midwife called me to make my appointment at 10 weeks 😭 it totally broke me!!

How is everyone feeling? I think I’ve become numb, I don’t feel like I was ever pregnant, I’ve lost all hope and positivity. That’s so not me, I really need to try to get it back but I just don’t know how!

I tested completely negative on HCG test yesterday, no sign of OV yet (Im 4 1/2 weeks past D&C) - I had crazy high LH for a few days when I started LH testing a couple of weeks ago but im guessing that was probably HCG still?? 🤔🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s nice to not be obsessing in the TWW but I really want to get my cycles back to normal and know where I am 😵‍💫

PossiblyPertunia · 30/10/2021 12:42

@Kelb79 yup my recurrent miscarriage consultant said she recommends anyone who has had more than 1 miscarriage to up their folate to 2000mg and if you BMI is over 30, so up it to 5000mg!
I tested negative 4 and a half weeks after my MVA and then my period arrived 2 days later so I did ovulate at all that first cycle. I've gone straight back to a 28 days cycle though after that which I guess is good. I'm CD6 today and will start using OPKs from about CD11 I think!

susiebluebell · 30/10/2021 14:08

@bez91

Hi *@SLCxxx* hope you are good. How many weeks are you now? Had my 12 week scan today, was convinced it would be bad news, had accepted it and had planned out all the practical things like when I'd have a D&C etc but everything was ok to my disbelief. Due date 14th May.

Ah bez that is wonderful! Do I detect that you're not really letting yourself get excited yet?

12 weeks is a wonderful and significant milestone. "Whatever happens, today I am pregnant." Big hugs!
