Just popping in to say hello. I can't believe I'm on cd 8 already, or on cycle 3 for that matter

Hopefully I'm afraid I'm no expert. Someone on here (DG maybe? Sorry I can't remember) recommended a site called fertility friend. First result if you google it. It has an online book that tells you everything there is to know about CM, EW or otherwise!

Good luck to all you festive testers!

mibbes · 19/12/2007 13:17

hopefully I can understand your rant about the difficulty involved in concpetion given all that has to happen, but then there are people who fall pregnant accidentally, so don't get too frustrated yet - you're on your first cycle afterall ! Who is to say you won't be a first timer, esp considering your youth .

I have started reading the "Take control of your fertility" (thanks for the recommendation dg) and it does indeed seem like the whole process is very involved... Am amused that the author practically turns knicker-watching into a sport ! Am loving the book and strongly recommend to any other newbies to ttc

mibbes · 19/12/2007 13:20

hopefully - oops sorry forgot to answer your query - from the book I have gathered that anything less than a 12 day luteal phase may be too short, between 12-16 is the norm.

hopefully · 19/12/2007 13:48

I know I am being completely unreasonable getting frustrated before even seeing if it happens quickly, but I'm a bit weird (work in finance, boring logical mind), and it seems that if it were left to me, I could design a far better system for reproduction! I may have to write a strongly worded eltter of complaint to [insert appropriate deity here].

Faintly irritated by potentially short LP, thanks for the answers. On the other hand, maybe I ov'd earlier in the week, at the beginning of ewcm time, and therefore have perfectly normal 14 day phase. will stop stressing needlessly

kate2179 · 19/12/2007 14:13

Hello ladies, please may I join you?
I had a mmc in october, erpc in november... we weren't really trying before that, but since then it has become just about all I can think about!
So good to know you're all out there!
Have put myself on the list, hope that's ok?

Emmsy Anniemac & Mibbles looks like we're cycle buddies this month! When do you reckon will be prime bd-ing time for us? My cycles were about 34-35 days before mc but the one I've had since was 27 days after bleeding stopped (TMI? Sorry ) So really I have no idea where I am now ! Ah well, let the madness continue...

mibbes · 19/12/2007 14:30

welcome Kate2179 - I am planning to bd between xmas and NY (although overnight guests around that time may be an issue...). I have cycles between 31-35 days so I guess we'd be almost exactly the same. am planning to try opks this month and if am not convinced will be temping as apparently opks don't actually record whether you ovulate - just the LH surge.. can you tell I've been reading my book ! Good to have another cycle buddy

grinningbee · 19/12/2007 14:42

Hi Gang,

Well, after the "incident" yesterday, things have got a whole lot worse. I spent alot of the afternoon in tears.

DH tried again yesterday afternoon, but, erm... lost his "happiness" and nothing I could do worked. He said it was because he glanced over to the bedside table and saw the CBFM which reminded him about ttc.

We talked etc but I don't know what's going on in his head.

This morning he tried again and told me that he had an orgasm (sorry, tmi). However... I am pretty sure he didn't as there wasn't any evidence at all iykwim.

Has anyone else had their dh/dp fake it?? I'm just so disappointed as it is the time of the month when we needed to bd. I haven't put pressure on him but now I think there may be a big problem. This is the first time he's ever had this happen.

Sorry for being down. I don't know what to do now

kate2179 · 19/12/2007 15:14

grinningbee don't really know what to say. I don't really 'know' you so I hope you don't mind me replying, although I think I remember you from the mc thread? So sorry you're going through such a tough time. I think sometimes we don't realise how tough this can be for our DHs, partly because they tend to carry on as normal as if nothing's happened, and they don't talk about it - or mine doesn't anyway. It's not that long since your mc, about the same as mine I think, and maybe that's on your DH's mind? We tend to think men are always 'up for it' (so to speak ) all of the time, but I'm not sure that really that's the case. There have certainly been times when I've been too stressed or worried about things to relax into the moment, and I guess sometimes it's the same for them too. Although you're not putting pressure on him maybe he's putting pressure on himself? IF he did fake it - not saying he did - then it would only have been because he didn't want to worry you...
Am not going to tell you to relax and not worry about it because a) I know that's impossible, and because b) when someone said that to me I nearly strangled them, but do try not to get too sad... Is there anything you could organise for the 2 of you to do together completely different from bd-ing, just to go out and have some fun? And worst case scenario, if you do miss this month, I for one will be right here next month waiting for you! Take care xx

hopefully · 19/12/2007 15:29

Sorry to hear that GB, I guess it's only reasonable that if we all go as mad and get as stressed as we clearly do about ttc, then perhaps your DH does too?

After all, if all else fails we can just lie there during bd and know that we stand a good chance of conceiving, but he actively has to produce something. I think K2179's right in that you probably need to get away and think about somehing else. Or maybe do the opposite and determindly spend the afternoon in bed with no pressure to bd? Something different to the norm, anyway! Perhaps he'll be more ready to talk about it a bit later and you can get a clearer idea where he's at?

digitalgirl · 19/12/2007 16:05

GB i understand how frustrated you must feel right now. time of the month, DH not able to perform, desperately don't want to miss this cycle...but perhaps your DH is still feeling a bit upset about the MC (if this is your first TTC cycle since).

Do you think it's worth talking to him about it and asking whether he feels under pressure to give you another baby quickly?

GryffinGrinch · 19/12/2007 16:18

hello there everyone

Haven't posted on this thread for a while, so thought I'd drop in, so you don't take my name off the list . hello to meglet and spink who are my cycle buddies.

Poor GB - I really recognise that feeling when you want to bd and DH won't "co-operate." You expressed it so well. I found it very hard to get DH to talk about ttc at all and when I finally got an answer out of him about how he felt, I asked him why he'd not said and he said "Well you've been so mad about the subject, I just didn't want to add to that..."

Then I remembered that I can come on MN any time I like and have a good rant, but there's no one he can talk to about it at all. (At least there wasn't then, he's told someone now, which I haven't made a big deal out of, but I wanted to organise a PARADE I was so pleased!)

I hope this doesn't sound too preachy, but I hope that you and your DH get the chance this Christmas to go easier on yourselves. If it doesn't happen for you this month it will not be your fault and none of this is fair. That's my thoughts on the subject.

I SWEAR I only pressed that button once! What's happening to my computer...?

BuckytheRedNosedReindeer · 19/12/2007 19:22

pmsl at Excitable and her FOUR posts....yeah yeah we know you pressed the button over and over again really. Just kidding. MN gets a bit weird sometimes. I swear fMN mixes all the letters up when it knows I have cracked open the wine too.

Kate2179 Is your birthday on the 2nd January?? Welcome, and can I say that was a lovely post to Grinningbee. Really kind. I couldn't have said it any better GB, hope you feel a little better knowing that all your virtual friends are here for you.

Me well, couldn't be any more boring that CD2, except tmi alert....I swear I am hemorraging (sp?) or something. I will have to buy shares in Lillet Extra Super Plus tampons at this rate . Something weird happened this month. Now that I am actually paying attention to what my body does, every month seems to be quite different...weird.

Hope everyone is having a good evening.

Excitable · 19/12/2007 20:12

Honestly, it really was just once It's an outrage!! Okay, well, maybe it was a BIT funny...

I absolutely agree that every month seems to be so different now that I'm noticing what my body does. I'm still trying to notice patterns, but this is a bit unhelpful really, as there are no patterns at all!!

So I just go on believing I'm pregnant every month because at least I'm happy some of the time then. Does that make sense to anyone?
