Thanks nomoremagnolia, might give it a try, could be useful to know whats going on, but doing anything regularly might be a challenge!

Yorky · 28/11/2007 18:36

Congratulations Bigboydidit, thats a first for this thread although a few people are still waiting/hoping. Wonder who'll be next.
I now hope its not me as we're planning a big new year party and being teetotal doesn't fit the plan!! But look out January - here I go!
Any news teuch, LadyofWaffle and MsSparkler?

bohemianbint · 28/11/2007 21:53

Hello - can I jump on here too?

I've got a DS, nearly 16 months and we've just started TTC this week. I'm using Persona (used to use it as contraception, now using it to know when to get on with it!) and no one in Real Life knows what we're up to!

We wanted to wait until January for a number of reasons but we thought we should get cracking in case it takes a while. Plus I've been hideously broody for the last 6 months so I think I've done well to hold off this long!

Bit annoyed I've still got a stone of baby weight to shift from last time, I wanted it gone before getting pregnant again.

Yorky · 28/11/2007 23:23

Bohemianbint, its not the pregnancy weight I'm fighting, DS has obediently bf that off [smug] its the two stone I wanted to lose before I got pg that he's not eating!

fairysnuff · 28/11/2007 23:47

Hi can I join too?
My DD is 14 months and we have been trying for 4.
Pretty sure we have just had a chemical pregnancy so feeling a bit blue. Then feeling bad for that cos at least it wasn't an mc.
I am frightened this time too. What with this being my second chemical one and a close frined losing hers at 8 weeks but carrying until 12 it all seems a bit more scary.

I am going to give that temperature charting a go this month, along side ov tests. I just want to see if they tally No I am not getting obsessed honest
Don't you hate it when they say, you ought to relax about it, then it will happen!?
If I relaxed, me and DH woudln't even try, (we are sooo lazy!!) Then it defo wouldn't blinkin happen.

Theochris · 28/11/2007 23:48

Hi could I join you too please?
My DD is 14 months and we haven't used any contraception since having her. AF only came back at 9 months. My cycle is different from before but I am still BF, though I may stop this to push harder for a pregnancy. I'm charting though I get a bit obsessive! It took us a long time to conceive before (about 2 yrs) so I'm starting early.

Does anyone have any tips for buying cheap Ovulation kits online? Or do they really recommend Persona?

fairysnuff · 28/11/2007 23:58

I just bought mine from ebay, I wasn't too particular which company but the ones I got worked ok. Got my LH surge on a Friday ovulated on the Monday.
I don't actually know what this persona thing is?
2 years Golly, that must have been hard going?

Theochris · 29/11/2007 00:12

Thanks fairysnuff. I just had a look on ebay, I'm definitely gonna buy some there. I spent alot last time on kits My cycle is less regular than it was so I may need more strips this time!

I think persona is like the clearblue monitor, it tracks your cycle, you pee on sticks and put them in the machine. It tells you when you are most fertile. They have always seemed pricey to me but to be honest I never thought it would take so long!

2 years, yeah it was hard, we were just getting round to some interventions. Some months my DH had a somewhat lack lusture approach to the idea of doing it again! I guess we are sub fertile but I'd like to get it a good shot (so to speak!) before going to the doctor/deciding to stop actively trying.

Good luck to everyone

Theochris · 29/11/2007 00:25

Hi, fairysnuff, I meant to add, sorry you are feeling blue about your pregnancy. It's all so difficult isn't it. As I get older and especially if you have a child you know more people and realise how sadness can lurk round the corner, even for a potentially supposedly happy event.

I used to find the temp charting easy and the data easy to interpret but since my sleeping isn't as predicable due to the little one it isn't so much. Good luck with your charting though. I'm a charting obsessive and regularly refer to "taking charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler.

Yorky · 29/11/2007 10:14

Hi theochris and fairysnuff, I as starting to worry that I was the only one with dc under 1yr trying for a second, but you've reassured me. What is a chemical pregnancy fairysnuff, sorry to be nosey, hope you feel better soon.
We can be the peeing on sticks club!
On a slightly different note, has anyone looked at double buggies yet or are you all hoping firstborn will walk/buggyboard??

bohemianbint · 29/11/2007 11:36

Dunno if Persona is better - I'm just using it because I got it off ebay a couple of years ago and I was using it as contraception. Until I accidentally got knocked up. I'm sure the other ones are the same to be honest.

Hey Yorky - DS also obliging BF 2 stones off me, but unfortunately I was left with 3 after he was born and the last one aint shiftin'! Am deluding myself to think that if I don't put on any non baby weight whilst am pregnant next time, BF might mean I end up a stone lighter that I was when I started in the first place?

loopybear · 29/11/2007 14:55

Can I join too? DD is 16 months I've been broody since she was months and we've njust started TTC. DD was a complete suprise and my "miricle baby" as have PCOS and gynbacologist was sure I'd needed "intervention" as she put it to get pregnant. DH is sure if we can do it once a 2nd time will be easy. I've not told anyone. DH has told people at work as he wants no. 2 to arrive before he goes to Afganistan this time next year, so pressure is on! AM taking vitamins (both of us) and my GP basically said to have sex at least every other day!!! Am open to any other suggestions??

Yorky · 29/11/2007 15:27

love the theory bohemian, baby yourself thin - if you b/f twins do you end up anorexic!
loopybear, where does DH work, afghanistan could be good for bank balance but harsh on you with potentialy two little people

fairysnuff · 29/11/2007 16:28

I was told about it the last time I had one and didn't really know.
As far as I understand, it is when the egg is fertilised but does not manage to stick around when it tries to implant itself.
This time I actually had implantaion bleeding(small amount of spotting) but then it was horribly like end of period colour for a couple of days(sorry if TMI) Then the real thing hit in three days later cos I really thought that was us on the way. What with all the other symptoms. DH and I just knew, too. We did with DD too.
Ah well, someone else has told me that you are more likely to get another of those if you concieve again, within a year, but that you should be ok after that?
Does that mean that having had my 2 chemical pregnanies now, I am more likely to get a real one?
Not sure I understand what they really meant though??

loopybear · 29/11/2007 21:16

Oh Yorky he does it for Queen and Country!! Or rather as he would say Bush & Blair stitch them all up so he does it for the pension!! But he points out he can't spend much money out there so will save a bit!

Yorky · 29/11/2007 22:31

loopybear - I thought that might be it, not many people go to Afghanistan for the culture! DH got back from Basrah end Aug and we're moving in a fortnight, good luck fitting#2 round dets, and him being there for the birth - DH got back 4 days before DS arrived a week early in Jan!
