Hi!

I have been TTC this month. I got a flashing smiley face on the clearblue OPKS this morning so all is looking good! I would love to talk to anyone else who is also TTC this month... I am currently driving my husband mad as it's all I can talk about. 😊

I think with DH it's more them being £25-£30 😂💸 and me getting all those peaks - he thinks they don't work. I may get the 2 day fertile ones as they don't track do they they just give you a smiley or a blank face. Eugh decisions. Don't want to over think it as I don't think the stress of it will help either. Do feel a bit uneasy without them though. What do people think about the cheapies? Are they rubbish?

LeeTTCRainbow · 24/07/2021 12:09

@LittleDoveLove so sorry for your loss, I know all too well how you feel, chin up and here if want to talk.
Sending baby dust your way for your 🌈 xxx

@LittleDoveLove I really like the Boots ones and used them with DD. They are cheaper, easy to use and I've found them very reliable.

I’ve been using the internet cheapies but haven’t been a fan! I’ve just ordered the clear blue one now but ordered from Dr Fertility which seemed cheaper! Xx

newtolineofduty · 25/07/2021 19:14

Right ladies! I'm on a mission to boost my cervical mucus as I don't get a lot of EWCM. I have started evening primrose oil and I also read that pink grapefruit juice helps too so I purchased some of that today!

Hope everyone is doing ok! X

QueenLagertha · 25/07/2021 19:33

@newtolineofduty me too 😂 started evening primrose oil yesterday. And I've bought cough medicine. It's recommended in "taking charge of your fertility" book. Robitussin is the brand but I bought boots own brand. It's supposed to thin mucus, making it easier for sperm to swim through it.
You could also try pre seed. Didn't work for me this month though. It's in offer on Amazon.

newtolineofduty · 25/07/2021 19:45

I've bought some conceive plus! But I was going to wait and try that next month rather than everything at once! X

QueenLagertha · 25/07/2021 20:06

I bought EPO to try to balance my hormones. My PMS has been awful. Extra mucus will be a welcome side effect too Grin
Bought DH wellman conception vitamins.
Oh and I've bought ubiquinol to take also.
So much for relaxing this month 🙄

newtolineofduty · 25/07/2021 20:27

I know I wasn't like this at all when trying to conceive my last baby! It's because I've convinced myself I'm infertile due to my age! X

QueenLagertha · 25/07/2021 20:37

I have convinced myself it's due to my eggs now. We didn't even try for DS. Just happened first time we didn't use contraception. Had expected it to take a while so was shocked at the time. I was 30 though. Now 34
What age are you? I keep reminding myself that most women have babies in their mid to late 30s and beyond these days. And that a perfectly fertile couple can still take up to a year to conceive.

newtolineofduty · 25/07/2021 20:57

I'm 36. I just can't get out of my head everything that says 'after 35 x, y and z....'

I'm the same as you we got pregnant very quickly last time (second month but first month missed ovulation!) so the fact it hasn't happened as quickly this time means I think there must be something wrong! X

LittleDoveLove · 25/07/2021 21:07

I'm 38, I was 35 when I conceived my first child 😊 my family have children late, one had one of theirs in their late 40s. I worry about my egg quality especially after last month but I'm just going to try and relax now and hope we conceive again. I have pregnacare and omega 3 tablets, I use my massager - it's like this thing over your shoulders to destress it's amazing I love it, and I'll have my reflexology. I haven't bought any sticks this month (yet!) x

newtolineofduty · 25/07/2021 21:24

I'm similar @LittleDoveLove in that all my friends waited until slightly 'later' to have babies so a couple of friends have only just had their first baby, and half my NCT group were over 35, so I know it's 'normal' and perfectly possible to have a baby over 35, but I guess it's just me thinking the worst which is what I usually do! X

QueenLagertha · 25/07/2021 21:37

Me too @newtolineofduty I always think the worst!
@LittleDoveLove I might give reflexology or acupuncture a go soon. Need to suss out someone local to me who specialises in fertility.

I've been reading "it starts with the egg". Def recommend it. Lots of ways to improve your egg quality. Also have "taking charge of your fertility". It's good for teaching about charting end fertile signs.

On one hand I think I feel less stressed if I'm trying things to improve our chances. On the other hand I worry that I'm stressing myself out with it all 🤷‍♀️would love to just relax and go with the flow but I don't know how to stop

newtolineofduty · 25/07/2021 21:40

@QueenLagertha I've heard good things about that book! I keep thinking I'll try for six months and then maybe do more research etc! I've booked some reflexology but want it for relaxation more than anything! X

QueenLagertha · 25/07/2021 21:46

I bought it starts with the egg on kindle. So cost me £8. But I think the list of supplements etc recommended is online anyway. I'm not going to dump all my Tupperware and nonstick pans just yet though lol and I already have a healthy diet. I bought the ubiqunol (COQ10) and b complex as recommended.

TCOYF I bought secondhand for £4 online. Decided to try temping and the Robitussin cough medicine recommended.

LittleDoveLove · 25/07/2021 22:33

I might read that book next month, I know my mind that if I over think it it will not help me but I would be interested to know it's recommendations. Yes I do the reflexology for relaxing, I know it was actually relaxing that helped me last month, almost felt my ovary ping 😂 x

MrsRosaline · 26/07/2021 08:02

@LittleDoveLove I am booked in for a massage tonight and reflexology on Wednesday! Time for some chill I think...

OP posts:
MrsRosaline · 26/07/2021 08:13

Flashing smiley this morning on CD8 which seems early but here we go again...!

OP posts:
LittleDoveLove · 26/07/2021 14:49

@MrsRosaline that's great, I think I'm going to go by temp and CM this month. My app is calculating my fertile window days wrong due to Chemical last month so I'm just going to have a good go from CD10-CD22 I think. Debating buying the cheapies still but going to hold off on clearblue 4 day ones, may try the 2 fertile days but DH keen to just give it a go and not worry about the sticks!

newtolineofduty · 26/07/2021 15:28

Eek the idea of ovulating early @MrsRosaline makes me think I should do the clear blue after all! X

@LittleDoveLove I'm in the same dilemma-don't want to overthink but also interested in trying different things!

Wish I could have got my reflexology booked sooner! X

MrsRosaline · 26/07/2021 16:18

I am definitely more obsessed than I should be. I used three different OPKs as well as OvuSense, which records BBT 🤦🏻‍♀️ Clearly isn't working too well for me so perhaps a more chill approach is better!

OP posts:
newtolineofduty · 26/07/2021 18:36

Do all the OPKs match up @MrsRosaline out of interest? Xx

MrsRosaline · 26/07/2021 21:04

Yes usually everything matches up, the OPKS and the BBT which means I can pretty accurately know when ovulation was.

Something weird happened last cycle, where I got my peak on a Sunday with Clearblue, positive Boots OPKS on Sunday and Monday, and I also use Mira which also identified a surge on the Monday. However, OvuSense said I ovulated the following Friday, I.E four days later than the OPKS suggest!

OvuSense claim that when they identify ovulation you can be sure it is 99.9% accurate so I'm not sure what happened there. Perhaps I just had a very delayed ovulation after the peak, which is annoying because we stopped DTD on the Wednesday 🤦🏻‍♀️

I mean really I shouldn't use so many devices 🤷🏻‍♀️ But I'm a bit of a control freak

OP posts:
newtolineofduty · 26/07/2021 22:25

Hmm how confusing! I wouldn't have had a chance of conceiving either as I've been stopping DTD on second peak day! Might have to keep going this month every other day until day 18 or something! This is making me want to test for ovulation as I'm so anxious about missing it like if it's freakishly early or late! X
