Hi ladies,

I’ve been lurking for a few days, just seeing what the deal is, trying to work out some of the terminology used, mostly going to post but then getting scared and carry on lurking haha.

I don’t really have anyone I can talk about the TTC journey with in my real life as we aren’t telling anyone as it stands so I’m hoping maybe I can make a few friends here that I can obsess and stress out with 🤣

I’m currently CD 7 in my first cycle so tracking with OPKs every day right now so that I can get a clearer picture of my cycle each month.

I’m 30 and this will be our 1st,

If anyone has any advice/is in a similar position to me or just wants a natter I’d love to hear from you 😊

Xx

Hi @GingerTea333 I was reading your posts from earlier and I can definitely agree with wanting a BFP then actually petrified of seeing the two lines at the same time! Fingers crossed for you x

KayL1988 · 01/06/2021 22:18

I'm CD3 so also gearing myself - I think a few of us are quite early in the cycle and a few are near the end/overdue.

Looking forward to our first good news story as a group 🥰

SareBear87 · 01/06/2021 22:28

Welcome @GingerTea333 and @1stimer16

@KayL1988 I actually spat my tea out at that scare the sperm comment. DP looked at me like I'd lost the plot!

@1stimer16 I was worried about doing it too much, apparently so long as you both feel up for it and aren't too exhausted it's fine. The nurse told me to leave 12 hours between sessions and mornings are better than evenings - like I have time in the morning!

I'm on CD2, due to O around the 14th according to Flo

🤞🏻we get some BFPs this month!

1stimer16 · 01/06/2021 22:35

@SareBear87 yeah I suppose the morning makes sense, I think as long as the ovulation week is covered then fingers crossed should be ok!

I also promised myself I wouldn’t test too early but it’s so tempting when AF is like 5 days away and you just wanna know!

SareBear87 · 01/06/2021 22:42

@1stimer16 yeah try holding off as long as you can. I normally get to 11DPO and need to POAS. I think it's a combination of hormones and wanting to know. I do have a horrible habit though of testing, getting a BFN and thinking "ah, it's because there's not enough hGC yet" then being utterly devastated when AF shows!
Every month I tell myself I will have more patience, every month I fail 🙈

I have no idea how ladies of Ye Olde times managed. I can now totally see why there are so many old wives tales!

HRP1990 · 02/06/2021 07:53

Hi @1stimer16 👋🏻 It’s so nice to see so many of us in the same boat! The thought of AF is upsetting however CD1 is the start of a new cycle and only 2 weeks to Ov!

I think I’m Ovulating today so I’m abit further ahead. I wanted to try SPEM plan however I’m trying not to plan and keep it fun.

Not sure how fun it’ll get cycle after cycle though 😂

KayL1988 · 02/06/2021 08:13

@HRP1990 yeah It's quite funny because you see people on TV shows running in to their husband like 'I'm ovulating... trousers down' and think... god as if you'd ever do that. Now I think... ummm I see how that happens!

Ovulating today is exciting!! 🥰🥰

HRP1990 · 02/06/2021 08:20

@KayL1988 haha that’s us in a few months time!

I watched The Hills last night and Heidi is so desperate for another baby bless her. They spoke about having another and the next day she comes home with a million pregnancy tests 😂

Fingers crossed it is today 🤞🏻 I’m on CD19, last month was a 25day cycle so I’m in for a long one!

Peachycream · 02/06/2021 09:01

Morning ladies,

So I got my flashing smiley face this morning, which isn’t great, because of conflicting work schedules I think I’m just going to miss my window, unless my body can hold out for the next day, then I may just squeak it! So I’m tempted to stop testing and count myself out before I’ve even start this cycle cause I think if I see that static smiley tomorrow it may just tip me over the edge haha. Do anyone else use CB and know how many days after the flashing smiley do they get the static?

In other news, it turns out my health app that comes with my phone as standard is more accurate than my premom app, which is scary considering the only thing I put in that is when my period starts and ends and the premom one I put all my OPKs in! Premom is still giving me 4 days before my window and my health app alerted me this morning it would start today!

Morning Peachycream! So the bad news of there isn't a set number of days because your estrogen can rise at different levels - I've read some women get it the next day, but last month (which was my first month) it took mine 5 days. How many days does your work schedule clash??? Xxx

KayL1988 · 02/06/2021 09:15

Also the static smiley doesn't mean the eggs there does it - just that it's on its way down in the next 24-48hrs plus sperm can live for up to 5 days so there's still a fair chance.

The thought of sperm just chilling inside me for 5 days when I'm dtd lots around ovulation still weirds me out. All having a party in there waiting for my egg to hopefully show up!

Peachycream · 02/06/2021 09:19

Hey @KayL1988 the next 2 days :( but I have read somewhere that you get a static at the LH surge and then ovulation is around 48 hours after that, so going by that math I could just squeak in this month and at least get in 1 DTD before........ 🤞 erugh why is this so hard?! Haha!

OP posts:
Peachycream · 02/06/2021 09:20

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I like to imagine one in a little too hat knocking on the egg going “excuse me madam, may I enter please?”

OP posts:
KayL1988 · 02/06/2021 09:25

Yes definitely DTD whenever you can I say - static smiley just means the egg is on its way down.

It's so hard ... Especially when your both busy or tired or unwell.

KayL1988 · 02/06/2021 09:27

Hahaha @Peachycream that made me laugh 😂😂

I like to imagine them all chilling like in a pub giving it some bravado about whose going to get to the egg first. 'Nooo mate honestly .... I'm speedy as anything'

Peachycream · 02/06/2021 09:28

I don’t know if just to stop testing just to save myself disappointment? What would you do? Xxx

OP posts:
Peachycream · 02/06/2021 09:30

🤣🤣 can you imagine? All sitting on bar stools with a pint like “.....nah Kate you’ve got no chance with her! She’s looking at me!”
“No way! I’ll arm wrestle you for her!!!!”

OP posts:
Peachycream · 02/06/2021 09:30

This freaks me out too! The thought of sperm just pitching up for 5 days and having a swim about 😂

Like a day out at the lido @HRP1990

Has anyone seen what it looks like by the way? They captured the moment of ovulation on camera and you can see the pictures on google. It’s the weirdest thing, it looks like an alien spitting out a cod liver oil capsule

OP posts:
HRP1990 · 02/06/2021 09:45

@Peachycream as I’ve got older I get more freaked out, the thought of this happening sends me over the edge 😂 I couldn’t watch it!

I’m not sure if this helps but I got a static smiley yesterday and says it stays for 48 hours. (It was the first day I used it so I didn’t see any flashing smileys ) but I’d DTD as much as possible in the run up as the sperm can last for 5 days 🤞🏻

I read on the box some people see it flash for days and days! Others like 1/2?

Peachycream · 02/06/2021 09:54

@HRP1990 it was one of those things that I just came across and I couldn’t not look at it it was that odd! I ended up going through all of the pictures watching it happen step by step and at each one gradually getting more like.......oh my god! Wtf!!! 😂

That does help thank you! Providing I don’t get a static tomorrow I should JUST make it in time

OP posts:
KayL1988 · 02/06/2021 09:55

Yeah it varies like HRP said. If it's stressing you out @Peachycream then I'd say stop testing - stress is not necessary. If I felt like it was stress I'd just DTD at much as I can for the next week but live in absolute bliss of not knowing when I actually ovulated this month.

1stimer16 · 02/06/2021 09:56

@HRP1990 ha that’s the same as me....just ignore the actual biology and see what happens.
