Hi ladies,

I’ve been lurking for a few days, just seeing what the deal is, trying to work out some of the terminology used, mostly going to post but then getting scared and carry on lurking haha.

I don’t really have anyone I can talk about the TTC journey with in my real life as we aren’t telling anyone as it stands so I’m hoping maybe I can make a few friends here that I can obsess and stress out with 🤣

I’m currently CD 7 in my first cycle so tracking with OPKs every day right now so that I can get a clearer picture of my cycle each month.

I’m 30 and this will be our 1st,

If anyone has any advice/is in a similar position to me or just wants a natter I’d love to hear from you 😊

Xx

@HRP1990 I’m tempted to buy one of those to track my temp... they’re not too expensive from Amazon!

Do any of you use an app to track too? I’m using Flo atm but I’m not sure how accurate it is!

Peachycream · 30/05/2021 18:41

@HRP1990 I read up about the thermometers and they sound really good but I think they’d be less than useless for me as I wake up 500,000 times a night so apps and OPKs are my only options I think 🤔

Welcome @Ksamson555! I downloaded all the apps 😂😂. I've got Ovia, Premom and Flo - Flo was where I tracked my periods before TTC, Premom I downloaded to record my ovulation strips in and Ovia was recommended somewhere so thought I'd try that too. Now I've used them all I must say I'm not crazy about Ovia - although their articles were interesting. What apps is everyone else using???

@HRP1990 I'll let you know how I get on with the temperature measurement too - I've got the clear blue ovulation tests and the cheapies - so curious to test them out - then I can decide what works for me. I e also got vitamins 😂 my hubby's been rubbish at taking his though - no idea how to make sure he takes them. Anyone have any tips on getting them to take vitamins??

HRP1990 · 30/05/2021 18:53

@Peachycream I’ve read your temp needs to be taken before you even get up so it might not be accurate?

@Ksamson555 I use flo which I like, but also Premom to upload the images of the OPK’s to. I think you can upload your temp to Premom aswell

HRP1990 · 30/05/2021 18:54

@KayL1988 there’s no chance in hell my boyfriend would take vitamins 😂 I told him there’s literally 1 day a month we can get pregnant and he almost spat his beer out.. it’ll take time haha

Ksamson555 · 30/05/2021 18:56

@KayL1988 I find Flo quote useful to track my periods, and I’ve been counting my cycles and making a note on my phone to see what my ‘normal’ is... I’m on CD 34 today and still not come on but the getting negative when I’ve tested so I’ve no idea what’s going on! I was taking naproxen for a back injury last month so I wonder whether that has messed with my cycle!
@HRP1990 I’ve bought some of the vitamins but it said on the back it can change your usual cycle pattern so I was a bit apprehensive... have you found they affected yours at all?

Ksamson555 · 30/05/2021 18:57
@KayL1988 there’s no chance in hell my boyfriend would take vitamins 😂 I told him there’s literally 1 day a month we can get pregnant and he almost spat his beer out.. it’ll take time haha
Haha mine had a similar reaction when I mentioned the 3 day window 😂 still don’t think he believes me!!

HRP1990 · 30/05/2021 19:00

@Ksamson555 I’ve only taken the preconception ones for about a week so I can’t comment yet but I think I read that somewhere. My last cycle was 25 days and before that 28, so I’m not sure I’d notice just yet

HRP1990 · 30/05/2021 19:05

@Ksamson555 haha I think it’s because they’re told to wrap up 🥴 encase they get every girl pregnant 🙄 when really it’s not that straight forward

Ksamson555 · 30/05/2021 19:08

@HRP1990 ahh right 👍🏻 Let me know how you get on with them!

KayL1988 · 30/05/2021 19:10

My husband was also super confused when I explained how few days we could actually get pregnant! Mind you I was shocked too!!

@Ksamson555 I've been using the conception vitamins for about 3 weeks - and my cycle was the exact same length as normal so it's not changed mine. I have 27 day cycle more often than not (range is 26-29) and This month.... it was 27!! Will continue taking next month - I've had to reorder mine and my husband still has a box full 😂

Ksamson555 · 30/05/2021 19:17

@KayL1988 Ahh right that’s good to know then! I might give them a go ☺️

SH1000 · 30/05/2021 21:27

Hi ladies, hope you all had a fabulous weekend. Cannot wait to watch the friends reunion. Watched my best friends wedding over the weekend and blubbed, it always gets me 😂

My AF arrived today Sad I symptom spot every month and even though I took a test a few days ago (BFN) I always think it could be wrong Blush

Has TTC messed up anyone else’s cycles? I use to have a 28 day cycle like clockwork but this month it was 23 and before that it was 32. Very annoying!!

HRP1990 · 30/05/2021 22:15

Hey @SH1000 sorry that AF showed - bring on next month!

I haven’t been trying long enough to find out actually. I think I read in another thread a few people said vitamins had changes thier cycle slightly. Do you take any for conception maybe?

SareBear87 · 30/05/2021 23:14

@KayL1988 I've heard that preconception vitamins can play with your cycle, good to hear someone say they've been fine. I'm tempted by them but worried they'll screw with my cycle.

@SH1000 sorry AF arrived, it really sucks this conception lark!

I use Flo too, and I also link up with my FitBit. Flo seems pretty accurate for me but the little chatbot annoys me! Yes I've recorded EWCM, yes I know it's because I'm in my fertile window, I've been doing this awhile now 😆

SH1000 · 30/05/2021 23:26

@HRP1990 ah that is more than likely it. So odd!!

Thanks @SareBear87. I just want it gone now so can start again.

I’m not going to use opk’s or apps this month, I’m going to try the ‘relaxed’ approach and dtd every other day. I’m worried about not using them though because there’s only a couple of fertile days each month and it’s such a long wait for the next month. So hard to know what to do

KayL1988 · 30/05/2021 23:28

Yeah @SareBear87 I was a bit worried but then though actually it's probably best to go through any changes earlier on - as they'll probably do me good in the long run. Definitely glad it's not messed with my cycle!

Yeah flo app can be a bit annoying 😂😂 I ignore most of it to be honest!

KayL1988 · 30/05/2021 23:29

@SH1000 definitely just do whatever makes you the most relaxed! Every other day should still hit your fertile point - if you know the rough timing you could always aim for every day over those few days too!

HRP1990 · 31/05/2021 08:30

My last cycle was 25 days so if the vitamins were to lengthen I wouldn’t mind so much, I guess it would give my body more time to prepare to ovulate 🤷🏻‍♀️

@SH1000 DTD every other day you’re bound to hit your fertile window! I wanted to take the relaxed approach but I can’t keep myself away from the apps/tracking/googling everything 😂😩

Which vits to you take @KayL1988?

SH1000 · 31/05/2021 08:57

Thanks @KayL1988 and @HRP1990. It’s hard to stay away from the apps and things so we’ll see how it goes Hmm

Happy Monday!! Smile

KayL1988 · 31/05/2021 08:59

DTD is definitely the way forward and we'll probably aim to be active this month since we have less on! I also wanted to be relaxed but I felt more stressed not knowing anything. I'm that person who scours restaurant reviews and checks product reviews religiously though - so guess it's just me?

I just bought the pregnacare/wellman multivitamins - but to honest when I read up on it - it just said folic acid and vitamin d are the most recommended (and a lot cheaper). I already have a vitamin d supplement so may just get some good quality folic acid next month.

HRP1990 · 31/05/2021 09:50

@KayL1988 I’m the same! I like to look through Instagram at food before I order it 😂 And clothes before I purchase them!

I have the Pregnacare ones too. We’ll get lots of vitamin D for sure today, it is roasting this morning ☀️

Ksamson555 · 31/05/2021 10:09

@KayL1988 and @HRP1990 I’m exactly the same 🤣 always look into things beforehand (especially restaurants and menus haha).
I’m trying to be more chilled about ttc but I find I spend ages reading up on signs of implantation etc 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️ No harm in educating myself tho I suppose haha

HRP1990 · 31/05/2021 10:13

Me too @Ksamson555 😂 and what symptoms I might have at 4DPO (none by the way as it’s way too early haha) but always worth asking Dr Google just encase he has the answer I want to hear 🥴

SareBear87 · 31/05/2021 23:07

@Ksamson555 i symptom spot like mad! I had one month where I didn't check anything and that was only because work was manic

AF arrived this afternoon, bang on time, regular as clockwork so onto cycle 7.... I felt really crap about it but my partner pointed out that weather is better in March for a baby!
