Newbie looking for some support

Hi ladies,

I’ve been lurking for a few days, just seeing what the deal is, trying to work out some of the terminology used, mostly going to post but then getting scared and carry on lurking haha.

I don’t really have anyone I can talk about the TTC journey with in my real life as we aren’t telling anyone as it stands so I’m hoping maybe I can make a few friends here that I can obsess and stress out with 🤣

I’m currently CD 7 in my first cycle so tracking with OPKs every day right now so that I can get a clearer picture of my cycle each month.

I’m 30 and this will be our 1st,

If anyone has any advice/is in a similar position to me or just wants a natter I’d love to hear from you 😊

I have to say I absolutely love this little group - I also feel a lot more positive.

I'm going to ovulation test from the day after my period using CB and the strips - which is expensive but hoping it gives me more of an idea and I can at least target my peak days more effectively. At the end of the day I keep thinking it's worth a bit of investment now - if it gets a good result! Plus I'm saving money on wine right about now?? 😂

Thanks @HRP1990 I’ll try that, I bought loads of sticks online so I’ll start testing as soon as AF is over.

I’ve heard of SMEP but haven’t tried it yet. Might try it this month aswell, mix it up a little

@HRP1990 we've been trying the SMEP 😊

One thing I would say is that it can be exhausting! My cycles are ridiculously predictable and I ovulate on CD14 so we DTD on CD8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16.

Partner has managed to lose 5 kg over 3 months 😅 so at least some good has come of it!

I did worry we were DTD too much but apparently so long as there are 12 hours between, you're good!

@SareBear87 I did wonder what the day break was but I guess you need to refuel lol and don’t want to take the fun out of DTD.

I ovulated early I believe (CD12) so only manage CD8, 11, 12 and 13 🤞🏻

Hello! Ooh first one of these threads that I caught at the beginning. It's amazing to meet people in a very similiar poistion. I'm just shy of 30. I'm just finishing up with AF and then this will technically be our 2nd cycle of TTC but the first one tracking with OPKs etc.

I know some people say don't track because it can stress you out but I'm irregular and not knowing stresses me out so much more! Glad to see it seems like lots of you are on the same page

Hey @Upsideandundergarments! I agree I’m stressed if I track and the thought of not tracking is stressful too lol it’ll be good to use OPK if you’re irregular I think, so you can pin point O!

@Upsideandundergarments I completely get you tracking!!! It's so easy for people to say not to track and just relax - but how is that in reality! Like @HRP1990 said... it actually makes me stressed not knowing!!

Also I've been rewatching friends after the reunion and cried at Ben's birth - honestly when they say your clock starts ticking.. your hormones kick in..... and god help you 🥺 another lesson for a young me?

Have your watched the Bold Type? I won’t spoilt it but something baby related happens towards the end and I just balled 😂

I'm alright, AF has finally shown her face which I'm not surprised about so will spend most of the day relaxing! How's you??

I watched it the other day, I cried through almost all of it, mostly at the end though cause I’d spent 17 years waiting for a reunion and now it’s done it’s probably never going to happen again, it broke me haha!

@Peachycream I think it’s Kay that’s just started AF, I’m 3DPO I believe from my OPK’s. I have a fairly short cycle (25 days last month) so if I don’t see AF by 12DPO I’ll test 🤞🏻

Yes AF just arrived so CD1 - I'm fine with it to be honest. I didn't ovulation test the full month so I wasn't really expecting anything. We were originally going to try in August (after a wedding) but having read up on how long it can take decided to start ASAP. So if we get pregnant before August it's just a bonus...

Urgh I pressed enter too soon! Have you started using the clear blue tracker for your O yet??

I haven't seen the reunion yet, I thought we had Now TV but it turns out it was one of those subscriptions we cancelled when we started TTC (figured every penny counts!)

How is everyone feeling? I'm CD28/13DPO so waiting for AF to show. I stopped testing Friday because everything had been a BFN and I just couldn't deal with another one! At least the sun is shining!

@HRP1990 they're really regular, normally around 28/29 days, I had a positive OPK on 15th so Ov'd around 16-17th - just a horrific waiting game now.

I figured at some point Amazon and/or Netflix would pick up the reunion so I can watch it then, never thought to look at YT!

I hear you about the vitamin D! Gotta get all those vitamins in ladies 😂

@KayL1988 I haven’t got it yet, I’m hoping it should arrive today or tomorrow so I can start using it. I’ll let you know as soon as I use it though, 99% of the reviews on Amazon are good for it so fingers crossed it will be good. It should turn up in time to start tracking my peak, or so my calendar says and it’s impossible to tell with the sticks cause they’re either positive or negative, at least this one seems to give you a run up of both the O hormones and populates charts on my phone, and anything I don’t have to manually populate is a bonus!
Yeah it was really well done, at first I was gutted when I heard it wasn’t going to be an episode cause I wanted to see if Ross and Rachel were married and how Monica and Chandler got on with the twins and if they ever had their own biological baby. But I’m really glad it turned out the way it did cause I think a new episode would have totally ruined the feel for friends, it’s so good I still cry to this day when I watch the last episode haha.

I’m glad you’re not feeling too down about it all, it can be a fine line between okay and total heartbreak I guess. That would be nice though if it happened, although, don’t be one of those people who announce at a wedding 🙈

It can be a BFP at the most unexpected time @SareBear87 so don’t count yourself out too soon hun!

I quite like the sticks at the moment as you can see them get darker the closer you are to peak, and see how long the surge lasts for.

Does anyone track using thier body temp? I’ve read lots about it and supposedly it’s more reliable? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Im now on cd40 of first month ttc#1, last tested on friday to a bfn so have stopped. If af still hasn't shown by Friday I will test again!

@HRP1990 I bought a thermometer last week and going to use it this cycle. I'm not sure I'll use it every cycle but quite fancy having as much info as possible. All the gear no idea?! 😂😂

I’m 30 and ttc with our first! @Peachycream I’m also a newbie - have been umming and arring as to comment on a thread but really struggling at the moment as no one knows we are trying!
I came off the pill in jan 2020 and it took 6 months for my periods to start again! We’ve been trying since but no luck so far... I was initially using OPKs but found I was stressing about it! Especially with my partner working shifts, he’d sometimes be working the day I’d get a smiley 🤦🏻‍♀️

Wow that’s a long time! They do say the pill can take a minute to come out of your system though don’t they? I’m not sure. I know what you mean about tracking, I’m not sure how long I’m planning on doing it for, my other half works away sometimes so if I find it too stressful I’m sure I will give up too haha

Oh ladies, my clear blue connected arrived today so will set it up tonight and let you know how I get on!

@Ksamson555 sounds like we’re all in the same boat, this is the 1st thread I commented on! I didn’t want to tell anyone either so it’s nice to chat to you all 30 something’s about TTC#1
