Hi ladies,

I’ve been lurking for a few days, just seeing what the deal is, trying to work out some of the terminology used, mostly going to post but then getting scared and carry on lurking haha.

I don’t really have anyone I can talk about the TTC journey with in my real life as we aren’t telling anyone as it stands so I’m hoping maybe I can make a few friends here that I can obsess and stress out with 🤣

I’m currently CD 7 in my first cycle so tracking with OPKs every day right now so that I can get a clearer picture of my cycle each month.

I’m 30 and this will be our 1st,

If anyone has any advice/is in a similar position to me or just wants a natter I’d love to hear from you 😊

Xx

@Dannii892 we laugh, but a picnic in the park sounds pretty cute now I’m picturing it 😂

Yeah it is, it sucks that you can’t just know straight away. To be fair, I’m not really pulling my hair out about it, after my meltdown of did I miss my window or did I not, I sat and thought for my own sanity I’m better off just telling myself that I missed the window. So far it’s actually worked pretty well for me, I’m not feeling stressed or anxious BUT I am only 3 days past so give it a minute 😂 xx

Welcome @PurpleCat88 I don’t temp because my sleep is too disturbed so it would t work for me but use OPKs and premom app also 😊

How are you finding it so far? Xx

OP posts:
Dannii892 · 08/06/2021 19:51

@Peachycream yes maybe I should try to reset my mind into thinking I missed ovulation and think about next month instead.. 🤔

Peachycream · 08/06/2021 19:59

@Dannii892 it appears to be working for me! We just need to find ways to be kind to ourselves as well because stressing can hinder the process sometimes.
But you gotta do whatever works for you and whatever is gunna make you feel calmer. I’ve always been a bit like why worry if you can’t change it and you’ve done everything you can up to the point of O, past that it’s outta your hands xx

@Peachycream - tbh I’m still new to temping so I’m probably doing it all wrong (I know you’re supposed to take temp at the same time everyday, but I can be an hour either side of my usual time). I have a Bluetooth thermometer that uploads straight to the Premom app, so no inputting required!

I’m finding TTC not too bad so far - the last cycle I was convinced I have symptoms on 9&10 DPO and I took a test on 10DPO which was BFN and got my period that afternoon - I will be waiting longer this month!

I found the couple of months before starting TTC worse as I was reading loads of threads on here and starting to obsess a bit, but now we’re trying I’m doing that less which is weird. I’ve also been reading a book ‘the impatient women’s guide to getting pregnant’ which is putting my mind at ease a bit. Has anyone else read it? Smile

Peachycream · 08/06/2021 20:26

@PurpleCat88 no! Is it good?! Do I need this book in my life?!

Yeah when I researched it you’re supposed to do it at the same time every day and before you even get outta bed, is that right? I kinda gave up looking at it once I found out that you have to have a steady sleep, I wake up too often in the night so it just wouldn’t work for me from what I read. Do you find it helpful though?

That’s the trouble with symptom spotting isn’t it, you get all excited but so many of them are the same as period symptoms. Like you, I had done a bit of lurking on here and read all the symptoms in other peoples threads and was convinced I had them, even though it wasn’t possible at the time 😂 it’s funny what your brain can do to you at times.

When will you be testing this time? Will you wait until AF doesn’t show or do you plan on testing earlier? Xx

Dannii892 · 08/06/2021 20:47

@Peachycream yeah you're right, I cant change whats happening to my body but I can change my mindset .. it will happen until than I'll just enjoy what I have already.. 😊
This is why these sites are so important x thanks

PurpleCat88 · 08/06/2021 20:55

@Peachycream it’s a good book - the right mix of humour and facts! For instance it debunks the whole ‘a women’s fertility falls off a cliff at age 35’ as apparently the data that’s often cited for that ‘fact’ is from 17th century French birth records, and the author uses much more recent data to show that’s not true snd it’s not all doom and gloom. Really interesting. It goes into d as ok the gators tracking methods and shows the benefits for each.

I’ll let you know if I’ve found temping useful after it’s confirmed I’ve ovulated - haha!

I’ll try and hold out this month until 12DPO - that’ll be a longer luteal phase at least, even if I do get AF.

PurpleCat88 · 08/06/2021 20:57

*it goes into the various tracking methods - sorry for the typos!

SareBear87 · 08/06/2021 22:02

@PurpleCat88 I've ordered that book! Are you enjoying it? I'm hoping it will distract me during the TWW (O day on the 14th 🤞🏻).

I think everyone on here is in a similar situation and I think we are all in the late 20's-early 30's bracket which is nice!

I have a good feeling we will get some BFPs!!

HRP1990 · 09/06/2021 07:53

Wow I missed a lot! Hi @justwant2beamum @PurpleCat88

@Dannii892 I’ve always wanted a Doberman they’re so cute!! Stressful having a puppy isn’t it 😂 good practise though!

@PurpleCat88 I might give that a read! I need something to take my mind of things and hopefully give me a better perspective on the process!

I haven’t tried tempting yet but the Bluetooth to your phone sounds great! I might try that a few cycles in if I’m unlucky this time around.

@Peachycream I’m trying to think of the now.. than the future otherwise I’ll scare myself out of all the changes haha. I’m focusing on the BFP and go from there 🤞🏻

Dannii892 · 09/06/2021 08:47

@HRP1990 he is cute but he's a handful haha apparently it's harder having a puppy.. one can hope lol .. we got him 2 days after moving into our new home so it's been ALOT!

He’s gorgeous 😍

PurpleCat88 · 09/06/2021 08:52

@SareBear87 - I found it very reassuring and the author is funny but also informative. What did you think? I’ve skim read most of the book, but will probably go over in more depth soon.

@HRP1990 yep the Bluetooth is very useful, but those thermometers are a bit more expensive. I kept thinking I won’t spend money this month Because what if it’s the month I get pregnant, but as soon as AF came I was straight on Amazon prime to get a thermometer lol Grin

justwant2beamum · 09/06/2021 10:37

Oh that book sounds good. I think I'm perhaps a bit further on than some of you guys as this is cycle 8 for me as I had a mc, but I find it helpful being around people more my age and trying for baby #1 so hopefully you won't mind me sticking around. But I've just recently bought and started reading "it starts with the egg". I want to try and lead a healthier lifestyle anyway and fingers crossed I can give my eggs a boost too 🤞🏻 xx

HRP1990 · 09/06/2021 11:03

I’m sorry to hear about your MC @justwant2beamum! I didn’t realise how common they are, same with chemicals until I joined. It’s not spoken about enough. We’re here to see your journey through to a BFP!😘

I really like reading, especially in the sun! I might purchase either book.. I just need to remember to keep it out of sight of neighbours.. family and friends haha

PurpleCat88 · 09/06/2021 11:39

@HRP1990 - I have the e-book so I can just read on my phone Smile

HRP1990 · 09/06/2021 12:08

That’s true! I do like a physical book sometimes though to keep me off my phone she says using her phone 😂🙄

Dannii892 · 09/06/2021 14:25

Had the most bizarre experience this morning.. I woke up at about 6am with intense period pain only lasted for about 5 mins - it went away and I went back to sleep .. anything like that is far too early no being 4DPO .. I deffinatly did not imagine it either because it woke me up and I would NEVER voluntary wake up at 6am lol .. anyone else ever experienced this even when not TTC? X

GingerTea333 · 09/06/2021 15:16

Hi ladies and welcome to everyone who has joined! I have been a bit silent because I have been busy at work but reading all your updates makes me laugh.

I’m currently freaking out because I’ve spotted / had loads of pink CM today as well as cramps and back pain. I’m only on CD9 so nowhere near ovulation. I have no idea what this is about and can’t get a doctor appointment for 2 weeks. Has anyone ever had this? I don’t know if it’s connected to my polycystic ovaries but it’s making me want to cry.

Peachycream · 09/06/2021 15:30

@GingerTea333 I’ve not had it before hun but I just had a little google and all that’s coming up for me is ovulation bleeding, have a little look into it hun, it might be worth a look for you? I’m sorry you’re feeling upset though, big hugs to you xx

Peachycream · 09/06/2021 15:34

@Dannii892 also not very helpful, but could it have been gas? 😂

I have no other ideas, which you’re probably wondering, why bother replying, but I didn’t wanna read and run 🥰

OP posts:
GingerTea333 · 09/06/2021 15:34

Thanks @Peachycream, definitely not ovulation bleeding as that’s still 10 days away! Also side note, my parents want to come and stay around the time of ovulation. Reckon we can still have sex with them in the room next door and just hope they don’t realise? Feels like I’m a teenager again trying to plan illicit encounters in my own home 😂

Peachycream · 09/06/2021 15:47

@GingerTea333 I always forget that cycles include your period. Could it just be remnants from that? I would go for it, sneak it in 😂 xx

Oh my god I had a busy day yesterday and missed so much (now trying to remember everything I wanted to respond to!).

@SareBear87 your cycle is pretty much identical to mine! I should ovulate this weekend ... got a date night planned on Friday to spark the romance!

@ConfusedNewbie21 I'm so sorry to hear that. Xx

@Dannii892 your dog is so cute!! I love dogs!

@Peachycream yes totally agree with the missed emotions. I was talking to a friend about plans for November and in my head I was like ... I could be pregnant how exciting. Then felt a bit scared... feels like I don't know what version of my life to plan for!

Welcome both... glad this chat seems welcoming!!

@justwant2beamum so sorry to hear about your MC, hoping this month is the lucky one for you! I'm using apps and thermometer for the first month... so we'll see!
@PurpleCat88 welcome too! Doing a trial run of testing seems a very good idea... I should have done that! I'm going to get that book on your recommendation, Exciting!
