Scan photo - confusion

Hi Everyone

I hope this is in the right place and that my rambling makes sense.

We went for our first scan on Monday (first pregnancy) and all went well. Quick scan, lady said the heartbeat is all ok and viable pregnancy. Felt a little bit rushed and I couldn't really see much due to mask and glasses flogging plus lots of grey but maybe I was expecting a little too much, tummy wiped and out of the door. I asked about a photo and was told they will be emailed across and theres a charity box for donations. Perfect, received the scan picture today and can see where baby is, but I expected to see a little bit more I guess. I have googled 12 week scans and you can clearly see that baby is well a baby. My LO just looks like a dot. I have seen a few family members scans and ones from friends and they look like babies.... am I being silly or is this normal? Willing to be told I need to give my head a wobble, I just expected a little bit more development I guess. My last period was 23rd Jan and due date given is Oct 29th. Will try and upload a photo now if I can hide the identifying information as we havent shared our news yet either. Thank you all :)

Your prenatal team sound a bit woeful. You usually have alot more interaction with first baby and covid or not, they should be seeing you f2f.

That's not a 12w scan, and the 17w +6d is very very odd. ...op go private and get it sorted asap. I wouldn't be returning to the same sonographer /machine!

I don’t think Snakeminder is disbelieve the OP. I think she’s saying the scan image she’s been sent doesn’t appear to be an ultrasound image of a baby...so that they’ve sent a shit/incorrect image. 🤷‍♀️

Hi everyone sorry for the delay in getting back to you, had a rubbish week with a throat infection so lots of rest and gargling salty water, not the bank holiday weekend planned.

We had the scan yesterday and I measure 10 weeks 4 days which is slightly under my calculations but hey ho. Had the same sonographer which was slightly awkward but she didnt seem to recognise me, again no comments about features until I asked, but the information was given when I probed so I guess that is a lesson for me being a bit more assertive! Photos are via email again, but not had them yet so I can't compare! I have a blood test booked in for next thursday at our local clinic too! Been tucked up in bed so done quite a lot of reading and feel a bit more aware. Thank you again for all your support :)

This has been the most edge of your seak thread I've read in such a long time. I am so so so hopeful for you and that everything turns out amazing. And what a story it would be to tell!!! Can't wait to see the pictures.
