Hi ladies

I'm 23 and my partner (27) and I are TTC baby #1!

It was our first month trying this month and AF is due 2nd/3rd of March, so far just BFN! My cycle is roughly 26/27 days! But didn't expect to get pregnant first cycle so I'm feeling ok 👌🏼

Anyone else TTC baby no 1 with a similar cycle? 🥰 xx

Ladies I’ve got myself in a tizz. I wanted to buy an early detection test but both the first response and clear blue ones have negative reviews online. Has anyone got any experiences with either? I don’t know why I’m so stressed about it but don’t want to do one and not have a clear answer. AF is due in the next 4-6 days.

Genevive123 · 06/04/2021 09:34

@Tulipwood hi lovely! are you able to nip down the shop to grab some ? I ordered FRER last month off Amazon and didn't notice the bad reviews! All mine were correct x

OP posts:
Kty09 · 06/04/2021 10:29

@Tulipwood I’ve seen plenty of people use the FRER, I think the negative reviews are from some indent lines showing up sometimes?!
But I have to say from looking on MN I’ve seen more positive stories than negatives! I’ve just bought some FRERs for this cycle. What DPO are you going to test?

Tulipwood · 06/04/2021 10:49

Yeah I was wondering if it was a case of just a few bad reviews. People don’t add their positive reviews to Amazon often do they. Thanks for the reassurance @Genevive123 and @Kty09

I’m not sure I’ll get a chance to nip out for a test today so will probably go tomorrow which will be 11DPO.

Kat668 · 06/04/2021 12:23

@Kty09 thank you! Yay for your peak 😃 fingers crossed for you!

@Veronika13 thank you! When are you holding out till to test?
We wanted to try and be chill for the first few months, then if nothing we'll get on those OPKs!

Kat668 · 06/04/2021 12:26

@Genevive123 thank you! I'm finding it tough as I'm a very impatient person! 😂 I don't hold out much hope for this cycle too so that's making it harder ha ha

AllyCat31 · 06/04/2021 12:55

6DPO and wondering when do people usually start testing? Got some early tests which I can start using from Friday and some cheaper ones I can use if AF is late but wondering if people find testing before AF is due too stressful or disappointing?

justwant2beamum · 06/04/2021 16:15

I get frer from Amazon but I think some people have had fake ones so watch out. That might explain the bad reviews x

xoJellyBean · 06/04/2021 16:46

I got FRERs on Amazon and they were fake x

taytay2020 · 06/04/2021 16:46

I tested this morning, 14dpo, and got a BFN as expected. But I'm glad I did it cos it meant I could stop wasting time wondering 'what if', and start being impatient for AF! One hour later, AF turned up. That makes my last cycle 27 days (the one before was 32 days and AF turned up 19dpo!). Crazy irregular cycle aside, I'm really excited to be on CD1 already - I thought I might have to wait several more days!

@kty09 @genevive123 I've considered not telling my DH that AF is here, or at least not today, because he's good at maths and last month he really felt the pressure during FW. But he did say he wanted me to keep him posted on my cycle, so maybe I'll just wait and see if he notices today, and then tell him tomorrow if not.

@kty09 congrats on your peak, I hope this is your month! It must be so hard when your OH is away at/near the crucial time, but I'm glad you could get some more BDing in this month (is that weird?!)

@genevive123 Fingers crossed for you this month too! This week the number of new babies/pregnancy announcements has ROCKETED for me! Hopefully we'll get some BFaprilPs on here!

@annwen I'm glad to hear you're doing okay!

@sher86 welcome, and I'm sorry you're having a hard time. You are definitely not alone in wondering if there's a problem, but chances are there isn't - even if you're doing everything 'right' and there are no health issues it's still just a lot of luck each month. I hope you get your bfp soon :)

Hi @kat668 and welcome! I used the mini pill too, and everyone seems to react differently to stopping it - for me the withdrawal bleed was about 3 weeks later, and I've had 2 'normal' cycles since then. I symptom-spotted a LOT in those first few weeks but it turned out to be post-pill symptoms. Typical!

@veronika13 @allycat31 I'm a late-tester! I don't want to have to squint at an inconclusive test and kick myself for getting no useful information out of it! :D So far I've tested no earlier than 14dpo, although I haven't got any FRERs so maybe I'd feel differently if I did. I've got a tesco cheapy (which is now slightly out of date) which I doubt would work at all if I tried to test early :D and some one step tests which seem to be reasonably sensitive. I also splashed out on a clear blue digital which I am absolutely not using until a different test gives me a BFP!

Sher86 · 06/04/2021 17:17

@taytay2020 thank you... quick one I didn’t do a health check before starting... should I? I did ultrasound last year and everything was good. Seeing as I am now trying I am not sure if I should see a doctor or should a wait a few more cycles?

taytay2020 · 06/04/2021 17:32

@sher86 No not at all, the NHS advice is to try for a year before contacting your dr. Have a read here: www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/trying-for-a-baby/trying-to-get-pregnant/

I did mention that we were thinking about ttc at my last contraception checkup and all my dr said was to start taking folic acid (which is also mentioned in the above).

Kty09 · 06/04/2021 17:58

@taytay2020 sorry AF arrived but as you said a new cycle is exciting, a new possible month!
I’ve only been off of BC a couple months as well and I deffo think it can take your body a little while to adjust, although some get lucky straight away!

I don’t know how I would be with totally timed and planned BDing (although in my head it kind of is 🤣) but I do prefer the just having fun and less pressure around it. Haha, thanks 🤣 i didn’t think about him working away being a big problem that much but it isn’t as easy for sure! I think I’ll be really gutted this time but 🤞🏼🤞🏼 X

Hi everyone,
Hope its ok to join. Never wrote in any of these forums before. Im due to get my breast implants out end of april and then we are looking to "not actively try but not prevent" to keep it fun and not get stressed. However i noticed that we accidently dtd on first blue window of ovulation in my flo chart. Not sure how accurate the flo app is but ive used it successfully to avoid pregnancy for 3 years. It said i ovulated on mon but thurs/fri before my sex drive was highest and tmi but it was slick down there 😂 Im super broody and really excited to get pregnant however i have surgery booked this month which will need to be cancelled if I amIprefer to have surgery first but would be happy regardless. im literally symptom spotting now. Last 2 days really bad wind sorry if tmi and night before i was boiling and struggled to sleep and kept waking up, last niggt i kept waking up again. Today i had some heart flutters and my heart rate shot up from my usual 59 to 84 just sat down, maybe stress from all this waiting because i havr surgery booked. Anyone ever had things like this and been pregnant? The wait is so hard, af is due a week today.
Thanks in advance

Sher86 · 06/04/2021 18:21

@taytay2020 thank you , I started taking folic acid in January but I start using the ovulation kit in March and from that my timings when we had sex and I ovulate were off. So I am using March as my ‘first month’ ttc. I did use lubes so for my next try I will not and hope for the best. I also stopped my coffee intake
I normally exercise.... is this ok? Cause I read a lot that they say not too vigorous
I know it only a few tries but it really had me down in the pits

Kty09 · 06/04/2021 18:57

Hey @Iris35
Flo has predicted my OD one day late each month so far (I’ve done OPKs to confirm) You’ve done well for 3 years!
I’ve literally just watched a video of somebody’s pregnancy announcement and she listed all those symptoms as her early symptoms!! Is it too early to do a test? X

Iris35 · 06/04/2021 19:05

@kty09 well that's good to know the app works for some. It's helped me to avoid but soon we want to try. I think its a bit too early as I should be 8dpo if app is right but felt I ov just before that. Af isn't due til a week today but I thought I might test on weekend. Just want to know as it completely changes my surgery plans and I don't want an invoice coming through to pay for it til I see af 😬 must be so hard doing this month after month. So glad these chats are here for us all.

Kty09 · 06/04/2021 19:15

Yeah the weekend sounds a good plan! Eeek you’ll have to keep us updated! Hope it works out for you either way 😊

Kat668 · 06/04/2021 20:30

@taytay2020 it would be so much easier if it was the same for everyone coming off the pill wouldn't it 😂 thank you, that helps, I'm three weeks off it now so we'll see of I get any withdrawal, period or nothing at all for a bit longer! Sorry AF arrived but as you say great to start a new cycle and know where you are 😊

Iris35 · 06/04/2021 20:46

@kty09 thank you 😁 good luck ladies I hope you get your bfp's soon 🤞

xoJellyBean · 07/04/2021 20:48

How we all doing?! ✨ CD 7 here!!

Genevive123 · 07/04/2021 20:54

Hi hun @xoJellyBean all good thanks lovely still no peak for me, so I think I will ovulate Saturday like I originally thought :) we've been DTD every other day! Is it better to DTD day of ovulation or day of peak? How are you doing on CD7 ? :) x

justwant2beamum · 07/04/2021 20:58

CD8 for me! X

Kty09 · 07/04/2021 21:39

I guess I’m now in the TWW as of now! 😬 need to try and keep myself busy!

@Genevive123 have you ever seen this video the great sperm race documentary? You need a bit of time on your hands 😂 it’s long and it’s quite old now but really interesting and some good info about when’s best to BD!

Veronika13 · 08/04/2021 01:38

(Af due 12th April)
Bought my tests, for the first time 🎉 (not counting cheapies in my teens when having pregnancy scare Grin)
Bought the nicest ones, that say how many weeks. Got just 2.

I'm sure when I've gone through months and months of ttc I'll be doing cheapies then saving nice ones once I've tested positive 😄
