@Dinomama21 wouldn't worry! Do one around 20m everyday that's when I find I get an accurate reading although chances are you arent ovulating today xxx

Gretafamily · 04/02/2021 09:23

I was Googling last night and has anyone used the salivary ferning kits??

Dinomama21 · 04/02/2021 10:10

@Markygirl1995 I think I'll leave it till tomorrow, its only because the CB app told me to test today, I'd say its too early too.

@Gretafamily sorry no not heard of it, everythings still pretty new and confusing to me haha Confused

Markygirl1995 · 04/02/2021 10:14

@Gretafamily never heard of it what does it do?

@Dinomama21 good plan! I would defo recommend getting some cheaper ones for the days you may not be ovulating thou incase xx

Markygirl1995 · 04/02/2021 10:16

@Itsjustme20 hello welcome sorry I didnt say that yesterday hahaha!

Gretafamily · 04/02/2021 10:56

@Dinomama21 @Markygirl1995 apparently you can check if you have ovulated by looking at your saliva through a small microscope and if it creates a ‘fern’ pattern it means ovulation is occurring. Sounds a bit pseudoscience but apparently the salt levels change when ovulating so crystallises saliva. Google says it’s 98% accurate but not sure!! And of course only buy the one kit rather than lots of strips

Itsjustme20 · 04/02/2021 11:27

@Markygirl1995 Haha that’s ok! 😊

Dinomama21 · 04/02/2021 14:54

@Gretafamily it never fails to amaze me the amount of things there are out there to help with TTC, learn something new everyday. They really should of taught us alot of this back at school, not sure whether they do now, all I remember is putting a condom on a banana 😂 I think ill use up my strips for the month then research more into it.

Hayesdays · 04/02/2021 19:10

@Gretafamily wow! I’ve not heard of that before! The human body really is amazing!

@Dinomama21 I think you’re right! I spent so long trying to not get pregnant that when we started trying we had no idea what we were doing...obviously we knew the basics Wink but I honestly had no idea that there’s basically 3 days-ish when the magic can happen!

Dinomama21 · 04/02/2021 19:17

@Hayesdays I have a vivid memory of a teacher telling us you can even get pregnant on your period so make sure you use protection, it was all about not getting pregnant and catching STD's😂 I had no idea about changes in CM, temperature and general changes to the body! The joys of being a woman!

Fraanne · 04/02/2021 19:57

@Dinomama21 @Gretafamily @Hayesdays I’ve learnt more on mumsnet than I did at school! All these years trying not to get pregnant and then when you do start trying you expect you’re going to be pregnant within days 🤣

Currently 2dpo today and this two week wait is going to drag! Attempting to keep my mind busy at all times! My house is going to be spotless during the ttw 🤦🏻‍♀️

pixiedust21 · 04/02/2021 20:05

Haha sorry to butt in ladies but I totally agree about expectations at school being wildly different to reality! I used to think it would happen basically the first 1 or 2 times you have sex, the way it was portrayed!

This waiting thing is going to drive me loopy and this is only month 1 Grin AF due tomorrow (I have long ish cycles so am currently day 33) and I took a test today which was ever so slightly faintly positive - a few ladies in another thread all swore they could see a line but I think I have line blindness.

Am going to test again tomorrow morning with first morning urine and then try and wait a few days. I'm sure my body is just playing up because I'm paying such close attention to it!!

Dinomama21 · 04/02/2021 20:12

@pixiedust21 not at all, the more the merrier! Oh I'm crossing everything for you that it's a Bfp! Let us know, I looooove looking at "line eyes" photos on this.

@Fraanne oh I feel for you, im only on CD7 and getting impatient wanting to start OPK testing, ha! 2WW is the worst, I gave myself all the symtoms some time last year, metal taste in mouth, sore boobs you name it I had it, and I was 5 days late! I think I'd properly stressed myself out that month between TTC and work. We can be our own worst enemy sometimes 😂

Fraanne · 04/02/2021 20:23

@Dinomama21 I’m the worst I feel like I make a symptom up, google it and then suddenly I’m 2 months pregnant! Turns out it’s just AF on its way! I’m not sure what wait is worse!

pixiedust21 · 04/02/2021 20:27

@Dinomama21 haha well if you want a challenge here you go! The more I look the more I'm sure there's not actually anything there. I will test again tomorrow anyway and in a few days if AF doesn't come.

This was this afternoon so not first morning wee or anything. I took pics at different angles where I don't think you can see anything at all to be honest !!

Test from Poundland because I'm not wasting my expensive FRER yet Grin

@pixiedust21 I dont blame you! I can see the faintest of lines in the first, I cant see anything in the other two though. I'd definitely be testing again tomorrow and hopefully its a stronger line. Exciting!

@Fraanne the only time I'm going to allow myself to get excited is when I dont show any symtoms at all or if I'm late.

pixiedust21 · 04/02/2021 20:44

@Dinomama21 yeah I thought it's too faint to really tell. Not really assuming anything and when I first saw it I assumed it was negative. Hopefully I'll be back with a stronger line in a few days otherwise I wish AF would just come and get out of the way haha.

Dinomama21 · 05/02/2021 08:38

@pixiedust21 let us know if you test today Grin

I'm after a bit of advice... we've just found out we'll be getting the keys to our new house in 2 weeks time (yey) so we have a lot of packing and preparing to do, which will make BD very difficult, more so than it is already as we have been living with my parents for a few months. Do we have yet another break from TTC? I dont want to put life on hold again, but you should've seen me trying to to an OPK test this morning with my DC1 banging on the door then my mother asking why I was taking so long Hmm Its so frustrating as I dont want to leave it so long but DP is telling me to be patient and let's wait untill after we settle in. Better said then done ha!

JoannaRose · 05/02/2021 09:35

@pixiedust21 I honestly can see a line in all 3 pics! 1st pic strongest, 2nd pic least strong but I can see it and 3rd is in the middle! Please update us on your test this morning I soo want to know (very nosey lol) xx

@Dinomama21 that’s a really tricky one because you want your best chances but also if it takes the fun out of it having stress going on then maybe it is better to wait? I have heard that the more relaxed you are the better your chances, but also surely there must be mums out there who conceived when they were stressed too, it sounds like either way is a good option as long as it feels the most right to you, have you got one that your gut is telling you to go for but your head is saying different? Xx

Dinomama21 · 05/02/2021 10:05

@JoannaRose I think deep down I know I shouldn't be stressing myself out about it, I'm having a very hard time at work at the moment to, and this TTC business keeps me distracted from all that crap, reading these forums and joining in has really helped too. I might just put the OPKs down for this month, and see what happens- go with the flow, which is going to be soooo hard haha. Honestly should've seen me this morning with the OPK- I nearly broke the bloody thing, and nearly peed on the wrong end Blush picture Mr bean trying to do a OPK, that was me! Think its best to wait for proper privacy in my own home!

pixiedust21 · 05/02/2021 12:09

Hi ladies tested again this morning with FMU but still not really anything (thought it should be a bit stronger if positive?)

Only thing i would say is I never usually see anything at all in the box on a FRER and I thought I could see a faint second line but husband just said "nope" Grin

On CD34 now (cycle average 33 days) so if I don't get AF soon I will definitely be late. Gahhhh. These faint lines will be the death of me. Going to try and leave it a few days.

Dinomama21 · 05/02/2021 12:44

@pixiedust21 I can see a really faint line too. Do they say wait two days for the lines to get stronger? Well AF hasn't arrived so thats a positive sign! Are you having any symtoms? I'm crossing everything for you!

pixiedust21 · 05/02/2021 12:52

@Dinomama21 yeah if it's positive it should only get stronger right - I'll wait til Monday maybe to test again but can't face getting another really faint line. 😂 other than not getting AF I have had tender nipples, but none of thee usual breast tenderness that I get before AF, some nausea too. But now not sure what I'm making up.

Just going to wait this one out and either I'll get AF or a stronger line.

Feel a bit flat today so going to try and take my mind off things and relax over the weekend too x

pixiedust21 · 05/02/2021 13:10

I've completely lost my appetite too but not sure if that's just a symptom or just my body being weird. Undoubtedly the latter!

JoannaRose · 05/02/2021 16:37

@pixiedust21 I can definitely still see a line in your last one - it is faint but it is there! Maybe it will get stronger, your patient waiting til Monday if it was me I’d be testing every day haha but I get that it must be emotionally draining not knowing for sure yet, hold on in there girl :) xx

@Dinomama21 that’s a good idea to try but not do the OPKs, less stress but you will still feel like you’re trying! How many months have you been trying now? Xx
