Extremely lonely in my TTC journey

DizSquiz · 20/01/2021 14:08

Hi all,
I'm extremely lonely when is comes to discussing TTC as I haven't told anyone that myself and my partner are starting our TTC journey, and are very excited about it.

Me and my partner discuss everything regarding TTC, however it would be nice if I could find some fellow TTC friends to discuss symptoms, O dates etc as he looks at me with a bit of a blank face 😶 when I discuss with him, he try's to understand but if I'm honest I don't understand myself so I'm not very good at explaining

And more importantly to celebrate everyone's BFP's when they arrive 🤞🏼👶🏼

Baby dust to all x

@DizSquiz hey :) I’m in my first cycle and haven’t told anyone yet either. I’ve started brooding hints that I’m getting broody etc and will want a baby in the next few years but no one knows we’re trying right now haha.

Where are you in your cycle?

Hi! How are you?
It's exciting isn't it and also very hard to keep quiet about I'm finding, this is also my first cycle TTC and I am CD18, getting a bit stressed as I don't really understand when I ovulate as I had my LH surge yesterday at 10am, but CM is dry and BBT is normal so I'm just a tad lost. (Sorry TMI)

What cycle day are you on? Xx

Hi! I’m very new to TTC too and in my second cycle, currently 3dpo.

No one knows we’re trying either, except my mum which I said we’re ‘casually’ seeing what happens so we didn’t feel the pressure of being asked if we’re pregnant yet.

So I’m missing have the TTC talk too about cycles, symptoms etc. Like you, my OH is interested but doesn’t quite get it all, plus I don’t want to bombard him with all the information so he doesn’t feel pressure either.

There’s a theme here of not pressuring anyone else, but hold it all on ourselves, eh ladies..? 🤔😕

Grace185 · 20/01/2021 14:20

Hey :) yeah I keep finding myself wanting to tell friends but I’m not going to for ages, only if we find it hard to get pg as I have a few friends who took a while so would go for them as support.

I’m CD29 and due af on Friday but I’ve only had one real cycle off the pill so could be later. I’m going to test late next week if af doesn’t come. I had some spotting a few days ago which I know can be a good or bad sign so I’m just waiting and being very impatient about it haha.

We just dtd most days around the time I thought I’d be ov but didn’t use any opks or temp, we want to stay relaxed for a bit :) but I’m sure I’ll want them soon haha.

How are you finding it?

MrsWilk10 · 20/01/2021 14:25

Can I jump on board??

Same for us, TTC baby no.2, first cycle, not telling anyone. My periods have been irregular for ages now, never quite returned to 'normal' after I had my son, then I had a cyst (benign) which caused me issues. My last cycle was 42 days (!) but I was fasting and pushing myself too far with exercise so since Christmas I have modified that and stopped fasting as I think it was taking energy away from my ability to ovulate. Anyway, I'm pretty sure I ovulated in the last 2 days, loads of symptoms but had negative ovulation tests which baffled me, but felt symptoms strongly so I am hoping I just missed the surge. It is soooooo difficult tho just waiting now. Working from home doesnt help either I find! I may have to start some kind of project to try and take my mind off every little twinge!

Totally agree ca8986, all the pressure on ourselves! Let's try and share that burden :)

@cat8986 Hi and welcome, How are you? Yes I agree absolutely, a lot of pressure.. I never realised it would be this hard if I'm honest. Brought up thinking that unprotected would get you pregnant instantly 🤔 it was only until I looked on MN that I knew differently really xx

Hey @DizSquiz didn’t want to read and not reply! I’ve told only a handful of my friends but none of my family.

I’ve only been Ttc since Oct but tracking my ovulation/BBT for a few years (was trying to get it ‘normal’ after being on the pill)
From what I gather, LH surges 24-48 hrs before ovulation. I was using the sticks for one month but found them useless to be honest. I read that the best way to determine Ovulation is BBT & monitoring CM.
When your CM is really slippery get to the bedroom! 😂
If BBT is normal it doesn’t sound like you’ve ovulated yet, when you see a rise in it you’ve ovulated. That’s why they say to have sex leading up to it when your temp is normal as once your temp goes up it’s too late. Are you using any apps to track?

Hope that makes sense?

@Grace185 ahh exciting your almost at the end of the TWW,🤞🏼sounds hopeful, yeah haha I started off just if it happens it happens and a few days later I had OPKs and a thermometer in my Amazon basket 🤦🏼‍♀️

Same here I was using an app called 'BD' and it predicted my ovulation around 15th, however I think that was incorrect as I did a OPK yesterday 10am and I was at my 'surge'

I'm slightly stressed tbh, I can't tell if I've ovulated or not and it's gotten me slightly down, I don't want to tell OH that as I don't want him to feel any pressure/stress during dtd xx

@NW2021 hey, welcome, I've been using Fermometer recently as my previous app wasn't very good, have been dtd every other day , I think I've just gotten myself a bit stressed as one app said 15th then LH surge was 19th (CD 17) and am a bit worried that I'm getting close to the start of my next cycle (04/01) so potentially may ovulate too late in my current cycle xx

How are you? Xx

NW2021 · 20/01/2021 14:49

@DizSquiz that’s good you can track your temp! I use Natural cycles. & good you’ve dtd every other day!
Is the app saying 15th because the temp risen? I’m not to sure on the LH rise to be honest, like I said I used once but didn’t find them helpful at all. It maybe that you have longer cycles maybe?
How long have you been tracking for? Have you just come off contraception as that might effect it X

@NW2021
Hey, the old app said 15th and the fermometer one says 20th, I'm leaning more towards the 20th as it makes sense (my cycles avg 32 days) this is my first time tracking yeah, I dunno how I'd manage all this if I wasn't WFH 😅 I was on contraception when I was 17 for a bit but it didn't work well with me so I just opted for the condoms until now xx

OP posts:
NW2021 · 20/01/2021 15:19

Oo first time tracking it can take a few months to get the hang of it and also to see the right dates etc.
I’d say more 20th then as well because you haven’t seen a rise in your temp yet either have you? So ovulation should be around now 😁
I’m the same! Thankfully I’m WFH as well, just means I’m more impatient and googling more symptoms now I’m home 😂

Juno231 · 20/01/2021 15:28

Hello! Just wanted to pop @DizSquiz and recommend fertility friend for your bbt tracking. I used to use femometer but found the algorithm often miscalculated ovulation day. E.g. as soon as I had any egg white cervical mucus it would assume ovulation was that very same day and it didn't always pick up on BBT temp shifts very well. Bonus is that FF is much easier to interpret as well.

MrsWilk10 · 20/01/2021 15:52

@DizSquiz im ok. Im a stress head at the best of times so im in overdrive mode with this 😂 how are you doing?

Anyone else ever feel clear ovulation symptoms (for me- lots of EWCM, boots tender, bloating, cramps over the last three days) but getting negative ovulation tests?

cat8986 · 20/01/2021 15:58

Hi @DizSquiz ! I’m very well and excited about my tww. I’ve been loitering on these pages for a while and didn’t want to get involved until I was officially trying, now I can’t keep off here!

My OH and I said the exact same thing about growing up being told how easy it is to get pregnant and you do everything you can to avoid. When we had our first negative pregnancy test, OH suddenly clicked it won’t ‘just happen’ so is investing more into it now.

Just reading back on your other posts in this thread, what’s your cycle length? Are you taking any supplements? Xx

Good! Yeah it's hard to stay off MN now it's become part of my routine 😅

Yeah I'm pretty regular however sometimes I'll be delayed or come sooner, it's a bit odd my avg is about 32 days

Ive started taking folic acid (my god that gave me heartburn for a day and a half, then it settled down) I haven't been taking anything else yet as I've read somewhere that some can supplements can delay ovulation etc so I've stayed away from them for now, how about you? Xx

I'm usually quite laid back but this whole thing has changed me 😂

I haven't had any 😞 not even CM, all I've had was a OPK LH peak xx

@DizSquiz I read the exact same things about supplements affecting your cycle so i now stay away from all that, and just take folic acid and vitamin d as not only does that support TTC, it vital at this time of year during the winter and especially since we can’t go out as much.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you! Xx

PippityChippity · 20/01/2021 16:52

I’ll join too if that’s okay?

This is our 1st cycle TTC after making the decision late in December about trying. Our wedding being postponed was a catalyst - Something to take our minds off of it! Wink

Currently 2DPO - Ovulated on Day 13 and managed to DTD on days 7, 9, 11, 12, 13 and 14 - Having a night off tonight and will probably go to EOD after as it was quite tiring doing 4 days in a row! Had my surge on day 12 so hopefully we have covered our bases with what we’ve done so far. I’ve been using OPKs (Internet cheapies) and Premom to track so far which I’ve found to be fairly reliable. Not doing BBT as often stay up and sleep in late on weekends and work from home too so sleeping pattern isn’t consistent enough (Nor am I disciplined enough to set an alarm every day! OH is a super light sleeper too so not really fair to wake him up).

I came off of the pill in early November (Seemed to be affecting my moods - Has made the world of difference coming off!) and have tracked my cycle ever since - OPKs said I had LH surges in both November (Day 18 so had a bit of a short luteal phase) and December (Day 16 with a nice 13 day LP!) with 27 and 29 days cycles respectively. Wasn’t expecting my cycles to return to normally so quickly as I had been on the pill for about 8 years.

We haven’t told anyone we are trying - We don’t have loads of friends to tell and don’t really want to disclose to family and be faced with loads of questions either so will really appreciate having an outlet here with you ladies! Smile

@DizSquiz I’m good thank you! Finding all of this TTC stuff weirdly fascinating and confusing at the same time! It’s a funny thing as it’s not the kind of stuff that you really want to disclose to anyone but it is SO hard not having anyone else to talk to about it and share the highs and lows. My OH is awesome and really keen and supportive but it’s not the same as having other ladies to talk to so glad I found this thread! Smile

Yeah it's been fun so far, my only concern is I haven't ovulated still even though my LH peak was about 36 hours ago

OP posts:
PippityChippity · 20/01/2021 18:58

@DizSquiz It’s very easy to say but definitely try not to worry too much at this stage - The fact that you’ve had an LH surge is already a good sign Smile it’s not a given but it’s a good indicator that your body is doing what it is meant to, particularly if you are also getting regular periods.

Keep an eye on the next couple of cycles (If you don’t catch this month - Fingers crossed that you do!) and see what they look like and if there is any pattern to when it happens and any symptoms. My ovulation day has varied from day 13-18 over the course of 3 months since I’ve been off of the pill. If it helps, I get next to no ovulation symptoms aside from very minor cramps on one side! That was all I had this month along with a bit more CM but again, certainly not loads! I only tend to get cramps for the first day or two that I have AF too and don’t get sore boobs, mood swings or anything like that. Some people are just more predisposed to symptoms when hormones shift than others I think. No symptoms isn’t necessarily a bad thing from what I’ve read and understood Smile

Keep tracking your cycles and try and stay positive - The fact that you’ve had an LH surge is a good sign.
