First month TTC

Hi ladies,

I’m new to this and would really appreciate your help. This is my first month TTC. I’m currently on CD4 so still middle of my period. Just wondering what helped you all conceive in your first month of trying and any tips you have. I have clearblue OPK ready and have been tracking my cycles for a which vary from 27-34 day cycles with 2 random 45 day cycles one of them being my last cycle.

Anyone else TTC this month?

Thanks in advance x

@Annabelle0852 Oh I’m sorry to hear that. I did exactly the same at 10DPO and now just waiting for AF. It’s not easy!

Kittysw · 14/01/2021 14:26

@glassacorn That link is so helpful. I had no idea on a load of those things.

@Annabelle0852 I did exactly the same this morning. Don't know why I expected anything other than a BFN. I'm annoyed at myself for not just waiting. Grrr! Anyway were not out yet... not until AF arrives which hopefully doesn't for either of us.

greenfrogs1 · 14/01/2021 15:14

Sorry to hear a few of you have had negatives. At least we have this forum to support each other and keep our hopes and positivity up 💕

Just had my pregnancy tests turn up and I kind of wish i didn't have them as now I keep thinking about them sat there in the bathroom cabinet. My OPKs also arrived and I'm looking forward to using them going forward.

Annabelle0852 · 14/01/2021 15:16

@Kittysw and @Dixie1488 I'm glad I'm not alone in the 10DPO madness 🤯 I hope at least one of us gets to say F-U to AF this month!

Good luck ladies!

greenfrogs1 · 14/01/2021 15:17

I know this was mentioned early on in the thread but has anybody bought, or is planning to buy pre-seed?

RadDarwazeh · 14/01/2021 15:25

@greenfrogs1 so I got conceive plus gel. It was cheaper 😂 but I'll review when used.

I also can't stop thinking about my frers sitting in the bathroom drawer...

Dixie1488 · 14/01/2021 15:26

@Annabelle0852 I have had some very light spotting today which for me usually means AF is soon to be on the way! Hopefully AF won’t come for you this month 😊

@greenfrogs1 I bought Conceive+ Fertility Lubricant which i think is very similar. It only arrived today so have not used it and can’t until AF finishes. I bought it because the lube we usually use can apparently hinder sperm mobility? Did not want to take the chance! Gosh this is TMI haha

FieldView · 14/01/2021 15:38

10DPO here too! Fortunately I don't have any kits in the house otherwise I know for sure I'd have caved and tested by now. Definitely don't feel pregnant, I'm sure I'm sure AF will make an appearance next week.

I accidentally ate soft cheese the other day - totally forget you shouldn't eat it if pregnant. I'm saving the rest of it until AF is here 😂

I haven't invested in any lube, but I'd be interested to know how you get on with it. I guess anything that gives the little swimmers a bit of a helping hand can only be a good thing and maybe help boost your chances?!

FieldView · 14/01/2021 15:39

@Dixie1488 how many DPO are you? Could it be implantation?

RadDarwazeh · 14/01/2021 16:04

I love soft cheese. And Stilton. And red wine. 😭 I'll hold off till AF. If she appears. Which I'm hoping she doesn't 🤞

greenfrogs1 · 14/01/2021 16:20

I saw Tesco did some kind of own brand fertility lube as I was doing my online shop, but I had mortifying images going through my head of it right on the top of the shopping pile as the delivery man hands me our shopping 😂

Let me know how the conceive + lube goes ladies

PineappleSun · 14/01/2021 16:24

Aww damn, I just bought a new tub of Philly, curse you tesco and your clubcard deals!
13 dpo here and testing early tomorrow morning, it's going to be a slow evening.

glassacorn · 14/01/2021 16:27

@Annabelle0852 and @Kittysw The urge to test is hard to resist, but I’m keeping fingers crossed for you and for @emilyylouise! And congratulations on the house EL! That’s excellent timing - something to focus on and to build towards.

@RadDarwazeh and @greenfrogs1 I found it useful - a lot to bear in mind!

@FieldView Same as you, interested to know how people get on with the different lubes - hadn’t considered that as a potential help.
Will keep fingers crossed for you - no symptoms but no AF, still in the game!
I think soft cheese is okay if it’s pasteurised or cooked, if that helps! :) I was told that the first few weeks don’t matter so much as no placenta yet - though I think the risk of listeria is low…

glassacorn · 14/01/2021 16:28

Philadelphia is fine - most cream cheeses are pasteurised! :D
FieldView · 14/01/2021 16:38

@glassacorn excellent news! That's today's dinner sorted then 👍🏻

PineappleSun · 14/01/2021 17:13

@glassacorn phew, thanks for that!

@FieldView most certainly Grin

Just had DH ask me for the third time if there's any sign of AF, anyone else got a keen bean partner?

Aubyone · 14/01/2021 17:20

Hello ladies!
I hope you don't mind me joining this when you are well into getting to know each other. I have just read every single post (14 pages!) and found myself a) learning a lot b) feeling increasingly reassured and c) excited that the next page might just include a BFP!

Excited to share the journey with you. I am new to mumsnet and haven't even really worked out how to use the forum/tag!

This is my first proper cycle TTC baby no 1 like you all. Came off pill 12th Dec, had withdrawal bleed and then first proper AF just ending now (so CD6). I tried temperature charting last month but temps were all over the place (I didn't know what I was doing and was getting up at all sorts of different times with Christmas lie ons etc) - we didn't DTD for the whole month as we were staying with my folks so have enjoyed being back home ;) so this will re our first month actually trying.

I have spent a while pretending to myself that I am going to be chilled about it, no OPKs, no charting, no testing - but I've come to think well, that's just not me - not my personality, I am a planner and a worrierer, so why try to fight it. Now have my OPKs from trusty amazon. Looking forward to trying this month once AF goes away - have splashed out (for one month only I'm promising myself) on the clear blue digital OPKs to try and learn when (and if!) I'm ovulating.

Exciting times! Sounds like a couple of people testing this weekend Good luck!

Auby xxxx

Kittysw · 14/01/2021 17:35

@Aubyone Welcome to the group. I joined part way through too and everyone is so supportive and helpful. I am taking the "chilled" approach as far as not temp charting and all of that but the symptom spotting has been a whole other story!

Fingers crossed for some BFP on the next page!! Going to try and hold off testing until Sunday! After testing this morning with a BFN I feel I need to force myself to wait.

Dixie1488 · 14/01/2021 17:49

@FieldView I am 12DPO. Hmm I guess there’s a small chance but AF usually always starts like this for me.

@greenfrogs1 Haha exactly why I bought it online! 😂

Welcome @Aubyone I’m glad you feel reassured :) this group has been so helpful for me.

I am also a worrier and a planner so if AF does come this month I will be using OPKs cycle 2!

Good luck! 😊

PineappleSun · 14/01/2021 17:59

@Aubyone welcome welcome, if you're a planner and worrier, you're in the right place!

FieldView · 14/01/2021 18:03

@Dixie1488 ah well I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!

And welcome @Aubyone! This group has been an absolute lifeline the last couple of weeks. We're all on this journey together figuring out how the hell our bodies work and I've found it super reassuring that I'm not the only one losing my mind over this stuff! Kudos for wading through all 14 pages though!

I too am a worrier and a planner so I totally understand - you can't fight nature, right! 😂

@PineappleSun I'm definitely not married to a keen bean! - I'm very jealous!!! Apart from a brief chat about how he's going to be the fun parent and I'm going to be the Scrooge, we've barely mentioned it since dtd around ovulation... I think he's forgotten 😂

Aubyone · 14/01/2021 18:04

Thanks @dixie1488 and @kittysw Smile

What are you guys doing re alcohol and coffee etc? I had it in my head that post NY I'd just completely cut it out, but now think I will enjoy a drink (or two... Three) at times I know I'm not pregnant (I.e AF). Currently having a beer after a stressful week at work and mid AF!

Decided to take the approach of well, if AF comes then at least I can have a nice glass of wine! Helps with the disappointment.

If I ovulate as roughly expected, I think this month I might ovulate on or around the anniversary of our first date (20th) wouldn't that cool to conceive then - will have to plan a good anniversary night!

RadDarwazeh · 14/01/2021 18:30

I wonder if there are any good alcohol free beers or wines? I love me a soothing glass of red!
I've tried to cut coffee down to one a day. Which is working so far!

I've decided if I get AF this month I'll start tracking my ovulation. Got a fancy clearblue one as well. Hope it works!

Hugs to all! Hope everyone has a nice dinner planned.

Eaststreet · 14/01/2021 18:43

@PineappleSun not me! I thought my DP had forgot about it . He’s mentioned a holiday in September (that was meant to be our honeymoon) several times and how much he’s looking forward to it already. Clearly hasn’t clocked that I’ll hopefully be pregnant then and we’ll be cancelling😂. He did say ‘do you think it’s happened yet’ last night though so I guess that’s something!

@RadDarwazeh I’m also trying to cut down on the coffee I’m down to 2 a day. Hoping to get it down to 1 from next week. It’s going to be potentially harder than cutting out alcohol for me!

Jellington · 14/01/2021 18:56

So I've got 2 kids and am pregnant again. The first- pregnant first month. The second- took 6 months including a miscarriage. The third- pregnant first month. So... with hindsight I can say that I was not emotionally or physically in a good place when we were trying for DC2. I was very stressed and my diet was not the best. I got pregnant with him the month after handing in my notice at my job, changing my diet and making an effort to do regular yoga. So... from my perspective, make sure you are in a good place. I used OPKs with DC1 (clear blue). I did use OPKs for DC2, clear blue to start with then cheapies. Got pregnant while using the amazon cheapies.
