Thread 2!
Will try to tag everyone who was active recently in the old thread, but sorry if I missed anyone. And if you're one of the many who got BFPs in the old thread and you're currently wading through the dark depths of morning sickness, feel free to ignore us 😊

@LAgeDeRaisin I use Fertility Friend - it's definitely got the clearest charts of any of the apps I've seen. It's free. I don't bother with OPKs because we DTD all the time anyway so they're just a pointless stress to me, but I do like temping. I like knowing I've definitely O'd that month, which you can't know from OPKs. I also just find it the temps chart really fascinating!
Have you got a thermometer with two decimal places?

OP posts:
LAgeDeRaisin · 29/01/2021 13:12

I do- I might start next month with temping

unCliche · 29/01/2021 17:17

@LAgeDeRaisin I second FF. And as HerringGull said, the charts are very clear and easy to understand.
Maybe your mittelschmerz on CD12 is in preparation of ovulation and you actually ovulate a few days later? Either way, temping is the best way to confirm that 😁

Ladies, I got my +ve OPK today. Had to self inseminate last night as DH and I got food poisoning 😂 but we'll DTD proper tomorrow! Then TWW #5 yay...! 😂

HerringGull · 29/01/2021 17:38

Oh no @unCliche how'd you manage that? Mouldy cooking or was it takeaway?! 🤢 Good news on getting your peak though!

OP posts:
unCliche · 29/01/2021 18:16

Must have been a quick peak as OPK is going -ve again. I'll test again tonight and tomorrow just to make sure. I'm also a bit sore on the left so something is definitely happening in there!

@HerringGull I think we got poisoned by some feta cheese. It hadn't gone off but something must not have been right for both of us to feel so unwell 🤮 Worst thing is, we were out shopping for food when the rumbling started and I knew I wouldn't make it back home in time so had to detour to the nearest public toilets 🙈

How are you getting on? Any symptoms yet?

HerringGull · 29/01/2021 18:57

@unCliche Oh unlucky! 🙈 But at least supermarket humiliation avoided! Wouldn't have thought of feta as dangerous unless it was pink. I find it smells nasty after two or three days; sometimes I wash it in water and then it smells okay again 😁 Maybe I'm tempting fate, and a supermarket moment of my own!

Well I got a BFP this morning. In a bit of shock. I am glad it's happened, but tbh it's more of a relief than anything else. Also feeling very sad. I didn't say anything on this thread before, but my first child was born prematurely and didn't survive, so it's reminding us of her a lot. It's also quite difficult to get excited about a pregnancy when the last one ended so badly. So think it will take a while to sort all those feelings out.

I'm really aware how hard it is when others get BFPs and you don't have yours yet. So just wanted to say that I'm thinking of you lots, @unCliche, @Pudding01 and @LeAgeDeRaisin xxx

Pudding01 · 31/01/2021 15:46

Aww congratulations @HerringGull! So shoot for you. So sorry to hear about your loss 💔 Can definitely understand the anxiety. Hope you have a healthy pregnancy and you get to hold your rainbow baby.
You're so nice thinking about us still trying in your happy moment, thank you.

Just waiting for my ovulation now. Doing tests again. Considering temps but not sure.

Good luck in your tww @unCliche! Let's hope it's the one xx

unCliche · 31/01/2021 16:21

@HerringGull Yessssss!! Such fantastic news! Really pleased for you. It's such a shame what happened the first time but I know all will work out well with this pregnancy. You've been so kind and wonderful, we can only be happy for you! How are your temps? They must be sky high!

Don't worry about us! Our time will come, whichever way possible!

@Pudding01 thanks lovely but I'm not holding my breath. Hopefully your cycle has settled down now and things are progressing as normal?

HerringGull · 31/01/2021 16:31

Thank you both, @Pudding01 and @unCliche. I've been blown away by the loveliness of people on this thread. You've all been so supportive and kind - thank you so much.
Yes, my temps are still high. This cycle was a much better looking chart than the previous two, without any of the crazy spikes. I'm wondering if my hormones have been a bit wild and were preventing implantation. It's possible with the PCOS I guess, but will never know.

Hope for O soon, Pudding!
What dpo do you think you are unCliche?

@HerringGull 💕💕💕 Currently 1DPO, so I've officially entered another TWW 😆This one came around quite quickly, now I'm just expecting AF (or BFP?) on Valentine's day. How's your DH feeling about it all?

HerringGull · 31/01/2021 17:15

@unCliche that would be an amazing valentine's present! 😍 Fingers crossed!
DH is feeling much like me, both happy and sad. I'm really glad we looked at the test together as it was hard. I can't recommend this enough for helping make the test results easier to bear, whatever they are. Although, it would be great if you could wrap up the test and give it to him on valentine's day!!

OP posts:
Cc7750 · 31/01/2021 17:42

@HerringGull yay 👏🏼👏🏼! But also so sad about before and obvs it will bring up a ton of feelings, memories 😔 and what a tough thing to go through x

Everyone else WILL get their BFP is just a case of when 🙂

My symptoms are easing off now, was worrying but actually nearly 11 weeks and about the right time to ease off. Hopefully won’t be yawning by midday anymore

unCliche · 31/01/2021 17:42

@HerringGull that's really sweet. I've never shared looking at a test with DH before. I don't think it'll make much difference to my disappointment 😂 I definitely get how bittersweet it must feel right now so it's lovely you and your DH can support each other that way. You'll have to come back now and again to let us know how you're getting on. Hopefully the rest of us will have good news to share with you too. I'm hoping we won't have to go down the fertility treatment route either🤞

HerringGull · 31/01/2021 18:10

@Cc7750 glad you are feeling better! Sure everything's fine, 11 weeks sounds normal ☺️

@unCliche I think it's not less disappointing, but I just feel less lonely in the disappointment when he's there.
I'll be quieter on this thread, but will definitely pop in now and again and see when you get your BFPs ❤️
I meant to ask, how are things going with your new house?

OP posts:
unCliche · 31/01/2021 18:26

@HerringGull that's understandable. It's definitely hard when the BFP ladies share how terrible their feeling while the rest of us look on in envy 😅 when's your due date?

Things with the house are OK, we've given notice for our current rental and are hoping we'll have completed before our tenancy ends! Just waiting for searches to be returned then I think a date can be finalised.

HerringGull · 31/01/2021 18:42

@unCliche that's great! I've no idea what searches are, but am glad it's all working out. A new house is so exciting!
I know exactly what you mean re BFPs. You feel genuinely pleased for the other person but at the same time it rubs it in a bit. It's a hard balance right enough.
xx

OP posts:
unCliche · 31/01/2021 18:56

Haha oh yeah, @HerringGull the house buying process is probably a little different in Scotland. I don't know what they are either but apparently they need to be done 😂 I think the distraction of a new house will be so welcome. I'm tired of being bored with nothing else to think about but TTC. The sooner covid is over the better I'll feel. What are the current pregnancy scan restrictions like in Scotland? Can your DH go in with you?

HerringGull · 31/01/2021 19:23

@unCliche och no idea! We'll find out when it comes to it I guess. Seems a long way away at the moment!
I think a house move will definitely fill the role for keeping you occupied! So much deciding what goes where, and what to change, and decorating 😁 Will you have spare money for changes or is the house pretty much as you want it anyway?

OP posts:
unCliche · 31/01/2021 20:04

Hopefully he is allowed in with you, but there are always private scans if not @HerringGull!
The house is pretty much liveable as it is but we'll definitely start making changes little by little. First painting! Then maybe having under stairs storage built. Changing light fittings, etc. basically minuscule things like that. I'm still not decided which rooms will belong to what but I'll need to decide before we start building beds and other furniture! How's your house build coming along?

HerringGull · 31/01/2021 20:20

@unCliche that's definitely the way to do it, bit by bit. You never know you might think of better ideas once you've been living in the house for a bit anyway.
Ours is going okay... Still haven't started obviously, ha! But have building warrant now so we'll soon be cracking out the digger 😁

OP posts:
unCliche · 01/02/2021 09:36

@HerringGull and you'll be doing the digging yourselves??

HerringGull · 01/02/2021 10:01

Yeah that's the idea. Any 'grunt work' is ours to do! We can't afford to build it unless we do the vast majority of the work, so we'll only be getting tradespeople in for the really skilled stuff. It will obviously take us loads longer than if we hired someone to do the digging, but it will be free except for fuel so we can't NOT do it really. Luckily DH is good at machines - one of those people! I had a shot on a digger once, and let's just say it was entertaining but I won't be going anywhere near our house with one! Grin Grin Grin

OP posts:
unCliche · 01/02/2021 10:46

Oh wooow! @HerringGull talk about talented! That's a big task. I'd be too nervous swinging the digger round and demolishing everything I painstakingly built 😂 I'm guessing you both have had practice anyway. Do you watch a lot of YouTube videos to learn how to do it? I wanted to build a deck in the garden of the house we buy by myself and I've watched hours and hours of videos. I consider myself an expert now 😉

HerringGull · 01/02/2021 10:52

@unCliche Yes go for it! That's the greatest thing about it being your own - if one end is a bit kooky who cares! Doesn't really apply to foundations unfortunately, so if we have trouble we'll have to get a pro in to finish.
Sure you will make lovely decking. In a way it's so nice doing your own stuff, as if you think of a clever idea half way through you can tweak it slightly! Youtube is absolute fab; it's so empowering if you're up for trying stuff. And assuming you're happy to learn from your errors... Grin
