Anyone TTC #2?

mamaatthegym · 26/11/2020 22:29

Lots of threads about TTC baby #1 so looking for someone baby #2 support!

If so how old is your current DC and what made you realise it was the right time?

DD has just turned 1 and we are thinking about #2 very soon! DD took 14 months to conceive so I’m prepared for another long slog...although a bit panicky that it could happen sooner! Am also still shifting some baby weight that clung on nicely during both lockdowns Wink

Anyone else?

How's everyone getting on? 5dpo today and been a bit crampy, hoping that's a sign but still mega early really!

May2311 · 06/03/2021 13:51

@TheWhalesOnTheBus it's so slow the TWW isn't it!! I vaguely remember a Stitch like feeling about 7DPO last time and when I got BFP I was sure it was implantation.

I'm due to starting testing tomorrow for my fertile window- feeling positive but probably because it's first month 🙄 xxx

TheWhalesOnTheBus · 06/03/2021 14:19

So so slow! Every day I wake up and think what dpo I am - HmmI definitely need to get a grip.
That's exciting you're coming up to the fertile period, are you using the clear blue opk?
I remember being crampy with my first pregnancy but not until a few days before I got my bfp so it's probably all in my mind

Mybobowler · 06/03/2021 14:26

Oooh fingers crossed for you @TheWhalesOnTheBus and I hope the next week or so goes quickly! And I hope you get a positive OPK soon @May2311 this is the fun bit!

I'm CD1 again. Been a bit weepy today, I'm just so disappointed. Really thought it would happen this month (daft, I know). I've started taking agnus castus again this morning. I was taking it for PMS when we almost miraculously conceived DD, and apparently it's good for fertility, so worth a shot?! I had suggested to DP that we take a break to avoid a Christmas baby but I've changed my mind - at this point, I just want to be pregnant, regardless of due date!

May2311 · 06/03/2021 14:32

@Mybobowler look at this as a fresh start!! Tbh I think your doing the right thing as even if you took a break and fell next month you could still end up with crimbo baby if it's early!! Or you could have fallen last month and baby was late so ended up with one. My friend was due 11th Jan this year and ended up having baby early on 26th Dec!! Have some wine tonight and a nice chill and look forward to that fertile window again 🤭😉 Xxx

May2311 · 06/03/2021 14:33

@TheWhalesOnTheBus yep the clearblue ones. I am quite confident I know my cycles as I am fairly regularly but it will be interesting to see if I am right with ovulation etc! When would you be due to test/AF? X

DinkyGT · 06/03/2021 14:42

We have decided to try for #2 after a few years of me thinking I was happy with one!

This is our first month TTC and fertile window this month starts on 11th! I'm due on my period as we speak but no sign yet - although I think last month we just missed ovulation so I'm not expecting a positive yet.

Our DD is 5 so quite a big gap but she will be the best big sister Halo. I'm 35 currently as well so I'm hoping it won't prove too difficult to conceive this time xx

noname55 · 06/03/2021 15:18

I'm out now. So disappointed. The good thing is my spotting before AF isn't as bad as it used to be since taking b complex. I'm considered asking OH if we can just keep trying and not take a break as he doesn't want a Christmas baby but I can't decide. If we end up due in January, they could be born in December anyway.

May2311 · 06/03/2021 18:14

@DinkyGT welcome! Aw how lovely- what made you decide you wanted another?

@noname55 I'm sorry 😔😔 at least the spotting isn't as bad now!! Do you know around about when your next Ov will be due to work our due date? Were you late or early for first? I was early so even though I know it's not a given if I fell this month due date would be early December so it's actually more next month I'm more likely to get a Christmas baby if I fell ( if that makes sense 🤣)

We actually just had a giggle to ourselves as we have been talking about starting to try this month constantly then just realised my hubby is actually away with work when I think I'm ovulating 🙈🙈🙈 So unless It's a total different time this defo won't work for us!! X

Mybobowler · 06/03/2021 18:40

@noname55 I'm so sorry to see you're out too. Sending some solidarity!

@May2311 makes a good point about stopping to avoid a Christmas baby - a December due date doesn't necessarily mean a December baby. My DD was 5 weeks prem so if she'd had a Christmas due date she'd have arrived in November! The other reason we've decided not to take a break is because if there's a reason why it's not happening, the sooner I can get tests and stuff done, the better!

I am going to stop temping for a bit though. Obsessing over my charts is driving me a bit loopy.

noname55 · 06/03/2021 18:45

I'm sure it would be about the 10th of December but my first was 2 weeks late!

dunkedbiscuit · 06/03/2021 19:56

We’ve been debating December due dates too, if we are lucky enough to fall this month then I think I’d be due early Dec but would likely need to have a scheduled section which I think they normally do at 39 weeks? So would actually end up being end of November. I’m more worried about next month as that would end up being around Christmas week and I’d hate to be in hospital away from DS at Christmas! But in the grand scheme of things I guess he wouldn’t really remember and would get spoilt rotten by everyone else.

DinkyGT · 06/03/2021 20:05

@May2311 thank you! I'm not really sure what made me decide - I just saw so many people around me having babies all of a sudden and my DD keeps asking for a brother or sister and when I thought about it, it made me sad to think she would be alone growing up! DP has always wanted another so I knew he would be game - although he is now saying about not wanting a December baby! I'm too impatient to wait though Hmm

Rockape1992 · 06/03/2021 20:27

Hi everyone can I join please? Ttc #2, this month will be cycle number 7. DS1 was conceived in one night so it’s been quite a shock to still be waiting this time round and to be honest, I’m not dealing with it too well. Anyone got any advice for managing the disappointment and worry? I’ve just turned 35, OH is 38. Have had initial bloods and looks like I’m ovulating (although some months better than others) and had hysteroscopy last August to remove polyp. DH thinks I just need to be patient and stop stressing but I’m starting to worry it will never happen! Am I just being ridiculous?

TheWhalesOnTheBus · 07/03/2021 09:16

Welcome @Rockape1992 hope you don't have to wait too much longer for a bfp. We were the same with DC1 so not sure how I'll cope if this takes a long time.
I don't have any advice sorry, but it's very easy for someone to say not to stress, but to actually not stress is very hard!

TheWhalesOnTheBus · 07/03/2021 09:19

Sorry you're out @Mybobowler @noname55 I hadn't even thought about December due dates - to be honest I think that's better than a January due date. We won't skip cycles to miss those birthdays but understand why people do.
@May2311 I got my bfp at 9DPO last time but I know that's early, so will try to hold out until 11dpo which is Friday. In my head I think it could be great to test Mother's Day (if it's positive) if it's negative it'll be a downer so not going to do that.

TheWhalesOnTheBus · 07/03/2021 09:20

Welcome @DinkyGT hope you don't have to wait too long for a bfp!

Mybobowler · 07/03/2021 09:33

Welcome @DinkyGT and @Rockape1992 this is a lovely thread, certainly helping to keep me company on the TTC rollercoaster!

I think there are a few of us now who conceived our first DC with minimal effort and who are now a bit bewildered that #2 is taking a little while. I'm definitely in that boat!

I feel a bit daft for even considering delaying to avoid Christmas - I'm just so desperate to be pregnant. Fingers crossed the agnus castus makes the difference this month. Worth a go!

Does anyone else have insanely heavy periods? It's such an insult to injury that I have to chase the crushing disappointment of another BFN with feeling like I'm bleeding to death 😂

Cantthinkofaname99 · 07/03/2021 10:48

Welcome @DinkyGT and @Rockape1992

@Rockape1992 I'm in a similar situation with how long it's taking, I can't really give any advice on managing the disappointment though. I'll be 35 this year too. When did you talk to the doctors, was it once you were 35 they would do tests and stuff? I read that if you are under 35 you have to have been TTC for a year.

Just catching up as I didn't come on yesterday AF was making me feel down - hormones messing me around.

Just sorting out gifts for my friends baby shower which isn't helping, don't get me wrong I'm really happy for them as they have been trying for ages but there is that little bit of disappointment in the back of my head as I want to be going through it all with her. Also hearing all her pregnancy bits keeps reminding me of things, and I would love to be going through it again. We haven't told anyone we are trying for #2, prefer to keep it to ourselves.

Trying to think about the next cycle now, so I'm taking pregnacare and tracking ovulation, any other ideas what to try this cycle? Not sure if I should be getting some vitamins for OH to take, not sure how well he would remember!!

DinkyGT · 07/03/2021 11:11

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!Smile
AF is playing games with me this cycle I think ... usually only have some spotting a day or two max before AF arrives but I'm on day three now of just seeing some light pink when I wipe after going to the loo (sorry if TMI). My cycles are usually bang on 28-29 days each month and always regular. We did start trying this cycle on CD14 (coincidentally) but when I reviewed previous cycles I realised I usually seem to ovulate quite early - CD11-13 so wasn't sure if we would have got there in time...wasn't able to track temps properly this month due to not deciding to go for it until two weeks into the month! 😂
I've had some nausea but that's not unusual for me- and only some slight breast tenderness. All the same it's driving me mad waiting and wondering!! With AF I usually have PMT and cramping and mood swings galore but not feeling that at the moment ... we shall see! Xx

Rockape1992 · 07/03/2021 11:37

Thanks for the welcome everyone, it’s nice to know we’re not the only ones in this limbo although obviously I hope we all have a change in luck very soon. I find everyone tells me just to relax but if someone could actually tell me how to stop obsessing, I gladly would! 🙈

@Cantthinkofaname99 we don’t live in the UK and so all of our healthcare is private. I was seeing an ob/gyn before we started ttc due to my ridiculously heavy periods post DS1 and I had a polyp removed in the hope it would help - it didn’t. We were really lucky in that when I mentioned ttc number 2, she offered to do all my blood work etc straight away rather than having to wait. So I have had an internal scan and ovaries etc all look fine (as much as they can tell from a scan anyway) I had my day 3 blood tests (all good apparently) and I have also been seeing her for the past four months for day 21 progesterone tests of which 2/4 have been 40 plus - the other two were just under 30 so borderline but she thinks we may have got the days slightly wrong on those occasions due to my slightly erratic cycles. She’s offered to put me on 3 months of clomid to see if that helps regulate me - I get a lot of spotting throughout my cycle, not just in the run up to AF, and my cycles can vary by length and duration by a few days here and there so she thought it wouldn’t hurt. That said, I’m slightly worried it may be too soon to be going down that path but I just want to get pregnant so badly now, I’ll try anything!

I’m not complaining as I know how lucky we were to conceive so quickly the first time round but I feel as though that’s given me an expectation this time round which has clearly not been fulfilled and so it’s really hard to manage my anxiety about it.

Rockape1992 · 07/03/2021 11:40

Oh and keeping everything crossed for you @DinkyGT 🤞🤞🤞

May2311 · 07/03/2021 13:32

Welcome all the newbies!

Ooo we have got busy busy on here the last 24hours so sorry if I miss a response to anyone!

@Cantthinkofaname99 my hubby takes the well man ones - just started when I started pregnacare. We take them after dinner so I remind him 🤣🤣

@Mybobowler it is like our bodies like to be cruel!! Mine we extremely heavy the first 4-6 months PP but last few have been ok( although now I've said that I bet my next one is terrible!!) I suffer with headaches/sickness now though which I never did previously. Although saying that I was on the pill for 14 years beforehand!! Perhaps have a chat with GP to see if they can help at all?

XXX

DinkyGT · 07/03/2021 21:07

I'm pretty sure I'm out now...😕
Things are still not quite as they'd usually be with AF but I'm guessing it's just an 'off' cycle...

Thinking ahead and hoping for better things this cycle!

Sending love and luck to all of you waiting on a new cycle xxx
