In the meantime ~ sprinkling it with pink and blue baby pixie dust

and splashing with baby glue so lo's stick around forever ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hi Lily, I'm in a similar situation to you. I have had 3 first trimester m/c all measuring younger than they should've been. I've got a 3yr old ds and desperate for a sibling for him. So sorry to hear of your m/cs. You're not old - you're 5 years younger than me!

ClairePO · 22/10/2007 21:52

Hello everyone and a sad to see you welcome to Lily and Mich so sorry you have had to join us.

Rosy looking forward to seeing puppy pics

TJuice congrats!! I hadn't seen your news, its wonderful

Glad that they gave you the OK to get TTC again grinningbee, also so good that they will scan you early. Do most places do that?

Well my AF has stopped already so only a few days of normal flow. I don't know why but I assumed it would be heavier. Ho hum.

RosyBelle · 22/10/2007 21:56

Claire - glad your AF is stopping... am kind of expecting a heavy one too. Did you have Erpc? I had erpc on 25th Spet so am guessing AF should be arriving any minute. Or then again....

Lilypink · 22/10/2007 21:57

Oh Rosybelle what alot you have been thro, thank god for your DD you must really cherish her. Lets hope that, as your Dr so kindly put it the 'fluke' happens again...?

Its so mad that mc is more likely when trying for a 2nd DC. I have also heard of infertility for 2nd time round aswell. Luckily we seem to be ok on that front so far - but I worry that mc can cause infertility?

Anyway where are those cakes?? Thats my main reason for joining this thread

ladylush · 22/10/2007 21:59

Hmm, trouble is post m/c alcohol seems like a much better idea than cake

RosyBelle · 22/10/2007 22:00

Yes Lily really cherish her.. just bought a puppy to keep me too busy to think about babies!! Mc should not cause infertility.

Yes I need cake!! Grinningbee usually taunts us with donuts

07mumstheword · 22/10/2007 22:02

Rosybelle, I didn't know your story what a lot you and DH have had to deal with. I hope you get another "fluke"

ClairePO - I asked my GP last wk if I could have an early scan due to my recent problems and she said "as a general rule they don't like to scan early if no problems i.e bleeding and to leave well alone". It probably depends on your area and what is the general rule there. I'm not happy with my answer and when (notice I'm being positive) I get PG again and get passed at least 6 wks I'm going to Bupa for £99.00 for a scan! I know it's expensive but there is no way I can wait 12 or even 20 weeks as she may not even give me a dating scan!

ClairePO · 22/10/2007 22:02

I've got some choccie cupcakes just here Lily, help yourself, have two, or even 3

Rosy I didn't have an erpc, it just all happened naturally, the bleeding stopped around 25 Sept, the scan that confirmed the baby had stopped developing (4 weeks earlier) was 18 Sept. I read on some link that someone posted that AF is expected 4 weeks after hormone levels go back to normal.

07mumstheword · 22/10/2007 22:04

Just to clarify I'm not going for a scan at 6 wks I'm booking it to go 8 - 10. I know I have to be a little patient.

Lilypink · 22/10/2007 22:04

Now I am liking the idea of alcohol...sod cakes I can have wine, beer, pimms even vodka? ... now have I got any lemonade and cucumber to go with the pimms...?

ClairePO · 22/10/2007 22:06

07MTW I assumed we'd need to pay for a private scan too but hadn't researched how much, I had thought of just asking doc for a referral. We were going to get a referral for the nuchal scan and tests and he said that was £150 so I assumed just a scan would be around £100 - £150. I'll look into the BUPA thing WHEN (me also being positive ) I get my BFP.

Ta for the info!

Lilypink · 22/10/2007 22:11

Soory ClairePO must have messaged at the same time - I will have one of your choccy cakes too! It took me 6 weeks to get AF after 'natural' mc. It seemed like forever. I am still to wait to actually mc this time. Have been spotting since thurs, but last time I spotted for about 3 or 4 weeks before anything happened.

I can't believe either that some areas don't offer early scans for women who have had bad experiences in the past. My EPU do it as matter of course if you have previous history of mc

RosyBelle · 22/10/2007 22:12

Lily - Pimms sounds posh - I am sitting here with a large can of Carlsberg lager... would rather have pimms!!

Claire - I think I ovulated around 2 wks ago (had ewcm) so think it may come soon... but it took 6 weeks to arrive after last erpc as they "clean you out" Are you TTC now AF has been and gone??

07mumstheword · 22/10/2007 22:13

Yeah I just phoned Bupa and they said the basic scan is £99.00. I think there is one further down the line that maybe more expensive but well worth looking into.

RosyBelle · 22/10/2007 22:15

07 & Claire - Bupa is £99 here too but there is a private clinic that do them for £60 so def worth a search of local clinics.

Lilypink · 22/10/2007 22:15

Rosybelle - can of lager? Here, bring your glass over and I will fill it up with pimms, lemonade, cucumber, mint and a strawberry floating on the top!

07mumstheword · 22/10/2007 22:17

claire Just a tip I heard. If you tell doctor you don't know your cycle dates and they have all been a bit in the air (a complete lie for most of us MN's) they will probably send you for a dating scan on the NHS at around 12 wks. My DD wasn't planned and I didn't know ANYTHING back then and I was referred for a dating scan so I thought it was normal but apparently not!

RosyBelle · 22/10/2007 22:23

lily - thanks hun.. its delicious - am pis*ed already... always was a cheap date!
Goodnight girls
x

Lilypink · 22/10/2007 22:23

Are you saying that in some areas they don't even offer a 12 week scan? You have to wait for the 20 week?

07mumstheword · 22/10/2007 22:25

Yep! They'll only offer a 12 wk scan here if you don't know your dates otherwise you have to wait a massive 20 wks! That's why I just had to investigate other options!

ClairePO · 22/10/2007 22:30

Rosy yes we are trying, I wasn't trying with pg we lost so have never taken notice of my fertility signs before so its all new to me. Am charting temp and have some LH sticks - when should I start using them does everyone think? I wondered at maybe 7 days?

I would have had a scan at 12 weeks here, but they don't do the nuchal so we were going to get that done. I'm not sure what they offer for people who have m/c - never thought to ask, all I can do is ask the doc if he will refer me for an extra scan earlier, claim is stressing me out thinking it will happen again etc. If not will pay for one at somewhere between 6 - 8 weeks. Baby stopped developing at 5 weeks with mc.

ClairePO · 22/10/2007 22:30

Waiting for a 20 week scan is ridiculous just so wrong it makes me

Lilypink · 22/10/2007 22:30

I am really shocked . No wonder you are discussing where to get private scans. In my area you get a 12 week and 20 week and if you have bleeding or previous mc they give you a 7 week scan without any questions and then another one after 2 weeks.

I have heard (rumour)that if you speak really nicely to the sonographer they turn on the 4D. I suggest you all popped down/up to suffolk, we are scan mad here!

ClairePO · 22/10/2007 22:35

ooh Lily we're going to suffolk at the weekend! SO looking forward to it as we were on holiday when we had mc so it was a bit of a crappy holiday obviously, so this is a break to cheer us up.

We're staying here www.grove-cottages.co.uk/cissys.htm

Mind you not that I'm expecting them to give me a scan LOL just lots of BD

Lilypink · 22/10/2007 22:43

What a coincidence I was only in Aldeburgh yesterday to try and cheer myself up as I knew that this pg had gone wrong. Its so lovely round there you will have a really relaxing break. The pralines and cream icecream from the parlour in the high street def made me feel a bit better. Your cottage look fab.
