@TheNewMrsW okay twice a day doesn’t sound so daunting :) Will do abit more reading about oh surge etc :) going to get that book and get onto it!

Have restarted weekly weigh ins and have worked out by nov I will be fully at target weight so the break to reassess - track and just try and naturally DTD abit more makes more sense than ‘ ntnp’ now thinking just use this time to prepare to ttc :)

Oh no what a nightmare with af! Really hope she makes her appearance soon for you- so frustrating isn’t it- they can say events can change your cycle so I’m sure it’s just a blip and will return to normal after :) hopefully she appears soon :)

butterfly5291 · 11/09/2020 10:00

@mackjm20 I'm actively TTC now and been using BBT and OPKs and also tried my sister's old CB fertility monitor last month.
What @TheNewMrsW said is correct. I tend to wake up a little later than usual at the weekend and use this website to adjust my temp:
www.whenmybaby.com/basalbodytemperature.php
I also use femometer OPKs. As you have no idea when you ovulate you could start using them when AF is finished...likely be no line to start with though so don't worry. I use a little Tupperware pot to catch wee and then dip...so much easier than trying to do it mid flow and you can't get it too wet. Once you open the pack it's not that hard to work out.
I would test once a day until you start to see a darker line then test a few times a day to try to catch your peak. They say not to drink for two hours to make sure you're wee isn't really diluted.
If you decide to hold off till Nov to actively TTC why not use next month bas practice with bbt and OPKs you should get a more concise window of when to focus on DTD. Oh and use fertility friend to track BBT but femometer app to read OPKs. Good luck!

IAmFourEels · 11/09/2020 10:14

I use a plastic shot glass to catch the wee for my OPKs!

I like to imagine that in a film of my life they will use this as a symbol to represent the difference between my 20s and 30s - tequila vs urine, one night stands vs TTC Grin

mackjm20 · 11/09/2020 10:43

@butterfly5291 thank you :) apps downloaded :) will start tracking at the end of sept straight after this af :) thanks so much for the guidance that’s so useful! Think it will just help to settle my mind to know exactly what’s going on :)

@IAmFourEels that is hilarious! And such a good contrast :) I have some plastic shot
Glasses in the garage so will be getting those in lol! :)

jessicalauren10 · 11/09/2020 10:57

Hello! Hope I'm not too late to join!
I'll be TTC as soon as AF arrives and I can start tracking properly. I had my implant out two weeks ago and am patiently waiting, I've never wanted it to come so much (although I know it'll be a different story next month)!
This will be #1 for myself and my partner, I'm 29 and he's 36. Nervous for the journey ahead!
I've started tracking my BBT and got some cheap ovulation strips so I can get used to doing it and try to figure out my cycle.
Happy to have somewhere to come for support!

mackjm20 · 11/09/2020 11:24

@jessicalauren10 welcome :) so exciting! Same for me 29 and will be #1 dh is 33 next week :) it’s a great group here for voicing any concerns and queries :) and to stop from going mad haha! Or driving oh’s mad lol x

TheNewMrsW · 11/09/2020 11:30

Welcome @jessicalauren10 !

Speaking of driving DH's mad I might have to dial back on the info I'm relaying to mine as he was in a right tizzy yesterday stressing about us being healthy and wanting everything to go well 😂

mackjm20 · 11/09/2020 11:42

@TheNewMrsW that’s so lovely that he is actually wanting to get healthy though :) maybe not to the point of being in a tizzy but so good that he cares :) I swear we are all going to be the healthiest bunch lol! I’m sure none of my friends who have babies did any of this haha x

queenatom · 11/09/2020 12:58

Hi everyone - wow, missed a lot here! In the TWW (6DPO) so been trying to keep my mind off things TTC. Been swamped at work which has been a great distraction! Still taking what feels like 600 vitamins/supplements a day and I’ve been trying to cut back on the booze (mostly successfully) and caffeine (...less success) whilst I’m waiting. Even if I’m not pregnant, I’d love to get my luteal phase into the double digits, so hopefully that’ll happen this cycle!

@Lollipop87 congratulations on the house, fingers crossed yours sells soon!

@gems05 Sorry to hear you’re not well, are you feeling any better today?

@TheNewMrsW Argh, that’s so frustrating! Hope AF arrives soon and you can put the fertility monitor to good use!

sunflowersaremyfav93 · 11/09/2020 13:18

@TheNewMrsW I'm with you! My bf thinks I'm obsessing over TTC.. he's not wrong but he doesn't need to know that.. some vitamins cane for him yesterday and he's like I'm fine I don't need to take them. So so frustrating!

I've had a busy week with work this week so haven't had as much time to think about babies but that usuall means it ends up consuming my mind at the weekend.

@kittyt30 how are you doing? You must be a few weeks along now, hope all is well.

bubblybrit · 11/09/2020 14:04

My vitamins and opks arrived this morning....yay! Feels a little more real now although I fully expect to have to wait a few months until my cycle settles down before we can TTC properly! Would be lovely if I caught before all the madness of tracking happened but probably unlikely as took 6 months of dedicated DTD to conceive DD 😀

mackjm20 · 11/09/2020 14:57

@queenatom how are you finding the tww? Atleast work has been a good distraction :) fingers crossed for the longer luteal phase :)

@sunflowersaremyfav93 my dh is the same thinks that the health side only apples to me! He is not keen on taking anything just yet :(

@bubblybrit that’s exciting that they have arrived! I’ve just had notification that mine will be arriving tomorrow. Already taking folic but have ordered vitamin d to start now too :) fingers crossed that’s so exciting though :) remind me when it is that you are planning to start ttc?

Hope everyone is having a nice day! Thank god it’s Friday! Although my normal wine evening not happening is a tad depressing lol! X

florencesthoughts · 11/09/2020 15:11

Hello

I am NTNP (just learnt what this meant) and trying to go with the flow, even if I do look on my app for fertility window, not sure it's accurate though! Came off Cerazette pill in July, now on second period and start taking folic acid about 3 weeks ago. I have been waiting for a Colposcopy appt result until I felt comfortable with the whole NTNP and results came back fine. I've seen lots of threads about pregnancy tests and wondered if anyone knows why some show up as positive and some negative? I.e clear blue versus a supermarket brand one. Wondering whether it's worth buying a few to have in the house to save multiple trips to supermarket? Ha probably just me getting over excited again.

Wishing everyone lots of luck in their journeys.

bubblybrit · 11/09/2020 15:12

@mackjm20. Yes it’s very exciting. DH and I only decided to try for number 2 last weekend so I fully appreciate that it will be a few months until my cycles regulate after being on the pill. We said that we would try properly in the new year but we aren’t using any form of contraception currently as happy if I fell pregnant before then. So really need to get cracking with the folic acid! Oh not long for you either....will be a good start to the weekend! I know you mentioned opks earlier...have you tried clearblue? I used them with DD and they are pricey but I liked that they told you high and peak fertility days rather than trying to work it out depending on the darkness of the line.

bubblybrit · 11/09/2020 15:17

Hello @florencesthoughts. Some tests are more sensitive than others and require less of the hormone in order to show a positive result....the best I have found is the FRER (first response early result). Possibly more expensive than some but pretty early detection rate. CB needs a higher level of hormone so never found them great if you are an early tester!

florencesthoughts · 11/09/2020 15:24

Very helpful! Thank you very much. When it's time to test I will be buying those x
bubblybrit · 11/09/2020 15:32

@florencesthoughts. You are welcome. CB are also notorious for false positives especially if testing early. Got my hopes up so many times before I changed to FRER!

Hi everyone I haven't been on in a while. Back to work and I'm really feeling symptoms. Started at week 6, feeling tired, nausea and not sleeping great. Having a nap after work for 20mins everyday but most of the time wake up feeling worse. Haven't actually vomited but feeling queasy all day.

Living on orange juice, toast and crisps. Always have ginger nuts biscuits with me at all times. Getting hungry but sick feeling alot.

7 weeks tomorrow so the morning sickness (all day sickness) hit early enough.

First scan next week, so looking forward to that.

Hope everyone ttc journey is going well, keep going!!

Mommabear20 · 11/09/2020 15:59

Does anyone have any recommendations for losing baby weight?
DD is 11 weeks old and hoping to start TTC in around 2.5 months (as previously stated we really want a close age gap) and want to be back to my usual size before I get pregnant again so it's not ridiculously difficult to lose the weight after baby #2.

I'm having trouble getting DD to nap for more than 20 minutes at a time and need this time to get on top of jobs around the house.

Any exercises I could do while doing jobs? Or things I could do with baby while she's awake? I know the obvious walks etc and I have been trying to do at least 2 30 minute walks per day (walking DH to and from work with the pram).

TheNewMrsW · 11/09/2020 18:21

@KittyT30 nice to hear from you hope the sickness passes soon 🙂

@Mommabear20 can't offer any advice as we don't have any yet but good luck!

TheNewMrsW · 11/09/2020 18:24

Kicking off a very rock and roll Friday evening with a very pleasant non-alcoholic G&T! May allow myself just one of the real thing later as we aren't actually ttc yet. DH is on the shandys 😂

Cheers ladies!!! Thanks for keeping me motivated 😊

I'm back to teaching 3 days a week, cramming everything I want to do with DD in one day and having a day a week to get things done myself when she's at preschool (which has been absolute bliss after spending every waking moment of every day with a 3 year old for the last 6 months) so I've not been on for a few days. Its honestly just taken me 2 hours to catch up on the thread 😂.

When I first came on this group I was going to wait to TTC until after a hen party that was happening at the end of this month. Well I'm glad I changed my mind since thanks to BoJo that's definitely not going ahead now. I was actually getting really stressed about it as I'm due to test the day that the hen party was on so I'd either not be drinking and it'd be obvious or getting rip roaringly drunk because I'd be annoyed at not being pregnant. Just goes to show that you can't wait and plan these things around anything, especially at the moment.

@olderthanyouthink just out of curiosity is there a reason why you want to avoid a summer baby?

I've not watched one born every minute since I was pregnant with DD 4 years ago. I tried watching it once afterwards when I was up feeding her for hours in the middle of the night and I just got so mad that it wasn't like that for me (induced and then a painful epidural which I could still feel pain continuously but not contractions so didn't know when to push) and ended up switching it off.

@lollipop87 motivation for weight loss for me is all linked to gestational diabetes since I had that with my DD. I read thkat you're 3 times more likely to develop GD if your BMI is over 30 and even more likely to develop it if you've had it in a previous pregnancy.

@CookieMonster3001 I actually lost a stone at the beginning of my pregnancy with DD because my appitite went and I was eating half the portion size that I was before getting pregnant. I gradually put that stone back on but I actually weighed the same on the day I went into hospital as I did when I found out I was pregnant.

@HeyDW96 my app says I'm still in fertile window and 15 days until test day. It recons I still have 3 more fertile days so hopefully I can keep myself from counting down the days for the next 3 at least. When are you due to test?

@IAmFourEels love the representation of the shot glass in your lifetime movie 😂.

@queenatom I'm hoping being back at work and being busy will help distract me from tww when I get there but DD continually asking me if I bought her a baby yet always brings my mind back round to it 😂.

olderthanyouthink · 11/09/2020 21:14

@Pebbleinthesand partly I don't want to be suuuuper pregnant and giving birth in a heat wave (it was really really hot when I was pregnant with DD and I was very glad she was a November baby) and partly that if they go to school (thinking of homeschooling) I don't want them to be the youngest in the year, I struggled badly with things like reading and writing (not maths or science, I think I'm dyslexic) and DP is dyslexic and if we manage to pass it on to DC I'd like to have given them at least a bit of an advantage in being older. It's one of the few things I can semi control 🤷‍♀️
