OPKS

Just a quick one, my first month doing OPKs and although I have a pretty regular cycle I have started on CD5. I was under the impression I should test morning and night however the morning tests are always so faint it seems a waste of time? I've started reading SMEP and it says only do evenings? Obviously I'm getting through a lot of tests so just wondering if anyone has ever got there positive OPK in the morning or if I should stick to late afternoon evening?

Thanks in advance

How's everyone feeling? Last few days I've had headaches so bad they're making me feel sick Sad

@bibs124 Ooh I wonder if that's hormonal changes? When are you due to test.

@zippityzip perhaps! I'm 8 days since my positive OPK but ovulation could of happened a day or so after so I'm probably 7 DPO.. what about you?

How is everyone getting on??

zippityzip · 11/07/2020 15:29

@bibs124 I think I'm 6/7DPO - but absolutely not pregnant this month. Going to invest in some better OPKs for next cycle. You can test next week 😁

@LT103 Did AF arrive?

LT103 · 11/07/2020 16:01

@zippityzip yes unfortunately. Day 3 now. I’ve booked in for day 21 bloods because of the spotting I keep having to make sure things are ok. Actually feel ok now it’s here. Just hate that bit before where you don’t know what’s happening. No idea why I got a positive then negative results but just one of these things.
You still have time for that bfp 🤞🤞

zippityzip · 13/07/2020 07:47

Oh @LT103 that sucks. I'm really starting to think the internet cheapies aren't worth it.

I don't even have a whiff of a symptom so definitely out this month. AF due next week so just waiting for that bitch so we can try again.

The conception vitamins I've got my for DH have upset his stomach so will try and find another one for him. I'll be broke before the baby arrives 😂 all these vitamins and tests.

@zippityzip hope you’re feeling better! I know what you mean, it suddenly gets Expensive with all the tests and supplements doesn’t it!

@LT103 what will they check for when you get the bloods done?

I do think the ClearBlue tests seem good so far instead of the cheap ones, it’s my first month of using them and easier than trying to photo and squint at a tiny line first thing in the morning! Got flashing smiley on Saturday and static smiley on Sunday so hoping we’ve managed to time things right this month 🤞

zippityzip · 13/07/2020 11:09

This video is pretty cool. Although makes me feel really sorry for sperm. Don't know why I'm watching videos on this but I'm procrastinating around work.

LT103 · 13/07/2020 20:53

@Poppy10121 think it’s just day 21 progesterone to start with because I’ve been spotting a lot. But he also mentioned would maybe need to check oestrogen, LH and FSH. At least it’s a start. We’ve only been trying 3 months but I’d rather not wait before checking in case anything needs done esp as I’m 38. I have a pretty good doctor though and I’m glad didn’t make me wait too long for checks. The check is mainly due to the spotting. Last 2 cycles it was almost a full week of spotting followed by a super light and short period. Bit odd

BeeMakesTea · 14/07/2020 12:09

Hi again, so I started with the clearblue OPKs yesterday, the ones with 2 hormones. I got an empty circle yest as expected but today I got a flashing smiley. I’m a bit confused as I’m only CD10 today and don’t usually ovulate until around CD 16/17 (I think- not used OPKs before). Does this sound normal? I’m going to try a cheapie one later I think.
Also do people usually DTD every day with a flashing smiley or wait until a solid smiley/ peak?

Poppy10121 · 14/07/2020 13:12

@LT103 it's a good idea to get the checks done if you can, put your mind at rest or sort out any underlying issues. Hope it all goes well!

@BeeMakesTea I think the flashing smiley starts when it detects oestrogen which can happen a while before your LH surge - I've definitely seen some people on here saying that they had 4-5 days of flashing smiley before the static one (which is triggered by the LH surge) so could be right! I think they are supposed to give you at least 2 flashing days before static smiley, and the static comes 2 days before ovulation.

I think on DTD it depends on you and your partner, the first month I was trying every day in the lead up to ovulation and then by the actual ovulation day we were worn out and my partner couldn't finish! So now I would wait until the solid/peak (personally). But I guess it all depends how often you usually do it and how you both feel about it!

BeeMakesTea · 14/07/2020 14:24

@Poppy10121 ah that makes sense, thanks! I just did a cheapie one and it is low so looks like I might have a few days of flashing smileys before the solid.
Yes that’s my concern, we could start dtd every day now but I could still have a week until ovulation! Maybe we’ll aim for every other day until I get a peak...

Poppy10121 · 14/07/2020 18:28

@BeeMakesTea honestly until I started TTC obsessively I would never have thought having sex every day would be a chore 😂

zippityzip · 15/07/2020 08:34

I'm 10DPO and debating whether or not to test. Period is due Sunday. I know it's only four days but this feels like torture. Just want to know!
I'm having cramps but could also be AF gearing up for her arrival.
I've seen some squinters on here at 10DPO so I wonder if I am if it would show.

Poppy10121 · 15/07/2020 10:44

@zippityzip The waiting game is hard isn't it! I've always waited until AF is late to test, but that's partly because I am cheap and don't want to waste expensive tests :D

zippityzip · 15/07/2020 10:46

@Poppy10121 I did and it was negative. I should have known really!! Now I've just given myself the hump.

bibs124 · 15/07/2020 11:57

@zippityzip sorry to hear about your BFN. I'm trying to resist the urge to test, not been on here much as trying to distract myself from thinking about TWW. AF due Monday Sad

zippityzip · 15/07/2020 12:40

@bibs124 So hard isn't it. Sometimes I'm rational and know full well I'm not pregnant this month and other times I give myself false hope.
However to keep me focused I've just bought some soy isoflavones from Tesco so will try these next cycle. Just wish my period was here so I can start again!

LT103 · 15/07/2020 13:15

@zippityzip sorry to hear that but you’re still really early. After what happened with me this month I’m going to take any early tests with a pinch of salt. I’m not gonna lie, I will likely still test early, I know I will haha but I’m not believing any tests until there is a dark line and af is late!!!

zippityzip · 15/07/2020 15:53

@LT103 I know I should not test early but I can't sit on my hands 😂 how are you feeling?

zippityzip · 15/07/2020 16:03

Friend and cousin just announced their pregnancies on fb today.

One was drunken fumble (long term partner) and they whoopsied on the condom. But they are happy.

Other one has only been with her partner for 5 months.

Trying my best to be happy for them but just makes me even more deflated.

LT103 · 15/07/2020 16:40

@zippityzip I know what you mean. Every time I hear of a pregnancy I am delighted for them but it just reminds me that I’m not. Hopefully we all get our bfp soon

zippityzip · 16/07/2020 06:45

@LT103 Yeah it's like a slap in the face. When my period arrives on Sunday I'm going to have a chat with DH about ramping up the TTC.

He's of the opinion we can have sex "normally" ie randomly whenever we want a few times and get pregnant "casually".

I'm even open to getting him off when he's too tired and self-inseminating. Don't even know how to approach that 😂 but he's always too tired during my fertile window.

I may have just gone crazy with PMS and disappointment.
