OPKS

Just a quick one, my first month doing OPKs and although I have a pretty regular cycle I have started on CD5. I was under the impression I should test morning and night however the morning tests are always so faint it seems a waste of time? I've started reading SMEP and it says only do evenings? Obviously I'm getting through a lot of tests so just wondering if anyone has ever got there positive OPK in the morning or if I should stick to late afternoon evening?

Thanks in advance

@LT103 the spotting is crazy but you're not out until AF arrives.

@bibs124 oh god that pulled on my heart strings.

LT103 · 05/07/2020 07:30

@zippityzip true. I’ll keep thinking positively!!

@bibs124 😢😢 That is so sweet. It will happen for you both!! Hopefully soon! My oh is on board but he’s not ott desperate for a baby the way I am. He just sees it as a natural progression of things. If it happens, it happens. He’s great with kids tho and I’m sure he’ll be delighted when it actually comes to it!

zippityzip · 05/07/2020 08:33

Haven't done an OPK yet today because I'm hungover 🥺 it's meant to be my peak today.

But I did jump on him last night and I'm hoping he's up for it again a bit later. So I'm not completely out but not overly hopeful this month.

bibs124 · 05/07/2020 08:41

@zippityzip just keep going until you get your peak Smile

LT103 · 05/07/2020 08:55

@zippityzip ah you’re def in with a chance this month. Keep testing and see.

Wee dtd the day of peak but we didn’t again until 3 days later cos it was during that really hot spell and neither of us were really feeling it! Hopefully was enough. I’m testing tomorrow 😬🤞

zippityzip · 05/07/2020 10:00

Good luck for tomorrow @LT103 let us know how you get on!!

I've done an OPK and it's darker but not the peak. I may have missed it? I'll test again later and keep trying to seduce my knackered DH anyway. Hopefully tonight and tomorrow should cover it!

bibs124 · 05/07/2020 10:09

@LT103 let us know how you get on! Fingers crossed for you. I'm feeling hopeful this month but don't want to get my hopes up too much Sad

@zippityzip if you scroll down you can see what mine looked like right before the peak. I got my peak at midday so maybe try hold a wee for 4 hours then test again and probably will get your peak Smile

I’ve ordered the ClearBlue tests to try this month, the ones that track 2 hormones so will be interested to see what difference that makes and if they show a fertile window earlier than the cheap kind. These are supposed to show you 4 fertile days so I hope that would be less stressful than trying to jump on my partner the second I see the strong OPK line!

Good luck to all you other ladies, I think just keep DTD as much as poss... until TTC I would never have thought this sounded like a chore 😂

zippityzip · 05/07/2020 11:58

@bibs124 I saw yours - I think mine are getting there. DH is on his way home so I'm going to pounce again 😂 peak day or not I'm getting it while I can.

@Poppy10121Good luck! I hope they are clearer for you. And have fun!

bibs124 · 05/07/2020 12:29

@Poppy10121 I found the clear blue really helpful this month! I only used one out of the box of 10 too so actually only cost £1.60 plus about £2-3 for the cheapies! Not bad really.. If I’m not successful this month will use the cheapies til it gets stronger and then clear blue again as doing the clear blues everyday would be extortionate! However is defo worth the money if it helps us conceive Smile

So DH was too knackered on Sunday so now I'm sulking. I thought TTC would just be fun with loads of sex. I'm definitely out this month I reckon.
I've either not had a peak or I've missed it entirely but the OPK was fainter this morning so that's me done for July.

bibs124 · 06/07/2020 08:23

@zippityzip how many OPKs were you doing a day? You never know.. 100s of people seem to pregnant from one night stands so it can happen from just DTD once! TTC is hard work isn't it..

Hope I've done enough this month, was planning to do SMEP but didn't quite make it.. Don't think we will DTD tonight or for a few nights so done all I can now..

@zippityzip if it helps we dtd at start of fw and on day of peak but didn’t manage any after that when you’re supposed to do the 3 days in a row. But I think I may have just got the tiniest faint line on an ic at 10 dpo 🤞🤞. Not sure though so will do a better test tomorrow

zippityzip · 06/07/2020 08:28

@bibs124 I didn't at all on Sunday, but I've done one today and the line so much lighter I've either missed it or not ovulated. My only hope is that when I jumped on him Saturday night the swimmers are still going!

Have had a chat with him today because I don't want to pressure him but I've said all this overtime and working means you're too knackered for me full stop. No conversation let alone sex. I've instigated every liaison we've had this month - usually his sex drive is higher than mine.

It'll be a miracle if we do conceive this month but I'll still be a POAS addict when my period is due!

Yours looks really promising. How do you approach SMEP with your DH without making it really regimented?

zippityzip · 06/07/2020 08:28

@LT103 please show us a pic!!! Love line eye pics. Really hope it's positive for you!

LT103 · 06/07/2020 08:31

It’s so faint I’m just not sure. Came up straight away along with the control line. I’m going to do an frer tomorrow morning to see. I was so convinced I was out this month. Had spotting 3 dpo then again at 8 and 9 but I spotted for 5 days before af last month so I just don’t know. Not getting hopes up yet

@LT103 That's not faint!!!!! That's a positive. 😄😄😄😄😄

bibs124 · 06/07/2020 09:42

@LT103 that looks promising, congratulations! I'd go and buy a first response Grin

Hi ladies, hope you don’t mind me joining to ask questions? I’ve used cheapie OPKs this month for the first time- we weren’t TTC as still recovering from MMC in May but I wanted to see when I ovulated. What’s the best time to use them? I was doing it around 2-3pm but is it better to do later in the afternoon/evening? Or both? The highest reading I got was 0.55 on Premom app but I suspect I’d have got a peak if I’d done more than 1 that day. We are TTC this month so want to get it right!
@Poppy10121 I’m the same, before MMC we were more relaxed but this month I’m fully on board with the OPKs and SMEP! Now just got to try and DTD on the right days without seeming too regimented about it all...

zippityzip · 06/07/2020 10:26

Welcome @BeeMakesTea

bibs124 · 06/07/2020 10:52

@BeeMakesTea hey, sorry to @BeeMakesTea hello, sorry to hear about your MMC Sad. I’m not an expert as my first month too but I was doing morning & evening and then closer to the middle of my cycle/when the line got stronger a did midday with a cheapie where I got what I thought was my peak so took a clear blue to be 100% sure and got my smiley face on CD12.

OP posts:
Poppy10121 · 06/07/2020 15:01

Hi @BeeMakesTea sorry for your loss :( It's really hard isn't it.

I'm not an expert either, I've only been doing them for a couple of months but I did them first thing in the morning because otherwise I wee too often (I drink tea and water all day long!) and then when I got near to a peak I was doing a second one around 3pm to check for the peak.

It's hard for things not to feel regimented, I've tried telling my OH about the ovulation day but that felt like too much pressure, so now I am just keeping that info to myself but jumping on him regularly - trying to mix up the time of day etc. But it does start to feel like a chore when you get to the every day part and some days you just don't want to! I've been using the Pre-seed lubricant as well which might help for a quickie...

bibs124 · 06/07/2020 17:42

Does anyone else feel really nauseous and have a headache straight after ovulation? I think it must be the change in hormones
