@SmileyT yeah the hours aren't too bad. I do one late shift a week on a Monday but then 8-4:30 the rest of the week. If I could drop one day once I have kids I'd be happy.

Oh yeah you should. I never bought anything which I'm glad about, I was waiting for 12 weeks which I will.do again next time to be on the safe side but I made a list of all the things I'd like. I watched the must haves/regrets videos and a lot of what I have in my hospital bag ones which was a bit premature 😂. I just enjoyed being excited about it and I'm feeling optimistic again so I'm back on that bandwagon.

The problem is I just don't particularly like the taste of alcohol so of it's just a drink in the house I'd rather have a cuppa 😂. I always thought I'd grow up eventually and enjoy a glass of wine with my meals but I'm 30 now so I figure that ship has sailed! I'll be the classy girl with a can of fruity cider forever.

I used the clear blue digital. They're a bit pricey but I see people posting pics of the internet strip ones and I can never tell if they're positive or not and there seems to be loads of posts where people are unsure. I'll use the clear blue for 3 months and if I'm not pregnant by then maybe I'll switch because I figure I should be pretty sure of my cycles/ovulation by then.

Which ones do you use?

Ltay2 · 24/04/2020 08:48

Just out of curiosity which pregnancy tests would you recommend I get? I have never bought one in my life so I have no idea 😂 I don't want to spend a fortune on them as I would rather go for cheap ones to begin with for that 'first test' then if it's looking good then test again with a more advanced style. I know it's for the greater good of pregnancy but I am also aware they are A LOT of wasted plastic!

KateColx · 24/04/2020 09:36

@Ltay2 I've got a pack of First Response Early Result tests ready for this month haha, apparently they're the best for giving early results. It says you can test 6 days before AF is due. I got them from amazon and they weren't that expensive.

I also have Clear Blue digital results ones. I've never tried the cheaper internet ones, I think having the CB ones has always made me less likely to test a lot because they're expensive haha x

Ltay2 · 24/04/2020 09:39

@KateColx Haha that is a good thought! Sure if I have spent a lot on tests I wouldn't want to use them so quickly too!

In regards to the First Response ones, are they reliable? My concern would be that whatever test result I got at that stage I wouldn't feel like I could trust that much and therefore would end up still stressing anyway!

Rotagilla · 24/04/2020 09:41

Good morning ladies,
A day all to myself today, the only room that isn't sorted since moving is the spare room.
I'm itching to get it done....but also worried il see it as the babies room instead of the junk spare room. And I'm not sure that's positive thinking or getting ahead of myself Hmm
Oh I can't wait to be pregnant and to design a little nursery...

Ltay2 · 24/04/2020 09:44

@Rotagilla I can't wait for our spare room to be a nursery too, if only for the simple reason of DETESTING the horrible carpet in that room (was there when we moved in) and transforming the room into a nursery is the only reasonable excuse we have to invest in a new one! 🤣

KateColx · 24/04/2020 09:52

@Ltay2 I haven't used the first response ones myself but I've seen on a loottt of threads on here that people recommend getting those if you want to test before AF is due. It's normally the one people suggest if someone is struggling with mixed results on the paper like tests. So they sound good? I know what you mean though, I'll probably end up using them just as quickly 😂🙈

Also totally with you guys on turning the spare room into the nursery. Before Christmas we'd cleared it all out ready to turn it into a dressing room and now we've had to put the plans on hold so it's just an empty room waiting ☺️ x

Ltay2 · 24/04/2020 09:57

@KateColx Ah I see, I'll look into those then. Just don't want to be impatient so this time going to hold off and just see what happens AF wise. I think as the months go on and I can more and more desperate I won't be so patient though! 🙈

Noble89 · 24/04/2020 10:08

@Ltay2 if you're planning to test early I'd definitely say get the frer tests. I got my BFP 4 days before my period using those on my last pregnancy. You don't need to worry about not trusting them, it's highly unusual to get a false positive so if you see a line you're definitely pregnant.

However, if you're waiting until your period is late really any test will do so there's no point wasting money 😊

Panda789 · 24/04/2020 10:09

@Richmonder Welcome! 😊 it's exciting when you can finally say you are actively TTC! I haven't had this happen but if it's highly unusual for you then may be best to call docs for advice? X

Panda789 · 24/04/2020 10:13

@Ltay2 I have a box of 2 tests from Boots for about £5, not tried yet so unsure if they are reliable! And also I have one Clear Blue digital which tells you how many weeks which I'll only use after I get a positive on the others just to clarify it for me! I've also heard really good things about first reposnse ones 😊 are you going to order some? X

babyG123 · 24/04/2020 10:16

@Ltay2 one thing I will say off of the digital clear blue you add 2 weeks on to what it says!!!

I didn't know this with my son and at the scan I was 2 weeks ahead of what I thought. Bonus weeks but just so you know.

Rotagilla · 24/04/2020 10:18

Ltay2 I hope you get rid of your horrid carpet soon 😂😂 for now shut the door on it...

Panda789 it is exciting but I feel I'm trying to rush through this bit...I will try and slow down and enjoy the ttc as part of the whole journey.

KateColx nice to have a lovely blank canvas just waiting to be let loose on!

Blossom93 · 24/04/2020 10:39

@KRK05 I’m so sorry to hear that 😞 I really hope this month is the month for you! Yeah that sounds like a good idea. I can imagine me wanting to test like a week before AF is due so I’m going to do my best and hold out for the day before. It feels like forever away but trying my best not to stress, hope you’re alright. Just keep telling myself it’s only the first month and it’ll happen when it’s the right time ☺️

@MrsEmilyB we love love love Winona and Lola but finding it impossible to decide on a boys name.. how about you?
Trying not to google boy names on the daily for ideas as we aren’t even pregnant yet - I just like to be prepared!!

Ltay2 · 24/04/2020 11:05

@Noble89 Oh thank you that is very helpful! I think this month I will wait and see what happens with AF and not test until I know I am late but next month I will get FRER in hand just in case!

@Panda789 I think I will be the same as you, stock up on slightly cheaper versions then use the more advanced one once I know a bit more!

MrsEmilyB · 24/04/2020 11:10

@katecolx - Hello again! I think we met on the April bus! We are also cycle 2 for #1

@Rotagilla - omg me too! When did you move? We did a 200 mile move the week before Christmas (we are nuts, I know 😂) and bed 4 is still a right mess. But I've already mapped out a little nursery in my head and DH and I have decided where to put baby furniture! I've even got the wallpaper (by accident, bought it years ago. Grey with little white dog silhouettes)

@Richmonder - welcome! Lovely to have you here 💕

@Blossom93 - ooh Winona is so cute! I haven't met a little Winona in my time. We love India for a girl, and like Florence, too. No idea on boys!

Panda789 · 24/04/2020 11:16

@Ltay2 yeah best to do it that way rather than trying first with the more expensive ones! I'm 8dpo and the wait is killing me 😂

@Blossom93 I literally can't stop thinking about names 🙈 Winona and Lola are lovely names!! Why are boys names so much harder!

babyG123 · 24/04/2020 12:12

The reviews on first response are so mixed I think I'll try and wait h til period is late.

Saying that mines all Over the show I don't know when that'll be 🤣

MrsEmilyB · 24/04/2020 15:38

@babyG123 - at 14+ dpo most tests will give you a line if you've caught!

FoxRedLabrador · 24/04/2020 16:04

Hi everyone,

Bit late to the party, but can I join the group please?

Looks like a super positive board and I'm going crazy having no one other than hubby to talk to! We are super excited but agreed to not tell anyone we are TTC - it's enough pressure without family and friends asking questions!

This is our 2nd cycle TTC baby #1🤞 Ovulation around tomorrow (not using BBT or OPK's...yet but may look into it for future cycles 🤔) AF due 9th May.

Hoping May is our month for all of us! Xxx

Panda789 · 24/04/2020 16:21

Welcome @FoxRedLabrador 😊 so nice to have a big group of us! Sending you lots of baby dust! Xxx

Ltay2 · 24/04/2020 16:29

@FoxRedLabrador Welcome! Your cycle sounds almost exactly the same as mine. Also Cycle 2 of TTC baby #1. Ovulation was yesterday and AF due 7th May!

KRK05 · 24/04/2020 16:31

@Blossom93 Thankyou so much! 😊 That's best way to just try to hold out without adding stress of pregnancy tests before AF into the mix aswell, although that is easier says that done 😜 just got to stay positive & remind ourselves it's supposed to be enjoyable & fun & a beautiful thing TTC, instead of stressful & becoming less enjoyable!

I definitely recommend First Response tests for anybody testing early though I got a clear positive 6 days before my AF on them, but then not everybody's the same but they do seem the best for seeing line progression & easier to read than blue dye tests!

I personally do think I'm out this month though 😭 I think I've got a tummy bug so DTD is the last thing on my mind & dont want to force it for the sake of it! Weve only DTD CD8,9,13,15 although I dont know why I'm stressing considering I'm sure I was preaching the other day about how it only takes one time 😂

SmileyT · 24/04/2020 16:41

@Noble89 yeah I'll definitely be waiting until 12 weeks but OH is on nights now so will have a nosey at the YouTube videos over the next few nights.

That's fair enough about not liking alcohol don't bother with it, it's just extra calories and makes you feel like crap, really no benefits 😂 I'm using the cheap femometer strip ones and CB digital alongside it, just to see what they both say (the cheap ones were only £10 for 30 lh tests and 20 pregnancy tests so 🤷🏾‍♀️)

@Ltay2 I have the clear blue pg tests which I read were pretty reliable but I think it depends how much you are planning on testing. In my last pregnancy I took one test when I was a week late and never took another one (apart from at Drs) but since being on TTC forums it's seems to be the norm to test about 5 times each cycle. I don't want to test before AF due as I think I'd find it sadder getting a negative than getting my period but FRER seem to be the go to if you want to test straight after implantation (about 8/9dpo) 👌🏾

Also loving the nursery chat ladies 🥰🥰🥰

SmileyT · 24/04/2020 16:46

Welcome @FoxRedLabrador this is definitely a positive group. Definitely agree about not telling people we are TTC - I think it's nice for it to be a bit of a surprise and something special between me and OH without people constantly waiting for the announcement. How are you tracking ovulation? xx
