Reality - all ok so far thank you. Currently 13+4 and have my 12 week scan tomorrow. Very nervous, hoping all is still progressing

Mystie · 19/11/2019 18:42

Anyone else had terrible bloating during 2WW? I'm 10dpo and been bloated every evening since 3dpo. It's not painful but feels really cruel as I actually look 5 months pregnant. Have read some scary things related to ovarian cancer and endometriosis but not sure whether it could be related to not enough progesterone as I know that can be an issue for older women? Any insights I'd be super grateful

NicLondon1 · 19/11/2019 19:21

@Mystie To be honest, I always get bloating every cycle.... I always thought it was caused by the progesterone..? Don't know for sure

@Cleozeta How was your scan today...? All OK?

Mystie · 19/11/2019 19:24

@NicLondon1 yeah that's what I'm thinking hopefully it will ease off when af arrives!

Samk79 · 19/11/2019 21:24

Hello ladies
I'm still lurking on here! I'm 40 and have two older children from a previous relationship . I fell pg in jan with my new husbands baby but sadly it ended in a loss. We put of ttc as we were getting married in July.
We aren't "not actively" trying but also not using anything. My husband is now saying he thinks we are too old which is devestating ☹️

Chatbash72 · 20/11/2019 07:23

As my birthday hurtles towards me, I decided to google pregnancy at 46 because I had hoped that that it would have happened but I found this lovely lady and haven't had a chance to check out the blog but
Why it's not so rare to get pregnant after 45
By thegoodshufu although she's American based it was a very positive article.. I'm looking for loads at the mo.. but it does happen and I'm filling my reading with positive stuff at the moment..
I still believe, I'm still v regular and we are still having unprotected sex.. keeping the odds up... sending lots of baby dust out to you all.. 💕💕💕💕

I’m currently sat in the waiting area waiting for my HSG and absolutely terrified.
Trying hard to fight back the tears.
One of my best friends messaged me that she’s pregnant last night and I’m so happy for her, genuinely thrilled but it made me feel so jealous ☹️

Chatbash72 · 20/11/2019 09:42

@MaryShelley1818 my sis in law had this done.. ( she's v early 30's but still had trouble.. not sure age is always the barrier) and she said it was uncomfortable, felt a bit crappy afterwards.. but worth it to know if they were clear or not. sending big hugs...

@Chatbash72 thank you so much for your kind message.
It was actually totally fine! I’m so relieved. Everything looks perfect and I didn’t even find it too uncomfortable so feeling so pleased it’s over.
I had an x-ray operator, 2 nurses and 2 doctors (1 student) and we all actually managed to have a good laugh through it. Wonderful NHS x

Cleozeta · 20/11/2019 10:27

Had my 12 week scan and all looking good so far!

MaryShelley1818 · 20/11/2019 10:37

@MaryShelley1818 - that's great the HSG wasn't too uncomfortable and that it's all clear. I know that feeling when hearing about other's pregnancy. It's really hard no matter how pleased you are for them at the same time!

@Samk79 - good luck with it all. Maybe your DH is saying you might both be too old as a sort of way of deflecting the worry of it not happening?

@Cleozeta - congratulations on the 12 week scan!

@Chatbash72 - that blog post sounds great - I find it useful to look up positive statistics and stories too.

I'm planning a weekend in a hotel with a pool by the seaside for DS and I (he has never stayed in a hotel) and also book a weekend in the new year for DP and I. And a weekend for a friend to come and stay. It feels good to plan some things in so that the next few months aren't all about what CD it is and whether I'm pregnant or not or waiting to test etc.

Chatbash72 · 20/11/2019 11:12

@Starlight39 I'm with you in the booking and planning bits.. good distraction and fab to look forward too.. xx

Thank you for all your kindness and advice. i'm feeling a lit better today. We are actively trying now ahead of the fertile window, i think that's calmed me as i feel like I am doing something, not just waiting.
Last night a friend told me she was 12 weeks and sent a pic, timing couldn't be worse, when you are trying to cope, hearing that news is extra hard and now i feel guilty. We are meeting at the weekend, its been planned for ages and I've been so looking forward to it and now i'm really not.

Mystie · 20/11/2019 14:30

@calmcat I know exactly how it feels, my best friend who is older than me wasn't trying to fall yet as she's already got a 9 month old has just told me she's 5 weeks pregnant. Finding it so hard to talk to her about it 😞

Glad you're feeling better and have started trying again. I'm in purgatory waiting for af to arrive. Negative frer this morning at 11dpo so know I'm out this month 😕 trying to keep busy by Christmas shopping and planning to have a good drink this weekend!

Sending big hugs 🤗

MaryShelley1818 · 20/11/2019 15:03

@calmcat I know the feeling after last night!! My friend and I were on Maternity leave together with our firsts and after ‘stopping ttc’ to book a big holiday and deciding to wait a while now have their little surprise and I couldn’t be happier for them but inside it hurts so much.
Xx

NicLondon1 · 20/11/2019 15:49

@Cleozeta Congrats, great news!

@Samk79 - sorry that your husband is feeling that way... do you mean that he is just worried, or that he no longer wants to etc...? I think there are plenty of examples of pregnant women in their 40s, including those on here!

I turned up at my clinic, so excited today, thought we were starting a stimulated IUI. But it turned out they just want to do "follicle tracking" first, to see just what is going on. No medical stimulation. I am so gutted. I actually burst into tears when I left. So fed up of stupidly long cycles... another 40-50 days waiting.

To those who have done an IUI/IVF - did you have to do a monitored natural cycle first, just to track follicle growth? It seems like such a waste of time/money. But perhaps there is a medical reason...?

KeepingTheFaith9 · 20/11/2019 16:18

Hello ladies. I’ve just come back to see how you are all getting on and am beyond delighted to hear your news @Cleozeta! I have often thought of you as you had such steely determination and shared a lot that helped me. I was on here last year as some of you might recall after 2 years TTC, I had my son in Dec 2018, aged 44.5! My little boy is soon to be one, and a blessing, but I will never forget the journey. Wishing you all luck, love and light and above all FAITH in some kind of higher power, it was the only thing that kept me going. XxX

MaryShelley1818 · 20/11/2019 16:52

Keepingthefaith that is such a lovely message, so positive. Congratulations on your little boy - my little boy is 2 in December and it’s a great age, toddlers are hilarious and he just makes me laugh so much every day.

Hopefully I’ll be able to give him a sibling xx

Cleozeta · 20/11/2019 17:04

Keepingthefaith - thank you for your message, so pleased things are going well for you and your little boy. I do love a happy ending!

MaryShelley1818 · 20/11/2019 18:47

Well according to the Doctor I’ll never be more fertile than I am then straight after an HSG and according to Ovia my fertility is a 10 today too!!!! DS is at Grandmas house so need to put some effort in tonight 😆😂

NicLondon1 · 20/11/2019 18:52

@KeepingTheFaith9 Thanks so much for checking in, that's wonderful to hear!

Chatbash72 · 20/11/2019 20:33

Best get busy @MaryShelley1818 😉😉😉😉
