@lucieloos I don't think it's just the super fertile that get pregnant in their 40s. Apart from with my second daughter (first month of trying) it's always taken me over a year to get pregnant, even in my early 30s. I was devastated by my mc this month but at the same time it was a relief to know I can still get pregnant (I'm 44).

Sunnydays123456 · 15/06/2020 10:46

@annaconda do you think having periods regular cycle means can still conveive?

Sorry that’s a really obvious question probably but I have always conceived so fast (like one shag !) 4 times I can’t believe it’s taking me so long (even though am really old lol)

Poor body , I think I am expecting too much! Also is a different partner so maybe that is a factor ?

lucieloos · 15/06/2020 10:52

@MaryShelley1818 good luck with your scan. I used to get terrible scanxiety but I really hope everything goes well for you and you get that amazing feeling afterwards when you've seen your little one all good and well.

@anaconda76 thanks lovely. It's just such an unknown for me whether it will ever work naturally or not. Such a gamble. I literally lie there thinking every night before I go to sleep thinking how amazing it would be to some day wake up and get a natural bfp. Like you say your mc is really awful but there's some small comfort in knowing it could work for you.

Sunnydays123456 · 15/06/2020 10:53

@MaryShelley1818 omg good luck!!!

Chatbash72 · 15/06/2020 11:52

@Chatbash72 big hug. Hope you feel better soon !

anaconda76 · 15/06/2020 13:33

@MaryShelley1818 I think it's natural to worry about the scan but try to think positively. Chances are you're going to be meeting your baby for the first time. Smile

anaconda76 · 15/06/2020 13:48

@Sunnydays123456 do you know if you ovulate every month? And yes, the different partner could definitely be the difference. It might take a bit longer this time.

@lucieloos (love your screen name - it's my middle daughter's nickname). A few years ago I had a school mum friend who conceived her little boy through IVF. She had been told that there was more chance of her getting run over by a bus on her own doorstep than conceiving naturally, she gave up hope and then conceived naturally. Another friend had twins through IVF and decided her family was complete and then conceived a little girl naturally without trying. It does happen so don't give up hope. x

lucieloos · 15/06/2020 14:31

@anaconda76 aww thanks so much that was so nice to hear. We've been through so much ttc that it's hard to believe it could ever work out for us like that but your message gave me a little hope. It would be so amazing 😊

Sunnydays123456 · 15/06/2020 15:03

@anaconda76 no I don’t know if I do (or when tbh!) - all I know is that I previously conceived immediately on 4 occasions (two when ttc and 2 by accident when not ).. but obv was loads younger then

Cycle is still the same and am quite young looking for age (actually , a few months ago I go ID’d in Sainsbury buying wine !) also lead healthy lifestyle , barely drink , eat keto , exercise - hmmmm don’t think could do much else (other than sex more frequently
I suppose )

I might start doing temping but in a way pointless as my dp works away a fair bit so can’t really try try in that way (also, he would be happy if it happened as a surprise but don’t think he would be up for trying seriously tbh!)

Sunnydays123456 · 15/06/2020 15:04

As in, we are together about half to two thirds of the month but not necessarily around ov !

anaconda76 · 15/06/2020 17:55

@Sunnydays123456 my husband works away a lot too. Sometimes he's away every week night. I stopped tracking ovulation because it was so upsetting when I got the static smiley face and he was several counties away.

Sunnydays123456 · 15/06/2020 18:15

Snap ana !

Just gonna leave it to fate as also don’t want sex to become just to conceive rather than fun ! As is unlikely will conceive anyway !

Sunnydays123456 · 15/06/2020 18:25

Ana - am so sorry to hear re your miscarriage xx

Catclock · 19/06/2020 17:00

Hello ladies, popping in and marking the page so I can read back through and see how you're all doing. Much love x

2alreadywantanother · 21/06/2020 19:53

Can't believe I'm doing this, but we have decided to "try" and go again. I'm 40 in a few months. We have 2 kids already. Youngest is 9. No issues ttc them. But the whole age thing is an issue with me. My ovaries are screaming at me this few months, basically telling me it's now or never. Not using any contraceptive, the pull out technique, which I'm hoping will stand to us.
I'd love 1 more. Am I mad lol
My husband didnt want anymore as our last was an awful crier. Then our son was diagnosed with T1 diabetes. So we never really though anymore about it. But deep down I know in my heart I wanted 1 more. So hes been very supportive and started to not pull out Blush
So here's hoping. Trying to read back on posts to see if many around 40 have any luck. I'm over weight, but losing weight. But healthy otherwise. (I think,)
So yeah that's it. Thought my baby forum days were well and truly over. Never say never I suppose

Springroll89 · 25/06/2020 09:44

Welcome @2alreadywantanother Congratulations on making the decision for a 3rd. It's a toughie isn't it. Its a wishing you all luck x

2alreadywantanother · 25/06/2020 09:51

Thanks @Springroll89.
It's just a frightening time with been 40 thos yr. I'll be gutted if we left it too late. Don't get me wrong. I'm blessed to have my 2. I thing the hormones are in overdrive and screaming at me to do this now lol if that makes sence.
My friend that's a but younger than me, she has 4 and she wasnt having anymore pregnant and that has seriously put the going on me. Poor DH doesn't know what's going on with all the action. He thinks all his Christmases and birthdays have come at once lol

MaryShelley1818 · 26/06/2020 20:58

Hi everyone, so I had my scan today at 7+3 and we have a tiny little baby with a strong heartbeat that could be seen clearly on screen. I went on my own as I was so convinced it would be bad news. Obviously still a long way to go yet but feeling very relieved right now. I cried a lot!! Xx

2alreadywantanother · 26/06/2020 21:10

@maryshelly1818

Well, after a MMC at 9 weeks in May 2019 I just got a positive frer at 10dpo. My cycle has been increasingly perimenopausal so I just wanted to say there is still hope for us to get pregnant (I'm 43 now) even if it might not progress anywhere :)
