claireb707 · 01/05/2020 11:11

Congratulations @Realitysucks he's gorgeous

And so glad your scan was ok @Russkispy!

I've become a pin cushion again this morning, for some reason the doc requested I get all the blood tests that I had last month repeated, the nurse could find no reason why as they all came back normal 😩

Starlight39 · 08/05/2020 15:07

Happy VE day everyone!

How is everybody?

That's annoying that they insisted on doing the tests again, @claireb707 - do you know how long the results will take?

I am 7dpo I think and CD22 and have period-y feelings and a bit of spotting. It doesn't feel like implanation spotting I've had before, it feels like the beginning of my period but if it is my cycle is really screwed Sad. I guess all I can do is wait.

Does anyone know if fertility clinics are open again? I'm wondering whether to wait for my NHS appt or see if I can get a private one.

twinkledag · 08/05/2020 20:12

Hi @CritterTamer sorry for late reply but this thread doesn't come up on my TIO.

Last 4 cycles:

14 eggs collected, 10 fertilised and 2 blastos. BFN

10 collected, I think 8 fertilised and ended up with 5 blastos. MC and BFN.

6 or 8 collected, 6 fertilised, 1 6-day blasto which was PGD tested and wasn't suitable for transfer.

Last cycle 5 collected and only 1 blasto - BFN

Next cycle planning a tandem cycle - me and a donor - waiting to be able to fly again to do this! Was due to fly to our clinic on 6 April but obviously coronavirus put a stop to that. 😢

twinkledag · 08/05/2020 20:14

Congratulations on baby Jake!!💙

CritterTamer · 08/05/2020 20:30

@twinkledag interesting stats given our age and AMH were about the same - have you tried a cycle using testosterone gel?
My first cycle (without testosterone) resulted in 6 eggs collected, 6 fertilised, 4 day 5 blasts. 2 medium quality transferred - BFN. Second cycle was using testosterone and resulted in 12 eggs collected, 11 fertilised, 7 day 5 blasts, 2 absolutely top quality transferred and BFP (twins), and two really good quality day 6 frosties. I did some other things a well that cycle such as acupuncture and the endo scratch, but i'm sure the testosterone made a difference.

twinkledag · 08/05/2020 20:33

What does testosterone gel do?

claireb707 · 08/05/2020 20:50

@Starlight39 not a clue, last time the doc rang me, but not sure how long after the blood test. Can try and find out

claireb707 · 08/05/2020 20:53

Just checked phone call lists. The doc rang me on the 6th April (Monday) after my test on 1st (Wednesday) so the results might be back now. Will ring on monday

CritterTamer · 08/05/2020 21:03

@twinkledag there is evidence that it improves both the number and quality of eggs collected in some people

twinkledag · 08/05/2020 21:31

Thank you @CritterTamer I will ask my clinic about this 🙂

Leftittoolate · 15/05/2020 17:17

I'm new and just found this thread. I am in my late 40's and am very broody. Not sure if there is any chance at all of conceiving naturally at my age but I fee as young as I did in my early 30's and still having periods so I am hoping it's not too late! I have a teenage son and not a great experience in terms of things going wrong before and after he was born so have been very wary of trying again. He was conceived easily and naturally but obviously I was a lot younger. IVF is not an option. Good luck to everyone. Anyone know of anyone in the late 40's who has managed to conceive naturally and gone on to have a healthy baby? Thanks in advance :)

claireb707 · 15/05/2020 17:59

@Leftittoolate hi and welcome, can't help unfortunately but I'm sure someone will be able to

My blood results came back normal apparently, doctor couldn't see a reason why they needed to be repeated either. Thyroid levels were on the low side (for me) but she said they were not going to change my meds. She said the progesterone wasn't back yet so I've got to ring again next week.
Wierdly though I'm now having one of the longest cycles for me ever. I'm on cd39, apparently 17 dpo (although not 100% sure I ovulated when the app thinks), did a preg test today and Wednesday and nada
No idea what's going on

Springroll89 · 15/05/2020 19:06

Hi @leftittoolate I'm not sure but I do remember some people on this thread who were successful at 43 or 44. And of course you hear of older people like Cherie Blair.

@claireb707 what a pain that you are still waiting. I'm glad to hear your results were normal.

I just got my period this afternoon and it marks 18 whole months of trying. Just before my birthday. So going to share a bottle of wine and have a takeaway. I'm kind of relieved as I've been having really bad PMS mood swings and been in a bad mood with my kids which has made me feel guilty and I was willing it just to come on and put me out of my misery! I'm aware it's very unlikely to happen now after so long and am very lucky in any case. Still going to keep on going with it.

I had a question too if anyone uses a clesrblue fertility monitor? I've used one for 2 months and find it useful. I've had highs and peaks. And then lows but it still asks me to test. I figure that once it's gone back to low after a peak there is no point wasting a stick but not sure if you're supposed to test for as long as it says?

I hope everyone is staying sane and safe x

Leftittoolate · 15/05/2020 19:53

Thanks Claire and Spring. I thought I may be last month as my period was 5 days late then I got very small spotting for 2 days and then full blood. It was strange as I thought I felt symptoms but probably my imagination. I even then thought it could be implantation but it was such a full period that it couldn't have been and tested negative.
Claire - are you waiting for fertility tests? Do you have symptoms that suggest pregnancy? Fingers crossed for you.
Springroll - so sorry it's been so long. It is heartbreaking. Have you thought you were pregnant during that time. Why is it unlikely to happen now? It could still happen? I had a friend who tried for a few years and gave up and then got pregnant. I must admit I am worried about menopause and time running out.

claireb707 · 15/05/2020 20:56

we've been trying for 8 months, and when I spoke to my GP before coming off the pill she said (due to my age) to come back if we didn't have success after 6 months.
I'm 40 and have a few medical conditions, so the blood tests were a precursor to fertility tests, just waiting for partner to get his tests done now, but the GP wasn't sure if that clinic was running at the moment :(

No symptoms at all at the moment (and we only managed to dtd once this month to be honest) I wasnt sure when i was ovulating - its been a bit of an odd one this month

claireb707 · 15/05/2020 20:58

sorry trying for 9 months, I cant count either

Springroll89 · 16/05/2020 07:47

@claireb707 Fingers crossed they are re-starting fertility clinics and you get some more information soon. I feel for you waiting when AF is late as your mind messes with you a bit even when you've had BFNs.

@Leftittoolate I only think it unlikely as after 18 months all that has happened is 1 chemical pregnancy in October and me getting 18 months older! Also when I went to see a fertility specialist he didn't mince his words about the fact that it was very unlikely to happen. And that's for someone with 2 healthy DC conceived with no problems, no health issues and a mother and paternal grandmother who both had children in their 40s. He could only suggest IVF and that's not the right choice for us.

I am much calmer about it and to be honest would rather have gone through a few years of trying without success in my early 40s than regret not trying at all for a 3rd later on in life.

Have a good weekend

Springroll89 · 16/05/2020 07:50

@Leftittoolate waiting for a period Which is 5 days late followed by weird symptoms does sound unnerving and in not surprised you thought it could be it. I wish you the best of luck

Springroll89 · 16/05/2020 13:21

Sorry for the repeated posts! I just wanted to clarify that the specialist was talking about it being very unlikely for me because I had already tried for a long time with just 1 chemical pregnancy in all that time. Not that it doesn't happen for women in their 40s generally

Kangaroo77 · 16/05/2020 14:03

Joining if you don't mind. I'm 42 and ttc for number 3 (partners first baby). Two kids from previous relationship. Had a tfmr 2 months ago for T9. Looking forward to following the journeys xxx

Leftittoolate · 16/05/2020 17:24

Hi Kangeroo - what is a tmfr? Please excuse my ignorance.

Springroll - thank you yes it was. I really was convinced I may be pregnant as when I did fall pregnant years ago the feelings did seem similar. I even googled if it was possible to be pregnant and have a period and lots of posts came back that it that it was so definitely got my hopes up there! Completely delusional. I had a period for goodness sake yet still holding on to hope lol. Wanting a child makes you act in strange ways :) It is heartbreaking to try for so long and I feel for you and you are right it is better to try and have no regrets but doesn't having a chemical pregnancy mean you can get pregnant (please excuse my ignorance as have not been familiar with that term before) so there is still hope. Also some so called medical experts aren't always right and there are many exceptions. It is so hard though the trying and the disappointment. It is extremely hard to hold on to hope.

Claire - Fingers crossed for the fertility tests soon. It is a difficult time to be trying and I thought that now the clinics would be opening up again or soon anyway. IVF isn't right for us either.

Good luck to everyone x

CritterTamer · 16/05/2020 18:16

Welcome to the new ladies, you will find lots of support here!

I don't think you should give up hope @Springroll89, the doctor isn't correct - at our age there aren't many good eggs left and it can take a really long time for a good one to come along. Even younger ladies aren't classed as infertile until they've been trying for more than 2 years. A friend of mine with two easily conceived DC from her mid - late thirties started trying again at 39 - took 2 full years and got pregnant at 41 as now has a healthy 16 month old.

AFM officially my last month of trying naturally before my clinic reopens mid June and we restart our FET that was cancelled in March. I have zero expectations antebellum even achieved so much as a CP on a natural cycle before but I do have progesterone to sort out my 9 day luteal phase so it's worth one last shot. My twins turned 1 this week which I just can't believe - the could of years since I joined this thread have flown by!

Hope you're all doing OK and are safe and well xxx

CritterTamer · 16/05/2020 18:19

Sorry for the typos there! Antebellum??? That should have said I haven't ever achieved a CP, and it's been 2 years since I joined the thread.

Also had +OPK today and DH has been doing DIY all day and just told me he's done his back in! 😡😡

Leftittoolate · 16/05/2020 19:35

Thanks for the welcome Critter. I really need to learn the abbreviations as it's like a different language at the moment. Also how to use the emoji's. Can't he just lie there lol wink
