We've been TTC since October last year. I'm going to the GP on Monday, what can I expect? Is she likely to do any tests? My cycle is all over the place ranging from 26-38 days. My partner has already been and his GP recommended he takes A-Z vitamins and advised I wait on the outcome of my appointment. I'm worried my GP will just turn me away as it's not quite been 12 months. I am 31, partner will be turning 35 this month. What's everyone else's experience of seeing the GP?

@BewilderedBee how’s your week going? Have you managed to hold off early testing?

I’ve got a feeling my period is on its way, but not tested.

Coastaldreamer · 03/10/2019 14:18

Got my fingers crossed for you ladies this cycle 🤞🏼 x

BewilderedBee · 04/10/2019 13:53

thanks @Coastaldreamer, how are you doing?

@MrsF88 I tested Tuesday and of course had a bIg fat negative!! Felt like a right plonker afterwards. Felt yesterday AF was coming, but today have felt funny things in my lower stomach area and having odd points of nausea throughout the day. I go from each day think no way, but today thinking it might be!! I think based on previous cycles that my period is due Monday but who knows! Very tempted to test again this weekend - just can't help it. You're so good at not testing lol!

My sisters a midwife and only person I've told about the situation. She asked me about my blood results so I told her, she offered to send them to her daughters school friends dad 🙈 as he's a gynaecologist. Felt weird about it but my sister said he wouldn't mind at all and she didn't mind texting him!

Anyway, he got back and said the high LH is nothing to worry about and doesn't mean anything! GP appointment is next week and fertility clinic the week after!!

@BewilderedBee I'm doing ok thanks, I have my private scan on Sunday when I'll be 8 weeks so I'm just praying all is going to be ok!

Sounds like it's been a rollercoaster week for you! I definitely know how it feels when you constantly want to check 😬 I hope AF stays away for you x

MrsF88 · 05/10/2019 19:06

@BewilderedBee that’s very good of your sisters gynaecologist friend! Hopefully that’s helped take you mind off it a bit! And not long until your appointments!

No AF here yet but I’m not hopeful so expect it to start sometime over tomorrow or maybe Monday. How about you?

TMI but I had some discharge this morning that had a pinky tinge too it hit trying not to read too much into it!

Hubby is on edge today, he says it’s because he knows AF is expected soon & we’re either going to be happy or sad soon. This TTC malarkey is so hard.

BewilderedBee · 05/10/2019 23:26

How exciting @Coastaldreamer - hope it goes ok!!

@MrsF88 this whole process is pants isn't it! I'm the same, pink tint on paper tonight so think AF is on the way! Wish there was something we could do to get our babies! I don't think we could have done any more this month!! Kept myself distracted today and went shopping, bought some new makeup and clothes for work. Had a lovely positive day but tonight just on a complete downer. My positive carefree attitude is always short lived. I'm pretty much certain AF is on the way! Sorry to hear yours is likely to be on the way too xxx

@BewilderedBee thanks hun. Saw our little peanut this morning and it blew me away. I was an emotional wreck but for all good reasons! Measuring 7w+6 and a strong heartbeat so all is looking well.

Hope you are feeling ok xx

First GP appointment
BewilderedBee · 06/10/2019 16:14

@Coastaldreamer I'm so excited for you xxx lovely!!!!! When is your due date?

Yeah feeling ok today, thought I'd come on last night - at midnight I popped to the loo and it was definitely blood (sorry for TMI). But today no sign! Which is unusual for me. Part of me is think oooh maybe it's implantation and the other half of me is laughing saying 'as if'. In a 'whatever' kind of mood today and not overly bothered. Having a feet up Sunday! Had lunch out and will be a glass of red by the fire tonight!! X

@MrsF88 how you getting on? Hope the baby shower went ok yesterday! Any more signs of AF? Have you tested? AF still not arrived with me! I'm 15 dpo today but tested again sat and was BFN!

OP posts:
MrsF88 · 08/10/2019 07:18

@BewilderedBee baby shower was fine. There was only one moment that I found really hard so I just disappeared off to make tea!

AF has showed up this morning for me! So a 31 day cycle which is unusual for me! My cycles seem to be getting longer!!

Sorry to hear about your BFN.

Are you feeling Ok about your appointment? Good to get the ball moving & more info.

BewilderedBee · 09/10/2019 08:19

@MrsF88 sorry to hear AF came! I feel like your cycle always mirrors mine - AF has arrived with me today! That also makes mine a 31 day cycle. Last night was the first time for me to get tearful about it all. I feel rubbish today. Today's appointment feels fine, I doubt the GP will tell me anything. Then next weeks at the clinic, I'm feeling totally fine about and just want it to hurry up! But it's a nightmare with me work wise, no idea what to tell them. I don't really want to say the nature of the appointment, but it clashes with something really important so I need to give an explanation.

OP posts:
MrsF88 · 09/10/2019 08:46

@BewilderedBee our cycles really do mirror each other’s! Sorry to hear your AF came too!

Work wise, are you able to chat to your boss & explain? Or do you not feel comfortable doing that?

Mrsccc · 09/10/2019 09:33

Hi hope you dont mind if I join?

Came off microgynon on 25.05.19, had withdrawal bleed on 30.05.19 until 03.06.19 then had nothing! Went to the doctor and had a blood test middle of August and everything came back normal and I was just told to wait a few more months..

29th of August I had a positive OPK then AF finally arrived on 11th August!

I decided not to use OPKs after AF as I just end up stressing. So I got to 7dpo and had light spotting until 10 or 11 dpo which I thought might be implantation bleeding? I am Due AF today but nothing again... I have done a test and got BFN 😔

Dont know whether to go back to the doctors or what!

BewilderedBee · 15/10/2019 20:01

Hi @Mrsccc yes of course you can join. Has AF turned up yet? If I were you I'd wait a little longer before going back to the GP. From what I read on these boards, GPs tend to do very little in the first year TTC unless there is a real absence of periods!

First fertility clinic appointment for us tomorrow. Kind of excited and kind of nervous. Feeling very impatient with it and we're both hoping we'll have some tests done! Kind of thinking it might be consultation only tho - we'll see!!

BewilderedBee · 17/10/2019 10:09

Hi all, just letting you know how we got on. We were seen by a senior nurse who took our medical history. She asked me what tests have already been done and said they always ask for a repeat day 21 test to check that ovulation is consistent.

Based on everything she could see from us she said everything looks fine on paper and nothing to explain why we haven't conceived so far. My day 21 test is being done at the GP when it's due. I was also asked to have the AMH test and chlamydia test - choice of having these done same day as 21 one. I opted to have them done at the hospital yesterday - made the day feel more productive and I know some of the staff at the GP practice so wasn't keen to go and get chlamydia tested there! Lol

Husband will need semen analysis done - twice so he will be sent dates in the post. I will be sent and appointment for a pelvic scan too.

We will also receive an appointment with the consultant in the post - who will review all the results! This will be in a few months time - really hoping it will be before Christmas!

How are you getting on @MrsF88 are you near your fertile days? I'm CD14 today - the last 2 weeks has flown by! Had a lovely weekend away and it goes to prove distraction is key! May just keep booking weekends away until a BFP 🤣 we came home to find a letter for my ultrasound scan (vaginal) - 11th nov and my partner has his first SA 8th nov and second in Jan! Gobsmacked how quick it's come!! Meanwhile SIL baby's arrived last week - he's adorable - glad we had the weekend away to distract tho! Haven't found it as hard as I thought to be honest, although my initial thought was - they're baby has arrived, and I remember telling myself when I found out it was on the way 'it's ok cos we'll be pregnant by the time it arrives'!! Not dwelling on it though and optimistic about our appointments coming up!

Hello I thought I would join if you don’t mind :) this is my first time posting but this thread seems to be talking about the same stage we are at. Me and my DH have been TTC for about 18 months. My doctor has been really helpful and arranged for blood tests and internal scan all of which have come back ok for me. Husband has had a SA which has come back quite low and I think this is possibly what’s taking us so long to conceive. We are just waiting for the referral to come through now

BewilderedBee · 29/10/2019 18:22

@user1469992025 yes sure! The group seems to have gone quiet, hopefully everyone is doing ok. Hopefully your referral won't take long! Have they given you any idea on timescale? I had a repeat of my day 21 today, won't get the result as it will be sent directly to the fertility clinic. We've had our appointment through where all our results will be discussed - 29th Jan! Was gutted when it arrived as I hoped it would be before Xmas! Although it's given me great determination to be pregnant by then! Lol! Hopefully it's possible. X

@BewilderedBee have no idea about timescales ! What was your first day 21 test results ?My first one was disappointing as it came back at 20 but I think this was 2 days too late as my period came 5 days after. The second time I got a result of 34 so apparently that confirms ovulation. I haven’t had a blood test to confirm amh so not sure if this is something I will need but I think my GP has covered most of the other tests I may need

BewilderedBee · 29/10/2019 18:49

@user1469992025 mine was 30.09 so very similar to you but was done on day 23 I think. It was defiantly late. They told me they like it to be around 30, so it sounds like the one test of yours was there. I have my pelvic scan in just under 2 weeks.
