Ask away, whether it's OPK's, LH, Temping (BBT), Surges, lines, DPO's, ask away, I have worked for the big boys of fertility and some of the smaller ones....

Hi, I used cb digital for the first time last cycle. Was testing with fmu as instructed. On the day I got my static I tested in the morning- flashing smiley- then decided to test afternoon too as I thought I was close to ovulating due to cm changes. Do you think I should think about testing twice a day this cycle too if I have a reason? And with regards to last cycle do you think the cb would have given me a static the following morning regardless or is there a risk I could miss the surge? Thanks!

Mycrazylife85 · 07/08/2019 18:44

I was convinced I'd missed my ovulation, but by chance I took a test tonight and a really positive OPK was there. Much darker than the control line.

Brilliant I'm ovulating, bad it's day 27 so my cycles aren't reducing... 😔 no EWCM though- absolutely the opposite 🤷‍♀️ still, I'll take that.

Bumpingalong84 · 07/08/2019 18:45

Hi @BexW1988 I would have done I guess, but only because I used an ovulation test which came out positive but in actual fact I was pregnant!!

BexW1988 · 07/08/2019 18:49

Hi @bumpingalong84 - that’s what is at the back of my mind....just trying not to get too excited about it! Am going to wait a couple of days and take a test. Thanks for your reply x

Bumpingalong84 · 07/08/2019 19:35

@BexW1988 ohh how exciting! Fingers crossed it is. Good luck

I’m waiting till the weekend to test 😬

EvelineUK · 08/08/2019 15:28

@BexW1988
That is a strange one, I'll have to look that one up...

Which OPK and what time of day?

OP posts:
EvelineUK · 08/08/2019 15:30

@Skyla01
Which OPK? Usually we recommend not to test fmu... as this can give a false positive result, or look stronger than it is. It's fine to test more than once a day once it starts to flash, but you would never need more than twice in a day.

hey everyone, i recently come of the implant and bought some easy@home ovulation tests which i have been doing everyday just in case i ovulate before my period.
They are all negative/low however i have been experiencing both EWCM and white creamy CM. Could i have ovulated but the tests not picking it up, also i didnt start the test till 3 days after the implant removal, so there is a possibility of ovulating before then.
Im experiencing period like symptoms but not come on yet. Any advice? Thanks :)

EvelineUK · 14/08/2019 12:44

Hi Jade

Sorry for the delay, currently sunning it up. In Spain. It will take some time for your cycle to regulate and your hormones to rebalanced, depending on which implant you were using, this could take a month or two, even if you are experiencing ovulation symptoms. I would stick to testing day 10, 12 and 14 post start of AF until you get a positive, then you know you are back into the cycle.

Back from sunny Spain, feel free to ask away...

I used ovulation sticks last month and got on fine with them but this month I've had two very faint lines on the two days before expected ovulation and then nothing. I was supposed to ovulate yesterday but nothing shown up or on today stick. What does that mean?

EvelineUK · 28/08/2019 15:39

@beth9120
Which brand and what time of day did you test? You don't necessarily ovulate every month, but this sounds like an early ovulation you caught the end of, or a faulty test?

OP posts:
beth9120 · 28/08/2019 15:56

@EvelineUK I bought them from amazon. My doctor told me not to waste my money on expensive tests.

beth9120 · 28/08/2019 16:00

@EvelineUK I have also bought a product called 'conceive plus' is there any point in using as I don't have a positive test result.

Hewie30 · 28/08/2019 16:24

@evelineuk Hiya! I'm so glad I've found this thread! I've just started using opks today is my second day. But I just have a question about what number would be classed as 'high' and 'peak'. I've read it's 1.0 but have also heard that some ladies don't reach that high? Xx

EvelineUK · 28/08/2019 16:35

@Beth9120

OK, so firstly I would say you should consider replacing any doctor whose diagnostic opinion doesn't stretch beyond 'They all do basically the same thing'. It's not true of chicken nuggets, it's not true of OPK's. While some of the really expensive stuff is marketing over functionality, don't waste your money on cheap tests unless it is just to confirm what you already know. I can't comment on Conceive plus, but I would always ask if they have any scientific information/ data to back up their claims, as unlicensed product they are way more of a waste of money than a CE marked clinical product which has to prove it works before it can be sold...

EvelineUK · 28/08/2019 16:37

@Hewie30 Hi, which product are you using, if 1.0 is the ratio of test to control I would always expect a higher number on peak day...

OP posts:
Hewie30 · 28/08/2019 16:56

@evelineuk I'm using one step ovulation sticks and putting them onto Premom. Mine currently are 0.24 yesterday and 0.32 today on the t/c ratio so I know I'm not ovulating yet but wondered what numbers to watch out for xx

EvelineUK · 28/08/2019 17:06

Most systems call positive when the test is darker than the control line. If you don't get as dark as the control line it can suggest a low LH level, which may need to get treated. Having never used this combo I can't say for definite, but that is how ours works..

OP posts:
EvelineUK · 28/08/2019 17:07

@Hewie30
To clarify that would be 1.0 or higher for a peak reading...

@EvelineUK

Fairly new to TTC, only on cycle 3.
I keep reading about EWCM on this site and people testing / checking it. But I don't really notice any difference day to day for me.
How important is it? Is it something I need to worry about if I don't get any changes?
I tested with OPKs last month and got a positive (the pink ones, fairly strong line) so think I ovulate, am just interested to hear your thoughts on EWCM. Thanks in advance

EvelineUK · 28/08/2019 17:17

@Absa

As I understand it, not everyone gets EWCM, but most will notice a change. The methods for testing and advice of what to look for are out there. Generally it is an internal check rather than external and more to do with consistency than colour, it goes from watery to stringy, hope this makes sense.
As with any indicator of ovulation, there is not a one size fits all but BBT and EWCM are very much reliant on good methods and daily testing.
